Just wanted to give Cheryl a huge shout out. Buck and I participated in the “How to Fall Safely Class” and we were impressed with knowledge and patience of the instructors. Practiced the techniques many times, as much as needed. Worked with us individually and as a group. And repeated the task until it was learned. We highly recommend you take this class. It was great!!

I first contacted Desert Fitness Collective for help with training for a 100-mile backpack. I was a tired, out of shape 63-year-old with no core strength and terrible balance. I frequently fell while hiking, and getting up from sitting on the floor was a multi-step process. And I knew that if I tried to get in shape alone, it wouldn't happen.
It's now seven months later. I am stronger than I've ever been. I enjoy hiking again, and can't remember the last time I fell. Getting up from the floor is easy now, and I can bend over without making "old lady" noises! Making the phone call to Desert Fitness Collective changed my life. Coach Cheryl cares about my goals and has created a program to help me get there. The other class participants have encouraged and inspired me. I truly feel that I have an entire team helping me reach my goals. I would recommend Desert Fitness Collective to anyone who wants to feel stronger and more confident. Oh, and it's fun!

“Learn How to Fall Safely”
This one day class addresses an important topic for everyone, but especially for seniors. Some techniques, such as protecting from a forward fall, seem easier to apply. Others, such as protecting from a backward fall, are less so, and would require frequent practice to master.
This class addresses some core ‘how to move’ issues and I look forward to the development of more class offerings in the future.

At the age of 74 and after decades of no strength training or stretching, I desperately believed I needed to do something, to be as fit as I can be, given my age and histories of bilateral hip replacements, dislocated left shoulder, fractured left humerus, and left broken wrist. My muscles and joints were both hurting. My stamina was low. After much talking to myself, I reached out to Cheryl at the Desert Fitness Collective, after seeing her website and her specialty with us older folks. In a preliminary phone interview to answer my questions and address my workout history and physical limitations, Cheryl asked a very important question: “What do you think will happen, if you do nothing?” I immediately responded, “I’ll end up stuck in a recliner with my laptop”. No energy, aching joints, stiff and sore muscles, not wanting to do anything. That realization pushed me over the edge and left me open to join one of Cheryl’s fitness classes. I wanted to be with other seniors who were working on their fitness goals. Cheryl is an expert at working with us older men and women. While she provides an intensive workout of stretching, core development and strength training, she is aware of our limitations and very careful to not have us do what might injure us. She provides consistent and excellent feedback, more often expressed with humor and always with understanding and empathy. She is quick to note progress, which increases motivation and performance. My fitness classmates, about eight of us, provide support, inspiration, encouragement and humor. We range in age from mid sixties to eighty. In less than three months, my weakened left side is already growing stronger and beginning to equal my right. My stamina has definitely increased and I have many fewer aches and pains. Plus, I feel accomplished, that I am doing something positive for myself. However many years I have left, I’m going to feel better for these workouts matter. I highly recommend Cheryl and the Desert Fitness Collective. If you are hesitant, which I totally get, just ask yourself the question: “What do I imagine will happen, if I do nothing?!” At least make the phone call. Good luck in reaching your fitness goals!

I have tried so many times to stick to a fitness program on my own. But I could never sustain the consistency and motivation for any length of time. Since joining Desert Fitness Collective, I have had a 180 degree change in my outlook. It has been so great to work out with a group of like-minded seniors, and to cheer each other on. Now I actually look forward to working out!
Coach Cheryl is so knowledgeable and such a great motivator. She works with each one of us, to modify exercises and routines for our individual physical limitations and issues. In the 6 weeks that I have been a member of Desert Fitness Collective, I have already seen measurable improvements in my strength, flexibility, and endurance. Even everyday tasks around the house are easier, because Coach Cheryl has shown us the correct ways to lift and move without injury.

