CrossFit Sweat Shop has been operating in Walnut Creek since 2009. Our staff is comprised of professional coaches, most of which have either a Bachelor's or a Master's degree in Exercise Science/Kinesiology. Our small, but highly educated, and experienced, coaching staff allows us to both train our members on a more personal level, but also bringing the benefit of years of academic, and real-world experience.
When paired with our supportive community of members, it's difficult not to achieve your health and fitness goals at CrossFit Sweat Shop!

Awesome Community. If you need to just start working out, get back into it, or be better than what you were, you need to check this place out. After my first class, I knew that I wanted to make this gym another home.
Coaches are amazing and will help you reach your goals. Community is super comfortable, everyone is supportive and I've never felt intimidated in the gym. If anything, everyone else inspires me to work harder.
2 years in and I've never felt better in my fitness journey.

As a nervous 50+ beginner to CF and weight training, I found Helen as a Coach. All the coaches are great, but Helen really listened to me and pushed me to meet my goals. She helped me get that start I just wasn't able to find on my own. Make the investment in yourself and GET STARTED with Helen to get your base. 5/5 stars and more if I could!

Iโve done CrossFit beforeโthe programming here is pretty good. Add to that good coaching and positivity and you have a special gym community. But seriously shout out coaches. They are skilled and knowledgeable and will help fine tune all your skills.

Have been going to Helen for training on and off (and now ON!) for over 5 years (in the โbeforeโ times and through COVID). Whether virtual or in person, Helen kicks my butt in the best way. She is supportive, knowledgeable, and incredibly motivating. She knows just what I need to push. Best time and investment in myself for my physical and mental health - so much so that even though I moved to Oakland I still make the trek to Walnut Creek multiple times a week. Over the past year I transitioned to group classes and they have been life changing. The community - coaches and fellow athletes - are incredibly supportive. 10/10 would recommend no matter where you are on your fitness journey.

I wish I could give it more stars! โญโญโญโญโญโญโญ I joined CFSS a few years ago and really got serious over the last two. The more I've invested, the better it has gotten - it's been a transformative experience in my life. The community is what makes it special and what makes me come back every day - the coaches care deeply, and so do all the folks I work out with every day. It's also very welcoming place, even if you're just beginning your fitness journey.

Hands down the best gym in the East Bay Area with the most challenging & varied workouts! With no judgement and fully adaptable approach to fitness. It helped me build skills and strength I never thought possible.

CrossFit Sweat Shop is such a special place! I have been coming 2-4 times a week for the last year or so. There is so much to love about this place. The instructors are very supportive and attentive, and always ready to provide modifications. Class sizes can vary, but they never feel overcrowded. The owners Nabil and Helen have done a fantastic job at creating a space where everyone is welcome, from seasoned gym rats to total beginners. I love how sometimes instructors will organize free community events like a Saturday morning run. But the very best part? All of the other badass women that inspire me to lift more and train harder <3

I started coming here about a year ago after a knee injury. My physical therapist recommended Helen, who is one of the owners. Helen is amazing! I canโt recommend her enough. Sheโs tough, but in such an encouraging and kind way, and because she knows my limits better than I do. I love working with her. My knee is stronger and pain-free. If you are looking for a place to train, look no further. Itโs one of the best investments Iโve made for my health. Thank you Helen!

Joining Crossfit sweatshop gym was one of the best investments I made. People say 30s are hard but I have never felt more energetic and strong like this ever before thanks to this gym. I have to thank coach Nabil and all other coaches for all the support and guidance. They are detail oriented and spend time with each person to correct our form and to push our limits. The atmosphere there is energetic and motivating.

I started my CrossFit journey at the SweatShop after training oly lifts for a few years. I was hesitant at first but decided to make the jump because I was tired of training 2.5-3 hours/day. My first day at the SweatShop, I was overwhelmed with all of the positivity, camaraderie, and support from all of the athletes and coaches. This place is truly awesome! I had to cancel after only a few months due to moving out of state. But I'm hooked now and will be joining a different CF box when I settle in. Thank you so much to Nabil, Bri, Helen, Dean, Miles, and the rest of the SweatShop family for making this so much fun and pushing me to my limits. I'll be back for a drop-in for sure!

