Overpriced, free day pass or 3 day free pass is only for SAN FRANSISCO sitizens, they don't say it anywhere they will tell you on reception even when you fill out their online free day pass.

$35 for a day pass is an exorbitant price for the limited weight and machine selection. Gym is not that clean, machines are tired, and cramped space.

visited for a single-day pass and had a great experience. The process was quick and convenient, and the facilities were clean and well-maintained. The gym wasnโt crowded, which made it easy to get a good workout without waiting for equipment. Overall, a smooth and enjoyable visit โ perfect for anyone looking for a hassle-free workout option.

This is a CORPORATE culture club, meaning if you have any other Crunch Fitness membership, even the highest in another state, you will have to pay to use their facilities / work out here.
10$ members 12.50$ guests
The prices starts there and goes up.
Ask for a robe at the front desk. They have an outdoor roof top pool. 3 lap lanes which you have to reserve.
A sauna and steam room. The ONLY Crunch in the SF area to have a steam or sauna.

This is the worst predatory gym! I started my Crunch Fitness membership in 2019 after being referred by a friend to Crunch Embarcadero. A couple of years later, that location closed down, and my membership was transferred to Crunch Montgomery, fine. In 2024, Crunch Montgomery closed down, and very well, they forged my signature into a contract with Crunch Yerba Buena. I stopped going to the gym after years of dealing with their locations closing or offering inadequate gym hours. Last time I set foot in their gym was over six months ago. In January 2025, I received a notice by collection company on behalf of Crunch Yerba Buena attempting to collect unpaid membership dues for a service I did not use in over six months!!!!! The audacity! The predatory capitalism that is gym. Not only did they fail to improve my actual fitness or goals due to their constant gym closures. Now, they're actually hurting me financially and mentally. My advice: Do not come. Take your money elsewhere! To gym that actually values your fitness and your mental well-being, not just trying to target your wallet.

I absolutely love Crunch Fitness YB! From the moment I stepped in, I was struck by the positive energy of the place. The people here are incredibly sweet, and the staff goes above and beyond to create an encouraging and supportive environment. They are always patient, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping members achieve their goals.
The facilities are outstandingโclean, well-managed, and maintained with incredible attention to detail. Everything from the equipment to the overall gym atmosphere shows how much care and effort the team puts into creating a great experience for members.
A special shoutout to Kristin, the manager, who truly exemplifies what great leadership looks like. She is attentive, friendly, and always ready to listen to feedback or lend a helping hand. Her dedication and passion for the gym make it an even more welcoming place to work out.
I highly recommend Crunch Fitness YB to anyone looking for a gym with a supportive community, amazing facilities, and a team that genuinely cares about its members!

I joined almost a year ago and posted (on yelp I think) about how I enjoyed using their outdoor space to do kettle bell exercises since not many people used that outdoor space. Being outside in the evening allowed me to stay cool and avoid the crowds. Soon after they added a lot of exercise equipment to that section lol. Maybe it was just a coincidence, but I like to think I had something to do with it. Now they added a canopy to protect you and the workout equipment. I think it looks really good. I really appreciate this gym, itโs small but somehow they make all the important stuff work.

Solid gym, clean facility, friendly staff, and a great value. In a city where there are very few deals to be had, Crunch Yerba Buena is a great value. I strength train 3x per week here and swim 1-2x per week in their outdoor pool, which while slightly short at only 23 yards, is a hidden gem. Street parking is easy to find on Harrison although does increase total cost. If you can walk here you are golden.

UPDATE: Been a member since 2021. Staff is friendly and nice, really get along well with them! Classes have great instructors. Usually there are weights available, and women's bathroom with sauna is typically clean.
Some men that go to this gym, however, can be very intrusive, and have no sense of personal space. There have been various times where I use a machine, a guy (I hate to say this, but in my experience, it's been Indian men) asks when I'll be done (normal), but won't leave me alone (stays within a 3-4 ft radius facing me to ask again and again). It also gets super packed (wasn't like this 2 years ago), not everyone cleans after themselves, and some people forget that deodorant exists (!!)
I used to come here 3-4x/week. I don't go as often because I don't feel my space is respected anymore. Crunch, if you see this, anything you can do? I'm sure I'm not the only woman who has experienced this.
---
I've been on the market for a new gym and trainer for a couple of months now and after checking out around 7 gyms, Crunch won: their authentic, engaging customer service (Jonathan) and genuine care for the client (personal trainer Vince) who went above and beyond in accommodating my needs with my goals and budget earns them a solid 5 stars from me. They have AC with filters and members are conscious in keeping things clean, wearing masks, and keeping social distance protocols.
There are group fitness classes on and offline and people are really so considerate!
Looking forward to connecting with the rest of the Crunch community around the city!

