The way this gym makes it such a huge process to cancel your membership is appalling. I called a couple days ago informing them that I no longer live near their gym hence wanted to cancel before my one year renewal was up. The front desk associate Noah legit said “You could try emailing us but I can’t guarantee it’ll be cancelled, your best course of action is to PHYSICALLY come into our gym to speak to a manager” The following day I drove to their facility to do just that, I spoke to their GM Jose who was of absolute no help. I mentioned I was trying to avoid paying another annual fee because I don’t plan to use their membership another year. His response “There is nothing I can do to refund you your annual fee” I was blown away that their so called GM doesn’t have the empathy or so called “Power” to reverse this fee. I was one day late past my renewal date and got charged a full years worth of of an annual fee. What ultimately led me to write this review was Jose’s dismissiveness to the situation and willingness to help. His exact response “We are not going to tell you to cancel before your annual renewal is up, it’s on you” He then tried giving me some phony phone numbers for their so called Crunch Customer Care which aren’t even operational numbers as Crunch doesn’t have a dedicated customer care phone number. I found out on my own that the easiest way to cancel your membership is through the Crunch application on your mobile phone.

They are renovating and this is good the gym really needed a complete make over. But they are not interested in their paying members since they are remodeling they shutted down the dressing rooms and with them the access to the pool. The swimming school is still in session but for us poor paying member is closed.
How about you organize yourself and grant the use of the pool to everyone? Since there is an other entrance.
Sp unfair. The school is already keeping the pool occupied 6 day per week on prime times, living us with a very narrow time frame, wich is already very messed up, and now we can't use it at all?

I recently came back to this place after a few years of being out of town, I was in disbelief by how drastic it has changed due to the renovations. Although the place has great memories since the 80s it feels like a modern gym, the front desk staff Cisco  was very helpful when giving me the tour and breaking down how things have changed. Not only did I sign up, but I left with so much motivation to come workout .

This Crunch Fitness location is by far the best in the San Fernando Valley. The gym is very spacious, with plenty of rooms and equipment to choose from. One of the highlights is the basketball court, which is almost always empty—perfect if you want to play without waiting. The overall layout and size make it easy to get a full workout in without feeling crowded. Highly recommend!

Do not sign up with this gym. I cancelled my membership in writing back in April 2025. Blocked them from further charges. They just hit me again with a mo. charge 3 mos later and another arbitrary charge from a different Crunch number. Now i am closing my cc to keep from them charging ever again. I actually provided WF Bank with the cancellation letter and Crunch is still trying to hit the card. Crunch Manager won't return calls. Very sketchy business practice. Stay away from this org.

So far, so good. Some of the machines in the exclusive room haven't been functioning smoothly this past week. They're remodeling, so I'm not sure if those will be replaced with the upgrades they're doing, but hope so. The showers tend to get clogged pretty quickly, which is a bummer because I like to workout in the mornings and need to shower before heading into work 5 min down the road. It was pretty crowded at the start of signing up, but it seems like it's died down a bit - possibly due to upgrades as well? Either way, I have appreciated less crowds.

leftt this gym and switched to Fitness 19 it’s smaller, much cleaner, has everything I need, same price and closer home. my experience with crunch was frustrating from start to finish. It always smells bad, something its broken all the time and canceling the membership was a pain,. I requested to cancel and still got charged for months. The staff is another issue. the redheaded manager has a horrible attitude and treats members poorly. I've seen it firsthand and heard similar stories from others.Overall, I don’t recommend this gym. There are better, more professional options out there. I'm glad I made the switch.

The gym itself is okay, lots of equipment but something is always broken. If you go super early morning or late night the gym is relatively empty and you can get a good quick workout in but if you go during any other time your just waiting to get a bench or pulley machine and wasting your time searching for one. My real gripe here is the workers, they don’t do anything to help you and I’m pretty sure the guy Martin lied to me when I asked to to speak to the gm and he said he was but he had no tag or anything to prove he was. Would not recommend signing up here. Has been nothing but a headache trying to cancel a monthly membership. I'm shocked to see bad reviews of this gym. I've been going to this location for about 3 to 4 years now. There's always someone cleaning. Yes, some machines do break down but that's because people don't use them correctly. Besides that the staff is always nice and doing their job. It's clean. On Saturdays from 10am-4pm the basketball court is occupied by a high school volleyball program. It seems they get priority over people with actual gym memberships. When do they expect us to come in and use the court when they have it closed off for 6 HOURS every Saturday?? It's ok. Nice and big but bball court is old and not too kept. Machines are well maintained, rarely are they broken. There is a lot of personal trainers. Martin is the manager, but carefully with him. Friendly but he sort of lied to me, omitted information that resulted in me having to pay an extra month for personal training session I had told him I wanted to cancel originally 4 months prior.