CrossFit Sweat Shop is simply amazing! Sounds clichรฉ but really, this place is it! Iโve been coming to this gym since October 2014 and I felt like part of the family right from the get go. Nabil is truly your CrossFit dad (although based on my age, he is like my CrossFit brother :) The workouts are tailored to everyoneโs capacities and fitness levels. Never will you feel less when working out at the Sweat Shop. People cheer you on and legit celebrate your gains. Every single coach is amazing! They are so helpful, they honestly look out for you and correct you if your form is off. I can say Iโm never tired of the Sweat Shop since they make fitness SO MUCH fun! And the parties! You gotta join to experience that level yourself!

I started CrossFit at age 54. I was a little worried that it was too late to start something new. I was wrong. I love it and feel 10X better than before I started. CrossFit provides functional strength and conditioning. The benefits have carried over to so many other aspects of life. My back feels better, I sleep better and I move better. Everyone at the Sweatshop is incredibly nice. The coaches make sure you understand the movements and are fantastic teachers, and the owners take genuine interest in the members. If you were a former high school/college athlete looking to get back in shape and be challenged, this is a great place for that. You can be challenged as much as you want. If you were never an athlete but want to learn new things now and get in shape, while having fun around cool people, this place is also for you. Give the Sweatshop a try. You wonโt be disappointed.

Iโve been a member at CrossFit Sweat Shop for the past six months, and it has been an incredible experience. The gym is fantastic, with a welcoming, community-driven atmosphere that sets it apart from other gyms.
The coaches are exceptionally knowledgeable and attentive, ensuring that everyone, from beginners to seasoned athletes, can get the most out of each workout. They provide personalized attention and adjustments to help improve technique and prevent injuries, which I greatly appreciate.

This place is awesome! I've been attending for a bit over a year now and I keep upping my membership frequency because of how much I enjoy it. The coaches are all super friendly and really know what they're talking about. My technique and fitness have improved so much.
It's really approachable for a beginner too. The base workouts are hard but achievable for someone of reasonable fitness, and then if you're more advanced there are options for that. And if you don't have a movement figured out yet, or an injury or other limitation, the coaches will give you modifications or substitutions.
And the community is fantastic too - it's a super positive and encouraging environment. I push myself way harder working out with others, and that's a good thing!

I highly recommend this CrossFit gym. The coaching staff is diverse and experienced from competitive athlete, martial arts instructor, professional rugby player and mobility coach as a few examples. The gym is well stocked with equipment and clean. Class size get large on the wknd but is not an issue during the week. The coaches and owners get to you know, understand your injuries and limitations and help you work towards your goals. This is a great gym to join if you want to progress in cross fit or just fitness in general. The programming was recently switched to PRVN which is a big improvement. Echoing my thoughts I shared on Yelp:
I joined Crossfit Sweat Shop a little over a year ago and it has been one of the best decisions ever made! My husband joined the gym about 1/2 a year prior to me and kept encouraging me to start. I was hesitant at first because lifting weights felt intimidating and I had never done it before. I did a few sessions with Bri (who is amazing!) to learn the basics and from there, there was no turning back. I started off never having used a barbell and now feel very comfortable doing all the exercises. Strength and resistance training and cardio are all vital for our health and this gym offers it all! I never thought I'd be my fittest in my 30s and I'm only going to get stronger!
All of the coaches are amazing and well trained/experienced and everyone is so nice, encouraging, and welcoming. They will help you modify exercises if needed (based on your strengths/weaknesses). I truly feel at home here! I'm always excited to go for a workout and always leave with a sense of accomplishment. If you are looking for a great gym, look no further!