I have been exercising in a gym for 30 years doing both cardio and weight training. However, for the past few years, I felt that something was missing and that I needed a program specific to my age and the challenges that aging presents. I found Desert Fitness Collective through an acquaintance. I started approximately 2 weeks ago and already I am feeling stronger and more confident daily. After 8 weeks I've seen major improvements in my strength, flexibility, balance, and mobility. Measurable gains happen every week! I can put my pants on standing up, easily get out of chairs, and I've lost 5 pounds without dieting. Plus, my golf game and running have benefitted. BTW, this is my 3rd training program in the desert and easily the best. I was a tennis player for the last 50 years but last year I had knee problems and stopped playing. Tried to stay active but I needed the support and encouragement from a group. When I joined Desert Fitness and the group of coach Cheryl I found exactly what I needed. I started out slow with low weights but halfway through the program I can lift a 40lbs kettle weight. I walk much stronger and straighter and am able to get off the floor after warm up floor exercises with more grace (lol). Often I don’t realize how fast 90 minutes class goes by as Cheryl makes it so much fun. In all the weeks I have been there she has come up with a new workout routine without repeating. I’m happy I found Cheryl and Desert Fitness as it improved my mental and physical fitness significantly; and … no more knee pain! Thank you coach Cheryl

It’s been many years since I’ve participated in an organized fitness program. I’d lost a lot of weight due to an illness and knew most of that was muscle. I really wanted and needed to reverse that loss. I heard about Cheryl’s program and it appealed to me for its structure, coaching, guidance and the camaraderie of classmates. I was nervous at first but Cheryl has been so supportive and willing to work with me to modify some of the exercises when my bad back limited what I could do. I have been a gym rat for years. I spent much of my working life getting up before dawn and trudging to the gym by 7am to get a workout in before work. I loved it. It started my day right, gave me energy, and kept me fit. When I couldn’t go to the gym, I’d run.
Then I retired, and that daily routine was gone. For a couple of years I kept up the running and less frequent trips to the gym. Then I developed a foot injury and running turned into walking. The gym was also a less frequent stop as I didn’t have a workout buddy or classes that I enjoyed.
When I read about Cheryl’s Desert Fitness Collective and her classes that focus on people over 55, I knew this was going to be the thing to get me back to regular workouts. I called, she answered, and 5 months later I’m still going 3 days a week. I’m addicted. And I feel so much stronger and healthier.
The classes are so much fun, filled with super nice people, and great workouts. I love the structure, and the focus on technique that keeps us all from injury as we learn or relearn new skills and build strength. My golf game has never been better, my clothes fit better, and I LOVE having sore muscles! Cheryl is a real gem who cares about us and helping us stay on the healthy path. I am SO glad that I joined Desert Fitness Collective! I decided in January that my mental and physical health needs needed to be my primary focus. I had been dealing with an extremely stressful family Trust situation that was affecting my sleep and I knew that exercise would be a great way to relieve stress and help me sleep better. The new national chain health club near me did not offer any programs or instruction so I immediately dismissed that idea! Then I saw an article in the Desert Sun about DFC so I called Cheryl. I knew the program was perfect for me because I needed a "personal trainer" to make sure I'm doing exercises correctly, keep me accountable and push me a bit to work harder. I much prefer a group setting and the class size is perfect. We all have our own needs that Cheryl attends to and we can work at our own level - together. It's 90 minutes of hard work but I'm smiling the whole time! I am stronger both mentally and physically and I've lost inches around my waist, belly and hips! I have been an inconsistent exerciser since retirement 1 1/2 years ago. The Desert Fitness program of 3 sessions a week with a small group of active seniors, has been an excellent motivator for me. After completing 12 weeks, I have noticed more range of motion and strength in my arthritic shoulder and I have lost 6 pounds. I have enjoyed the feeling of community with my fellow participants and I plan to continue at Desert Fitness. I am so thankful to have found Cheryl and her Desert Fitness Collective! I originally learned about her program from an article in the Desert Sun. Her focus on coaching seniors and people with physical limitations really appealed to me. So many times in past, I'd try a group workout program and injury was always inevitable. Yet I needed a program that would counter the effects of NOT aging gracefully. In addition to health issues, I was experiencing difficulty climbing stairs, declining strength and those nasty aches and pains. So, my husband and I contacted Cheryl and after an assessment of our physical condition, we embarked on her boot camp program. Within about 3 weeks, I was feeling stronger! I have bad knees and Cheryl taught me how to move in a way that avoids pain. I wasn't able to squat before and now I can! Arthritis flare-ups didn't hold me back - Cheryl offered alternative ways to hold equipment or exercise. I admit I was nervous about injuring myself in this program but it never happened. You challenge yourself but you can go at your own pace, too. There are a nice variety of workouts. In fact, I noticed it is like a ladder, where you start easy and slowly things get a little more challenging as weeks pass. After 10 weeks, I have muscles I didn't know I had and I have lost about 8 pounds and a couple inches. I climb stairs and hike with ease. Lifting heavy things is a breeze! I am stronger now than when I was in my 20s a few decades ago. I don't want to return to the way I was ten weeks ago. This experience has been life-changing! Thank you, Cheryl, for designing such a valuable program and service for people like me!

