Really love working out at Crunch here in Huntington Beach. The club is super clean, with plenty of equipment to suit whatever training needs you have, plus the staff is super friendly. 😁 I enjoy working out with a personal trainer to hold myself more accountable, first w/Cristina and now Noah, both wonderfully qualified, offering the perfect balance of encouragement and motivation. Noah’s disposition is just-right, incredibly kind, patient and non-judgmental. He keeps me on track and frequently introduces me to new exercises, ensuring that my workouts are never boring. I’m always thrilled to complete the challenging sets he throws at me. Feels so good to show up for myself!

This gym has some of the best vibes out of any gym I’ve ever been to. Place is clean, people are nice, and the trainers genuinely care about your progress on your personal goals. My personal trainer, Noah Craig, has helped me remember how it feels to really push myself to the limit, and even go beyond what I thought I was capable of. His belief in my physical capabilities have helped me overcome my own mental barriers on multiple occasions. Overall, one of the best gyms I’ve been to at a great monthly price as well.

Ive had a trainer Cristina pate for about 4 months. She is incredible. She's helped me improve my strength. Also when I started I had a shoulder injury and couldn't do 1 pushup. I am now doing 30 push-ups when we train. Also I've lost 9lbs of fat and gained 3 lbs of muscle. I will definitely continue coming. I feel amazing thanks to her and Crunch

This place changed my life. I lost 175lbs here and have worked with several trainers, all incredible, but most recently Cristina…whom has an insane amount of knowledge and can level you up fast. The gym is small, which I like, and everyone knows each other. However, when a gym is small it is even more important to take excellent care of it. To update it. To come through on promises. Our fees go up, but I will say to the eye of a regular (6 days a week) the absence of the owner or whomever is the person that makes those decisions is felt. I’ve been here since it opened and it is the same. From the dated bathrooms, the turf, equipment, etc. No investment is made in making it better. With new Crunch’s popping up it is hard to see nothing being done to ours at all. Promises from the regional
GM get made, but zero results. It’s sad, because the staff and members are absolutely amazing. We deserve long overdue tlc. If you want an incredible and supportive staff and gym community…this is your place. If you want a fresh and taken care of gym with amenities…sadly go elsewhere. They are no longer competitive in price in comparison to other similar gyms with far more amenities that are remodeled or new.

I’ve been working out with the Crunch Trainer, Christina, for 7 months. She is kind and thoughtful. Her strength training full body workouts are challenging and fun! I’ve gained several pounds of muscle and lost 40 pounds of fat. Anybody who knows me, knows I don’t love to workout. But I love to workout with Christina!

Crunch HB is my favorite location by far! Love the energy I get as soon as I walk in and all the employees are absolutely amazing! The dirtiest bathroom I have ever seen…and it’s been like this for multiple days.

Used toilet paper on the floor.
Poop stained toilet seats.

Full trash cans

I train 6:30 AM. Two days in a row there has been zero cleaning done in the restroom.

Front desk told me they don’t have cleaners on Friday, but Wednesday and Thursday trash is still in the restroom. It has not been cleaned in DAYS.

Be aware of Crunch Fitness membership cancelation policy. Long story short I was in the area for business so I started a membership there. At the end of my business trip I went in person to cancel my membership, but the staff member convinced me to put the membership on hold, due to the possibility of me returning to the area for work. After my membership was on hold they would not allow me to cancel the membership over the phone and made me jump through a bunch of hoops in order to do so. Overall their business model seems like a scam to entrap people into monthly memberships they no longer use and the quality of their facilities is below average. 1/10 would not recommend.

