I was initially hesitant to start a fitness program because CrossFit always seemed intimidating, but my experience at CrossFit of Fremont completely changed that. The coaches are incredibly supportive, explain every movement clearly, and make sure the workouts are scaled to your comfort level. The community is warm, encouraging, and never judgmental, which helped me feel comfortable from day one.

Over time, I’ve become stronger, more confident, and far more consistent with my fitness routine. The classes are structured in a way that makes you feel challenged but safe, and the coaches always pay attention to form. I’ve also appreciated how approachable everyone is, you can ask any question without feeling embarrassed.

I got a chance to ride Unbound Gravel, and I wanted to improve my leg strength for climbing Flint Hills. Joewel and Amiee developed a training plan including squats, lunges, and deadlifts. They also worked with me to improve my form. After a few months of training with their help I’m now able to stand up on my pedals. I’m looking forward to having a great ride at Unbound.

I couldn’t recommend CrossFit of Fremont and their services more. I had been working with my doctor for about two months on what I thought was a hamstring injury, but then I spoke to Joewel and he diagnosed with something different almost immediately and gave me new exercises to do. Within a day or two I was already feeling much better and regaining a lot of my lost functionality, much more so than with what I had been doing previously. Joewel had a really personal touch and care in his approach with me and I could easily tell that he was very passionate about what he does. Thank you for your help!

In my search for a gym where I could get consistent personal training I discovered Cross Fit. And what a find it has been! From our initial meeting, the owner Joewel and my trainer Aimee, listened to my goals and objectives and spent a significant amount of time getting to know me. Building my core strength, losing weight and improving my overall fitness are my goals. They have met and exceeded every one of these goals. The training sessions each time are designed specifically for me. It hasn’t been easy, but the challenges they present me with are always well thought out and focused. My husband started training with me too at Cross Fit. It’s has been fun and exciting and so worth my time and money. I can truly feel a difference in my body. Healthier and stronger. I’ve been going to this crossfit gym for 3 months and wasn’t sure about how my knee injury would do. At first was having problems with my knee and the owner, also a physical therapist was able to evaluate and come up with a plan to strengthen. Now a couple months later, my knee is not bothering me. The coaches are all fantastic, full of knowledge with adapting the workout to any injury or limitations. The workouts are easy to adjust to any fitness level. I have been attending CrossFit Fremont for a little more than 6 months. It provides a great environment to challenge yourself to become fitter and stronger. The coaches -( Amiee, Peter, Joewel and Shannon), are very encouraging, and they offer options for most exercises based on your level of fitness and strength.
What I also appreciate are the regular social events (hiking, trekking, rock climbing, events for kids), that help build a sense of community. The exercises are always challenging, and I always finish my class feeling exhausted but with a sense of accomplishment. Overall, CrossFit Fremont has been a great positive experience for me.

I've been going to this gym for 6+ months now. I love the facilty and the gym has a very postive and supportive enviorment. I feel this is more than a crossfit gym. They have nutrion programs and physical therapy as well for all ages. Crossfit is about community and this gym has fun community events they host all the time. Which is great. They are constantly improving the gym and facilty to meet the needs of the members which I feel is great. I'd highly reccomend this gym for anyone trying crossfit out. I'm in my late 40s with three kids, and the oldest is turning 5. I haven't really exercised in 5 years, so I'm low on energy and get winded fast. I need to improve my health and get functionally stronger so I can run after my kids and help the family. CrossFit of Fremont has been great! Coaches are experienced and thoughtful with their recommendations. They want the class to progress, but they also check on the individual's well being. If someone has injuries or soreness from previous workouts, the coaches will suggest alternative weights or movements. The workouts are great. On different days the gym will schedule days that focus on strength training, conditioning and cardio. After the main workouts, there are prescribed accessory workouts to help with cool downs, mobility and recovery. I really like the balance, and I feel comfortable going at my own pace. In just two months, I can see my cardio and my mobility improving. Thanks for all the help!

