The gym has definitely gone downhill since the pandemic started. The gym is consistently dirty, there are not nearly enough mats, the jungle gym where camp crunch is held is missing most of it's equipment and the TRX's need to replaced. The current mask mandate is not being enforced, and the personal trainers are not masked up when training clients. None of the staff have name tags, and the front desk MSR's don't look professional. They don't have any consistent uniforms. How does Crunch expect to have a clean and professional facility without professional looking employees?

I was scrolling through the classes they offered and I accidentally pressed the reserve button, very huge button hard to work around. I tried to cancel in the same minute because I noticed right away and they warned me that I was going to get charges a late cancelation fee but they didn't offer a confirmation when I hit the reserve button. first of all have to say that the vibes here compared to any other gym is that i like the way i get acknowledge for showing up because that gives me the best motivation of not giving up in always returning to this establishment. the employees and personal trainers are commited to thrive in training and awesome role models to look up to i never doubt asking them a problem i have with my own training i see them training just as hard as i want to be myself which is a big plus because when you hit plateau i always look and ask them for a change and challenge thanks Eliseo, Hector, Aaron, Lucas Alex and Funny Raul we could totally do a fuuny Sitcom here at this gym thats how great the staffs here and even every individual that works out here

Started working out here this week. Its a little warm, but then, it's really hot in San Diego this week. Add to that 80 bodies trying to give it their all, I can't really complain about temps.

The staff have been super friendly and helpful. The gear is clean and has been available when I want it. This is a great, non-judgmental gym. No meatheads, no weight slamming, it's a pleasure to be here.

My favorite gym in El Cajon! It's just got such a good vibe and we've been previous members of other named gyms but, we always return here. No judgements, a true motto! And, the staff rocks! They take the time to get to know everyone and I love that about the gym.

Been coming here since 2015 and struggled with shoulder and knee issues from weight lifting thru the years. Been thru a few trainers and always with very positive results. I must say i had session with Alex last Friday and i really can't believe how much improvement with one session. Shoulder pain is gone!! I highly recommend !!!

DO NOT GO TO CRUNCH FITNESS, I was in the USMC in san Diego and I went to a crunch gym in lakeside ca and one day they had a sign saying they had closed and none of the phones worked anymore and I was not notified by email or mail so I went to another gym in the area and they told me I had to cancel at the gym I went too and that they couldn't help me so I called by bank and stopped the payments and now two years later I get a call from a debt collector and I owe $198 and if I don't pay it will ruin my credit and now I find out after calling 20 gyms in different states that crunch doesn't have a corporate number or any way of contacting anyone to fix this so if you go to a crunch fitness just know that if you one day have a problem with your gym no one can help you and the company does not care

I signed back up to this gym back in July when they opened up for a couple weeks and I only went 2x when I decided It wasn't worth it as this gym was not following COVID-19 measures properly. Fast forward to August (I believe) I get charged and my bf who I signed up as well, we both get charged a yak fees and now fast forward to September (today) we were charged $100 and I can't figure out why because no one from this gym answers the phone and they don't reply to emails. Your really getting what you pay for here. Pretty basic when it comes to the layout, machines and equipment. So come in focused on what you are there for. It gets pretty busy during the week. Especially on the weight side. With only 2 cleaning stations in operation if your lucky, cleanliness is under par. With as much staff that is present, these statons should be fully operational. The men's locker room is usually clean. Always could be cleaner but it is clean enough. You'll get hit with the registration fee about 3-4 months after sign up. So have those funds available. Overall, it's a good place to go if your gyming on a budget. It has the tools you need to reach your fitness goals like I have. Just know that it will be busy if you plan on going right after work. Even though I live a mile from this location, I think I'm going to swith to the other location in El Cajon that is bigger with a swimming pool.

I signed up for this gym in the early months of 2017. I took a job transfer in June 2017 and called to cancel my membership in July 2017 to only learn that you must go in to cancel. I called and the lady who pick up the phone by the name of Ana told me that she can see I cancel my membership and she didn't know why I got charge n that she was going to pass the message to her supervisor and that she was going to going to call me back or the manager. I called and 10am and i called back at 2pm because i never got a phone call. The person who answered the phone told me Ana was gone for today and that the message was never passed to the manager and that manager wasn't there and that she would be back in 25 minutes. I went personally today around 5pm and that the manager left because she had a problem with the babysitter. (I understand that) the girl who's telling me this in the front desk while eating grapes. Employees should eat in breakrooms not in front of the customer while giving customer service. Its rude and disrespectful. I believe her name was Elizabeth. She told me to send an email and call in about a week because it's 2 days before Thanksgiving. Crunch it's giving me the round around and as a customer I do not appreciate it. I had a membership here and cancelled it after 3 yrs of being with them filled out the forms was told there would be one last payment from my account they took three more payments and never cancelled my account. I had to go in they they told me they changed systems and they couldn’t find anything about me canceling the account. This is my best gym...
Close to my home, pay less comparing to other fitness, nice customer service, clean area, perfect air circulation and every time parking available. One issue need to consider, open hours. I’m sure a lot people agree with this point. I have no problem to pay a little bit more (from $9.95 to $11.95) to extend the opening hours.