Thank you to the franchise owners and the excellent staff for providing the service and space to perform workouts. I joined 15 years ago when this facility was PowerHouse and appreciate the staff from both franchises for providing the fitness tools and exercises to positively impact my health. Great gym with good equipment. It has everything I need for any kind of workout! Someone mentioned that it used to be a power lifting gym prior to it becoming part of the Crunch franchise. Few pieces of equipment is on the older side, but it still works great.

They have the larger traditional room with cardio machines, free weights, cables, weight machines, etc. and few other rooms to workout if you don’t want to be crowded.

Each locker room has its own sauna (at least the men’s locker room does).

I had a terrible experience with the Kids Club staff Nancy at Crunch in Chatsworth. The woman working there consistently acts unprofessional and makes it very uncomfortable for parents. She goes out of her way to question whether you belong there, seemingly to avoid watching your kids. It comes across as discriminatory, and the way she interacts feels borderline racist.
On the rare occasions when my kids were allowed in, she made inappropriate comments about how they "don’t look their age" and how "big" they are. It's rude and unnecessary, especially when all we want is a safe and welcoming space for our children while we work out.
Crunch should seriously reevaluate who they have running the Kids Club. Parents deserve better than this judgmental and unwelcoming attitude.

This is my regular gym. I have come to this gym since it was the power house, everyone is so nice and respectful for the most part, but today, TODAY!!!! As an Athlete and Fitness Professional, I’d say that it’s not a bad place at all. It’s definitely bigger than the Van Nuys location. I know the manager Angel from that location and he’s a real cool dude. I love the private gym, dance studio, and the variety of equipment that it has to offer. I just don’t like that people stare so much, lol it’s supposed to be judgment free. I can say they don’t have much experience that’s why they stare. He was recording himself being obnoxious he kept referring to him self as the duke. When I asked him to wipe off a bench that I was going to use after he got all defensive and told me to go F off. There was a guy there filming social media videos in the weight area the other day and he was talking to the phone. I'm not sure if it was a live stream or a recording, but I'd rather not be filmed while I'm in the gym. In reading some other reports I believe his name is John Melendez, but I'm not sure. Good facilities overall, the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. My only complaint is with certain members, and them taking pictures without people knowing. There's a guy that continuously brags about being on a radio show 30 years ago, and he clearly has ringworm. He's obviously over 60, but hits on women 40 years younger. I hate it when he's here. Otherwise, this is a great place to work out.

Honestly hate going here, basketball courts require the most expensive membership and they're given to school volleyball teams as often as possible. If the courts were accessible with a cheaper membership it'd be one thing, but as it stands they're run down and inaccessible. Gyms always too crowded, wouldn't be surprised if it's a COVID hot spot. Nice location, gym is old as some of the equipment but they have also got some new machines. Friendly personnel at the check in point, there is not much space between machines and also benches so sometimes you feel taking somebody else’s personal space. I visited 4 times during my stay at Van Nuys this week and always found people cleaning and doing some maintenance on the equipment.

So far very concerned with my recent enrollment. First off what are the hours? Google maps shows hours of operation as 5am to 10pm but the door says Mon to fri 24 hours a day. Second where is the security???!!! I was there for 30 minutes to enroll. In that time I watched the floor manager get into an altercation with a man who appeared to be homeless. This same day another man in a GMC or Jimmy tried to run me and my mother down in the parking lot. He was going at least 40mph and had to veer around us through the parking spaces to avoid hitting us then flipped us off, this was around 8pm on a Monday night. So far not going well. So I read the reviews online. Pretty terrible. So I call Tuesday night at 6pm to ask if the female sauna is working again because several people had complained recently it was broken on yelp. The young boy who answered said he wasn't sure but assumed it was working since no one complained that day. I asked if he would make sure before I drove over there and his response was no because no females we're on staff. Really?!!! At 6pm on a weekday not one female is working to check the ladies sauna. Obviously I stayed home and at this point very very thankful I didn't get stuck in a 12 month contract. Most likely going to cancel mostly due to lack of security and staffing.

I realized I was charged $80. 5 days prior my brother called to cancel, he gives them his info then was placed on hold & no one got back to him. We shouldn’t have assumed they canceled but we thought they were doing their job & canceled. We called for a refund. The charge of $80 was for the year but we won’t be going to crunch . I was hoping to at least get a refund for that part of the charge especially since I’m financially struggling. That $80 was suppose to get me through the next two weeks. Due to some medical bills im struggling & I told them I was struggling. Point is no matter how loyal you are to them, their policy is more important to them than you are. Mind you I did call in advance, they just love making it difficult because what’s the point of 10 days in advance ? The best part is last time we called to tell them that we canceled 5 days prior they said “oh it’s not canceled. I’ll cancel it right now” & come to find out I receive an email today saying they canceled it today !! That’s 3x trying to get this membership canceled & people warned me about this & overlooked it. If u look at the reviews a lot of people have an issue with cancelations.