Cheryl is a great coach, and I love the emphasis on senior health and fitness. Frankly, it was hard getting started, but Cheryl provided much support and the social setting of working out with others provided much needed peer pressure to show up each time. Now that I have been going for 11 weeks, it has become part of my weekly routine. I actually look forward to going to class. Before this class I was noticing real issues with my strength. After 11 weeks, I am surprised by how easy it is to perform tasks that were getting difficult to perform before I started. The weight training has been a real help. At my last physical, my doctor said that I really needed to start weight training to build bone strength as I age. So the investment in this class was an easy one. Either pay now or pay much more later with fractures and breaks.

Like many of us who at one time exercised on a regular basis, I fell into the trap of thinking I could stay home and exercise. Unfortunately I would see zero results and soon get bored and quit.
One day I had an accident at home that injured my lower back, arms and both shoulders. Finally came to realize that what I needed was a serious exercise program to strengthen my body again.
I googled “fitness programs for seniors in Palm Desert”. Desert Fitness Collective was the one that appealed to me. There were pictures of smiling seniors enjoying their exercise routine together.
To be honest, I was a bit nervous when I arrived at my first class. Was I too out of shape to do the workout?
Soon I could see that everyone was there to improve their health and fitness, not to “compete”.
I very much appreciated Coach Cheryl’s close surveillance of every move I made and her clear and simple instructions. She amazes me as to how she can see, correct, and encourage everyone to stay safe, focused, and motivated. A True Eagle Eye Momma!
When I see others with physical challenges trying and doing their best, it motivates me to quietly challenge myself to do better. That’s the beauty of working out with a group.
After seven weeks, I can see and feel positive results in my physical, emotional, and mental well being.
Therefore, I encourage those who think that the program is more than they can handle to ask yourself; “Will I be physically independent in the next few years? Or will I be struggling to get up off a chair?”

I started exercising with dumbbells, stretching, and balance exercises 1 yr ago to get through quitting smoking. A great start but I was looking for more structure than YouTube videos when I ran across an article in The Desert Sun about Desert Fitness Collective. A fitness center for seniors that addresses mobility issues? Oh, my aching knees this is just what I was looking for. Now, five weeks into my new routine I can say it is more than I was looking for. I am challenged, encouraged, and motivated by Coach Cheryl and the group of seniors I sweat and laugh with.

Six months ago I turned 64 yrs old.I was depressed because for the first time in my life , I felt very old. I had always been very active, not an athelete, but more active than most.
In the two and a half yrs leading up to this 64th birthday , I experienced a knee and hip replacement, then broke my leg and ankle in three places. I felt myself sinking very low , and I was scared .
I fell upon Coach Cheryl and she set up our first meeting. She had me do a baseline test physically, and to be honest, I couldn’t do much at all.
But Coach Cheryl was so optimistic and I believed in her passion for health.
That day I made one of the best decisions of my life,. I decided my health was more important than anything and no matter the cost , which is by the way very fair, I was going to now take control of my physical health.
At first I could not finish the program in the hour and half session, but I kept pushing myself and so did everyone else. They kept saying “ it gets easier as you get stronger “
Well they were certainly correct. It’s been 3 months now, and I’m so proud of myself and I’m so much stronger, and have way more energy.
We are all like family, constantly encouraging each other.
We all come from such different backgrounds and we have our own share of physical challenges.
This program excels because our Couch has eyes all over. Even if there is 8-9 of us, she sees everything. She always has a modification for anyone who is struggling a bit.
We all work very very hard but at our own pace, but Coach Cheryl makes it so much fun.
It’s so much fun watching everyone’s bodies shrink and get stronger.

