I had an amazing time at CrossFit Chula Vista! Every class was a blast, and every coach brings something special. Rick is an awesome dude who genuinely cares about everyone who walks in the door. The community feels like family — supportive, welcoming, and full of great people.

I only had to step away because of work commitments, but I’ll definitely be back in the near future. If you’re looking for a place that pushes you, motivates you, and makes you feel at home, this is it! Bring your kids as well!

From the moment I dropped in to Crossfit Chula Vista, I felt welcomed and comfortable. The 6am crew was very friendly and helpful. Richard and Melissa were incredibly welcoming as well. I was nursing a nagging injury and Richard went above and beyond to help me craft a workout that worked for me. Richard also showed me stretches that helped me immediately and I will incorporate into my daily routine. I REALLY enjoyed my 3 days at CrossFit Chula Vista and 100% recommend this gym!! Next time I'm in San Diego I will be back!!

’ve been a member at this CrossFit gym since 2017, and it has truly become like a second home to me. From the very beginning, Rick has been more than just a coach—he’s been a mentor, a friend, and one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met. His knowledge, encouragement, and ability to push you to be your best make all the difference.

The community here is welcoming and supportive, and every workout leaves me feeling stronger both physically and mentally. Rick has built something special, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it. If you’re looking for a place where you’ll not only improve your fitness but also be surrounded by great people who genuinely care, this is the place to be.

Ive been coming to this Crossfit gym for 12 years. Looking back on my journey that began at just nine years old, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for the people, experiences and lessons that have shaped me along the way. My dad first brought me here to lift with him, and those early days sparked a love for fitness that grew into so much more. I joined the weightlifting team, which led me to the incredible opportunity of competing at nationals for four consecutive years. What started as time spent lifting with my dad has become a lifelong passion, supported by a community that feels like family.
When I left for college, my weightlifting career naturally slowed down, but coming back and diving deeper into Crossfit has reignited passion and made me feel stronger than ever. When it comes to Crossfit, the goal is to be better than you were yesterday. There is a common misconception about not being "strong enough" for Crossfit, but what I love most is that anyone can do it. The coaches will meet you where you're at and all you need to do is show up and give it your all.
This place has carried me through so many stages of my life, and I can honestly say it has not just shaped me physically, but as a person. The coaching is top notch, with knowledgeable trainers who genuinely care about your growth and safety no matter your skill level. Everyone supports each other, pushes each other, celebrates wins together and makes showing up something I look forward to every single day.
I'm so grateful to have grown up here with such amazing people by my side. This gym has given me confidence, resilience, lifelong friendships and a second home. I love this gym and I love my people. Its more than a place to work out, it's truly family.

Loveeed working out at this gym! The community is amazing and everyone is so encouraging! Shout out to Coach Tori for always pushing me to be my best even when I’m doubting myself! The coaches are great at correcting form and explaining/showing the workouts step by step regardless of who’s attending the class. I’ve been here for a year and I’ve seen sooo much progress and have dropped 18 pounds and I feel great! Thanks for the memories :)

I was just in town for a couple of days and wanted to drop in for a few classes, and it turned out to be the most pleasant experience ever! This gym truly deserves all five stars.

First, I emailed about dropping in, and the response time was incredibly quick, making the whole process seamless and stress-free. From the moment I walked through the door, Coach Rick and Coach Melissa were so welcoming and nice, instantly making me feel at ease. Their coaching was fantastic – they provided clear instructions and genuinely cared about everyone's form and progress, even a temporary visitor like me.

The members instantly welcomed me as one of their own, creating such a positive and inclusive atmosphere. It's rare to find a community that embraces drop-ins with such genuine warmth and encouragement. The workouts themselves were challenging and well-programmed.

I absolutely wish this was my home box!! If you're looking for a CrossFit gym with amazing coaching, a supportive community, and a truly welcoming vibe, look no further!!

One of the best gyms! Amazing coaches, friendly athletes and great programming. I’ve been to several gyms in the past (we move a lot) and it’s hard to find gyms who actually coach you. Never had that issue here! Highly recommend if you are visiting or new to the area like I was.

