Joining Diakadi was one of the best decisions I’ve made. This is definitely not your typical gym. Every detail is clearly well thought out. Beyond the top-notch equipment and workout space, the Diakadi community is next level. All the trainers are among the best at what they do.
I’ve been working out with Brendan for a while now. I must say, he has definitely exceeded my expectations. He doesn’t feel like just a trainer, more like a friend who keeps me accountable and pushes my limits, often before I even realize it, all while making sure I’m progressing toward my goals injury-free. The care Brendan puts in, both in and out of the gym, is amazing. He pays close attention to every rep and gives unique, thoughtful feedback. He doesn’t just count your reps, he helps build a stronger you. Workouts are also super fun with him!

Diakadi is by far the best gym I've been to in SF! From the minute you step into their wonderful facility, you feel welcomed, free of judgment, and incredibly well supported by all the staff. They have a lot of different equipment, there's plenty of space, and everything is kept extremely clean.
If you're considering personal training, this is the place to come. Training with Anthony has been one of the best decisions I've made in my fitness journey. David Robinson is a fantastic trainer. For over 19 years, David or Dave (as he is known) has coached me at the gym (and virtually during the pandemic) to help me to improve my physical health as I age. He has worked with me through various injuries (not caused by him!) to be able to gain physical strength and to have my body function normally or better than normal. One of the notable qualities that Dave brings to his coaching, is his ability to analyze physical injuries and to develop exercises to strengthen specific muscles after an injury. Most of all, Dave offers his coaching skills with a positive attitude, great approach to life and his clients' challenges, and all done with humor.

I’ve been training with Aurora Bellone for over 3 years. When I first started, my goal was to get rid of the back and knee pain I had from sitting at a desk all day. With her help, the pain is gone by building real strength, addressing the root cause and incorporating myofascial release massage therapy.
Aurora is supportive, patient, and technical — she really pays attention to form and knows how to adapt sessions to whatever’s going on with my body. On days we don’t train together, I follow the training program she’s created for me via an app, which keeps me consistent and progressing.
DIAKADI itself is a welcoming environment with kind owners, excellent equipment, no waiting in lines, and a focus on individualized personal training that feels truly transformative (yes - it may sound cliché but it’s true).
I came to Aurora hoping to get rid of the aches and limitations I felt from sitting at a desk all day. Working with Aurora has been fantastic over the years. Her programming is thoughtful, challenging and has been geared towards my needs whether it be a busy period at work, an injury, shoulder surgery, or just where I’m at at a given moment.

I try to be conservative with the people and services I promote. I cannot recommend working with Roland Borys highly enough.
I've worked with several trainers and coaches in the past as an NCAA D1 All-American runner. It is not an exaggeration to say that Roland has had a larger positive impact on my mental and physical well-being than just about any therapist or coach I've worked with. I've referred him pretty widely, and he now works with about 10 of my close friends.
A couple bullets:
1. He's more focused on injury prevention than "vanity muscles" and has a savant-level way of seeing and developing out imbalances in muscles and movement
2. He's a bit of a spiritual guru. It's hard to explain, but he has a level of awareness and presence that is quite unique….kinda feels like Eckhart Tolle-esque. He blends that into the work and you end up feeling more at peace after working out with him