I can not recommend CrossFit Sweat Shop more highly - coming here is 100% the best part of my day. Joining as an extreme beginner, I was really impressed with the in-depth knowledge all the coaches have, and their ability to work with me individually while I was getting up to speed in a group setting. It did not take long before I was completely hooked. Most of all, it's fun. The coaches and members are great and it makes for a very fun atmosphere. It would be hard to overstate what a great place Crossfit Sweat Shop is. And it would be even harder to overstate the quality of the coaches, and community, I've found there.
I've been a member since late 2012, and I am a lot fitter, stronger, leaner, and more flexible/mobile than when I began. There is absolutely no doubt that if you are willing to show up and put in some work, you will definitely improve.
The coaching is excellent on all levels...programming, technical, emotional, nutrition, etc. Nabil, James, and Rene are all very knowledgeable and make an effort to help you improve. And the more experienced members will give you pointers and tips if you ask for help, which I have found incredibly helpful.
Another thing I've really appreciated is that the coaches are always willing to modify the workouts as needed based on my individual needs. I spent the first year battling constant nagging injuries and a general lack of fitness, and they never were anything but helpful despite me needing something different almost every workout. And they're also respectful of my own goals in crossfit, which are not necessarily the same as some of the younger and more competitive crossfit athletes, and they work with me to achieve them. They really only care about your development and improvement, and are willing to invest their time and effort into it.
The other thing you should know about CFSS is the community aspect. It's a very strong community, but very welcoming. Crossfit in itself can be a bit intimidating, and even more so when you see how strong and fit a lot of the athletes are, but it's really a very nice and friendly group of people at CFSS. And there's definitely a motivational vibe that flows through the place, even on those days when you don't feel great. The community picks you up and pulls you through.
If you are thinking about crossfit, or want to improve your health, you won't be disappointed at CFSS. My experience there has been 100% positive, and CFSS has improved my life in many unexpected ways.

CrossFit Sweat Shop is a place that I call home. I joined the Sweat Shop 3.5 years ago after a doing triathlons for 15 years. I was about to join Club Sport for way too much money with little return when my massage therapist and chiropractor said, if you you're looking for nice towels and a nice locker room, go for Club Sport, if you're looking for a true workout lifestyle, check out this guy Nabil. After my first, workout at the Sweat Shop, I was hooked, and haven't looked back. I was tired of the monotony of the long hours on the road in training for triathlons, and have learned over the last few years, we weren't really made for long endurance events. Rather, short and intense workouts are what humans were meant to do. Although I was an exercise physiology major in college, the majority of the things I learned 15+ years ago are outdated and just incorrect regarding nutrition and workout regimes.
Nabil, James, and Rene have made a world of difference in my life and my passion for exercise and keeping active. Their knowledge of olympic lifting, exercise physiology (they all have degrees in this discipline which is rare for CrossFit gyms across the board), and nutrition is 2nd to none.
I've been to other Cross Fit gyms and it's just not the same experience. I feel the expertise of the trainers is not the same and their direction of training form over weight does not compare. Yes, people can get hurt doing CrossFit under the wrong direction. Nabil, James, and Rene error on the side of lighter weight with proper form over doing the Rx'd weight. They are also willing to modify workouts on an individual basis if there is an injury that you are working through. And on top of it all, they make it a ton of fun!!
Bottom line, I would not join any other CrossFit gym, and the people I enjoy the experience with are a very unique group of individuals that have become good friends. CrossFit Sweat Shop is a one-of-a-kind experience creating a lifestyle and a passion that without, I would not be whole.

I've been with the Sweat Shop for about two years now and I was hooked from day 1. What first drew me in was the fun atmosphere, knowledgeable coaches, and nice people, but what has kept me here is the second family I have gained within the past two years.
Almost every time I leave the gym, I leave with a huge smile on my face because of the people that I just got to spend my morning or evening with. Everyone there is like family, and even on my first day I felt welcomed. The atmosphere is unlike any other gym.
I have been in other crossfit gyms and regular-gym atmospheres, and am constantly reminded of how knowledgeable and experienced our coaches are. I feel confident and safe working out because I know the coaches at Sweat Shop know what they are talking about and teaching, especially with Nabil, James, and Rene's experience and backgrounds.
The Sweat Shop is awesome! If you're even slightly curious about Crossfit, give Sweat Shop a try, the coaches and members give nothing but an amazing first experience.

As a mom with small kids, I was looking for a way to add weights into my normal routine of walking the kids in the stroller and doing yoga. CrossFit Sweat Shop has become one of the highlights of my week and the perfect balance to my existing workout regiment. The people are friendly and inviting, and the coaches modify the workout for me so I feel comfortable as a beginner. It is important to me to not get hurt, so I can be there for my kids: the coaches always push me to be my strongest self, while ensuring I have good form and perform the movements properly. I highly recommend this for people looking for a new workout home. You will have a ton of fun, and love your new strong body.

