I've been coming to this club for a month now, almost daily. I am very impressed with the facility and the personnel. The trainers are amazing and the classes are very good. It's fun and I already see results! Thank you!!!!

Came here in between business meetings, and was very disappointed with the facility, especially compared to the San Mateo location. I expected to take a shower, however they do not provide towels at this location which was a surprise. However the manager at the desk (in a white shirt) was cool and welcoming.

I recently cancelled l my subscription because it seems that maintenance was really poor. The gym was really smelly, not enough cleaning supplies for the machines, the bathrooms were also dirty, the trash containers are always full and soap dispensers were always empty. I think overall maintenance is needed and more cleaning of the facilities.

The front desk is never helpful, just basically young kids looking at their cellphones.

Rating for the group of front desk personnel today. At 9:30am I mentioned to a group of 3 that two of the paper towel dispensers were out. 10:30am still did not refill them. They were all chatting. I am sure other customers have brought it to their attention.

I am a big fan of crunch fitness as I was a member for 5 years in Michigan. Loved it there. Now I am in the Bay Area where it’s more busier, they have only 2 benches for bench press. Just 4 other benches for dumbbells and just three squat racks. Only option you have if you want to exercise without waiting like 15-20 mins is go in odd hours like middle of the day.
I would highly recommend them to add few more benches and one or two squat racks and machine for glutes.

the gym is alright, very busy at peak times that there’s often a decent wait for any weightlifting, cable machines etc. but I’m writing here about my experience with management
I used to be an active member here until I moved away, despite talking with a manager and saying that all the fees associated with my membership (not being used) were wiped out they still have a collection agency trying to contact me. it’s pretty clear they don’t care as much about you as they do the money.

I was traveling in the area and checked in as a Crunch member. It was certainly not my five-star home gym experience (not a Crunch Signature either), but it did the job. As a first-time visitor here, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly in getting me checked in as their scanner and automated gate (cool) are different than ours.

My main thing with this gym is the lack of cleanliness. As far as I could tell, there was a single roll of paper towels on the wall, with one bottle of spray solution. Since this is super inconvenient - you guessed it - very few members were wiping down their equipment. Crunch Sunnyvale needs a substantial upgrade in this capacity. Add to that, the gym was packed with people. High crowd + low clean = no bueno.

I definitely feel that this gym was almost assuredly a gym conversion, from a previous brand to Crunch. Some of the equipment is fairly new and well maintained, but the HIIT area needs a major upgrade. I thought it was weird they had almost no foam rollers at all. Also, the kettlebells had to be the weirdest kettlebells I’ve ever used or seen in my life. They were like comically huge and balloon-sized, but they did the job I suppose.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in town. I just recommend someone with decision-making power put a little thought into putting cleaning stations throughout the gym like other Crunch locations have. There was a high grody factor.

Misleading staff, unauthorized charges, and zero accountability.

I signed up under a promotion promising no annual or enrollment fees and chose the Base membership. Staff pushed me into trying Plus for $1, saying I could downgrade later — which I did, in person, before the next billing.

Still, they charged me $84, even though I was already shown as a Base member. I never used the gym, canceled the same day I saw the charge, and was told only $18 could be refunded — no explanation, no responsibility.

This place is unprofessional, disorganized, and borderline deceptive. Their promotional offers are a trap, and they take advantage of unclear communication to bill you for services you never received.

Save yourself the trouble — go somewhere that respects your time, your money, and basic customer rights.

Unbelievable that they don’t have foam rollers. Only soft gray or spikes ones, no regular ones. Also no single-handle attachments for the pulley machines. Will upgrade my rating if they get these because it’s otherwise a nice gym. But another issue is only 2 free weight bench press and they’re always occupied. Dozens of always empty cardio machines but benches are always unavailable.