If you're interested in starting strength training, I highly recommend CrossFit Chula Vista. I've been attending this gym for over 10 years, and throughout the years, I've seen incredible progress in my fitness. Now that I'm perimenopausal, I’ve come to appreciate even more the importance of strength training and the impact it has on overall health.

I currently attend the 6 AM class, and I love the camaraderie and atmosphere this gym provides. The workouts are pre-programmed and tailored to your specific needs, making it easy to stay consistent. This is a no-fuss gym—you show up, put in the work, and feel great. Everyone greets you with a smile, the energy is positive, and the encouragement from both coaches and fellow members is truly motivating.

Take it from someone who is 52—you need as much help as you can get in feeling motivated and encouraged. If you’re looking for a gym where you’ll be held accountable, this is the place. Not only do the coaches keep you on track, but the members genuinely care—if you miss a class, they’ll notice and check in on you. CrossFit Chula Vista isn’t just a gym; it’s a supportive community that makes fitness a lifestyle.

I just joined crossfit about a week ago, one of my friends recommended Chula Vista Crossfit and i thank him for that. At Chula Vista crossfit, the owner Rick, Melissa who coaches side by side with Rick and everyone attending class have made me feel very welcome and are always so helpful and motivating. This is just the beginning of my journey and i know Rick will help me get to where I want to be. I took maybe one or two classes before with friends but now that im going to be doing it regularly it is so much fun and it gets my blood circulating early in the am. No pain, no gain! Thanks Rick for always sharing your knowledge and Melissa for always cheering on me and both helping me get the right posture and max reps!

I have been coming to this gym for several months now and I’m loving it. I did CrossFit for about 2 years a while ago and I thought I knew what I was doing. When I joined CrossFit Chula Vista I was able to see a huge difference. From the coaches to the athletes training, everyone is so welcoming. Coach Rick and Coach Melissa have helped me feel good in my own body again. They make sure that you lift correctly and actually talk the time to walk you through the right techniques. If you are looking for the right gym to join you need to join this gym.

Where strong is the new sexy! For the past seven years, my body has transformed to be stronger every day. I no longer look at aesthetics; I now pride myself in what my body is capable to do. This capability allows me to have tremendous confidence in myself and in turn exude it to others.
I love the community aspect of our 6am class too. We have become family and help each other outside of the gym doors. I am truly blessed. Win-win situation at this gym. Come visit!

This gym is amazing! We’ve been to a handful of full gyms all over Chula Vista and San Diego and we are so glad we are here. All the coaches are very motivating and they can assist with proper form, modifications of the workout for every level, and I mean every level, or they can make it harder(not my level yet). Everything is clean and organized to allow you to get your workout in and out or chat with the other amazing people at the gym. We’ve meet a lot of wonderful people while here and I’m glad this gym is here!

CrossFit Eastlake is an incredible gym! The facility is always super clean, which makes working out here so much more enjoyable. The trainers are not only knowledgeable but also genuinely care about your progress and well-being, going above and beyond to help you reach your goals. I just had a baby in September and my husband was also very out of shape and although we were beginners they worked with us to modify the moves and personalize the workouts to better fit our fitness level. As a second-time mom, I also love how accommodating they are with kids, which has made it so much easier for me to stay consistent and prioritize my health. I never thought id set foot in the gym again after having my second kid. I especially love that I don’t have to think about the workouts and I can go whenever I want, get it done and then leave. Quick and easy. The community here is unmatched—everyone is so welcoming and supportive. I’m so glad to be part of this amazing group of people. Highly recommend CrossFit Eastlake to anyone looking for a place that feels like home while helping you get stronger and healthier!

CrossFit Chula Vista is a top notch training training facility! I came from a typical gym environment and was brand new to CrossFit and olympic lifting. The coaches are professional and are the best people. And they're really into what they do and and know how to build you up. CrossFit is technical with a lot to learn. I couldn't have gotten to where I am so quickly if it weren't for the quality of the coaches!