This is a two part review, one for Diakadi, and another for my trainer, Roland Borys.
Diakadi :
Diakadi itself is a fantastic place to work out. You have pretty much everything you'd need in a single building : personal trainers as well as open gym and physical therapists downstairs should you want to spring for it. The facilities are always super clean, and they have pretty much every exercise implement you could imagine. The staff are fantastic, and the culture overall is laid back, but focused on getting results.
Diakadi is a gym centered around personal trainers, so if you simply need a personal trainer who's going to have your best interests at heart, as well as push you to be better, look no further. Which brings me to the second part of my review :
Roland Borys :
I first got referred to Roland by my buddy Chris (he's left a stellar review for Roland btw, filter the reviews by "Roland" to find it). I had previously had less-than-great personal trainer experiences, and really didn't see the value in spending money for training. I mean, it isn't really cheap, to be honest.
At the same time, I had plateaued in getting results, and I kept running into minor injuries repeatedly, especially with knees and ankles. I figured I'd bite the bullet and give personal training a shot to see if I could be more efficient with the time I was spending in the gym. Both to improve my overall health, as well as get in better shape.
After all, time and health will always be worth more than almost any amount of money.
Roland absolutely brought that improvement that I was looking for. The man can very effectively tailor the regimen you follow to adapt to your specific needs. For the first year, we had a big focus on my physique, as well as addressing knee pain. Afterwards, we shifted focus to strength, and overall joint health. I've gotten injured a couple of times in unrelated accidents outside, and Roland has been terrific about tailoring workouts around these injuries, as well as giving me great rehab workouts and advice. He has demonstrated in-depth knowledge of movement, nutrition, and general anatomy, all of which help create the best possible results.
Since I've started working out with him, I have a much more improved and healthy approach to working out. My knee pain has significantly improved. I've also just been better mentally equipped to stay injury free and overall be a lot stronger.
Roland is now the sole trainer for several friends. We've all had wonderful experiences across the board. He provides not only physical guidance but also mental guidance for a lot of us. For me, he has definitely helped foster a better sense of discipline and focus when I'm in the gym. He has been as much of a friend as he is a trainer, and I don't think many trainers are capable of being like that. I highly HIGHLY recommend giving him a chance.

After working with Roland Borys, my philosophy to exercise and physical health has completely shifted. His presence, attentiveness to the mind-muscle connection and making sure his clients really are connecting with each movement are a total game changer.
Working with him will re-orientate the way you view your body, health, and mind for the better & give you a strong foundation off of which you can further your health.

Diakadi does a great job at having you tell them what your goals are and partnering you with a trainer. Honestly your connection with your trainer makes ALL the difference.
I absolutely LOVE working with Roland Borys. He is an extremely mindful trainer who knows the value and importance of mind/body connection. I've felt myself become so much stronger and agile in the past yeah and a half working with him.
When I initially came to work with Roland my main goal was to create a more sustainable fitness routine for long term health. I also came from a background of competitive cycling and eating disorders so I really just wanted to focus on treating my body well as I aged, and while I hoped for what many of want out of training (a hot bod or w/e) I wasn't aiming for that as my goal knowing that I needed to change my relationship with my body.
However in doing just that my body and my connection with it changed. Roland really helped me treat my body with kindness and we worked on a lot of functional fitness. which to some doesn't seem as "difficult" because it's not about hitting heavy weights. But all of that mindful training really helped my body heal as well as my experience with my body image. Now when I look at myself I see someone who is healthy and strong overall which in itself is beautiful. I did loose inches and became much more toned if you're wondering. But that truly doesn't matter as much as how my body and mind now feel.
I've also gotten into a variety of other sports and my body just easily adapts to whatever I do with such ease now. Further proving to me the well rounded nature of Roland's training.
In addition He has also helped me see how much stress i was carrying in my life. Stress can do a lot to a body and working with him (and my therapist) have really helped my mind connect to my body to work as a whole.
I'm the fittest I've ever been and my connection to my body feels much more healthy than before.
Overall I would 100% recommend Diakadi if you are wanting to train with an expert for a reasonable price. And I 1000000000% would go with Roland if he matches your fitness goals.

When I started working with Brandon I had been dealing with a herniated lumbar disc for about 6 months, seeing various physical therapists with limited success. I was still regularly experiencing pain and felt limited in a lot of activities.
After working with Brandon for 6 months I feel great — my pain has been largely eliminated and I have no restrictions in physical activity. Not only that, but my mobility has improved and my confidence grown such that I could get back to barbell weightlifting. I’ve gone from barely being able to touch past my knees when bending over to comfortably touching the floor, and I’ve increased my back squat by over 100 pounds.
Brandon has helped me meet and exceed my goals through his knowledge and expertise in dealing with both the physical and mental aspects of injury recovery and strength and mobility improvement.