What separates the Sweatshop from other gyms in the area is the amount of knowledge all the trainers have through their education and experience. Nabil, James and Rene have a strong ability to teach & communicate the movements performed in crossfit, and achieve positive results for their members. As someone who never did any Olympic lifting prior to crossfit, James and Nabil clearly explained these technical movements in a controlled setting, before having me use weights I felt I could lift. They have also created a fun and positive environment for everyone to walk into each day. I've had a great time in my 3 years at the Sweatshop.

I have always found crossfit to be very intense and competitive and that can tend to bring along a very intimidating vibe. After being finally convinced to TRY crossfit at the Sweatshop, all it took was one hour and I was hooked!
I began with the on-ramp program and truly felt it was a great way to learn all the movements that always seemed so impossible to do. However, I felt prepared enough to brave the regular workouts and only a few months later, I have been doing things I never thought I could do!
It takes hard work and lots of support to believe you can do all the things you see the top athletes at the gym doing! I had dabbled in crossfit years ago at another location and although I enjoyed my brief time there, the knowledge and support I get from Nabil, James, and Rene is what keeps me going on days when I feel I just CAN'T. They all know so much about nutrition, fitness, body mechanics, etc. I trust them implicitly! They don't just guide you and make suggestions based on experience...they genuinely have the knowledge to back up what they are saying. I feel blessed to know them as my coaches but developing a friendship with them as well will leave an impression on me forever.
The entire family at Sweatshop is so welcoming and supportive! The support continues to grow beyond my "I am the new kid" label I gave myself when I first walked in! When I am trying to get my butt off the ground to just finish those last 5 burpees, I hear people cheer for me, I hear my new family cheer for me, and it gives me that burst of I CAN that I need to finish!

Prior to joining the Sweat Shop, I had no experience doing Crossfit. My previous athletic experience centered more on team sports (basketball & soccer), but in my adulthood it has been difficult to continue on in those. I wanted to find a new sport so I started off doing their On Ramp Program which was a great way to learn the fundamental movements. After my first class I was hooked!
The coaches definitely make it a positive, encouraging atmosphere and always make you strive to do and be your best. They are always there for every member no matter their skill level.
The community in the gym feels like a second family. Everyone is so welcoming and makes me excited to come every week. They always push me to get that last rep!
Overall, my experience at the Sweat Shop has changed my life; I can always count on getting a great workout with great people!

I have been a member of Crossfit Sweatshop since its inception. When I began I could not execute one pull-up. I am now able to perform chest to bar pull ups and have never been as strong as I am today. AND I'm 60! The coaches are all well trained and encourage all of us to do our best no matter our fitness level. The community at Sweatshop makes me want to show up and work hard every day.

This is an awesome place to work out. Whether you are brand new to crossfit, or an experienced athlete, you are going to find a great group of people here that will push you and challenge you to better yourself everyday. As well as a top notch, knowledgeable coaching staff that will ensure proper form and technique are always the number one priority. The crossfit "family" atmosphere here is second to none, that along with the awesome programing makes this a place I see myself training for many many years to come.

A friend of mine brought me to Sweatshop to do the Crossfit Open workouts. He spoke very highly of this place, and since I was looking for an Crossfit Affiliate location to join, I figured I'd give it a shot.
Crossfit Sweatshop and all of their members welcomed me & my family with open arms! From day 1 I instantly felt a good vibe. After each open workout I grew to love this place more, and more, but being that we live in Vallejo I didn't think it was a smart decision to travel so far for a gym. I tried other gyms and tried to like them, but nothing compared to the crew at Sweatshop. So we joined! And I couldn't be happier.
Sweatshop has such a good vibe! They push you to be a better athlete, to keep going when you want to quit, and not to mention they correct your form if it's being done wrong. Coming from a place where the coaches only cared about your money, it really is nice to have coaches who actually care about their athletes and not make you feel like all they care about is your money.

What an amazing gym... The cross fit thing didn't make a lot of sence to me until I spent an hour with Nabil, now I'm hooked. I would recomend this gym to anyone.
