This gym is a game-changer! The focus here is on building functional strength while fostering an incredible sense of community. I felt welcomed and supported by both the trainers and fellow members when I joined. The programming is thoughtfully designed, with workouts that challenge you at all levels.

The emphasis on proper form and injury prevention is refreshing, and the small group classes make it easy to connect with others as well. Highly recommend!

I've been going to classes for about 6 months now, and it has been even better than I had hoped for! I was already running and lifting on my own before joining DEFCON, but the classes at this gym have tested and challenged me in tons of new ways and led to much greater strength and fitness gains. I love the variation in workouts. The community there has also been so welcoming and fun, and I can really see how I was missing out on that when I was just working out on my own. The coaches are knowledgeable and patient. They're great at explaining and demonstrating the lifts and workouts for that day. I can't recommend DEFCON ATHLETICS enough!

Also, for my other ladies out there, please get some weight into your hands. It is the best thing for your overall health and strength. It is empowering and just plain fun! Hope to see you at DEFCON!

I've been attending DEFCON Athletics for 8 months now and have seen a noticeable difference in my body composition. As someone who enjoys endurance sports, I have always been intimidated by gyms, particularly due to having no idea what to do. Vaz and the rest of the team at DEFCON Athletics always take the time to explain how to perform exercises properly and make sure that they are done correctly. I attend the FLEX class, which has the primary goal of building muscle mass for a balanced physique. I look forward to going to the gym and am excited to see what I can accomplish in the future.

This isn't just another gym, this my therapy and my meditation. The most important thing in any gym is the people; and the people here are warriors in all aspects of life. The owner Vaz is an ultra high performing athlete and a huge inspiration. His passion for fitness and the love he has for everyone is unmatched. Together we build and build. I'm so proud to be a member of Defcon.

I've been training at DEFCON Athletics for a few months now, and I have to say, it's been an incredible experience. Vaz, the head coach, is hands-down one of the most knowledgeable and motivating trainers I've ever worked with. He really takes the time to understand your fitness goals and tailors workouts to help you achieve them.

The gym itself is well-equipped with everything you need for strength, conditioning, and functional training. What really sets DA apart is the community vibe—everyone is super supportive, and Vaz fosters an environment where you're constantly pushing yourself but also having fun.

Whether you're looking to get in shape, improve athletic performance, or just need that extra push to stay motivated, Defcon is the place to be. I’ve seen real results and couldn’t be happier with my progress!

I attend this program before I run my own classes next door. It's been a wonderful time. Everyone is very friendly. There's a great atmosphere and culture.
As part of our exercises there's sometimes jogging outside; and if you're alone, the coach will run with you for safety. Which is a nice attention to detail.

Vaz has been training my best friend and I for 2-3 years now. This is the most consistent we've worked out and strongest we've ever felt in our lives.
I've never met anyone so dedicated to health, fitness and well being. It's inspiring and radiates throughout his gym, trainers, and clients. Also appreciate that the gym is extremely well kept and that scheduling is flexible.

I have been with this gym for a year now and I absolutely love it. I am super happy that I found it as it works perfectly with my schedule.

The coaches here are amazing. They really get to know you as you go and really pay attention to your technique and what you need to work on to become a better overall athlete. Since I started at this gym, my cardiovascular and physical strength have significantly improved.

I like that the gym offers flexibility on classes. The environment is super friendly and competitive.

Last thing is that the gym is very well maintained and everything gets sanitized.

If you are looking for a great community for group training and coaches who are super personable and are there to help you grow, then CFCV is the place for you. When i first started coming here, i was a little unsure about how to perform some of the more advanced movements that you see athletes do in the CrossFit Games... but the coaches set me at ease and showed me progressions to help build up the strength and mobility needed to get there. I especially like that the coaches really care and want to see you succeed and improve everyday. They want you to achieve your goals, and also take the time to ensure that you can consistently perform scaled versions/weights for the movements with good technique before you move on to the prescribed standard versions. The community of athletes here is equally great with very supportive people - making all the classes enjoyable, which helps put you in a good head space during the rigorous training moments.

I will start off by saying that I've been doing CrossFit for almost 7 years and have been at CFCV for about 6 months. I was looking for a gym closer to home and CFCV is literally down the street from me. I've been a member of 3 boxes and have visited quite a few locations and I can say that CFCV checks all the boxes of a great box! The owner, Vaz, is very involved and dedicated to creating a great gym, the coaches are knowledgeable, the programming is excellent and the gym is CLEAN (definitely the cleanest box I've been to). Many people are intimidated to join CrossFit but all of the workouts can be modified to fit all levels. CFCV has also recently added "burn" classes that focus on cardio (no weightlifting) which is a nice addition to the traditional CrossFit classes and gives us members more variety in our training. I definitely recommend CFCV!