I’ve been a part of this gym for almost a year and I recommend whoever is on the fence on what gym to join to check this place out! The staff is great, the place is always clean, equipment is always new and functional and I enjoy attending any class at all times. I would typically go at 6am then I switched to 12pm and if I can’t make the noon class I attend a pm class so there’s never an excuse not to go. Except when I’m on vacation but they have an app that keeps me updated on the daily work out and I’m able to track my times/weight etc. The owner Joewel is down to earth but will kick your butt on a workout, his wife is very friendly and easy going, all the trainers are coo, but I wouldn’t say easy going lol 🤪 they all kick your butt but leave you with a feeling of satisfaction after completing the workout! 🏋️ Pete hooks it up with the aux cord privilege and it makes me push myself even harder when the beat drops but over all I would totally recommend this gym to anyone starting off or a seasoned trainer.

I have had the pleasure of working with Joewel as my Physical Therapist for over 6 years now. I first met Joewel when he was a PT at Kaiser Fremont to help me with plantar fasciitis. He was the first PT that actually listened and worked to get me relief for my foot. I was happy to follow him as he began his new business and he’s helped me with numerous hip, lower back, and foot issues. His warm and kind demeanor helps put you at ease and you feel listened to when you explain an issue you are having. He understood that as a teacher, I was always on my feet and he would look at what was causing me to have a particular injury. He is so knowledgeable with how the body works and always explained what was happening to cause the issues. He modeled any exercises he wanted me to use to strengthen a particular area and was great with follow up plans. I’ve recommended him to friends and coworkers as a trusted physical therapist who went above and beyond the typical printed exercises to get to the core of what was causing pain. I came to CrossFit of Fremont almost after 10yrs of no exercise and feeling pretty low in confidence in my fitness level. I used to be fairly athletic both in my childhood as well as up until my mid 20s and I felt like I have lost it forever. I met Joewel and the coaches in CFOF slowly got me into the rhythm with bootstrapping sessions where I learnt the basics of the CrossFit exercises and the forms. Then after some regular attendance over a few months I am happy to note that I have regained confidence with my fitness level. Just to give some examples of where I was before and after a few months - I have learnt how to manage my heart rate during intense workout. I have learnt new athletic skills like rope climbing and handstand etc. I couldn’t do even single pullup at the beginning. I could do several in a row now. I still have a long way to go in fitness but it’s a good checkpoint to reflect on the progress thus far. More about CFOF - super friendly coaches and athletes. Very willing to help us on our goals. Timings are great and flexible, busy folks can suit their schedule. Saturdays are fun and there are good amount social activities happening around the gym. Last summer I slipped and fell, this resulted in a fracture to my ankle. After the cast was removed my medical provider provided a list of exercises to do at home.
Unfortunately this routine did not offer substantial results. I felt unsupported and unsure that I could achieve mobility results on my own.

I ran into a friend who referred me to physical therapist Joewel Pascual from IKALA.
The 1 on 1 secessions with Joewel where 100% hands on. He customized the visits to include massage,stretching,and strength training.
In a few short months I regained the mobility to continue with my activities prior to the injury. I am overjoyed to be able to enjoy my Yoga practice once again.

I’ve been a member at CrossFit of Fremont for a year and it has been a wonderful experience so far. Every WOD pushes your limit and work your entire body. The coaches are very knowledgeable, fun, friendly, and very down to earth. They push, encourage, and motivate you to improve at every workout. In the beginning, I could not do any rope climb but now I am able to complete the challenge of completing the weekly 15 rope climb. In addition, I enjoy the kipping pull-ups and toes to bar as these workouts help with doing muscle-up. COF recently had their second annual CrossFit competition called Ikala Game where you participated in a fun competition with other members, and it was an enjoyable experience for all. I highly recommend checking out CrossFit of Fremont to get a good workout!