This gym has a history of lewd and inappropriate behavior in the men's steam room.
I discovered this because I was falsely accused of such an incident. After reaching out to the manager to understand why my membership was randomly terminated, they claimed an employee identified me in the steam room during the incident. When I explained that they have certainly misidentified me, they shared that they have had many of these instances lately and were trying to figure out how to stop it. Given I have never stepped inside the steam room, our only conclusion is the employee was racially profiling me.
I would strongly advise against joining the Yerba Buena location with the current management.

Not a large space but has everything you need! I especially like that they have newer treadmills (the kind where you can push buttons 1-12 for speed and steepness), a pool, and sauna/steam room!
Itโs nice that you can call ahead a day in advance to reserve a time slot for the pool as well :)

Unprofessional Admins and Small Gym - I've been a member of this gym for a couple years. I would steer clear of this gym as the admin/operations team in this organization is highly unprofessional and disorganized. During the cancellation process, I had sent a written notice in person to the facility, called, and also emailed on multiple occasions to the support email, and was still charged for the next 3 months for various monthly memberships. Ended up having to dispute with my CC company. Never had any of these issues with the other gyms in SF (SF Fitness, 24, Equinox), so I would suggest you attend a different gym. The Equipment in this is very limiting, but the reason I stayed for the 2 years was because the location was walking distance to the place I resided.
If any feedback to management, it would be to allocate some money and properly train their employees, attention to detail is VERY lacking. Not surprised this location has a bad rating.

They are downgraded and do not care about their members. Mr. Martinez made my first impression about this place in 2020 and I was a happy member during those few years. However, after I made a membership freeze during my school and decided to be back was like a nightmare. Their manager Kristen was very unwelcome towards me. I was so happy to be back and when I came they gave me a hard time during the check-in. Later on, I felt a different dynamic that's they are into quantity and not quality. They put their machines very close to each other. Before their members were very respectful towards each other, now they have so many guys who just ready to fight for using their machines and not be patient or find some alternative. During those 3 years I have never had any problems and it used to be my favorite gym. However, after I was mentally and physically abused by their member (some tall white guy) & very unprofessional manager Kristen I decided to cancel this membership. I would say they are the same level as 24 hours fitness at this moment, I would not suggest you to sign up for their membership. Please, avoid it!
However, I would like to say that your Front desk agent - Asian young lady is very professional and kind person during those 3 years, the housekeeper- a Latino lady who is such a hardworking person, and Mr. Martinez who was nice and professional during 2 years since I was there. When they sent him to Union Square location it was a time when this location was falling apart.

All the machines you need, separate studio for classes, swimming pool, steam room, and sauna facilities. Living in the area, Crunch is extremely convenient for me. Can't wait to check out some other locations of theirs too which specialise in classes, weights, etc. They have a branch in the city that used to be a theatre too (extremely artsy). They also have a free trial like other gyms, so check it out!
The rates for Crunch (especially if you opt for 1 gym) are pretty competitive too for the high standard of equipment on-site.

On my very first visit to this gym, I had a maintenance man walk in on me TWICE in the womenโs locker room, once while I was actually in the shower, and then a SECOND time when getting dressed in the main locker room area. When I mentioned this to the front desk and the manager on duty, she was extremely dismissive of my concerns, borderline rude, going so far as to imply that it was somehow my fault for not having an appointment to visit the gym. I understand, miscommunications happen, but a month later, I have still not heard a word from crunch, any of its management, or any sort of apology or acknowledgement about what happened. Itโs a shame, because I fully intended to sign up for a membership at this visit.