I participated in the 6-week, transformation challenge. I, not only wanted to lose weight, I am also training for a marathon. After meeting with the owner, I knew Vaz could help me. I’ve attempted several times to qualify for the Boston Marathon but failed. I knew I would have to do something different for this training cycle if I wanted a different outcome. I followed their meal plan and workouts and I lost a total of 21 lbs. Vaz and his staff are knowledgeable and focus on proper technique and form, which I appreciate because I’m fairly new to CrossFit/Olympic style movements. My race (California International Marathon) is this weekend and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I recommend CFCV wholeheartedly!

I participated in their 6 week challenge. The owner and head coach Vaz provided a specific and easy to follow meal plan and had us come in for three workouts a week. The workouts are quit challenging and all of the coaches are very knowledgeable and supportive. Within those six weeks I lost about 5.7 percent of my body fat by following his meal plan and workout routine. Here are the before and after photos. I didn’t have abs before the program started. If you have no experience with CrossFit no worries! They brake down the movements for you very well and if you have trouble with any of the exercises they’ll give you a alternative.

I've been a member for several years. The new location is great with plenty of room for the workouts and outdoor activities. Coach Vaz is a great coach and makes the classes fun. There are plenty of great members who help encourage and challenge you. Occasionally they offer free kids classes or family and friends days. I love it, can't imagine going back to a standard gym or another box...

I've been coming to CFCV for the past 5 years and it's become a family to me. The community and camaraderie Vaz and his team have built through all the grueling workouts we go through is something I cherish. Whether it's finishing a tough WOD, hitting a new PR, or stringing together 10 double-unders for the first time, there's always someone cheering you to give you that little motivation you need.

Vaz and his coaches do a great job of pushing us to get the most out of a workout, while also emphasizing proper technique to ensure a safe environment. They pay attention to each member and scale workouts so everyone gets the most out of their time.

Vaz loves learning and switching up routines. This is great for us because we get a constant stream of new movements, stretches, workouts and programs to keep things new and interesting. Even after 5 years, I'm constantly learning and improving my lifting technique, gymnastics movements and my mobility.

I can't endorse this place enough. Come check it our for yourself!

I was curious about the crossfit buzz, and I wanted to see what it was all about. To be honest it seemed a bit intimidating at first, but i went ahead and tried it. Over a year later, I'm still at it and couldn't be happier!! The coaches are great and actually care about your well being and fitness goals. I love the environment at Array, we truly are a family which I've never felt at any other gym.

Drink the crossfit koolaid!! You won't regret it!

I was always curious about CrossFit, but I never went to check it out for a couple of reasons. 1) The class times never worked for me because my schedule revolved around two young children, so anything before 7:00 was impossible for me to make. 2) It was intimidating to see all these fit, shredded, good looking people lifting heavy weights and pulling themselves up bars. I'm just a very average person, so I didn't think I'd fit in very well.

I recently moved to the area and saw this place one day when I was in Montrose for the Sunday Farmer's Market. I noticed they had a later class, so I decided to check it out. On my first day, I almost died. I ain't gonna lie. I was on the curb or on the stairs out back, leaned over with drool dripping shamelessly onto the concrete. I'm sure I was the last thing people coming out of Star Cafe or Black Cow Cafe wanted to see. But that was kinda my fault because I pushed myself too hard. Note that I pushed myself too hard, not the coach. In fact, Vaz (owner/coach) was very supportive and would encourage me to take it easy (probably cuz he didn't want me to faint in the middle of his gym). Despite that first physical breakdown, I was determined to come back.

And I've been going a couple of times a week since. I wish I could go more, but my schedule doesn't allow it. I think what brought me back and what keeps bringing me back is the challenge of pushing myself every session. Granted, I've learned not to try and be a hero like I did the first day. The workouts are always so varied, it never gets boring. One of the best parts of the place are the people. Everyone there is so supportive. It's not a meathead meeting like I thought it might be. Everyone wants everyone else to succeed, and there definitely is a sense of camaraderie. One of the best benefits of going to a place like this as opposed to your local gym or YMCA is that there is accountability. You have someone pushing you (don't worry, they don't get in your face military style) and others going through it with you. I've seen all types of people in my classes, from those that are training to compete in the CrossFit games to overweight people (this includes me) trying to simply live a healthier lifestyle, men and women. There really is no reason to be intimidated. Everyone is so supportive here.

I think the first trial class is free. So if you're reading this, you're probably already curious about trying it out. Free class means you have nothing to lose except some calories and sweat.