I started Coach Cheryl’s senior fitness program on October 19, 2023. Since that day I have been working at doing my best being consistent with the classes. I have missed a couple, but have not given up, I feel more motivated than I have in many years.
I feel stronger 💪🏻. If I, at 2 months shy of 74 years, can do it, so can you! Making the big decision to START will help you in so many ways.
Do it for YOU! I can almost guarantee you won’t be sorry!
Cheryl is the Best coach; so knowledgeable about fitness, especially for senior peeps, affirming, genuine and encouraging! I could go on about what a joyous atmosphere Cheryl creates in working us.
P.S. I forgot to mention that I am walking better, heel toe heel toe heel toe even with flat feet, no more shuffling.
Cheryl taught us how to get up off the floor; It may sound wacky but before these classes, I remember crawling over to the couch struggling to lift my body off the floor. And as a bonus, I’m using my knees, actually bending them, which was absent for so many years I can’t begin to count!

To say that Cheryl has had a life changing impact on me, would not be an understatement. I have gained physical strength, yes. But the mental changes and self awareness I have gained have been even greater. I have learned so much.
I have found in Cheryl a leader that has an extraordinary skill. I feel each time I attend class like I am with a personal trainer one on one. She customizes the tasks to my individual capability and expects a lot but NEVER more than I can do. Often more than I think I can do. She is always right and I am often surprised at my new found accomplishments. And, for the first time in my life, I enjoy the workouts.
The hardest part of this journey was believing I could do it. As a matter of fact, my first class I knew 100% I could NOT do this but I already trusted Cheryl and she said “Yes, you can!”. So, I committed to a second class…then a third…and a fourth and only then signed up for 13 weeks of what was to become a transformative journey.
That first week she told me, “You move well”. I thought she was crazy or lying. Weeks later as my confidence grew, I realized she was right. I did move well and had begun to take in my natural good form.
Week two, when the work felt hard and I started to back off, she sensed my waning effort and quipped with fun and humor but dead serious intent “You have to hold yourself accountable.” Bingo! She seemed to have a sixth sense of what I needed in each moment.
Week three, I discovered I was a visual learner, something I never knew. To try something new I needed to SEE it. She knew this and always demonstrated the move in addition to describing it. Verbal instructions were difficult for me but after the demo, it often came easily. Another Aha! moment.
After a couple months I found I could easily
do many physical tasks I had earlier struggled with. Loading my SUV with cases of water, picking up my 17 month old grandson and running became so much easier.
I am just beginning at 71 and Cheryl is my secret weapon. I am making new friends, working hard and enjoying it and growing in so many ways. Thank you Cheryl, you are my hero!

I'm hooked!! Desert Fitness has me excited to workout! Before joining I found it hard to motivate myself to do a good workout on my own. I had been doing Pilates for years but wasn't seeing a lot of results. Heading into my 70's, I was concerned about bone loss, balance, and strength. Because Desert Fitness Collective employs a "group" atmosphere it has made all the difference in the world. Everyone is so positive and supportive. Our coach watches over everything and lets us know individually how to correct or maintain our movements. All which makes for an extremely SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT!! I love when someone new comes in and has never worked out. We cheer them on and make them feel welcome. To me, that was huge. If you are on the fence regarding how to begin or continue your SENIOR FITNESS, I highly encourage you to give Desert Fitness Collective a try. I doubt you will be disappointed!!!!!