Wow I am Completely unimpressed. I was really excited to take the 9:30 a.m. "booty theighs and belly workout class with Connie j". I arranged my whole schedule on Friday morning so that I could make it to this class. I walked into crunch there was nobody at the counter. Now keep in mind I have never been here before, I don't know what the protocol is I don't know where the class is I don't know who the teacher is ( I've never met them before) then finally someone wanders over just looked like a random gym goer guy no name tag no crunch T-shirt nothing to indicate that they worked there they did not offer me information like hello they did not introduce themselves. I had to ask if they worked there. I said I was new I was doing the first time trial thing showed him the email the guy seemed completely uninterested didn't even look at it. The guy then just pointed me in a general direction toward the back of the gym. Now keep in mind I've never been here before so if it were me and I worked there I would walk the new person directly over to where the class was because they probably wouldn't know where it is. And isn't that that guy's job? To help people? I was hesitant to walk into this room because it looked like there was already people using the room and I didn't want to interrupt. When I did walk in they said nothing to me completely ignored me. I had no idea what was going on if I was interrupting a class ? if this was the class? if they were just a group of three people that likes to get together? no idea. Then when the class started the teacher did not introduce herself did not welcome me to the class did not tell me what equipment I was going to need for the class, I guess she expected me to know everything I was going to need and what to do seeing as how I had already told her - I had never been there before. I had to ask what I needed and I still didn't get a direct response, she quite literally acted as though she did not want to speak to me. I watched what another person was doing and just did what they did. I did say I had never been there before and I didn't know what to do where to go what equipment I needed I was ignored. The class sort of started again I didn't really know what was going on if it was officially starting if she was just explaining what we were doing during the class, it wasn't clear. Then a few minutes later a couple of white people walked in late to which she lit up and said "oh hi thanks for joining us! You'll need heavy weights and a mat for this class." So I have to wonder was it racism? Like did I need to be more white to get acknowledgment or an introduction from the teacher? I did notice that the other Mexican American looking woman who walked in after me also had to ask a bunch of questions and was pretty much ignored by the teacher so maybe that's what it is? This is a warm and welcoming place only if you're white. The website boasts a lot of rhetoric about positivity and how this is a positive place and there's a camaraderie and a community within the crunch environment. Which I will admit got me pretty interested in this place that definitely appealed to me and that is not what I experienced at all. I'm writing this review but I doubt anyone will see it or anyone will care. But I was completely disappointed and will not be back - crunch you definitely lost my business.

This place is a great value. The thing I liked best was that I didn’t have to set up monthly payments. I hate monthly recurring payments. They’re so difficult to stop. Anyway, I paid one lump sum for the year and got a good discount. The gym is clean and the machines are in good repair. I really enjoy the classes. So I’ve been going to crunch for about 4 years now, the gym it’s self is alright, the bathrooms are always in pretty bad shape.
I had three trainers over about 2 year period, thinking maybe they could push me to the next level and help me progress, which they definitely helped with. I’m just not impressed with the quality of training the trainers get, I’ve recently learn that I’ve been drastically under eating and over training, since I’ve backed off training so hard I’ve actually been able to lose weight, and I’m curious to see what happens when I start eating appropriately, mixed with the appropriate amount of training to see the results. If you don’t know how to work out properly, get a trainer but besides that I’d recommend against them and to just find a good program to follow, and don’t be a I want to lose weight but gain muscle bro, I wish the trainers would of just told me how silly those goals are together and how un-realistic they are. You either build muscle or lose weight, I spent alot of money expecting them to know better. They did not, I had to teach my self. Overall all the people there now are new and might be better, but hopefully this might help someone. 🙂🤙