I have been receiving personal training from Mark Borys at Diakadi for over 4 months now and loving every minute. Mark first started with understanding my current level of fitness and my fitness goals. Then on a weekly basis he creates a custom strength training routine where he pays meticulous attention to my form for maximum benefit and injury prevention. He provides alternate ways to do the same exercise so I can do it with the equipment I have at home in between my workouts with him.
I am 63 years old female and happy to report that not only am I stronger and leaner, but nothing hurts! (except for expected muscle soreness of course!). I am continually challenged and never bored!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars to DIAKADI and my trainer, Dustin Millhollen! Dustin is an amazing trainer. He's methodical in planning my workouts for long and short term success and tracking my progress. He's intuitive and knowledgeable about how to achieve my goals. The gym is spacious and well-equipped, and the management is attentive. They have a wide range of clientele, and I always feel comfortable there. In my search for a new gym and trainer, I checked out several others to compare, and DIAKADI and Dustin were the best. While it's at the top end of my budget, it's definitely worth it to me. How many characters do I have, because I have a lot of good things to say! DIAKADI is the best gym, not just in SF, but in all the cities I’ve lived. They simply outcare everyone.
I started with a trainer and I was skeptical based on previous experiences, but he really taught me about not just workouts, but health and mindset too. My form is still good from that training. I also use the open gym because the equipment and facilities and very hard to match. I’ve been a member of equinox and fitnessSF as well, they don’t have as much unique stuff. It’s also not super crowded and everyone is friendly. Just good vibes. Love the tangerines after a workout and clean locker rooms.
I travel a ton and am always on a fitness roller coaster with lots of driving out for work, so whenever I get back to SF for an extended period, I’m able to get into diakadi and shed fat and build muscle.
The owners Billy and Mike highly encouraging and friendly too. They really care about each member.
Also high quality body work with people who know about muscles, have Achilles and plantar issues.
Highly recommend for anyone looking to be serious about fitness and likes community.

The #1 reason - the ownership and staff - experienced, competent, attentive and super friendly. The venue is bright, airy, clean and accessable. This is by far the best gym I've used - it has a great variety of equipment that is always well maintained. It is never too crowded, and fellow gym goers are courteous and respectful. It's a fantastic welcoming environment.

I've been fortunate to train at Diakadi on and off for over ten years and it is by far the best gym and team I've ever been exposed to across my time in SF, LA, NYC, and abroad.
Mike and Billy do an amazing job running the facility, which has the best setup and equipment in the city by far. They're also wonderful at caring for their team of trainers, all of whom are lovely people that are extraordinary in each of their disciplines. Everyone at Diakadi exudes positive energy and spirit and it makes spending time here a true pleasure.
I started at Diakadi with Tom Armenta over a decade ago, and he was able to help me build a foundation of fitness that I've been able to build on ever since. It's awesome to see him continuing to transform the lives of his clients.
This past year I've been working with Elijah Markstrom who has an enabled me to make a major breakthrough in my overall fitness and reach goals I previously thought impossible. I've been able to get my weight down to its lowest ever in my adult life, I've radically improved my posture, my metabolic fitness is at an all time high, and I'm steadily gaining strength, all thanks to Elijah's expert programming and guidance towards the goals I shared with him when we began.
In addition, Elijah's thoughtful approach has also helped me avoid injury, which had been a chronic problem. Seeing continued progress without setbacks has been really exciting and gives me extra motivation to keep after it each week.
In all honesty my life would be meaningfully worse if I had never discovered Diakadi or met Elijah and Tom. I'll always be grateful that we have such a special gym and group of people here in SF. ❤️

When I reached out to DIAKADI and sought a personal trainer to address my joint pain issues (such as in my lower back, knees, and elbows), I was paired with a trainer named Mark Broys. He asked some questions and requested that I do some weight training in order to design a program for me. After a few sessions, my issues suddenly disappeared. Not only that, but my strength also increased. I also learned a lot of tips from Mark. Furthermore, Mark always accommodated my needs and provided a recap after each session, encouraging me to train on my own afterward. I am very grateful for all of this.

