Love this studio. All of the instructors are great and give us their own flavor and style. I especially want to highlight Kelli and all the inviting staff there and Carina. Carina was my first instructor at CPY a few months ago. As a chicana it is very beautiful to see another person of color on the mat and even more empowering to see someone guiding/teaching yoga. I instantly felt at home and comfortable. Most importantly, she challenges us, has great music style, keeps it real and really forces us to go inward, be present, breathe and accept ourselves and yoga as a journey and practice. Thank you CPY!

I had a very disappointing class today at my 8am c2 class at the La Cumbre studio with Carina. From the moment I walked in the door she was rude and had zero personality checking us in. Side note… I love CPY cause all instructors go through their training.. so I know what to expect and the teachers are normally for the most part on point! I decided to get an unlimited membership a few weeks back because core power has an overall great technique. Although lately it seems as though the instructors are going rogue.. meaning not following the c2 style/format and even going off course outside of the HPF format that should be the same for each class. My instructor this morning,Carina, gave us some kind of strange mix this that felt like more of a mobility/ iyengar/ashtanga IDK what, class than a yoga flow class. She didn’t warm us up at all we just started flowing through 5 different options of sun A. Then told the class to pick one of the versions and flow it on our own for 5 rounds and gave no help or direction.. Half the class was lost and she didn’t even teach breath to movement. Then she moved into sun b which we did I don’t even know how many rounds(like 10??) of the same repetition just warrior 1 to chair to warrior 1 to chair over and over again… then moved into some kind of mobility portion of class where we were sitting then going up one one knee on repeat, then standing with our knee up touching our opposite hand from knee to heel . Yea It did not make any sense to me either. Then at the end of class we “had 5 minutes left” so she told us to “freestyle” whatever kind of yoga we wanted… what does that even mean!? The best part was when she turned the heat off at the halfway point in class and the fan was on blowing cool air on us after we were drenched in sweat from the high humidity from first half of class. I was freezing in Savasana.. This had to be the worst “hot yoga” class I have ever taken… Carina didn’t even seem like she was trained to teach yoga. It was a joke! I really hope this isn’t the the direction Core power is going, if so I’ll be done with my membership there. If I wanted to self flow and do my own yoga I’d stay home and do it for free! I’m hoping I see things go in a better direction. I’ve had a few off putting classes here in Santa Barbara but nothing I’d write about. This was so bad it’s worth mentioning to corporate.. we pay way too much for our memberships to not get what is expected out of CPY.

I went to my first corepower class in my late 30s and previously thought yoga was boring. I was wrong. I enjoyed it so much, I joined their teacher training and got certified. You start having favorite instructors. You learn who focuses on hips, who challenges you more, stretches you in all the right places, etc. Not all are the same.
Yes, it is hot.

Every time you enter the studio, a d after every class, staff is available for input, feedback and general info. Each class is different and challenging in its own way. A mix between a gym and yoga studio, the yoga sculpt is the hardest workout I've ever had but felt like I was being led gentky through it by Allison. Great people.