I love my home gym! I tried a year membership and have come such a long way in my physical fitness goals. I love the group fitness classes because they teach me so much about form & push me to work harder. The people who go there are nice and chill, and it's rarely too crowded. I have been coming to this gym for a year now and I have to say I have had an amazing experience. The staff is very kind, communicative, and helpful. There are multiple machines and free weights for access. I’ve gone to a couple gyms before coming and settling at Crunch Huntington Beach and I have to say this gym is extraordinarily better in every aspect. Only thing that I would criticize is that there is no hack squat machine which I would love to see be added to this gym. Long overdue review. This gym completely lacks the level of professionalism you would expect from a gym. I started going here 4 years ago and about 3 weeks ago was the final time. Management prior was amazing!!! Erene the general manager is literally the most terrible person you could possibly put in charge. This gym used to be so clean and welcoming. Now all the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting and unsanitary. The workout equipment is extremely dirty, dusty, and sweaty. She is also extremely rude. Rude is even an understatement. She has never once said hi or if she can be at any assistance. Instead she just works out her entire shift. The gym has completely gone to the floor. She shouldn't even be a janitor let alone a GM. I switched over to 24 hour in Bella Terra. A REAL gym with REAL staff who appreciate to be there.

2022 update: ever since the current management team took over, the quality and upkeep of this gym has taken a nose dive. Classes are no longer all that great. Don’t bother looking for a good Zumba class here.

Again, so much went wrong with the management change after reopening from COVID. The GM is not friendly and seems lazy to me. She will be at the front desk and not even look at you or say hi. Doesn’t take ownership of mistakes. For example, there was a new fitness class schedule produced and printed that introduced a coupe of new classes that apparently changed last minute. When asked what happened, she and other staff acted like we were crazy at first, then proceeded to blame it on unreliable new hires. All they needed to say was, “sorry, we hoped to start that class, but we were not able to secure the resource for it as planned. I’m glad you were excited about it, and we will continue to see how we can add that class.” Don’t expect any level of professionalism at this gym. It’s very sad to see this gym turn so badly so quickly.

The elliptical machines should be replaced, they are so bad. The branding on the front desk is being held on by tape. The staff seems to turn over a lot. Trash will be left in the same place for a whole week.

I've been a member of this gym since it opened in 2014, and my experience has always been mediocre because of kids gathering at every station and spend their time talking rather than working out while I wait over 25 mins for a platform.

BUT, I am writing this review because of an experience I had on July 2., 2022 with the yoga instructor. I was under the impression that if you are a paying member that NO ONE has special privileges over others, then again I am brown and Mexican so it could've been the reason why II had this experience in HB especially. I was using the peloton by the yoga floor while there was a session on. All I did was quickly grab a couple weights close by the entrance, and the yoga instructor disrespectfully tells me to not walk into the room because I was being disruptive. Never has anyone told me that because I am not in a session I do not have a right to walk into the room as a paying member. Currently looking at new gyms, because apparently your yoga instructors like to discriminate.

Solid gym, even at peak times it’s possible to get your workout in. Machines are fully functional at all times. Mens restroom is usually pretty gross. Wouldn’t ever shower there but Whatever it’s a gym restroom.

Staff would not let cancel my account over the phone and had take time out of my lunch break to do so. I’ve been going here consistently for the last three years. Every single person that works here is kind and helpful (best staff of any gym I’ve ever been to). Like a typical gym, it took repeated attempts and exasperating conversations over several weeks to get them to cancel my account.

Called and was given the run around -- "we cant cancel your acct over the phone"
emailed to cancel as instructed and was ignored, never got a reply or acknowledgement
showed up in person to cancel, was told it was cancelled, got billed a week later, turns out acct was never cancelled
Had to dispute charge with my CC
got an automated email from Crunch later notifying that my payment has been declined
Had to call again, but now the cancellation over the phone was allowed. Its like the "we cant cancel you over the phone" excuse is just an artificial roadblock they throw up in hopes of you giving up.

Edit: Replying to owner comment: I don't believe it. Gyms have been doing this for 50 years to retain customers, this is public knowledge. No one over at Crunch HB cared about my issue, my repeated attempts to cancel my account until I posted my review on Yelp and Google. Then they immediately became very concerned, contacted me, and offered to "make it right" (probably in exchange for me to take my review down as these companies typically do).

I told them that the review will stay up regardless.

