FINALLY - a place that UNDERSTANDS what we've all been looking for!!!! This gym is TRULY special. From the amazing owners (who radiate positive energy and make you actually want to work HARDER) to the uplifting (and SAFE) workout environment, CC Fitness is an oasis if you've been burned by gyms before. CC Fitness welcomed me with open arms and healed some of the "hurts" I experienced at other gyms (I could go on). The clientelle here is just as AWESOME - like people actually TALK to each other and laugh and have FUN. You don't see that many places these days!!!! And did I mention their mascot is the cutest pitbull named Captain Waffles???? You need to check these guys out. They're doing it RIGHT.

I hate writing reviews until I REALLY know what a place is like long-term. I joined CCF in Feb 2023 and this is my honest review.
As someone who was always athletic, I've belonged to a ton of gyms; the problem is, I never go b/c it is boring - I'd rather be outside moving. However, I was 47, looking down the barrel of knee replacement and had a very bad back. I decided to join this gym as I liked the idea of group classes and having an owner with a PT background was a huge bonus for me. There are so many things I love about this gym - the people; the community; they expertise. Perhaps what impresses me the most is the fact that no one is pushing weight loss, diets, gimmicks and bait-and-switch programs. No contract, no bullshit, no losing interest once they have your money.

I met with Coach Brandon before I started and we discussed my physical limitations and challenges; though I had so many obstacles, I really wanted to get strong to improve my back and leg strength. I really appreciated that Brandon took the time to sit down before I joined then continued checking in for the next year and a half. Showing me how to modify exercises and reminding me to do so was invaluable.

Fast forward to January 2024 and I found out my back was worse than we thought and I needed a spinal fusion. I was scared, slightly depressed and defeated. However, the team at CCF as well as the other members picked me up and reminded me why I started - to get healthy and strong. I continued modifying exercises and waited for the dreaded May surgery date.

Spinal fusion is no joke and neither is the recovery. My surgeon told me pre-op that he expected my recovery to be very smooth due to the fact I was in good health, relatively young and strong! I'm now 3 months post-op and feeling great! Other than expected stiffness, I am recovery much more quickly than most people my age with the issues I had. I credit this recovery to the CCF team and members! Group classes kept me going when I wanted to give up. Coach Brandon and Rebecca checked in on me when I didn't show and reminded me of my goals - this wasn't the typical "tough love," "no pain no gain" mentality; this was from a place of true concern and compassion.

Finally, I want to ask you - how many gym OWNERS visit you and brings your family meals during a surgical recovery? How many check-in on you even when you are not a paying member any more (due to surgical limitations for a while)? How many care more about community than charging an exorbitant amount? This gym is the real deal; if you are looking for a place to get SWOLL and just walk around to impress others, this is probably not the place for you. If you are looking for a gym that cares about your physical health and you as a person, you have found the best place ever! I for one cannot wait to get back to CCF!

On another note, my husband has not exercised since the day I met him - he now goes three times a week on his own accord. Jaw drop.

Ok I’m not one for brevity, so if you don’t feel like reading, just read those first two lines^^^

From the staff to Captain Waffles the mascot… From the equipment to the atmosphere… I wish I could give more than 5 stars. This is the most supportive group of people I’ve been around, and I used to be in therapy. Whether your goal is to get shredded like those dudes in the movie 300 or to walk around your block without feeling out of breath, this is the place for you. Everyone is extremely friendly and encouraging. The workouts are all able to be tweaked to your fitness level. I promise you that every single time you walk out of CCF after a workout, you will feel accomplished, upbeat, and happy. Brandon, Amy, and Rebecca have been welcoming, patient, and understanding. They have given me a safe and supportive environment to get my fat butt moving. I’m beyond grateful for Contra Costa Fitness.