Edit 5/20, upgrade to 3 stars because they now have some single handed pulley grips

Extremely dishonest gym. We signed a contract for only three months of personal training but they kept charging us after the initial three months ($960 a month) claiming we didn’t cancel even though we were told that it was for only three months. They also moved our trainer to a new location and we were told that to keep continuity, we can split our sessions between the old location and the new location. We were then charged an additional $600 for personal training at the new location which they now claim to be a separate entity though we have never given the new location our credit card information and split our training at their bequest and was told that we could do so!!! After multiple phone calls, in person visits, and tons of emails, they are refusing to refund. We are now in the process of filing complaints with the BBB and DCA

Probably one of the worst gyms I’ve ever been to.

Equipment is light. Missing a couple major pieces of equipment, including major things like D rings for the cables. What gym doesn’t have D rings for the cables?

It’s absolutely packed, which is I guess what you get for the price. Classic 5 broccoli cut high school kids gathered around one machine for an hour.

Never have I seen so many gym weirdos. One dude was on a crunch machine moaning every time he did a rep. Another dude took, and I timed this, an hour and a half on the one racked leg press machine. One of my coworkers even got choked out by a random guy at one of the crunch locations.

Obviously it’s Crunch so expect a bunch of random fees and terrible cancellation. Reached out to management to cancel and instead of canceling they asked “Why” and when I said I was moving out of state I got ghosted. Expect annual fees and enrollment fees and weird month to month cancellation.

Only reason it’s not 2 stars is because you get what you pay for and the gyms in the bay area kind of all suck anyway.

They don’t train their front desk staff to properly explain memberships and contracts. I signed up during a promotion period & was told MULTIPLE times by the front desk I was working with - that my annual would be waived. It was not waived and I was charged the amount. Since it is in the contract that the annual is never waived, apparently it means absolutely nothing that I confirmed at least 6 times my annual was waived under this promotion face to face with a literal person telling me it is waived. If you want to hold someone so hard to a contract, make SURE your staff is explaining things CORRECTLY. I read the contract and still confirmed with staff that it would waived. Not only do they have awful service with awful attitudes but the gym smells like a boys locker room. Sweat & filth. No one is wiping anything down. Machines full all the time. Treadmills broken. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

I was a paying customer for a long time.
But customer service is not good.

It was very frustrating how something as simple as pausing a membership required Multiple emails and in person visits. And then also, I was charged for that month. Without reimbursement.

This isn’t the first time either—I had a similar experience a few months ago when I tried to downgrade my membership and got charged a higher rate .

Not a great look for customer service.

I went to the gym to try it again as a former member, but they didn’t let me in. Many other gyms allow trial access for even a week, yet I was denied entry despite being a previous member. The email address is bogus! You are going to regret how you treat people. I will be there later today and I will not be very quiet about my dissatisfaction until you refund the erroneous charge of $33.49 you brazenly charged me. Every member entering your facility will hear about this until that refund is processed and you can ask the guy at Site for Sore Eyes if I am joking.

The FTC just announced that if you joined online, you must be able to cancel online, but Sunnyvale Crunch believes it is above all that legal stuff. You cannot even speak with a real person when you call. After cancelling my membership in May 2024, they charged me for 2 months in August 2024 ($33.49). I purchased a year membership at Cupertino Sports Center on June 3, 2024. No sense of right and wrong, just ripping people off as much as they can.

Yeah, you lost 4 stars. So sad that a multimillion dollar company needs to stoop to these tactics. They cancelled my membership, then they started charging my credit card several months later. Read the other comments, not unusual. More like Crush, than Crunch.

I was a dedicated member of Crunch for over a year, but my experience was consistently negative. The equipment was frequently broken or in disrepair, making it difficult to get a proper workout.

My first and last experience with personal training was a nightmare. The trainer (Lexi) was aggressive leading to a shoulder dislocation during my very first session. The gym's response to the incident was shockingly inadequate. It took them an excessive amount of time to locate a first aid kit and ice pack. I ended up needing an ambulance and was left to deal with the aftermath on my own.

