If you are new and a beginner this place is not great. I was shown how to use the machines and that was it. I left 15 minutes into the class. Come to find out I injured my groin. I will try another place that does some type of consultation/education so that I can prevent injury.

Their reform machines are new and numbered. The mirrors are only placed on one side. Otherwise a pretty cool place to drop a sweat

I got spoiled at this studio with some of the best instructors! Alexis, Paige, Melody and Chris are all awesome! I've since moved from SF but they've set the bar REALLY high for other studios and it's been really hard for me to find great instructors such as themselves.

I used to like coming here, but the classes have become really redundant. Every teacher every time does more or less the exact same sequence with spider kicks, mermaid, etc etc. there's so many other moves out there......

Certainly a workout!! Which is great.

However, if you are here for the first time, don’t expect much extra instructions for anything. This is probably different for each teacher but that was my experience when I did a trial class.

It was my own fault that I showed up to class a few minutes late. I walked in, looked at the teacher and she just looked back at me blankly while continuing to teach. I wanted to know where I can put my stuff but she paid me no mind after that brief interaction. She didn’t ask for my name or anything like that. Upon further exploration I found the “locker room” and put my stuff down and found an empty machine.

I found Core 40 from googling “Pilates” so that was what I thought it was. But the machine was a bit different than what I have seen and used. Anyway, sometimes I would feel confused about exactly what we are doing. Since the instructor was just giving out verbal cues, I had to look around at what everyone else was doing, and from my impression, not everyone knew what they were doing all the time either.

Definitely worked up a good sweat! After class the instructor was sitting at the front desk area. I think she was checking in people for the next class? Couldn’t tell because she was conversing with them. I thought she would at least ask me for my name to mark it down for who showed up for class but it looked like she had no intention to. I went up to her and ask something like “is this Pilates?” And she just said “no, this is ______ method.” (I can’t remember the name of the method exactly) I responded with acknowledgement and she went right back to her other conversation without missing a beat.

I felt like she was being professional enough, but I wondered if she thought I was someone else who comes to the studio all the time, or she just actually didn’t feel the need to engage with a newcomer for whatever reason.

I saw the instructor teaching the next class briefly as I was leaving. I could tell that I probably would have liked this instructor way more than the one that taught my class.

I feel like this place is fine, I am sure people have great experience and workouts but I’m done giving it any more chances.

I came to CORE40 for the first time years ago and I was very inexperienced with fitness, even less with pilates. However, CORE40 has a truly welcoming community-- excellent instructors and friendly receptionists! For me, the machines always looked intimidating but the instructors are the reason I keep coming back.

I followed one of the instructors, Cyna, from Bodyrok as she's always been the best with modifications (I have tight hip flexors) for injures or advancing moves for experienced clients. I've also taken Melody's classes a few times and she's very educated in this industry. Both Cyna and Melody have taken extra time after class to answer my questions while showing me some stretches I can do on the machine! Chris and Dominique are fantastic as well. The instructors are dedicated to helping you reach your fitness goals and always offer a helping hand.

Best of all-- these classes are VERY effective and I've seen visible results from these classes. I highly recommend trying at least one class!

Amazing instructors and amazing workout!! I have been obsessed with Core40 since my first class. I love the fact that the workout is short but super effective. My go to workout class in SF for sure!

I enjoy CORE40’s challenging Pilates workout on their own “mega-reformers,” which take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with. My local CORE40 studio remains closed during COVID, but the Nob Hill location is great . . . still great instruction, cordial reception and a clean environment.
The workout may be daunting at first — it is challenging and there is a learning curve to the equipment — but stick with and you will see results!

One of the toughest workouts I've done through classpass. It's fast paced and sometimes difficult to hear the instructor on her mic.

The best workout to tone your bod. I tried every type of work out and nothing beats Pilates on the reformer. I'm in love.

An incredible workout. Takes a few classes to get the hang of it. I couldn't move after the first few classes but you will quickly build up core strength. Very expensive!

Quick workout but only good for toning. I've only been to the Nob Hill location (which I really like) - it's clean, there are restrooms, and they have changing rooms as well.

However, they don't have complimentary towels which is a bummer because you sweat a lot during this workout!

It's only 40 minutes, but this is the best workout for your core. I try to work out 5x/week, and this class is what I do to really focus and engage my core. With that said, I don't think you can let this be your only workout. You should also do cardio bootcamps, strength training, etc. to complement this class.

This class is good for toning, but not for a full body workout.

Short class? Check! Killer workout? Check!

I went to the into to CORE40 class through Classpass (highly recommend) and it was such an intense work out in 40 short minutes. Through complicated but precise moves on the reformer, you will be shaking within the first five minutes of class. I will definitely go back!!

It's only 40 minutes but it's intense. I think it must take a couple of classes to get the hang of the exercises and the names but you feel the burn right away. Definitely will be back.