I have been a member of many gyms over the years, and Diakadi offers the most warm and friendly environment and practical experience of any gym I have attended. The trainers (I work with Zach and also Anthony) are excellent and focus on the client's needs, not some cookie cutter workout approach. Zach changes up my workout routine every 4 weeks to keep it fresh. The equipment is state of the art and updated often. Street parking is easy, and there is rarely a wait for equipment. Mike and Billy are the owners and they are present and available. Terrific place !

I've been seeing Derrick Lee for many years and no other trainer that I've worked with comes close. He is absolutely incredible. He works on your body first so you get the most out of your workout. I met my trainer Tycho almost 12 years ago when he was starting out at the YMCA and I have followed him along his various transitions in his career, and I followed him to Diakadi several years ago. Needless to say… His decision to join, Diakadi was great for both of us! The facilities are superb to say the least… And the entire team a Diakadi from the trainers to the owner to the regular staff, make the place warm and welcoming. Well, like most people, I’ve had my ups and downs during my fitness journey. My successes can definitely be attributed to Tycho and Diakadi as a whole. I joined DIAKADI because the idea of one-on-one training was so much less intimidating when everyone else around you is doing the same (i.e. not so obvious if you have no clue what you're doing!). I was a regular runner, but never really felt strong or flexible or particularly excited about the aging mama body thing. Enter Jon de la Torre...I absolutely LOVED training with him. Before moving to the Bay Area 2 years ago, I was a member at a grass roots CrossFit-inspired gym that I also absolutely loved, and I was convinced I wouldn't find anything comparable. Thankfully, I did.
Diakadi is the absolute best, including Jon De Le Torre, my personal fitness guru! First, Diakadi is always incredibly clean, organized, calm and has the best vibe. People are so respectful of each other and the space. I am by no means a fitness star, so it is incredibly important to me that there are many different people in a space; Diakadi has folks of all abilities working on their fitness and I love that.
When I joined the gym, I told Jon I wanted to focus on overall fitness, increasing my weight lifting potential, and staying strong for potential pregnancy in the coming few years. He answered with multiple 8-12 week programs. In about one year we've gone through an introductory phase, I trained for and ran a 10k, and now we've increased my core weightlifting movement capabilities by nearly 50%.

This is by far my favorite fitness experience in SF. I work with Jesse, and over the last year he's helped me be pain-free, build strength, and drop 25 pounds. Before joining DIAKADI, I wasn't someone who worked out regularly and did not have a planned approach towards meeting my fitness goals and was looking for a place and a trainer to help me accomplish that.
DIAKADI's intake process is quite detailed where they first asked me about what I was looking for and my goals and then used that information to match me to a personal trainer who is best suited to help me. I got the opportunity to work with two trainers so far - Dan Chavez Stahl and Austin Villamil and both of them are just amazing. They are both highly knowledgeable professionals who are fully invested in keeping me on track towards my progress. They developed highly strategic, focused programs that's tailored for me and refreshed it every couple of weeks, taught me corrective exercises and proper forms/ techniques for performing complex movements and also performed therapy work to help with specific injuries I had with my knee. They also created calorie charts for me, updating me every week on how much calories - carbs/ proteins/ fats I should be ingesting and tracked the data along with results from my body composition scans to factor in changes to our programs. I consider myself quite lucky that I got the opportunity to work with and learn so many things from the two of them!
Talking a bit about the gym itself - it's probably the most well-equipped gym in the bay area. Spanning multiple floors and featuring ample room to workout, the gym has everything ranging from machines to free weights/ different types of equipment and grips and multiple tracks with sleds/ tanks. It also has separate lockers, showers, multiple massage/ therapy rooms and everything is extremely clean and well-maintained. The owners - Billy and Mike are just awesome folks and they are super helpful/ always there to greet me with a smile and check in with me on how things are going and provide encouragement!
Overall, if you are someone looking to make a change/ improve on your fitness - DIAKADI is the place to be!

