CrossFit Hayward is hands down one of the best gyms I’ve ever been a part of. The space is always super organized and clean, which makes it really easy to just show up and focus on the workout.
Coach Chris is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, he takes the time to explain movements in a way that makes sense and always gives helpful tips to improve technique. Coach Hermann is just as great, he’s so easy to talk to that you feel like you’ve known him for years. Both of them create an environment where you feel supported no matter your fitness level.
What really sets this gym apart though is the community. The members are all welcoming and encouraging, and it honestly feels more like a family than just a gym. Whether you’re brand new or experienced, you’ll feel right at home here.

I have been going to CrossFit Hayward since 2017 and have enjoyed my fitness journey since the beginning. The gym has great coaches who genuinely care about each members individual needs and are extremely knowledgeable and supportive. Although I have visited other gyms during the years, CrossFit Hayward has always felt like home and I’ve realized how impactful it has been for me. Thirteen years ago, I was on a dangerous path. At 260 pounds with 35% body fat, my health was deteriorating, and I was on the verge of pre-diabetes. That's when I found CrossFit Hayward, and honestly, it saved my life. I was intimidated at first, but the coaches and community welcomed me with open arms. They taught me proper form, modified workouts for my fitness level, and cheered me on every step of the way. Today, I'm an athletic 198 pounds with just 6% body fat. I can do things I never thought were possible, like pull-ups! It has been 13 years, and I'm still just as hooked as I was on day one. I’ve been training with Coach Chris for over a decade and there’s a reason I’m still here.
He genuinely cares about the experience every member has when they walk through the door. His workouts are always fresh, purposeful, and results-driven. We rarely ever do the same routine twice.
The coaching team, Herman and Mary, bring that same passion and energy. They demo every movement, walk around giving feedback, and even do the workouts themselves.
The energy here at CrossFit Hayward is contagious, and it pushes you to show up and give your best every single time. While some people are doing half-hearted curls and comfortable jogs on the treadmill at a regular gym, we’re over here knocking out deadlifts, cleans, wall balls, burpees, rows, runs and more, all in one class.
The community is also great! We work hard, but we also have fun together. From outdoor workouts and fitness competitions to social hangouts and guest coaches who bring fresh vibes, there’s always something to look forward to.

I’ve been going to CrossFit Hayward since 2019. I left during Covid and when I came back, I was truly starting from zero. At that time, I was depressed, unemployed, unmotivated, overweight and felt at my lowest. I first stepped foot at CrossFit Hayward for a chiropractic seminar (oddly enough), but after forgetting something and having to go back I struck up a conversation with the owner Chris and was invited to a workout the next day. This is truly a special community. They're incredibly welcoming and uplifting and I truly look forward to every class and being back in a CrossFit gym. I've been on this journey with Coach Chris for over 12 years. I started with his Bootcamp program and Barbell club, and have transitioned to CrossFit. LOVE this place! I’ve been a member of CFH for 13 years now, and if that doesn’t say something, I’m not sure what else will. At first I so intimidated to even try CrossFit. I was for-sure thinking I’m not going to make it after the first class! However I been here 5years now & love it! CrossFit made me stronger, healthier, and more confident! Im not going to lie It’s a challenging sport but always so diverse in workouts, with modifications for everyone. The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable and motivating!
I appreciate that they have variety of equipment to choose from, including olympic barbells, cardio machines, group fitness classes, nutritionist, you name it’s here ! Not to mention how clean and sanitary this gym is! This is why many of us been here so long. It’s a great place to trust the process!

I found this gym about 4 years ago as I was in search of a new community. My decision to join and stay was easy the first class I went to. The community was super friendly and the workouts really humbled me. Like really humbled.
Coach Chris was really a huge point of my decision. His calm yet aggressive style of coaching (I know it doesn’t make sense but when you come to class you’ll understand) really helped me lock in and want to get better at certain things I knew I wasn’t proficient in. I then switched over to a different class time and with Coach Hermann. I thought to myself, “is this coach going to be at par with Chris?”. Ladies and gentlemen, I was right, it was almost having the same coach in this new class time. We are not talking about how they look readers. We are talking about their coaching style.
There was no drop in the beat when I switched to the different time. As I approach my 4th year here at Hayward CrossFit, I will tell you this, I am very happy to have made the switch and I am still humbled every single day I show up. There is no pressure to move heavy weight. There is no pressure to be the greatest at all the moves. But there’s only ONE pressure and that is to GIVE IT YOUR ALL. I started at CrossFit hayward six months ago. I was nervous finding a new gym, I emailed the owner regarding class times and he responded within five minutes, I said ok this is good. The day I came in I was welcomed with open arms and now my new gym, I can’t live without. The members are amazing and everyone already feels like family.
I didn’t think anything of it but when I’d get their congrats on my monthly anniversary AND a birthday email, those little details made me happy I signed up to this gym.