Despite it being a bigger gym , it's no surprise they have less stars than the other neighboring crunches.

They are sneaky people who will change your whole contract. They took my guest privileges away and took 6 months off my "new contract".

Yall want to renew your contract, go to van Nuys. They looked at all my previous contracts and saw why I was upset. Chatsworth changed mine completely. Van Nuys went ahead and fixed it for me and I got my original contract back. 🙌

I've been trying to cancel my membership for the month. I've told them in person, over the phone, spoke to a manager, and nothing seems to be resolved. Seems like no one knows anything on how to cancel a membership. It's very frustrating. All I want is to cancel my membership. Why is it so hard? They tell you it's canceled, but I keep getting billed month to month.
The date is July 31st. I just got off the phone with them (AGAIN - another $69 i dont have). I'll be back with an update if I get charged again.

Gym is big but appears there was only a small room with work out machines. There wasn't really any work out machines and the ones present had a lot of rust around them. The room appeared dirty and unorganized.
Importantly don't leave your kids in the child day care. We wanted to see how it would go. Arrived and the staff didn't really acknowledge us or ask anything about my daughter. They asked her name, and we mentioned how she is and plays and other things, but it was like talking to blank walk but she didn't even say anything back or nod her head.
30 mins later we get a call that my daughter is crying. Run to the child care place and she's crying like never before! We asked what happened and staff said nothing, asked again what happened? "Nothing". Doesn't make any sense why a child would be screaming her lungs out if nothing happened. Staff aren't paying attention to children.
Mind you my daughter hardly ever cries. We expressed our experience to our friends and they all said same thing "i don't think i've ever seen your daughter cry". Ourselves and friends will never be going here again. If anything we'll be advising people to stay away as far as possible

This is a great gym if you’re looking for something affordable. I do see workers cleaning fairly often which I always appreciate and most staff and very nice. I would recommend it!

My only note to management would be to have staff clean all restrooms more often and the one near the basketball court tends to be messy.

Been a member for over a year nd some months almost 2years and have tried to get out of the member ship after 4months due to they don’t have Nthn in there I can use and it was always packed the 3times I went. After just letting the member ship payments bounce I was forced to have to stay all these months due to I don’t want the non payments on my credit report nd I have NEVER LIFTED A WEIGHT IN THIS GYM A DAY IN MY LIFE.. is very unfair and they say the only way to cancel the membership is with certain people that’s never there and it has to be face to face 🙄 I wouldn’t recommend the gym to NOOOO ONE I’ve gone into the place and they weren’t there then called twice different times

Clean gym that is crazy busy in the evening. I got 3 day guest pass. Came in/looked at the craziness and left. Workout would take hours due to waiting for equipment.

PS: I appreciate the reply from the owner. Unfortunately, some of my workouts I sometimes have to schedule around the "peak hours". Due to this fact this particular gym won't work for me. i just wanted others to understand this limitation. Even during peak hour there was plenty of cardio equipment available. If this is your thing-sure, it can work for you. Weight equipment 9free weights, cable and other machines) is definitely way overcrowded. I did not see a possibility of working out in any reasonable amount of time. This is not the only gym with this issue. Seems to be an issue with all chain gyms locally.

The gym actively encourages people to film their workouts, so unless you're looking to be a part of some influencer's instagram story, I'd avoid it.

I don’t mean to be rude, but your response was extremely hollow and general. Are these rules/guidelines posted anywhere around the gym? If not, how do you expect anyone bringing their own equipment to know or follow them? Furthermore, is there any rule which prevents people from being filmed without their consent?

If not, what I said still stands; if you’re self conscious at all about being photographed while trying to get into shape (which I imagine most are) avoid this gym. Find one that cares more about its members than social media marketing

Horrible staff they’re always gossiping about clients and eating on the clock. People steal out of the lockers constantly and homeless take showers in the bathrooms. Not only is this terrifying but it’s a safety concern because I’ve seen men walk in the women’s stalls as we’re getting dressed. I never feel safe at this gym so I had to leave and go to 24 Hour Fitness.

I wasn’t able to come by to actually start my membership, but I had paid for it. So I asked to cancel so I wouldn’t be charged for next month. I had purchased the month to month so there should be no issue but they are refusing to respond to my emails about cancellation. You’re a business. Do better. I’ve had memberships at other locations and when I need to leave I’ve had no issue. Spend your money elsewhere.
