Tim is the Head Coach of Code 3 Athletics Hawthorne. After joining Code 3 Athletics in 2012, Tim immediately fell in love with Code 3, their workouts, and most importantly, the community of members. Tim was given an opportunity to begin coaching at Code 3 and has never looked back. I can’t say enough good things about Code 3 Athletics! Coach Tim was incredibly communicative from the very start and made my nephew feel completely comfortable during his very first class. His patience, encouragement, and clear instructions really stood out. The atmosphere at the studio is welcoming, supportive, and motivating. I highly recommend this place to anyone—especially beginners—looking for a great workout experience!

I used to be a member at the Gardena location a few years back and I would notice how the co-owner Marc had a really bad temper and would treat his young son poorly occasionally like snapping at him and yelling in his face really aggressively in front of a full gym...It made me concerned and just gave me really bad vibes from the start.

My wife and I attended Code3 for well over two years. I cannot recommend this gym enough. Whether you're brand new to lifting and crossfit style workouts in general, or an experienced athlete, there's a place for you here. The gym owner, Tim, is a particularly experienced coach who is brilliant at working with folks of all skill levels. He brings out the best in everyone. (That's Tim in the background of the photos, overseeing my lifts.)
While not Crossfit affiliated, this gym provides similar styles of workouts with a greater emphasis on olympic weightlifting and weight training. Tim also gives guidance on nutrition and encourages participation in local events such as 5k's, crossfit competitions, and olympic weightlifting competitions.

I started attending classes at Code 3 in 2022. It's hard to overstate the positive impact to my physical and mental health over the past two years. I've lost 45 pounds and I'm in the best shape of my life by far.
Before my first class, I never thought it was possible to workout that hard in such a short time. Way more than I could ever do on my own at an open gym. And it still amazes me after all this time!
The workouts are hard but they are hard for everyone. I think this is really important, especially if you are new. It can be demotivating to struggle when everyone else is having an easy time. But at Code 3, the workouts are designed so that everyone struggles whether they are new or experienced. Everyone is in it together and find this to be super motivating!
And as others have mentioned the community of coaches and members is amazing. Across the board, people here are friendly, welcoming, and supportive! I'm very grateful to be a part of that.

My partner and I have an amazing time with Coach Tim and his team. They're responsive over the phone and make the classes very engaging.
The group classes get me to really break a sweat and everyone in the group encourages you to finish strong. I got the $10 check-in deal on Yelp for a 7 day trial. I'm planning on continuing my classes!
My partner, on the other hand, does personal training with Coach Tim and introduced me to the gym. She's been really happy with his flexibility as her job is hectic and schedules changing every now and then. Despite a busy schedule, Coach Tim holds her accountable and gets her to come in consistently 3 times a week.
We are both looking forward to getting back to our weight loss goals and healthier lifestyles.

I’ve been doing CrossFit on and off since 2012. I’ve been going here for the last year and since then I’ve made larger strides and now I’m lifting heavier and performing better on WODs than ever before. The coaches have a good attention to detail and positive energy. The programming, along with other members, encourages you to push yourself, while also promoting an atmosphere that is welcoming and open to people at all fitness levels.

So happy I gave this place a try one day after I decided I was tired of working out at home all the time. I have now been a member for several years and all the coaches I've met have been fantastic. I started pretty much as a beginner at several of the more technical lifts and the instruction and modifications given were great and helped me feel more confident. I had to pause my membership at one point due to an injury and wasn't sure I would be able to come back, but with Tim's encouragement I am back and stronger than ever, which has been a nice surprise!

I've only been working out at Code 3 Athletics Hawthorne for two months, but I'm already loving it! The atmosphere is always fun and motivating, making every workout something to look forward to. I joined Code 3, Hawthorne a little over a year ago when I started I was 162lbs and 5 feet so for my height overweight and with high cholesterol. I couldn't run a lap to save my life. I'm proud to say I'm at 140 now and no longer have high cholesterol and my conditioning has never been better. I tried commercial gyms in the past I felt lost and overwhelmed by all the machines. Commercial gyms just didn't work for me I needed direction and support. And I swear you will get that at Code 3. Code 3 programming is perfect for beginners intermediate and advanced athletes since they can be scaled to your level. Tim takes the time to coach you through it all. He gives you the tools to start your fitness journey all YOU have to do is put in the work. I'm dyslexic and I struggle with direction but I was able to learn because of the support I got at code 3. My teenage daughter has also recently joined and let me tell you coaching a teenager ain't easy. Tims's patience and persistence to coach you won't be found anywhere else. This gym is one of a kind.

I can't say enough great things about Tim and his CrossFit gym! From day one, Tim's coaching has been exceptional. He focuses on proper technique and is always introducing new concepts to enhance our strength, cardio, and recovery. His dedication to our improvement is truly inspiring.
The community at the gym is fantastic! It's not just about working out; we have so much fun together outside the gym as well. Whether it’s hikes, marathons, or our annual Christmas parties, the camaraderie makes every experience memorable.

Joined this gym in 2016 and haven’t left. Best CrossFit gym in the South Bay! Love all the coaches here - they are not only extremely knowledgeable but they make the classes so fun, I always leave sweaty and with a smile on my face :) Coach Tim has built a place where you feel welcomed and the community is always cheering you on. Doesn’t matter if you are a newbie who can’t squat below parallel (me in 2016) or if you can snatch 200 lbs (me in my dreams), Code 3 has a way of challenging you while also adapting the workout to your abilities. I've been at Code 3 for 2 years, and Tim at Code 3 is very helpful and knowledgeable. The environment is welcoming and each class has its own vibe. There's no other place to go to meet your goals and develop a love for a new hobby. Regardless of fitness level or ability the coaches at Code 3 works with you to ensure you are using the proper form and pushing yourself to your full potential.

Love this gym. Tim is very motivational and easy to approach if you wanna learn. People are super nice and down to earth. Been going here since late 2019. The wod is good in terms of what you need from CrossFit: conditioning and strength. It’s a good mix of different types of workout that train you to be a better athlete. Olympic lifting class is a must :)