Since moving to the desert 5 years ago, I have been hoping to find a gym program comparable to the state-of-the-art training in which I had previously participated. I had been disappointed in my search. Now 76, I had been going it alone in our community gym for the last 5 years, and, frankly, was neither consistent nor motivated in my workouts. When I first saw the Facebook ad for Desert Fitness Collective in August, I was initially skeptical. However, once I began interacting with Cheryl, first online, then over the phone, her description of the 3-day-a-week coed group program sounded very promising. The fact I was familiar with the nearby well equipped and staffed Kinetics facility, having received treatment there for a calf injury in 2019, I was willing to give the 90 day program a try. After 2 months I can report improved strength, mobility, posture and mood. Cheryl is a experience, knowledgable, gifted trainer, dedicated to individual adaptation and instruction. I attend Tu Th Sa, and play golf M W F. Since starting, my golf handicap has dropped 19% and have shot my personal best round, all of which I attribute to my improved fitness and clearer thinking. I think so much of the program, I recruited my Friday golf partner, 75, to join.

My desk job had really taken a toll on my mobility. My shoulders, hips and knees ached all the time. I had to move. Last year I joined one of those chain gyms with the thought of getting into shape. Well many of us know how that goes, no clear plan, a room full of nameless people, plodding along on a treadmill, trying to figure out the weight machines, etc. After a few months of showing up and working out, I still saw no real improvement. My self confidence and motivation went out the door. I went from hopeful to dejected.
I didn’t want to give up but I was wasting my time and money. I discovered an ad on Facebook for Desert Fitness Collective. Well the Universe smiled on me that day. Joining Coach Cheryl’s group has turned out to be the best decision I have made for my health. Cheryl is so knowledgeable and motivating. Her flexible routines enable all to follow along no matter their current limitations, all with encouraging motivation to give one confidence to accomplish more with each session.
That mindset is catching as our entire group encourages each member to succeed.
Yes it costs more than your typical gym membership. To be honest that initially gave me pause but the benefits I have received in the 3 months are priceless. My strength, mobility and endurance, not to mention my elevated mood and self confidence, are worth every cent.

Discovered Desert Fitness Collective on Facebook. I have looked into several fitness programs and know I needed something unique to me. Needed Motivation, Inspiration, Validation and no judgement. I have found more. I have spent several years trying to find a place like this. Coach Cheryl is great.
It has been 8 years with health challenges and this program after 8 weeks has given me my life back.
I am able to stand up without any assistance from a position on the floor.
Can walk makeshift low balance beam without falling off( not every time).
Can walk backwards without fear of falling
Get encouragement from everyone (never had that before). I think I’m going backwards but that is in my head. I still am encouraged by Coach Cheryl to keep pressing forward.
If you need something unique for you then this is for you. Go at your own pace with a realization that it gets you motivated to do more. Has been the best investment in myself.

Having reached 70 years old, I started to realize my best years were probably behind me! I was feeling my age, and didn’t like being 70!
Fortunately, I also realized that if I wanted to feel any different it was totally up to me to make it happen, and if I didn’t do it NOW, then I probably would never do it at all!
It was enough to make me ‘get a grip’ and resolve to do something good for myself, and not just give up and ‘wait to die’…!
I had quit smoking 30 years ago, and was grateful for that. So maybe I can also get back to the gym and get fitter…feel better…look better…???
Luckily, I saw an Internet Post which was advertising a local ‘Desert Fitness Collective’ facility in Palm Desert, and it kinda ‘woke me up’ and made me think that I should go look at it….nothing to lose, right?
A couple of days later, while I still felt motivated, I drove to the facility and met with Cheryl, who was the instructor at the gym.I was so impressed! She knew exactly what was going on with me, and knew exactly what it was going to take to ‘get me going’. She instilled a kind of confidence in me which was enough for me to book an ‘assessment’ session with her, to find out my comfort level and to find out how she could best decide on ‘a plan’ to help me…Hallelujah! Just what I had hoped for!
I enrolled at her Desert Fitness Collective about two years ago, and the rest is history! I feel better, younger, I move better, have more stamina. I am stronger. And I like it!