I recently had to leave the gym however because over time the music just kept getter louder and louder to the point I had to turn the volume of my podcasts all the way up just to be able to discern them. This gym is incredibly unfairly reviewed. I've been a member at Crunch Fitness - Yerba Buena for over half a year now and out of all the gyms I have been to San Francisco, Crunch provides the best amenities, service, and equipment for the best value and I've been a member at Equinox, World Gym, and a handful of other fitness studios in the area. Their Operations Manager, Yessica and GM, Jonathan have been very accommodating to all my needs and quick to respond to any questions I had about my membership. The gym is constantly getting remodelled and upgraded. On top of the state of the art equipment, the gym has a superb cleaning staff. Toilets, showers are spotless. One of my favorite things to do at Crunch is go into the steam room for 20 minutes and finish it off with a cold shower. The studio space that they have is very unique and teachers like Michael and Tony are experts in their fields of flexibility/iyengar yoga, which is very unique to find at a commercial gym like this. Do not be fooled by the small space, I've never had to wait to take a shower or use the racks/machines. Best gym in San Francisco by a landslide. (Pro Tip: Ask about special rates, discounts, and deals)

Overall decent to good experience with my all clubs membership. I haven't stepped into the gym in over a year mainly due to covid and intermittent closings. I have been a member for over a decade, so I would hope they would appreciate the loyalty and utilize me for potentially bringing more members to them by offering some type of credit on account. I'll suggest some options as Equinox is desperately trying to recruit me to their family.

Disappointed after seeing all these reviews about Crunch kept charging their members and selling membersโ personal information to debt collector during Covid.
People were not aware that they were being charged during Covid. Why canโt you just cancel their membership if you fail to charge their credit card? Why did you have to sell their personal sensitive information to collector and ruin their credits? And let collectors harassing them?
If you read these stories, itโs really horrible. I will not come to Crunch again unless and until these evil practices are stopped and these issues are addressed

I hate to leave a negative review during Covid, but I'm afraid this one is warranted.
I have been an All Crunch (nationwide, all clubs) member at Crunch Fitness for years. Despite my all-access, I've really only visited the Yerba Buena location, as it's one block from my house.
Despite that loyalty, they have been incredibly unfriendly during the pandemic. When they had to close, they paused my membership without apology. Of course, they were forced to do so - but something more customer friendly like a note or future credit would be nice.
But worst, when they reopened, there was little notice and they started charging my credit card again. When I found out, I asked them to pause my account. And 3 months later, they began charging again. And then 3 months later, they raised their rates.
I've now paid $821.64 during the Covid pandemic and and haven't stepped foot in Crunch once.
I called to ask if they could pause my account and refund the charges - no. Long story short, after back and forth, the best they could offer was a credit for two months - after paying for 10 months without visiting once.
I have many other complaints with this location. Just a couple:
-- Every time I bring a guest to Crunch, they offer my guest a lower rate than I'm currently paying (in front of me). It's clear they have no standardized pricing. I've since asked my friends what they pay, and (literally) ten people all paid different amounts for the same membership.
-- The Yerba Buena location is a glorified condo gym. It's inside the Museum Parc condo complex and is quite small.
-- This location is generally not the most clean. Expect strong smells of BO in all corners of the gym and avoid the showers at all costs.
-- I've almost been injured several times on the treadmills, which are not well maintained. While running at high speeds, the motor sometimes jerks, throwing you off the treadmill.
To be honest, I just hope that this review contributes to Crunch going out of business and closing this location - so a better gym can take it's place. Until then, I'll happily pay more AND walk another 2 blocks just to go somewhere else.

Good luck canceling your membership and expect a call from a debt collector after canceling. I made multiple attempts to cancel my membership in person, on the phone, and via email. After finally canceling and confirming with the gym staff that my account was settled, I received multiple calls and letters from their debt collector saying that I still owed Crunch money. I contacted the gym and asked for a statement showing what I owed but never received clarification on why my account was overdue. After months of back and forth with Crunch and harassment from the debt collector, I finally just paid the alleged balance due. After this experience, I will never rejoin Crunch and recommend staying away from this chain of gyms.