Sending a shoutout to Rick and all the amazing coaches at CrossFit Chula. Before I joined I had been doing physical therapy as part of my recovery from total hip replacement. I had a major imbalance of lower body strength and mobility. One side was more than 70% stronger than the other.
After training at Crossfit Chula Vista for about 4-5 months, my strength levels evened out and my hip mobility drastically improved. I’m really enjoying learning the Olympic lifts and gymnastics movements. Making the transition from competing as an IFBB Figure Pro to doing CrossFit has been challenging and fun. The programming is very different from what I’m used to as a bodybuilder. Training in CrossFit will help me become a better overall athlete. It identifies areas to work on and it definitely makes you level up your conditioning. What I value most about CrossFit Chula Vista is the top notch coaching and the community here is very welcoming with positive vibes.

I’ve been working out at CrossFit Chula Vista for several years now, and it’s by far the best gym I’ve ever been a part of. I’m planning to continue going for many more years. CrossFit Chula Vista isn’t your typical gym—it truly feels more like a family.

The coaches are top-notch, but since I usually work out in the mornings, I’m particularly fond of Coach Rick (the owner) and Coach Melissa. Both are incredibly caring and supportive, while also challenging and pushing everyone to be their best.

One of the standout qualities of this gym is its welcoming atmosphere. Newcomers are always greeted with warmth and encouragement by the entire community. I still remember when I first started. I was a bit intimidated, as everyone was in great shape and seemed to know exactly what they were doing. However, the support I received from the coaches and fellow members was incredibly humbling and helped me grow both physically and mentally.

In addition to working out, CrossFit Chula Vista regularly organizes fun events that strengthen the sense of community, like competitions, birthday parties, holiday celebrations, barbecues, and more. It’s not just about fitness—it’s about building lasting friendships and enjoying time together both inside and outside the gym.

I have been a client for 12 years. Crossfit Chula Vista has totally changed my life. I started working out there to get my back stronger. I had a lifetime of pain and trips to the doctor. When I started here, I told coach Rick that I didn't want to lift heavy due to my condition. A couple years later I became a competitive weightlifter. Its amazing what consistency will do for you. The community there is what made the difference. The support and motivation from others goes a long way. I'll go to any class, morning or evening, and I feel like I'm visiting friends and family. I just went there to get in better shape and I exceeded everything I thought was possible. Hope to see you there.

The owner (Rick) and head coach (Melissa) were extremely friendly and welcoming. I dropped in every day for a week and had a great experience each day. More than a CrossFit Center this gym feels like a friend’s or a relatives place. Including the members, the entire team is very welcoming, friendly, and very supportive. The trainers and coaches make your goals their priority. It is very impactful to have someone hold you accountable on a daily basis, helping you correct your form, your posture, anything that’s going to help you both reach your goals and stay safe. Going to this gym feels like a community and it’s the only CrossFit center I would join. They’re flexible. Their prices are competitive they offer discounts when applicable and frequently host competitions events anything that helps your mind and soul, yoga classes by the way, the best recovery. thank you Coach Rick, Coach Tara, Mikey, Leilani, Tori,

I have to start of with a shoutout to Melissa, one of the morning class coaches. She is the sweetest, most kind, patient, intelligent, welcoming and hilarious people I've ever met. If you're a beginner, start off in the mornings because Melissa will give you the support to build confidence in your own body!

The owner, Rick, is very experienced and takes your workout time seriously. His genuine goal is to make sure everyone can reach their goals and become stronger. He creates ample opportunity for athletes to learn new things, and frequently coordinates supplemental classes to perfect your lifting technique, or better your mobility with some yoga at no extra cost to the athletes.

There is a lovely sense of community amongst the athletes at this box. There are always social gatherings, they celebrate birthdays a few minutes before class, and people are always encouraging each other when someone is finishing their last few reps of a WOD or reaching for a PR.

I encourage you to push yourself physically and mentally, starting with CrossFit Chula Vista. Welcome to your new home!