Prior to 6 wks ago, I was really feeling down. I had let go of healthy habits for 10 months….I had gained weight, wasn’t motivated to exercise, energy was decreased and I couldn’t stick to a plan.
Then I found Desert Fitness Collective and am so thankful for the “senior fitness program”. I like how Coach Cheryl has phone interviews with interested people, then a 1:1 work out in the gym to determine if her program is a good fit for both of us. There was no pressure to sign up, which I appreciated.. Knowing she thought I’d benefit, gave me confidence for success even before my first class.
This works great for me…to work out in class with other ‘seniors’. The focus is exercise for improved functional strength and balance for a healthier more fulfilling life in our senior years. Just what I need!
Coach Cheryl motivates me, she understands and instructs in proper body mechanics for each exercise. I feel utmost confidence in her knowledge and instruction. Each class has participants at varying levels of agility, strength etc.
and she is able to modify exercise as needed for everyone to successfully participate.
Each week I receive motivational and informative texts/emails from Coach Cheryl. I believe she cares and truly wants each of us to be successful as we work with her.
I look forward to 3 times/week in the gym. The people are super nice and encourage each other. We do different exercises all the time, it’s never boring! In just 6 weeks I definitely am beginning to feel stronger and balance is improving. And I’m beginning to wear a few things I’d ‘outgrown’ 👏

I actually started when I was 3 weeks in on a broken ankle, so I wore the boot for 3 weeks. I’m the last person to believe that I would be posting about my experience with a fitness coach. I’ve been procrastinating about doing this for years. After having a double mastectomy eight years ago, my body shape changed drastically. I’ve hated looking at myself in the mirror. I lacked mobility and strength.
Then, earlier this year, I was blessed with a grandchild and realized that my attitude about my physical health needed to change.
Coach Cheryl reached out to me just as I had made that decision and I took her up on her offer of trying three sessions before committing.
I am proud to tell you that after just six visits, I achieved one of the most important goals I had, which was being able to get up off of the floor by myself! This may not sound like much, but for me, it was a mile stone. The techniques that Cheryl, Hector, and David taught me have giving me the confidence and courage to believe in myself, and not fear losing my balance as much.

I am not an athlete. Never have been. All my physical challenges came through the rigor of my active teaching career, my children and taking care of a home. Fast forward to retirement. I do walk and swim regularly, but I wasn’t getting stronger, or increasing my endurance and flexibility as much as I wanted. I needed to add weight bearing exercise to my routine. Since joining the class, I am so much closer to my goals. It is some of the hardest physical work I’ve ever done, but the coaching is excellent. The coaches always present modifications for my personal physical challenges. She invited me to check the class out. They offered a Masters Class that met my needs. Classes are challenging and have a lot of variety. The classes are small so the coaches can pay close attention to proper technique to help you get the most from your workout without injury. If you are curious about crossfit or looking for a new workout you owe it to yourself to give this place a shot. I tried other gyms and programs but had a hard time staying committed on my own. I decided to give Desert Fitness Collective a try and met with Cheryl to take the initial assessment. She then recommended the class she determined I was best suited for.
I was really nervous on my first day, and even considered not going in. I finally ventured in and Cheryl made sure to introduce me, as she does with all new members, to the class. I’ve felt incredibly welcomed and comfortable from day one.
The level of coaching is detailed and thoughtful. Cheryl goes over all the moves/exercises and make modifications based on a person’s needs. They are focused on safety and are diligent about watching everyone’s form. They have a great sense for balancing intensity with encouragement and helping you settle on a weight that is safe, but still challenging.
The gym is clean and spacious and we wipe down equipment after we use it.
This place feels really comfortable, even for a newbie like me that’s only been here for about 6 months. You’ll see people of all ages, shapes and sizes doing what they can do. Don’t be afraid of crossfit, it will change you in ways you’ll never expect.

Six months ago I joined Desert Fitness Collective wanting to improve my endurance. I was getting tired easily. I think due to a lot of sitting and eating during the Covid shut down I had gained 10 pounds and was very lethargic.
Then I met Cheryl and she has changed my life. Her Sr Fitness program has helped me to lose the 10 pounds, also 3 inches off my stomach and my endurance is better than before. Better yet is the fact that my blood pressure medicine has been reduced by 75%.