The gym has never reached out to me to apologize or offer any support. I've had to repeatedly contact them to resolve the issue, and the entire ordeal has been incredibly traumatic. I'm still undergoing physical therapy and dealing with the ongoing effects of my injury.

While the gym membership may be affordable, it's simply not worth the risk. I strongly advise potential members to look elsewhere for a safe and reliable gym.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP HAVING THE HIIT AND THE REC AREA OCCUPIED AT THE SAME TIME!!

The gym is only good for the price. Too many cardio equipment and not enough weight lifting equipment. They don’t stagger classes so there’s yoga and a HITT class happening at the same time with no where else to stretch or do abs if needed. The staff doesn’t regularly check things. It takes forever for equipment to get fixed, the water filter to be replaced or to even replace paper towels. I just wish they cared a little more about this place to have it not be this chaotic. It’s a ridiculous

Although I rarely write reviews, I felt compelled to share my experience at Crunch Fitness in Sunnyvale, CA.

From the moment I walked in, one staff member named Chloe made a lasting impression with her professionalism, emotional intelligence, and genuine dedication. Unfortunately, I had to ignore the other associates at the desk due to their inappropriate attitude and demeanor, which I knew from experience was best not to engage with. Despite this, the welcoming atmosphere and outstanding support from Chloe made the enrollment special, which I typically find expensive, worthwhile.

Kudos to Chloe at Crunch Fitness for making a positive impact and fostering such a supportive environment. Your efforts truly make a difference, and I'm grateful for the experience.

Everything is fine and the price is great… until you want to cancel. After most definitively canceling my membership in person YEARS ago and leaving the area, I received a debt collection notice out of the blue claiming I owed dues. If you cancel- make sure you cover your bases and document, document, document!!! Written evidence, photo evidence, witnesses, etc. Make sure the evidence is airtight. I sincerely regret ever signing up for this gym, the headache has greatly exceeded any benefit I ever got. I hope the actions of gyms such as Crunch encourage CA legislators to take action and further protect consumers.

Impossible to find a spot in the morning HIIT class, which fills out in milliseconds when the reservations open 22 hrs prior. Today is the first day of my 3-day free trial. I arrived at 6:20pm, peak time, obviously. First impression: the space is huge (compared with my current gym, I plan to cancel my membership there because it’s too far away) , and full of people. You can barely find a spare machine. But overall my impression is pretty good: staff is nice and accommodating, restroom/locker room is clean, place is crowded but people are peaceful, and the Zumba class was fun. I forgot to bring my shampoo, happy to find they provide free shower amenities. I’m glad I took the trial. I was told that early morning and late evening are the best time with fewest people. Will come around 9pm tomorrow to see how it is.

Update: my second free trial day. Arrived at 9pm-ish, the place is 60-70% full, which is pretty good. Easily found the machine I wanted to use. Left at 10:40pm, still , 10-15% of the facilities were in use. They close at 11pm.

There are only 2 showers in women’s, but most people don’t shower here, so it’s ok. There’s no hair dryer there, so you need to bring your own if it’s necessary for you.

Been a member here for 3 years now. Best thing about this gym is the price, hands down. Management and the staff here are a downside; usually open late, small things like paper towels are empty or spray bottles don’t work. All cable machine attachments are on their last legs. Bike foot straps haven’t been replaced in months. Waaaaay too many treadmills and cardio machines. Not nearly enough benches.

My one piece of feedback is to please stagger the HIIT classes and the Rec Room classes on the weekend. Just about every weekend I come in there isn’t a place for people to warm up or stretch because both classes are going on. This just congests the rest of the gym.