CrossFit Chula Vista is the best gym I’ve ever attended. Rick and the other coaches make you feel welcome and safe from Day 1. They get to know you as an individual and will help you from wherever you are starting. For example, I came in with a shoulder injury, and Rick walked me through strength and mobility exercises that have improved it greatly. The community is so inclusive and encouraging, no matter your background or level of CrossFit experience. The space is perfectly equipped, and the programming is extremely well-organized and executed: it pushes you physically but always with an emphasis on using the correct form so that you remain injury free. CrossFit Chula Vista is a special place, and I feel very fortunate to have found it.

This gym will force their political views and opinions down your throat. I have felt the most unwelcome and uncomfortable with this gym than I have in any other CrossFit box I’ve ever been to. I’ve only ever experienced the most amazing family mentality from CrossFitters and that’s what I’m used to, so expecting that was my norm. However, the people in this gym will strive to make you feel excluded and singled out. No matter how many second chances they get, they keep letting you down. The mentality here is toxic and I’m very disappointed.

Whenever I'm visiting in the Chula Vista area, CrossFit Chula Vista is my "go-to" box. Coach Rick, the owner, and the other coaches, made me feel like this was home although I am visitor.

As a former CrossFit coach and as a traveling athlete due to the military, there are three components that I feel make an exceptional box:

1. The quality of instruction and programming/design of the work out - I could tell the quality of the coaching and the design of the work outs on whenever I visit are well thought-out.

2. The equipment in the box - there is a variety of equipment, neatly organized, and ergonomically emplaced to ensure a quality work out. Overall cleanliness of the box was excellent.

3. People - the most important factor: the athletes at CrossFit Chula Vista have spirit. You can tell that same warrior ethos mentality that Rick personifies from his experience in the military influences the community. The people love CrossFit Chula Vista, and they seem to be happy to be there. When you get people to celebrate the holiday season by wearing Christmas Sweaters during a workout, or celebrate with a toast after a class is finished with the athletes and the coaches, the people make the box great.

Looking forward to drop in again sometime in the near future.

For the past year, this CrossFit box was more of a family than a gym. Rick and his team of coaches made us feel welcome and I felt sad when we had to move out of the area. The training here is world-class. The coaches pay attention to your form and technique and they will give you personalized professional feedback that many other places lack. Moreover, the people here are genuine and the love you feel when you join this family is real. I can’t thank you enough for helping me to get in the best shape of my life.

The owner seemed pretty intent on convincing me that because I'd never done CrossFit before that either I didn't belong or couldn't hang (maybe both). I shrugged that unusual greeting off and did a walk-in class today anyway. My feedback after having taken that class is that I've been to a lot of different fitness places in the city, county, state, country and world. Most of them are welcoming and encouraging. CrossFit Chula Vista was neither, which is a shame because it's very close to my parents and brother's houses. I come to visit often. I was hoping that I'd like CrossFit Chula Vista and that I could get a workout in whenever I'm in town. However, I won't be coming back and would not recommend this place.

Chula Vista Training Center (aka Crossfit Chula Vista) is a wonderful place to start your fitness journey. As a prior coach there, I may have a bias opinion but this place left a lasting impression on me. I was closely involved with this gym for five years, as a member, a coach, and an advocate, of the environment and vision that Rick (the owner) has committed to instill throughout his gym. Rick and his staff work tirelessly to make new and seasoned members feel like they are part of a family. Many gyms claim this type of environment but few can effectively execute it. Rick and his staff have done just that. The gym is very large, with well taken care of equipment throughout. Rick consistently purchases new equipment for the gym which is very important. It shows that he takes pride in his gym and wants to give his clients the best possible experience. Rick and his staff have many different programs geared to any type of athlete that walks through the door.

I left Chula Vista Training Center to attend university out-of-state but the decision to leave was difficult and I miss it. I believe that whoever joins CVTC will have a similar experience and will find it hard to part ways, if need be. I will finish with this, if you are at all interested in experiencing a proper gym with knowledgeable coaches and an inspiring and encouraging environment, walk through the doors of CVTC. Whether you are a newbie, a fitness vet, younger, older, or somewhere in between, you will not be disappointed.