I recently joined because they have a small but cozy outdoor lap pool. Itโs a three lane 25 meters. I struggle finding outdoor pools open in the city so I was driving to Palo Alto just to be able to swim and after an awful encounter with fitness sf Fillmore location that truly demoralized me I was skeptical to join any gym but the outdoor swimming experience along with the ability to use their clean linens and swimming robes and just take deep breaths in their lounge chairs under the sun in the pool area, gave me the tranquility to join and so far so good.
I have read the bad reviews and since they seem parallel to my rip off prior gym experience, I think itโs time to advocate locally and state wide for laws protecting consumers from predatory gyms contracts.

Avoid this location at all costs.
Once Covid started, I had asked to cancel my membership. The representative told me it was taken care of, and never followed up.
Come November, and I get a call saying I owe $150 for overdue balance. It turns out Crunch had tried to bill me twice without giving any notice, despite me being told my membership had been cancelled.
Again, speaking on the phone with a representative, I was told my account had not been cancelled after all, and that this time it was. I was also told I would have to pay the overdue balance only upon rejoining.
Low and behold, two months later I get a call from a debt collector saying I owe Crunch $150.
So Crunch not only lied about cancelling my membership, they lied about me not having to pay it until I rejoin, and then issued a debt collection behind my back. No warnings or communications were given for any of this.
What theyโre doing is illegal, unethical, and immoral. After three years of membership, Iโll never be coming here again. You can keep the $150, as itโs not nearly as much as you would have made from me rejoining. Iโll also be pursuing legal action.
This situation has been a common occurrence, and you can do a quick search online to see Iโm not the only one with this issue. Avoid this location at all costs.

Terrible billing, confusing messaging and unhelpful personnel. Got told we wouldnโt be charged, then got charged anyway and now theyโre saying this is our fault. Have to dispute the transaction through the bank now.
Update: They sent the payment to collections and refuse to provide a refund or anything. Complete fraud and extortionists.

I moved and I've been trying to cancel my membership since May. No one answers the phone, no one answers emails, and corporate gives me the run-around. Not worth it. Don't blame COVID -- the gym has been open during the 6-month window I've tried to cancel.
EDIT: I emailed as instructed in Crunch's response below. The auto-reply stated that they cannot help me.

Please please stay away from joining crunch, they will keep charging you illegally, even if you cancel your membership and not listen to your refund requests and take away your hard earned money, the location itself is pretty small and crowded. The worst customer experience ever with a gym membership

They're billing me without permission, and not responding to support emails at all.
I joined a few months before quarantine. The gym was good, the sauna was good, overall I was happy with the experience. When quarantine started, they closed down.
I emailed to ask them to cancel my membership. They sent back an automated reply, and didn't acknowledge my request. Two weeks ago, they said they're re-opening. Again, I sent them an email to cancel my membership.
This time there was no response at all. Then, they billed me TWICE. I sent them yet another email, and again, received no response. I've emailed through both the website contact form, and their email directly.

I paid for personal training at the beginning March and found out the next day they overcharged. I received confirmation that they would apply it to my account, however I decided 4 days later that I wanted to cancel the sessions before evening scheduling or completing 1 session and emailed the manager to request a cancellation and refund, in which I never heard back....then the social distancing and closing happened shortly after due to the pandemic, so I waited a month until everyone got a sense of what was happening. Then I continued to follow-up and check in for a response and received none from a manager of this location.
Then proceeded to try contacting multiple help@ and info@ emails, since those were the only forms of contact that were provided from the company. Finally I receive a response from someone and was able to speak with them over the phone and he came to the conclusion I should be able to receive the refund but that I needed to wait till they reopened. Now we are 4 months later and a good chunk of their gyms around the country have reopened yet still no refund.
Now to add to that I have also moved and have been trying to cancel my membership on top of this....yet still no response?!?!
This should be considered a scam that a large gym corporation does not have the capability to respond to members nor cancel memberships within a 5 month timeframe, when they move and are not within 60 miles of a gym nor refund when they where overcharged AND cancelled within the grace period.
Definitely do not recommend this gym...go with Planet Fitness, 24 Hour or LA Fitness. Iโve been a member at all 3 throughout my life in various areas Iโve lived in and never had any issues such as these.