It has been six months since I've started CrossFit. I was very nervous to start and quite doubted my ability to do CrossFit style of workouts. I just wanted to give it a try. The main reason for me to continue this is the kind of attention given to everyone, whether you're a beginner or at an advanced level. The coaches here are very helpful and make sure you do the workouts correctly and safely. Even in a larger session, there's personalized attention on every individual to make sure the workouts are performed correctly. They help us to understand and work on our limitations and also push and encourage us in certain areas.
Another main reason is that the coaches here allow us to progress at our own pace and provide feedback on how we can work our way to advanced moves. This makes the environment very welcoming, especially to people that are beginners like me.

Love the classes here! Joewel the owner is awesome and Brandon is one of the best instructors. He explains things very clearly, he’s personable, and he’s very helpful in fixing little things about my movements even in big classes.

Everybody here is friendly. It’s a good place to get in shape and healthy whether you scale back significantly on the workouts or you go hard, the workouts are definitely as intense as you want them to be. Which means that even if you think you’re a strong athlete, the workouts can still be very challenging.

Great gym! I did CrossFit many years ago in the south bay and got back into it here. Now 10 years older, I need to approach my workouts a little more carefully to avoid injury. I find the coaches are mindful of that but not afraid to push me to do better either. My son Diego plays youth competitive soccer at Newark FC & he has been treated for Osgood-Schlatter in the past & seen for hip flexor issues by Dr. Joewel. Diego has had great results. I had been suffering with recurring knee pain off and on since high school, a persistent issue that eventually compelled me to let go of my passion for running and CrossFit. The constant apprehension of knee dislocation overshadowed even the simplest tasks, such as transitioning from sitting to standing. It was disheartening – a feeling of being trapped in a cycle of uncertainty.

My encounter with Joewel, whom I met through social media, offered a glimmer of hope in an otherwise gloomy situation. Despite my reservations, I remained cautiously optimistic. Previous attempts at finding relief, through numerous visits to physical and sports therapists, had yielded repetitive exercises that failed to produce any tangible results. Despite undergoing multiple x-rays and MRI scans of my knee, medical professionals failed to identify any root cause. My approach towards Joewel's intervention was somewhat tentative, as I wasn't expecting a significant change.
Working with Joewel proved to be an entirely different experience. He demonstrated a genuine interest by posing pertinent questions and attentively listening to my responses. The exercises he tailored for me were far from the conventional mundane routines; they were customized to not only strengthen my knee but also align with the demands of CrossFit and running. This departure from the standard repetitive exercises was refreshing and instilled a glimmer of hope within me.

While the majority of our interaction transpired virtually, via video calls and exchanged videos, it was remarkable how an assessment carried out remotely could yield such profound improvements, surpassing the outcomes achieved by the numerous in-person consultations I had undergone previously.

Thanks to Joewel's guidance, I now find myself in a significantly improved physical and mental state. The fear of knee dislocation no longer haunts me, allowing me to reengage in activities I cherish without fear. I vividly recall avoiding box jumps in CrossFit since a fall in 2018. Yet, through Joewel's help, I've conquered those fears and now approach box jumps with confidence, along with accomplishments such as unassisted push-ups – skills I once considered unattainable.

I can even run though my hilly neighborhood pain free again, this demonstrates the transformative impact of Joewel's approach. He helped me refine my running technique, emphasizing cadence and breathing, aspects that have elevated my performance.

I am grateful to Joewel and Ikala for all the help they have given me and can't recommend them enough when it comes to physical health and mind positivity.

I had a major surgery on a severely torn ligament in my hip. After following the prescribed physical therapy as best as I could, I had gained functionality back in the joint but was still far from normal. I had chronic lingering pain in the joint punctuated by flare ups, and would barely be able to function in my day to day life without being in excruciating pain at the end of the day.

I am lucky that I was referred to Joewel and his holistic approach to physical therapy and body wellness. Over the course of months he worked with me to reduce the scar tissue in the joint, reestablish functionality in my hip and the areas connected to it. Our sessions would consist of a combination of exercises, stretches, sports massage, adjustments, and a clinical application of cupping. After a few weeks into a months long process I could feel the difference in my strength and flexibility in the joint and related areas thanks to a thorough homework regimen he established for me.