My experience with CFCV has been nothing short of fantastic. I started CrossFit about four and a half years ago, and was hooked; then, about six months ago, I dropped in at CFCV during a search for a new "home". After several visits, I knew I'd be happy there.

The coaches are knowledgeable and friendly, and my gym-mates are fun and welcoming! I've never felt any kind of favoritism or cliquishness like in other gyms; quite the contrary, everybody from staff to members is genuinely interested in everybody's physical and mental well-being. There is a sincere desire for overall wellness. Like many others, I have my aches, pains, and physical issues, but in my time with CFCV, I have been able to work around those and overcome them.

I am now stronger and healthier than ever. I am again able to workout regularly. Even on days that I don't feel like taking the time to workout, because we all know those days exist, I get up and go to the gym, if for nothing else to see my gym family's faces. Afterwards, I am always thankful I did. Even "bad" gym days aren't bad.

We recently completed an 8-week strength cycle and I can happily brag that I hit PR's in each of the the three lifts on which we focused: back squats (35#), push press (15#), and front squats (20#). While the programming was awesome, and the other members helped push me, it was really the coaches that gave me the extra push I needed. I absolutely love all the coaches, but Joe and Rocio really go the extra mile for me(us), always. They know my abilities, my inadequacies, and how to develop me further.

I have been putting off giving a review of CFCV for six months, to give enough time to really get to know the gym. What did I learn in that time? That I absolutely love my new gym and the people in it, and I love the person I am there: not scared of failure, unfiltered, apologetically sweaty, and constantly striving for more. Added bonus: it's cheaper than therapy.

If you've been considering trying CrossFit, do it. If you're looking for a place to start, CFCV is an excellent choice!

My review is simply based on the great things I've heard about crossfit in general. I used to be in great shape until I had major surgery in 2014 and now I can't lose weight for some reason, I put on 30lbs. This place is just so expensive.

I’ve been at Crossfit Chula Vista for over a year now. I can’t say how grateful I am for this establishment. I am stronger and healthier that I have ever been. I remember when I walked in the door for the first time; I told Rick that I wasn’t really into the lifting aspect of the program because I have a congenital back problem. He told me that if I stuck around, he would straighten me out. Needless to say, I wasn’t really convinced. I have always had pain and was told by my doctors that I would need surgery in order to feel better. Worse yet, the potential side effects scared the hell out of me.
After 14 months and I can tell you that I haven’t had pain for some time now. I can’t even remember the last time it hurt. It may be fatigued from exercising once in a while, but that is much different than crippling shooting pains, which was a regular part of my life.
I started Olympic lifting there when Edgar and Evelyn from E2OlyFit started teaching twice a week. I can’t believe that I can actually do it and enjoy it. For me, it sort of like someone being petrified of water now being on the swim team. Edgar and Evelyn are awesome coaches who are experts in their field. All my misconceptions about moving heavy weight with my back have been obliterated. I even lifted in a competition which is something that I never thought I would say. The best part about it is my daughter (who is 9 years old and weighs 90 lbs) climbs on me like a jungle gym and I have no issues launching her in the air. Priceless!
The coaches are very knowledgeable and personable. I cannot express my gratitude for their constant encouragement. Melissa will give you a shot of self-esteem that will boost you no matter how tired and exhausted you are. This is not like a traditional gym with a lot of fancy equipment with people standing in lines looking at each other. It’s a place to be trained to be the best version of yourself you can be. It mandates coaches who are trained and actually care about your success.
There are a lot of resources available. They offer nutritional counseling and even organized grass-fed beef orders for those who eat paleo. Rick outsources the best coaches to come and teach clinics. There are periodic monthly challenges for a small entry fee and the winner who improves the most wins the pot. There is always something to keep you engaged and motivated.
You will definitely get out of it what you put into it. It’s as simple as leaving your excuses at home and showing up. I came to the conclusion that either I could be in the best shape of my life in the next year or the worst. I am grateful for Rick and his team.