Crunch Fitness is a real scam.
I would not recommend signing up with Crunch Fitness. If there are any issues that you need to contact corporate or their customer service members, beware as their customer service number does not work. When you finally find an email to contact their customer service, they are unprofessional, will not help, or will contact back. Best of all, any contracts that you agree and sign that the gym will be sent to email but have a time of expiration. So if you don't view your email of the sent contract right away, you do not have a copy.
I had signed up for personal training sessions in August 2020. I was unsure of how long I would stay in San Francisco but I was told if I relocate I could get a refund on the unused training sessions. Fast forward in November 2020 I knew that I would move the following year and gave a heads up to the manager which again told me I would be refunded.
Due to the COVID-19, I had move immediately. I contacted the manager, which was a new manager and had no information on the talk of the refund with the previous manager, gave me a customer service email.
Emailing the Crunch Fitness Customer Service Member felt like we were just going in circles and nothing has been resolved. I was told I could not get a refund due to being passed an expiration date that was never mentioned until now. Even though I was told by managers from 2 Crunch Fitnesses and stated in their contract that if I move more than 25 miles from a Crunch Fitness I would get a refund of my unused sessions. I have 11 unused sessions left (about $800) and the nearest Crunch Fitness is 30 miles away. During this time of crisis, this company does not stand by its consumers. It is stressful to know that I will not get the proper help, attention, and money back.
The ethics of this company is not worth the anyone's headache.

Super friendly staff. Excellent working machines and plenty of weights.
Clean and fresh ambience with towel service and plenty of room in locker area.
Swimming pool with sunbathing chairs, 3 lanes in pool and access to 1 person per lane per 30 minutes.
Outdoor working out area with mats and stairs.
Plenty of cardio machines.
Steam room and sauna room as well as 3 showers and a handicap shower. Thereโs also a shower in steam room to cool down while in there.
I love this gym better than 24 hour fitness as itโs superior in quality and service.
Also has 3 restrooms, 3 hand sinks, 2 blow dryers. Hand soap, lotion, q-tips, mouthwash, shampoo, body wash and conditioner.
2 Filtered drinking water stations.
A small Crunch gym shop with workout gear and goodies.
All you need to bring is your workout clothes and locker.
Membership is around $80 a month.

This gym is in a good location, but that's pretty much all it has going for it.
I had to call multiple times to cancel my account, until I finally appeared in person and was told I would receive a call back from a "manager". I then saw after I cancelled my account, that they claimed I still owed $89. I paid the money because it would be even more time consuming to dispute the matter, but I am not happy with the cancellation policy and the extra charge at the end of my membership.
There are not many machines or weights, especially given the high cost of membership. If you are planning on visiting this gym in prime hours, expect to have to wait to use machines. It is also very crowded in the small free-weights section.
Unfortunately there are not too many reasonably priced gyms in the area. I'm currently at Planet Fitness, which is a much further walk, but the price is 50% what Crunch costs, and I get access to all the Planet Fitness gyms in the country! Also, it is much cleaner, spacious, and has more weights and machines. Try that gym instead.

Where do I begin with this dumpster fire of a gym?
1. The showers are routinely filled with hand soap instead of body wash.
2. The steam room was being cleaned at 8 am, during peak use.
3. I asked for a cancellation and still got charged. After I requested a refund, I got charged AGAIN.

Tried to get there to lap-swim. Called first to know, was told to pass by (luckily I was close by) to discover they have 2 lanes that are reserved in 30' slot to ONE person at the time (each). Reserveation is possible only one day in advance, so call in the morning for the day after. Need to purchase daily pass for swimming, no idea of the price..

Crowded and definitely on the smaller side, but the outdoor heated pool (22 yards) makes it worth it to sign up for this location.
Pool lanes must be booked online, and only for one 30 minute interval per day, but you can keep swimming if people don't show up for their reserved times (which happens often).
Don't forget to ask about corporate discounts as they have special pricing for alot Bay Area companies.