October 23, 2023

Dear Crunch Fitness Manager, Officer, Agent or Principal,

On October 23, 2023, after my workout, (at roughly 6:45 AM) I went to the front desk and asked to cancel my daughter’s membership. Her name is XXXXXX XXXXXXXX (xxx) XXX-XXXX. She resides at the same address and as of this writing, is a minor. The woman at the counter asked if I just wanted to remove the card on file. I said, “sure”. Then as I thought about it, I said, “would that mess up our account”? She looked confused and said, “well, you will have to change the card”. I said, “well then, no, we don’t want to cancel the card, we just want to take her off”. She said, “Well, you have to send an e-mail to cancel her membership”. I said, “We didn’t need to send an e-mail to sign her up”. I said that “Paul” had canceled for us in the past and she said that he wasn’t supposed to. I said, “Well, I don’t have an e-mail”. She said, “Well, get one”…condescendingly. I said that I would cancel mine and my wife’s membership as well and we have been members for two years. She wasn’t moved by this.

I am writing to you today to inform you that I wish to cancel my daughter’s membership as well as my own. Effective immediately. The relevant information, including names, phone numbers and addresses, are above. I don’t appreciate doing business on single-sided, manipulative, terms and I would sooner pay 5x membership fees to avoid such interactions. All they had to do was cancel my daughter’s membership and if there is a fee, charge us whatever fee and that would have been the end of it. They didn’t have to be condescending and I shouldn’t have to jump through any hoops to cancel her membership.

If I am charged for another monthly dues/fees for either myself or my daughter, I will see you in small claims court.

Best Regards,

Do NOT use this gym (if you ever consider moving).

Poor management on membership cancellation and rude communications.

I needed to cancel my membership after moving. Went to the gym on 9/2 and got told I need to email to cancel. Sent my email on 9/4.

Got a response after one follow up email 3 days later notifying that I have to tell them on 9/2 (10 days before the next auto payment) to avoid paying for the next month, which I did in person. Told me that “Good news” that you get one additional month of access that I don’t need.

Tried to ask for a refund multiple times explaining the situation with rude responses like “read your agreement”, which isn’t even accessible online.

It’s only $16 and I don’t really care about the amount itself. But the responses from Natalia Richards (Crunch Operations) has been very upsetting and not respectful.

I rarely bother to write reviews but the operations of this gym is terrible.

Cancelling my membership after they installed the Amazon One handscanning gate, which is the only way to get in now. Tried to cancel online, the website said my account doesn’t exist and I need to go in to the location to cancel. I went in to the location, the person at the desk told me to login from the app (which I never needed and am not going to download) instead of the website. So Crunch’s website is glitching or they’re making it difficult on purpose? Hard to tell. Then they tell me to reach out to a manager by email and that they will cancel the membership for me. Overall very inconvenient and unnecessarily difficult just to cancel a membership. Very disappointed that Crunch is implementing the hand scan access and limiting options for people. Crunch just wants your money, they don’t care about making a good experience for you. I’m taking my business elsewhere.

Great facility. Is crowded a lot of the time. I wish they had more lifting platforms and bench press platforms because sometimes you have to wait for a while to use one. Otherwise the equipment is in good shape.

A good place to get a workout.

Cleanliness and maintenance are a challenge I'm sure, like this pivot bolt/sleeve on the seated row machine. Still an issue. (Attached picture) It's been reported three times that I'm aware of, and yet there it is. Looks like its important. Up to 345lbs on one end of a cable, and a varying bit of relatively unprotected flesh on the other end. What could go wrong?

Maybe a more frequent assessment of equipment and replenishment of supplies, cleanser, restroom supplies would be beneficial.

Generally a good vibe & pleasant staff.

I think 2 stars is too much for such a place. Very crowded, not enough machines or bumbles, not enough seats. I go to signature club and the difference is like galaxy wide

The staff could definitely be friendlier upon entrance and in general. There is limited space to do solo workouts without equipment. The ropes are blocked off in the private training section however, it should be open to everybody. I pay the highest tier of membership and I should be able to use any equipment I want at any time. I will say this gym is kept clean and the yoga room is very nice

Like the facility but their maintenance of the TV monitors is not the best. The one in front of the station where I normally pedal a stationary bike has been broken for months. And of the 5 bikes, three are not in great repair. Other than that, the staff is great.