So I kept paying until I had a chance to go in. Then they slapped me with a $100 cancellation fee bec my 'contract' auto renewed in the process, despite paying them a ton of money in the meantime for something I wasn't using. Then they sent the $100 to collections bec I refused to pay! Overall, don't be fooled by their seeming no fuss and easy policies. There are things hiding in the fine print. They make the whole cancellation process cumbersome on purpose. Save your money. Go to CHUZE instead!

I'm pretty sure I got my Viral Meningitis at the El Cajon location. You'll never see the staff cleaning up. They're are too busy talking to other to do so. The bathrooms are dirty, the equipment is dirty, the floor is dirty. You would never see this at Chuze. You can go into Chuze and immediately smell the cleanliness of the facility. Three words, terrible customer service. My girlfriend and I were planning on working out together and I alone one day signed us both up for memberships (I'm not supposed to be able to do that because the person who's name is on the membership needs to be present to sign the contract). She got over it and didn't want to go, I try to cancel and they won't let me because I'm not the person who's name is on the account...So I did the only thing I could and took my card off the account so I don't get billed ( apparently they are not supposed to do this either...) . I tell my girlfriend she has to physically go in to cancel the account she never created in the first place. Because life happened she forgot to go to the gym she had never been to in the first place to cancel. 2 months later they are telling her she has to pay for the membership that "she created" plus fees or it will be sent to a collection agency, even though she's never set foot in the gym before the day she cancelled, and the representative said that to her face. Cancelling an account that a person never created and informed you they didn't want shouldn't be that hard. Somehow Crunch figured out a way to make it so.

Gym is nice and well-equipped BUT service sucks. Restrooms & showers are not always clean AND the manager Amber has no concept of what customer service means. Very unprofessional! Where did they find her? She should get fired & put someone capable to run the gym. Don't try to complain to the corporate office in NY should you have an issue, it's a total waste of time. They'll keep switching you from one number to the other in hopes that' you'll get tired & give up. Sorry, if you really want to join a Crunch gym, I think that other Crunch gyms are better run. But the Pkwy Plaza facilities leaves a bad taste in your mouth for Crunch in general. Also, BE WARNED: I've seen it myself - If you are a franchise member of, for example, the Lakeside gym, Pkwy Plaza will not let you in. And they're mean about it! It's plain old false advertising on the part of Crunch (supposedly you have access to all facilities). Send a complaint to CA Consumers Affairs, San Diego Consumers Protection, and any other agency to complain about the false advertising.

Our first time at this gym. We been to other Crunch location without any issues.

My husband and I went in for a quick workout session and were approached by one of their personal trainer who was accusing my husband of training me and that he overheard my husband giving me advice. When my husband told him that we were simply working out together and of course he is going to give me advice because I am his wife. The personal trainer was being Condescending with his remarks and said "well I don't know for sure if that is really your wife" and so on....and that he cannot give me advice.

To make the long story short; after our workout I went to the front counter and asked to speak to a Manager and was told there was no manager on site. Right off the bat the girl that was working at the counter was rude and was giving me an attitude. Apparently she already knew what had happened and was going off about my husband giving me personal training and was talking over me each time I tried to talk. I had to ask her multiple times to show me the policy on their Definition of personal Training.
I explained to her that we understand this is a business and that all personal training is to be done by Crunch's trainer and even showed our IDs that we are a married couple. And, what is wrong with me having my husband as my work out buddy and giving me advice? She then proceeds to say that giving advice IS personal training and he cannot do that and if I don't like it I can cancel my membership.

The reason why I am writing this review is because of the way the staff handled this situation. Crunch need to Reorient their staff on their customer service skills and how to approach and talk to a member if an issue arise without being condescending and making accusations.

I signed up for the Peak Plus membership at the Lakeside office, and for the time-being, I was told I had access to any gym and essential location I desired until the Lakeside gym opens up. Then suddenly, the staff started treating me like a leper, saying I would need to go to the Jamacha location. They kept giving me strange looks every time I checked in, then one girl (who had been borderline harassing me about me going there) said if I wanted to continue going there, I would need to go to Jamacha and cancel my membership then start a new membership with Parkway, because Lakeside's opening date was pushed back to November 2017. I later found out that that claim was a lie and that Lakeside is still on schedule with their opening. I was told Parkway has been losing members because of the Lakeside location opening soon and have decided to go back on their word and discriminate against Lakeside membership holders. This is textbook bad business and shame on them for implementing these practices. I doubt I'll go back even if there is an agreement made between the Lakeside and Parkway locations because they treated me like an inconvenience and lied to me just to try and gain my business.

I like this gym because it is modern, clean, bright and the staff always go out of their way to make me feel like a valued member. I even signed up my whole family and they enjoy it too. Cory, one of the personal trainers, is a great instructor and great guy! What you get for $10 or $20 per month is the best value around.

The gym itself is ok, but their business practices have permanently soured me on this company as a whole, and this location in particular. You can sign up online, you can pay online, but the only way to cancel your membership is in person. Having moved away from the area, and being forced to come in to sign some cancellation paperwork while they upsell and beg you to stay is not my idea of a positive experience.

Avoid at all cost, or you will pay (literally).