The facility is small compared to some of the other Crunch gyms in the City. There's plenty of treadmills, elliptical, and stair machines (only 2 row machines). There 2 squat racks, which is all they can fit, and 1 Smith Machine. Their cable machines are limited in functionality, but for basic stuff, will do the job as long as you go when it's not crowded. Also, most of their weight machines are the 'Roc-It' kinds by Hoist, which aren't my favorite (the Roc-It's move the seat raises & lowers when you move the weight stack). There's a sufficient hard wood floor area for classes and can be used as additional space to work-out if there's no class. Also, this Crunch has a pool for lane swimming (or sun bathing), something the other SF Crunch gyms don't have. With all that said, it's like a nice apartment gym - not a lot of room (when crowded) but at least has some equipment to do a decent workout.

The person who works as a member council and the front desk lady was very rude. The yoga is pretty good (Trainer: Toby). But overall there are other better gyms in area. Equinox, orangetheory etc. But in the end all that matters is how staff behaves because machines and equipment's are available in almost every gym in this area.

Nice small gym for location. Nice staff. Though the billing department has been messy with our discontinuation of one member of our family and not another.
Many months later and they are now charging us many months after I cancelled because I could not produce proof of cancellation. Which they never gave me. They had me sign a release and conviently lost it. Be sure to get proof and check you account that they aren't still charging you. I anticipate we aren't the only ones being wrongly charged. *Do not recommend setting up automatic payments at all.

False advertising. Rude staff. I tried a down town location (Yerba Buena), I received a follow up email with a sales promotion to join at a discounted price and be able to use their wider network. I joined. The confirmation email stated "Lakewood" -- somewhere close to Los Angeles. It's beyond me why they would sell me a membership restricted to one gym and so far away. It took me ~30 minutes of phone calls until they issued a refund at Lakewood. The Yerba Buena front desk manager simply put me on a busy signal rather than even transferring without any sympathy or apology. I was interested in purchasing a membership at Yerba Buena. I will no longer be doing that.

Not worth the price (80$):
At the beginning very friendly, after signing the contract very bad costumer support and service. I scheduled an personal training appointment 2 times with Justin Sharp. Both times he didn't show up. First time he excused. Second time nothing. Also officially the gym offers a towel service, but most of the times you can't find any towels in the man's room :(.
Additionally, they offer sauna and steam, but many people enter the sauna with clothes... So, all in all avoid this gym!

Started working out the "right" way on 12 Jan 2016. Goals are to build a foundation/improve posture, build lean muscle, and lower my body fat percentage. Many of my friends responded with:
"Fat?? Work out? why?? you're 100 lbs.. um, shutup"
---However, I knew there was a HUGE problem when I couldn't walk up a couple flights of stairs without getting winded or have my legs burning when I got to the top, or even pick up my 40 lb dog was a total struggle. Not to mention my energy level everyday was PATHETIC....wanting to nap multiple times a day, even after waking up after an hour or two.
I walked into Crunch hoping to find someone who could help turn me from a "fat-skinny" girl with no definition, to a healthy looking chick. (It's really okay to not know what you're doing at the gym) ASK FOR HELP- You're probably doing your work out wrong even if you think you aren't.
So, if anyone needs a fire lit under their butts to get started here are my results After less than one month working with Bente Geronimo:
working out 3-4x/week, in addition to not consuming donuts and chocolate milk on the reg. (But not altering my diet too much- I still enjoy my sweets!)
-Lost 2 mm from my triceps (ladies: the flappy wings)
-Lost 9 mm in my subscapularis (back fat)
-Lost .5 inches from my waist
-Skin fold total decreased from 60 to 47.
-% of Body fat went from 29.10 to 25.75! My overall goal: 20%
-Gained 1 inch on my buttocks!!!! In less than 1 flipping month. Without massive diet change, I was working out and having fun with Bente and saw results quick and felt SO much stronger.
While, I am still in the 'foundation' phase of training, I am thankful to have such a supportive gym family and trainer. I went from cardio girl- not knowing what the hell im doing to walking in the gym with major confidence to do the best work outs in the short time I have. Bente is definitely my go-to gal and I hope from this she can change someone else's health as well.