Throughout the process, he had (and has) a great interpersonal communication and a glowing positivity about him that changed my mindset about my injury and that I had an effective way to get back to normal.

Through the entire process, he was always open for questions and responded in a timely and informative manner. I am proud to say that with his help and guidance I am finally pain free!

I've been to about 3 of the DEKA events at this gym. Probably my favorite venue for DEKA. There isn't many DEKA affiliate gyms in Northern California, let alone in Sacramento. I drove all the way down to this gym with a few of my gym family to compete. I love the gym and the people working there. Coach Joe Bala and Coach Joewel are so welcoming and friendly. I always feel so at home when I come to compete here. 10 out of 10 would highly recommend. I just wish sometimes I could catch an actual workout because everyone here makes you feel welcomed and like family.

The Gym itself was well maintained, very clean and organized. Creating a pleasant and hygienic atmosphere to work out in.

Was with CrossFit of Fremont from January ‘23 to July ‘23. I can say this has been one of the best gyms I’ve been to. I was new to CrossFit but everyone is super friendly and supportive in each others fitness journeys. Came here for a Spartan DEKA and was pleasantly surprised at how much of a community there was. The staff were chill and the space was well kept. They only have open cubbies for personal stuff so be mindful of what you need to bring. I was back home visiting family for a few days and did not want to miss my workouts. I found CrossFit Fremont online and decided to pop in. The coaches were all very friendly, helpful and the energy and environment were very inviting! I even brought my mom one day, who had never done CrossFit, and the coach was so accommodating and really paid a lot of attention to making sure my mom was comfortable.

I moved out of the bay area 2 years ago and come back often to visit my family and have been looking for a good gym I can visit whenever I’m in town. I’ll definitely be popping into this box again!

So far, my experience with Crossfit of Fremont has been excellent. Every day, the coaches and fellow members are welcoming and willing to help and encourage one another. There is something for everyone at this gym, regardless of fitness level, as there are a variety of classes and programs available from beginner to advanced.

The exercises are constantly changing and include a combination of cardio, weightlifting, and gymnastics, which keeps things very interesting and keeps me constantly challenged. The coaches at this gym are extremely knowledgeable, and even though the classes are challenging, they make sure to scale the workouts to the individual's abilities and teach the proper techniques.

Since joining CrossFit, I've seen significant improvements in my fitness and strength. Everything is due to the coaches / trainers, who are very passionate about assisting each member in reaching their goals, whether it is overall fitness, losing weight, or becoming a competitive athlete.

The facility is excellent, with a wide range of equipment such as barbells, dumbbells, rowers, bikes, skis, and pull-up bars. Furthermore, the facility is well-kept and clean, making the workout experience that much more enjoyable. The community is mission-driven, the coaches and facilities are top-notch, and it feels like a family where anyone can succeed if they put forth the effort and work together to achieve great results.

The facility is large and has always handled class sizes well. More dumbbells at higher weights are a needed update, and foam boxes would be amazing: OUCH on a few occasions for some folks. Overall, I appreciate the environment, philosophy and energy! My main coach has been David G. and is hands down FIVE (ten) STARS. He's been transformative for me personally. I'm athletic but haven't lifted since a bad injury involving two surgeries on my wrist and he's expertly helped me navigate reduced mobility issues while continuing to push me to excel. I live in Redwood City but find that it's worth the occasional drive to Fremont on a Saturday morning to attend a DEKA Affiliated workout with a certified DEKA coach. The workouts are challenging and the coaches are really motivating. I've worked out with Coach Pete and Coach Nestor. Both were fantastic. They provided great tips and encouragement. I can't recommend enough this place for people who want to workout in crossfit fashion.
So much emphasis on gettings the basics done right.. the position, technique etc. The coaches are really patient with questions and take time to answer in detail. So many class schedules to pick up and very flexible. The crossfitters here are so encouraging, friendly and fully diversified. The workouts each day vary a lot and never are boring and everyone is encouraged to scale up or down the workouts depending on needs.
I had an excellent time with their programs, coaches and friendly faces!