The good:
- Price is unbeatable
- Gym reasonably clean
- Varied selection of equipment.
The bad:
- Their bench/free weight section is too small for how many people want to use it. Basically no matter what time of day you go you'll end up having to wait a bit for a bench which gets frustrating. In the end this was a deal breaker for me.

Pros:
*Great price
*Plenty freeweights equipment
*Friendly training staff
*Centric location if you live in Cupertino, Mountain View, or Santa Clara.

Cons:
*To many kids sitting and hugging the machines texting
*Machines can be down for repair for a long time, hence, you are paying to access equipment that is down for indefinite time (ex: deltoid fly machine broken for the past 7 months with no eta for repair, just to name one case - this sucks)
*Front counter staff is useless, with their heads looking at the phones.
*Small location, feels crammed.

Because the exercise machines are broken permanently (seems that way), and the lack of urgency to repair the equipment, you are better off looking at alternative CF locations or look for other gyms.

I used to like this gym - it is very clean and well equipped; friendly staff.
But recently certain changes changed my mind and I am probably going to cancel my membership.

Some equipment, that used to be easily accessible, later became available only at the front desk on demand; and these days they require to leave a deposit, like car keys or ID.

This means 2 things:
1) Annoyance to the members
2) Theft is happening and going unpunished, and I am also not sure my stuff in the locker or as a deposit is safe either

Predatory business practices. Won't let me cancel my membership even though I've been trying for a month. The customer service line tells you to email an email which doesn't exist and bounces back immediately. Extremely unhelpful service staff that were rude to me when I told them this problem. Would not recommend.

Just started a trial here although I've been to this place many times when my daughter has had a membership.
Great variety of machines so unless you're there at the rush hour, you can usually find a machine.
Some of the equipment looks a little bit tatty on the pads but otherwise it's in pretty good condition.
You can get a 3-day trial to check it out on their website.

Terrible experience with management at this gym. Called once to cancel my membership and they told me that I had to go in the gym to cancel my membership. Haven’t had time to go in because it’s 20 minutes away from where I live and it’s been a month. Now I go finally go in to cancel the membership and they say I have to do it through email. The cancellation policy is unclear and I was told several different things by different managers. Frustrating experience and a waste of my time.

A good gym with most of the equipment you will ever need. Staff is friendly and the interior is clean.

My main complaint is that there are only two flat bench presses and three Olympic platforms. If you want to use one of those, it is best to come during off hours. Otherwise, you may end up waiting for a while (unless you get lucky).

The customer service is horrible. I cancelled my personal training classes due to a travel for family emergency but my credit card was charged for 2 months(close to $300). Sent several emails and talked to them (more than 10 times) but no luck. Finally stopped calling them and cancelled my membership.

Ever wonder how can you possibly stuff 200 teenagers and unmannerly Californians into one building? Well just visit this place once, and see for yourself. It's nearly impossible to even work out effectively here, with kids tripping over each other, horseplaying/pushing each other into other equipment that other people are using. What a ridiculous disgrace. If you want to take fitness seriously, avoid this "day care center" for 'roided-up teens.

You re trapped if are going for personal training. I took PT for 3 months and once done they charged my credit card for fourth month , I immediately notified them before using PT for fourth month. But the PT manager denied refund on the ground that I haven't notified them 10 day's before billing. My question to Crunch management is, how could you renew a service without explicit consent from the customer? I am trying to find out a contact person in Crunch who can help me to resolve this issue. This is Crunch - Sunnyvale.

I’m so glad I found this place! I’m not by any means deep into fitness or body building, but I do need a place to fit in occasional workouts when I’m not busy with other activities. For the price, I’d say this place has the best offer out of any gyms in the area. They have all the equipment and weights I would need for the kind of strength training I do and having studio space to practice some dance, stretches, martial arts, etc is a huge plus. What’s even better is that this place has heavy bags for all the boxers and kickers out there. Staff is super friendly and welcoming. It can get a little crowded at times, so it might be in your favor to find a good time to go, or just be patient with people. Overall though, Crunch Fitness is worth it!