I trained with Billy Polson, one of the founders and he compeltely changed my attitude about working out. I hadn't worked with a trainer before joining DIAKADI and also hadn't been working out regularly for the better part of a decade. I was looking for someone to help me with program design and a bit of coaching on some movements.
I ended up working with trainer Michael Crammond to get me back on track. Michael develops really thoughtful programs to keep me progressing towards my strength and body composition goals and provides helpful feedback during our sessions together. On top of this, Michael is also able to do some manual therapy to work on muscle imbalances and strains in order to keep me healthy and able to continue working hard through the program. While I wasn't really looking for a trainer that can also do manual therapy, it's turned out to be really invaluable for me.
I've been working with Michael at DIAKADI for 1.5 years now and I couldn't be happier with my choice. Overall, I've gained 17lbs of lean mass and lost 14.5lbs of fat (numbers via DEXA scan) since starting at DIAKADI, and I'm feeling better than ever.

I started at Diakadi in February 2022 and it was hands down one of my best decisions last year. I love the gym because it is welcoming, clean, spacious, and everyone is really friendly. I look forward to going to Diakadi every week because it is motivating to be around others who are invested in their health and who are encouraging of others' journeys, as well.
I've trained with Zach the entire time that I've been at Diakadi. I had a bit of an inauspicious start to 2022 where I got injured left and right for a few months back-to-back, and I didn't know how I'd get back on track with the gym with so many injuries. Then I met Zach, who immediately made me feel like getting back on track was possible, and that I could train in a way that was safe.
My goals were to lose body fat, and to change my training and nutrition into something that was sustainable. Zach has done that for me - he has set me up with a training program that is sustainable where I am training smarter and safer than I was before. He's helped me change the way I see nutrition and helped me understand how it makes my body feel, and how it affects performance at the gym. He also changes up my eating plans depending on what is going on in my life, and I appreciate the flexibility. Zach also helped me value and understand how sleep and recovery affect my goals.
I am lifting heavier than I ever have before and certainly heavier than I thought I could with the injuries last year. I am setting PRs pretty often which surprises me every time. I have lost 20lbs of body fat and have put on about 6lbs of muscle. I have not reached my goals yet but I give all the credit to Zach for my progress so far. His guidance and his approach to fitness have been key to my progress because before him, I was just running myself into the ground with overtraining. Zach is very encouraging which makes training with him all the more fun and exciting. I look forward to seeing him every week.

The vibe at Diakadi is something like high-end Soma warehouse meets high school gym. It’s upscale but not overly designed or pretentious like some gyms at this price point can be. There’s always good energy, though it’s never crowded – even during prime time. They have a ton of equipment; I’ve never had to wait for a squat rack or pair of dumbbells. The staff is warm and friendly, always greeting me by name. I really enjoy being in this space.
The real magic happens, though, with their trainers. I was in a slump after 2 years of pandemic lockdowns – I’d gained some weight and wasn’t feeling great about what I saw in the mirror. I started working with Zach in January 2022, with the primary goal of losing fat and a longer-term goal of building some real muscle. We’re just over 3 months in, and I cannot believe the progress I’ve made.
So far, I’ve lost 10lbs of weight overall while gaining meaningful muscle mass. My body fat has dropped 5%. I didn’t think of myself as much of an athlete, but with Zach’s coaching, I’m surpassing all my historic lifting achievements, and I’m continuing to hit PRs every week. I’m starting to see a 6-pack – something I’ve never had and didn’t think I was capable of. My clothes are fitting better, and friends are commenting on the transformation. Just incredible results!
Zach really knows his stuff. I love understanding the “why” behind each exercise. Zach does a great job explaining both the physiological impact of each move and how they fit into our broader program. And while he provides exceptional nutrition and exercise coaching, his holistic approach extends much further. We’ve worked on sleep quality, digestive health, drinking water quality, stress management, mindfulness, social relationships, and more. Zach’s helped me learn how they all play a role in overall well-being.
Zach is exceptionally talented, kind, and knowledgeable. I’m excited to continue working together and can’t wait to see what else we’re able to achieve!