My experience at Contra Costa Fitness has been amazing! I have never been an athletic person and was not consistent with my exercise and diet. When meeting Rebecca and Brandon, I immediately knew this was a safe space. I didn’t have to run marathons or go to spin 4 days a week to fit in here. I have been doing personal training with Brandon for a few months now and just recently started doing the classes that are offered. The coaches are great and the classes are so much fun. I have transformed my thought about exercise and now have the ability to do a regular plank for 30 seconds! Seems small but I have barely been able to do a “girl” plank my entire life. I am becoming a healthier and stronger me and a huge part is this gym. Do yourself a favor and come in to meet Rebecca and Brandon.

I walked into Contra Costa Fitness 15 months ago, full of fear and doubt. I had not done any type of fitness class or stepped into a gym in over 10 years and was extremely nervous of the unknown. I was instantly welcomed, not only by Coach Brandon and Coach Rebecca, but all the other people in the class, this eased my nerves and set the tone for me to try attempt something scary. I knew my limits and Coach Brandon took the time to provide a modification when needed. I stuck with it, pushed myself and made it through the class, feeling encouraged the whole time. I left feeling I had concoured a mountain and couldn't wait to get back to my next class. That one class turned into 3-4 times a week and a community of friends and support. I never once felt judged for not getting an exercise 'right" or needing to modify an activity.
The environment is inclusive and welcoming. Each class is different and challenging. Most importantly, people care about how you are here and care about supporting you in your life, not just your fitness or health goals. I feel stronger physically than I have ever felt in my life and CCF has a huge part in that.

Please believe in yourself and walk into CCF. You won't regret it!

I have been a member of many gyms and loved them but THIS gym is the BEST! The coaches are the nicest, most supportive people. They genuinely want to see you succeed, it's clearly their passion and they have upbeat attitudes each and every day. The workouts are customizable to your intensity of choice. I am so grateful to have Brandon as my trainer! I've worked with personal trainers before, but I think Brandon is by far the best trainer I've had. He's super accommodating and knows how to give me a really hard workout, but not at the risk of injury. He also does physical therapy, so he's very mindful of not having me do anything that might cause injury. I love that about him! I even recommended him to my partner, and now we do partner workouts twice a week. He was really great about accommodating my partner last minute as well when I asked. Beyond that, he's just an all around great guy and I always look forward to our sessions.

Was really excited to find this awesome fitness group here in Martinez! I work from home a lot and was entering in my 30's and wanted to stay active. I've tried doing gyms but quickly realized I didn't know what I was doing. From the very beginning, Brandon really listened to what I wanted to get out of this experience and I felt at ease. When I entered my 30's, I started getting injured more often doing even the most basic of tasks e.g. bending over, jogging, hiking etc. Brandon took the time to listen to my issues and goals, and helped put together a plan focusing on functional fitness. Since working with Brandon, I've been getting injured less and just feel stronger overall, which has translated to a better quality of life. Brandon also changes the workouts, which keeps things interesting and more fun; sometimes we'll use TRX, battle ropes, jump ropes etc. Brandon is also just a great guy...You won't regret working with him!

I highly recommend Contra Costa Fitness.

As a middle-age woman without a lot of sports and fitness experience I am easily intimidated by classes where everyone is buff and competitive. I don't do gyms! At first glance, I thought this might be the experience at Contra Costa Fitness, however after speaking with Brandon I was encoraged to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. I've found it to be a unique experience that feels just right for me, but probably also right for someone with more advanced fitness goals than not being out of breath when I walk up the stairs with laundry.

Brandon offers maximum flexibility for whatever your fitness goals. He has several group classes as well as personal training options. He is knowledge and caring in his approach; meeting folks where they are, in terms of fitness level, while mainting a lens of increasing overall health and individual goals. This is not your typical cookie-cutter class where every one is expected to keep up and do the same exact thing. Plus it is affordable, even for someone with a tight budget.

If you're on the fence, I highly encourage you to check it out, which is easy as there is currently an option for a free trial class. Just do it!

I highly recommend Contra Costa Fitness. The classes are small and are not intimidating for someone who is getting back into working out. Brandon is really helpful and has modifications for all athletic levels. The classes are always fun. We never do the same thing twice. The outdoor locations and times are convenient for me to make even with a full work schedule.
