I joined as a drop-in from abroad, and felt very welcome by the coach Wagner. The warm up was thorough (highly appreciated), and the workout was excellent as well. Planning on joining some more classes with him.

From what I can see regarding the programming for this cf-gym, it seems really nice, and you’re able to scale everything if need be. There’s also great opportunity to improve as an athlete.

Would highly recommend :)

Great atmosphere and great coaching! Came in from out of town to keep up with my Hyrox training and this gym made it super easy to jump right into. The price point was a little higher than some of the other gyms in the area, but the training was not only relevant and quality, it’s also locally owned so you’re giving back to the community here. All about that and would definitely return!

Kaili was personable, engaging, knowledgeable, and fun to work with. I enjoyed the class Kaili coached. Kaili spent time with me before class, several times during, and after class to coach, explain, and see how I'm doing. Kaili makes CrossFit the enjoyable and challenging experience folks enjoy and come back to.

Awesome gym with indoor/outdoor feel. Great community. Most importantly, the coaches take time to train you on complex movements and ensure you are moving optimally to prevent injury and increase strength. I have been a member for almost 5 years and appreciate the motivation and ever changing workouts. Try it out!

I have worked out for years and trained in and around a lot of gyms. Counter Culture CrossFit is by far my best experience and I have made more progress in 2 years here than I have in the past 8years of training.
Thank you Zia, Alex, Mike, Danny, Cam, Jason, Amelia and all the other coaches for the unbeatable coaching! You are the best!!!

My 16 year old son’s car broke down and was towed to the VW dealer next to your gym. The dealer was closed and he needed to use the bathroom. So he stopped into your place to ask if he could borrow yours. Your front desk clerk was super rude and refused him this small favour. Super classless. Look in the mirror and ask yourself what that says about the people you hire to be front of house.

I recently dropped in at CrossFit Counter Culture in Encinitas, and I was incredibly impressed with the experience. As a visitor, the staff was very accommodating, making the check-in process smooth and welcoming. The gym itself was spotless, which speaks volumes about their commitment to cleanliness and organization.

I brought a local friend along, and they were equally impressed. They are now seriously considering joining the gym! The atmosphere was supportive and motivating, and the coaches were knowledgeable and attentive to everyone’s needs, whether they were seasoned athletes or new to CrossFit. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a great workout environment.

The full CF package (RX+):
Great trainers, equipment sets, and flow for getting your butt in shape. Shoutout to Zia, the dedicated and responsive owner who manages a full weekly schedule and events throughout the year.
Membership is friendly and hard working and the gym has something for everyone. Also, the in house physical therapist is top-tier and has been a huge personal value add for me.
Love this place.

I have been a CF Counter culture member for over a year. I have gotten stronger by the numbers but the benefits to my actual life have been immense. No longer waking up with back pain. My core is STRONG it’s incredible how easy daily tasks like picking up your kid is now.

Huge facility tons of equipment, great coaches and members.

If you are considering CrossFit don’t be intimidated I was for a LONG time before I finally tried it. Ironically it was my female coworker that convinced me. Speaking of 50% of the members are female so don’t be scared this place is for everybody!

Regarding CrossFit will get you injured - that’s only if you have bad form and push too much weight. Listen to your body and compete with yourself, not the person next to you. I have received zero injuries due to CrossFit.

Don’t keep thinking about it, give it a try!

8 years as a Rec CF Athlete. Dropped in 2 days recently when in town (my hometown).
- 2 Stars for community/coaching leadership and inclusion; from drop in perspective. (No one was introduced, post WoD no one cheered for anyone still working, and the vibe was cold in general - lots of room for improvement).
- 4/5 Stars for box set up (equipment snd facility are great)
- More: One coach was pretty solid (Josh); another coach didn’t say much other than what was on screen (no feedback, safety reminders, best practices, etc).
- Place has a TON of potential and maybe my drop ins were anomalies, but vs other boxes and my home box, the clicky nature here and lack of community seemed apparent and the worst I’ve seen. Strong coaches, ownership leadership, can put more order and community into the atmosphere.

Extremely welcoming communy, Zia has fostered a culture of kindness at this box unlike one I've seen before. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable in modifications (I am recovering from shoulder surgery and they were really helpful in finding alternative movements while I heal) and the little extra touches like bobby pins and hair ties in the bathroom are so nice to see in a CrossFit gym.tgey offer childcare, and showers also with towels.

I’ve been a member here for 4 years and I love this gym! It’s my family and home away from family and home. The people here have such a positive and healthy energy and I’ve never been in better shape in my life. I love how every class is led by energetic, motivating, encouraging, and competent coaches. I also love how a little friendly competition among members during the workouts makes me work that much harder.

I never thought I would love working out this hard and lifting weights, but I have become a fan of CrossFit!

I just started working out there about 3 months ago. Came from a very hardcore box that focused on "Games" athletes. The vibe at Counter Culture is a lot more laid back and less intimidating. There's a good mix of firebreathers and normal everyday athletes. Check out their WOD blog to get a feel for their programming. It's a great mix of gymnastics, strength training, and metcons.

I have been a member for a year now and I can’t imagine switching to any other crossfit gym. CFCC is so accommodating with their huge list of daily class times (5, 6, 7, 8:30 am, 12pm, 4:30, 5:30) and massive space. The gym has one huge main space (size of 4 garages) and one smaller back room for open gym. I love the coaching staff and how willing they are to help with overall technique and learning new skills. I also love that there is a shower equipped with shampoo, conditioner, soap, towels, and wash clothes! It is super convenient for people on the go, like me, especially with their Territory Foods pick-up fridge and mini-fridge stocked with protein-filled snacks and delicious recovery drinks! I am a huge fan of the family-like community that really makes you feel supported and encouraged to work hard. Every workout I show up and leave with a smile! I would highly recommend CFCC!!!

CrossFit Counter Culture is an excellent place to train. There's plenty of equipment and an attention to detail around maintaining that equipment. A lot of gyms don't bother maintaining their rowers or assault bikes. Not true at CFCC.

It's a great atmosphere with plenty of really nice people that are dedicated to their fitness without being overbearing about it.

Try it. You'll like it.

I began my crossfit journey at Crossfit Counter Culture six years ago. I couldn’t do a pull-up, climb a rope, double unders, nothing. I learned all those skills at CFCC. During this time, I was a member at a couple other CrossFit affiliates-nothing compares to CrossFit Counter Culture. The community, the coaches, the programming-all top notch. Been at Counter Culture for over 7 years. Made lots of good friends, got in the best shape of my life, and had a lot of fun in the process. The programming is superb and the hours are very convenient. Logical cycles (powerlifting, Olympic lifting, gymnastics) with a wide variety of daily workouts / movements that keep things fresh. It’s an older / professional crowd for the most part so it seems like there is much less drama than other Crossfit boxes I’ve heard about. Big spacious, well stocked facility gives me lots of room to roll around on the floor recovering from workouts.

I LOVE CrossFit...but Counter Culture is being run more like a social club than a business and the owner is super moody. What attracted me to the sport is the level of intensity, community and accountability that CrossFit offers. If you are new to CrossFit or are new to town and looking for the high energy, positive CrossFit community...I'd recommend continuing to do some research before making a commitment here.