The staff at DIAKADI paired me up with Ricky, who not only focused on exercise but also nutrition. His background as a golf instructor also helped to tailor some of the exercises to help my core stability, flexibility, and to improve my swing. DIAKADI kept me going through the height of the pandemic - for a few months the gym moved outdoors so that we could continue training until it was safe to move back inside. Ricky (unfortunately for me) moved overseas to pursue his dreams, but we remain friends and in close contact. I've since started training with Damon, who is a paramedic by day, and brings all kinds of energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for learning that keeps me motivated.
The best thing I can say about DIAKADI is that it's a community focused on wellness - there's no pretense, no judgement - everyone there is just there to feel and look well and support each other. There are people training at DIAKADI in all sizes, shapes, and at different points in their fitness journey. Started working with Brendon (guy on left in the banner) sometime last year to get myself back on track, and joined their open gym early January. Brendon is incredibly flexible with his sessions and have provided me training plans so that I can achieve my goals on my own. This is a 2-story gym with incredibly well-kept equipment for weight and HIIT training; never really a wait time when I'm in. Convenient location—located in SoMa area with Lyft bike station just a block away; Costco, Trader Joe's are just around the corner for your after-session grocery needs.

I began working out at DIAKADI in the Spring of 2019, at a self-determined low point of my physical condition and feeling beyond stressed from daily life. Since then, they have been a mainstay of my physical and mental health. Training primarily with Austin Villamil of Whole Body Solutions, I lost 35 pounds that year alone; I was welcomed and encouraged by my trainers and the whole DIAKADI staff every step of that grueling process. They are far-and-away the best and most inclusive environment for fitness that I have encountered in San Francisco. There is a home for every skill level and goal within the walls of DIAKADI. You may be a few feet from someone performing in ways you think you could only dream of and yet, this is a safe space for you to be yourself and grow at your own pace. It is difficult for me to imagine all the gains I may have lost in the pandemic, if I did not have the community fiber and fortitude of this space and the people working behind it. To boot, It is clean, well-maintained, and has an enviable inventory of equipment. It has always been a worthwhile investment and they are worth every penny!

The owners Billy and Mike are wonderful. I’ve been going to Diakadi for 13 years seeing my trainer Shelby. I highly recommend this gym, it’s clean, modern and has all the equipment you could ask for. They have the option of a non-binary shower and bathroom area with private stalls which is a game changer for folks who are trans and non-binary! Shelby is one of the best trainers and people I’ve ever worked with. (I was a collegiate athlete) I’ve had numerous injuries over the years and she has always been able to support me and help me get back in the gym. 5 years ago I moved 30 minutes south of SF and even though I now work remotely I still drive up to the city to get in a session (they follow all the COVID protocols).

Best Gym in SF, Hands Down
Before joining Diakadi in 2013, I must admit I found most gyms rather intimidating. I would usually find machines I was familiar with and go about my normal, ‘boring’ workout. But when I joined Diakadi, and I was matched up with my incredible trainer, Gavin, my gym ‘routine’ became anything but.
A loyal member for 9 years, I can attest that the results speak for themselves. I now have the knowledge to diversify my workouts with free weights, and the confidence to take on new, more challenging programs including compound movements (such as an overhead squat). What’s so rad, is how these fun and engaging exercises have had a direct and positive impact on the pursuit of my hobbies.
My snowboarding skills have multiplied given my increased strength and my stamina on the mountain gets better year over year, (something I am particularity proud of as I enter my 40’s). Come springtime, Gavin will change up our area of focus and get me ready for golf season.
As far as the facility itself is concerned, Diakadi offers an experience second-to-none. Not once, in almost 10 years of training have I ever had to wait for equipment needed for a workout. The owners, Billy and Mike, work diligently with their entire team of trainers to make sure resources are being used judiciously and efficiently. Weights and accessories like elastic bands, foam rollers etc are plentiful and always stacked and stored with great care (something that my OCD tendencies very much appreciates).
As far as COVID protocols go, I feel incredibly safe. All members and staff are fully vaccinated, there are plentiful hand sanitizing stations, great ventilation, and they even have color-coded towel stations to indicate which are to be used for personal use, and which are to be used for equipment wipe downs.