My prior experiences with fitness programs led to my being injured. I was given a rudimentary explanation of the equipment, and then turned loose do use it on my own. Needless to say, I experienced many physical issues because no one was monitoring how I was using the equipment and exercising.
At the Desert Fitness Collective, the opposite is true. Cheryl, my coach, makes sure that each exercise is tailored to my particular needs. I worked out at Desert CrossFit for 3 weeks while on vacation in Palm Springs over the Holidays. The gym was up to date, clean and the people were very welcoming! Cheryl (coach/owner) is extremely knowledgeable and encouraging! She taught me lots about form and I'll be looking forward to returning next time I am in the desert.

It was great working out with the 9:30 group at Desert cross fit. Thank you all for your hospitality. Cheryl is an awesome coach and gave lots of pointers, and she helped me sub movements in the WOD that were problematic due to a bummed shoulder. I will come back for sure when I'm back in the desert!

Was in town for the holidays and needed to get my CrossFit on. The owner is a really good coach and her programming reflects that - includes good mobility and dynamic warmups before the wod, and includes work focused on strength as well as a metcon.

While in Indian Wells for a weekend getaway, I dropped in for a Saturday morning workout and was warmly welcomed. I appreciated that the class warmed up and stretched together, then Cheryl thoroughly explained and coached us through sets of 3-3-3-3-3 for deadlifts and weighted pull-ups. She taught me new techniques for each of these, which I will take back home! The AMRAP was fun and challenging, too! Desert Crossfit is a large, clean, and well-appointed facility with quality programming and coaching -- plus a fun local crowd. Check it out! Really great box with an friendly clientele and great coach. Coach Cheryl really takes the time to give you a rigorous warmup, useful advice, and corrective tips for more efficient movements in real time. I would highly recommend this box when you're in the desert.

I have worked out with the OWW (Older, Wiser, Wonderful!) group for the 4-5 months I've spend in Palm Desert over the past three years. I can't say enough about the amazing encouragement and support from the members of the class. Cheryl is a terrific coach and pushes us to achieve our optimum levels of fitness. She readily acknowledges and adjusts for our individual body limitations while accepting nothing less than our best efforts. I miss the incredible camaraderie at this awesome box!

When you start working with Cheryl at Desert CrossFit in Rancho Mirage, you start believing again that "YOU CAN DO ANYTHING"! I would have never thought that CrossFit could be a work out option for me, as I never really understood what it actually is, until I learned all about it.Thanks to Cheryl, now I know that is a option for all ages and fitness levels, and by taking advantage of the one-on-one personalized approach coupled with the phenomenal classes (fitness & nutrition) I feel like I truly am on the road to a better, healthier me. Most importantly, I love being part of the Desert CrossFit loving family, its simply amazing!

The Introduction to Crossfit wasn't a great fit for me. I know every body is different in regards to there size, shape, form or age, I just advise you do your research and homework first.
I made the mistake of paying the $149 for the intro to crossfit instead of me calling first and asking if I can test the waters and inquire / or witness what it's all about. But instead I received the short end of the stick. I received an email from the owner Cheryl Cohen in response to my email to her with Cohen stating no refunds and for me to refer back to her website.
I think this is just a sad way of doing business and to me it's just a money maker.
Do your research and when shopping around don't forget to ask questions before you invest.

I LOVE Desert Crossfit!
Oh my goodness! Besides the amazing workout and how fantastic I feel after, I have to thank the coaches and the amazing community of dedicated thriving people who have and are assisting me back to whole body health. I have been a member since Jan 2011 and the past 2 years I have been walking thru stage 3 and stage 4 breast cancer. Cheryl and the common-unity of CrossFitters have aided me emotionally, spiritually and physically. Their encouragement and love gets me here in the am. My encouragement is.... "Come join us at the best CrossFit box in town. Come and grow with us.". I always like to say, "When you think you can't do it, CrossFit and its community says yes you can!" .