I love the fact that their monthly memberships are incredibly reasonably priced and comparing them to other gyms I've had memberships with in the past I can honestly say the equipment and the quality of the equipment is top notch. Keep up the good work fellas and ladies LOL

Most clean and safe gym I have gone to during this pandemic. As soon as you enter they check your temperature. Everyone wears a mask and cleans their equipment after their done. I asked the employees if their has ever been an covid case inside the gym and they told me not a single one which is incredibly impressive. Staff are incredibly nice and humble people do not be afraid to ask them any questions or if you want to learn how to use a certain equipment they will gladly assist you. Overall very sanitary and clean gym!

Love this place! There is so much cleaning of the club it is crazy! If you see someone not wipe down, you can do it easily or ask a staff to clean it! Problem solved!!

Overall, this gym is a great value. However, I would not continue to go here during Covid-19 - here’s why.

1. At least 25% of people were not wearing their mask over their nose, or wearing a mask at all. I didn’t see one staff member correct this behavior.

2. I only saw 2 people in my hour here wipe down equipment after use.

3. All of the equipment does not appear to be 6 feet apart.

4. When I drove by last night, the gym was completely full. There were no lines at this location like the others, and it appears that’s because capacity is not being limited.

I would have liked so sign up at this gym, but it’s not safe to do so. It’s better to pay extra at a gym that is taking the pandemic seriously.

Disappointed that I was harassed by the employee/trainer multiple times about putting my muzzle back on after I was taking breath from my workout. I’m cancelled my membership after 7 years of coming to this gym, I’ve been here longer then any of the current employees/staff.

They have started to ask for a phone number from your free add on. They have a tendency to have a few broken treadmills and that can be a problem during busy times. Otherwise, friendly and clean.

Went to workout today. Always stretch after warming up on stationary bike before lifting weights. Entire Stretch out/turf area was occupied by a fitness class and a personal trainer. Attempted to stretch on unused edge of area but was kicked out by class instructor. I inquired at front desk about an area I can use to stretch. She basically pointed to the schedule for the classes that occupy the area and said sorry.
Totally unacceptable. If fitness classes and personal trainers are going to take up the entire area they should have an alternate space for the rest of the members to use.

My boyfriend and me have been going here for the last couple of years and we always liked it! We’re now going to the fountain valley location and we had to upgrade, Jacob helped me with process! Only PM class options are zumba and yoga. Half the treadmills are broken. Most machines dont connect to the TVs. TVs are only on news and sports. Management not receptive to suggestions and do not fix things in a timely manner.

I am Very disappointed, new staff all the time, poor customer service, class instructors are always changing, I wanted to cancel my membership in May the manager at that time convinced me to just freeze the account not knowing that they were still going to charged me annual fees in June, the General manager now had one of her staff memeners send me an email saying that they are not going to refund me the money I end up cancelling the membership anyways. Don't go to that gym find yourself another one save the headache. It is not worth it.

When I talked to the front desk about a concern I was told to discuss it with the manager, but the ladies said he did not care about much over there. And it turned out to be true, the manager is very unpleasant, negative, and rude person. Would not recommend this location.The selection of classes is poor. Personnel changes weekly.

Listen, all these people who don't like this gym in particular, seem like all they want is free free free. I honestly dont know why you would need a one day pass to "make sure" you want to go work out. Pretty self explanatory to me. Everyone is very nice and welcoming, and thats really all that matters. If your opinions are different, go pay 32/mo at 24hr.

I would rate 0 stars I have tried to cancel my membership...no phone calls returned no emails replied to. Just the same B.S. over and over. They keep stealing money from my account. They don't send you email reminders like a real company dose. They don't explain any of the contract to you. Just sign here sign there. What a crooked and scanless business practice they have. I'm going to file a complaint with the BBB City of Huntington beach. State of California and my bank! They are thief's and very unprofessional. I can't believe that this kind of place exsist in today's world. Please run from the Crunch in Huntington beach. Before they rip you off Too!