This is an unsolicited review for Roland Borys a trainer @ Diakadi.
When I turned 30, I started to experience more injuries in my day to day activities (I am an avid skier/climber/runner/cyclist/blah blah) and was getting PT referrals every 3 months or so for some new issue I needed to baby so that I could get back to full fitness. I took a look at Diakadi because I figured preventively training with a professional every week to strengthen my body *before* a new injury hit would keep me out of PT and ultimately allow me to breakout of the injury cycle. Going into the process, I planned to just do a month or two of the workouts and then break off on my own so that I could save the money and workout on my own time - I also had pretty negative experiences with "bro-y" trainers who didn't seem really to care in the past.
Nine months of training with Roland later (1 hour/wk), I couldn't imagine *not* going to Diakadi every week. Roland is a masterclass. He is cerebral yet fit as hell. He is extremely attentive and always ready to go with a custom regiment tailored to your needs that he efficiently deploys throughout the session. He is also just very enjoyable to be around which makes it feel like you are working out with a good friend (which I guess is now the case ;)
The best part is the results though! For the first time in many years, I feel stronger, more limber and have increased my endurance across a range of activities - it feels amazing to be getting older but improving as a amateur athlete and this translates directly into greater work productivity and happiness for me ;)
Bottom line, training with Roland is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

My spouse and I began coming to Diakadi last year when our previous gym did not survive the early stages of the pandemic. It is a well-equipped and spacious facility with excellent trainers (we train with Just LaPlante) and top-notch physical therapists (Nina Szemis). They have taken a very thoughtful and careful approach to dealing with COVID restrictions, which was a top priority for us—they took capacity restrictions and mask wearing seriously during the time those were in force. We have felt as safe as we possibly could during this extraordinary time.
The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly, and the staff are lovely folks (who mostly stay put of your way). There is varied, plentiful, and well-maintained equipment for weight and cross-training.

For me health and fitness is closely incorporated with life, faith and mental health. Diakadi and my trainer always make me want to push.
With a very focused tone and clear objectives, I find myself not even thinking just going to the next exercise. There is a difference between performing from admiration, intimidation or fear and performing based upon an absolute belief that you and your coach are aligned and have a mutual focus and respect for goals and success.
Whether the success obtained is actually, or an unintended benefit against a team of two focused on a goal, aligned in purpose and achieving daily success I can’t determine. I love training at Diakadi Outdoors! I’m able to work out on the same equipment that I used at the gym, but outside in an extremely safe environment. From the moment I step foot at Diakadi Outdoors, I get my temperature taken and am asked a series of health questions. All the equipment is sanitized after use. Like many others, I was distraught when Diakadi was temporarily closed due to the San Francisco Department of Public Health's order in response to COVID-19. But.... THEY HAVE RE-INVENTED THEMSELVES in response to COVID-19. Yay, yay, yay!!!
For the past 3 weeks, I've been attending my training sessions at the Diakadi Outdoors facility in Mission Bay with great joy! They provide appropriate screening, ensure compliance with masks and hand sanitizing and it feels VERY SAFE! It is so good to be able to have sessions with my trainer again and to use some of the equipment previously available at the gym (cleaned after each person's use) and NOT worry about COVID exposure.
The outdoor facility is great: turf instead of grass (love it - no mud) and plenty of space for social distancing during your sessions. Parking is also available at meters or for a small fee in the adjacent lot.
If you are looking for a place to resume your exercise routine / resistance training, Diakadi Outdoors is definitely the place to go!!

This gym is the real deal. The owners connected me with a trainer who was really a perfect fit for me. The space is enormous, the layout and the equipment are great and the environment makes you want to crush it. These guys have really figured out the equation, especially if fitness is a priority (or you want to make it a priority).

been an independent trainer at DIAKADI for over nine years, for me it is without doubt a second home and a second family! From being greeted by the happy, smiling faces of the girls and guys at the front desk, to working amongst some of the most knowledgeable trainers and coaches in the world, it certainly does not feel like ‘work’ training my awesome clients at this facility. In regard to the facility itself, I would describe it as First Class, there are two huge floors with every piece of fitness and workout equipment imaginable, which enables me to keep my clients both interested and challenged. In addition, the staff do a great job of making sure that the gym is never too crowded, we are never waiting on apparatus or equipment and always have a comfortable amount of space to work out in. Without doubt 5 stars all the way!

We've been working with Austin for almost a year. He's designed a custom program for us and we've been able to fix posture, build muscle and strength across our body. Equipment is top notch and the vibe is pretty laid back. Definitely one of the gyms where I felt the most comfortable.

My wife and I had the pleasure of training with Carlos Solis at Diakadi. The thought of personal training felt daunting and intimidating at first, but after our first session with Carlos, those concerns quickly went away. Right from the beginning Carlos made sure to create the right routine for our needs. He has a calm demeanor, good sense of humor, and a very easy-going personality.
You can tell that he’s passionate about what he does, and often provided us with useful tips and insights on how to improve our diets and lifestyles. With every session he would push us to work harder, and made sure that we had every technique locked down. Very quickly, we could feel our bodies getting stronger and our energy improving. Even on days where we were tired from work, we looked forward to training with Carlos. It’s unfortunate that we had to end our training with Carlos after moving out of the city, but we would highly recommend him to anyone that may be considering a personal trainer.

This is the best gym in SF. The facilities are clean, there’s parking nearby, and they provide clean towels and sandals and showers. Plus if you sign up for laundry service they’ll keep your gym clothes clean for you so you can walk in and out without having to lug clothes and gym shoes around.
The best part is the trainers. I’ve worked with Zach Scioli and he covers everything from diet to sleep to guiding you through a rigorous workout tailored to your fitness level and goals. He helped transform my health.
I’ve also worked with Nate Miyaki and he’s super knowledgeable and fun to work with as well. Every trainer has a different approach, but I’ve found that Diakadi’s trainers are more thoughtful and comprehensive in their approach than anywhere else.

This is a San Francisco gem. You will not find another exclusive training gym like this place.
The amenities are spacious upstairs with clean women’s showers (can’t speak for the men). The equipment is clean, up to date, healthy snacks and awesome hours.
This is a client-focused gym—meaning that if you want to get away from crowds (who never put equipment back) and, if you don’t want a scene—then this is the place to get serious. This is were you seriously go to get 1:1 training or small focused group fitness like Paul Wright’s Get Wright Bootcamp. The trainers are even-keeled, conscious and knowledgeable.
The downstairs area has the right mix of lighting and sound baffling that you’d expect from the upstairs space which is airier.
Update: parking but best if you walk or bike to get trained. Diakadi has a nearby lot: “has eleven reserved marked spaces (22-32) just for you located at 2226 Alameda Street,” which is only steps away and safer than street parking.

Hands down the best gym in San Francisco. Not only is it filled with all of the latest equipment spread across two floors, the personal trainers are some of the most educated and qualified around. It can be pricey but your health is worth it. So, put down that burger and start today, not tomorrow!

I had hit a plateau. I didn't have motivation anymore to workout. I had been relatively "in shape" but a lot of the muscle and definition had gone away. I needed to be motivated again. I needed to find out how to workout differently so it was interesting and exciting to me again. And I wanted to look a specific way, aesthetically again. I communicated this to Diakadi, who did an excellent job of recommending three trainers to me as options. I interviewed all of them and in the end settled on Joe Andrews. Results? 3% drop in body fat, almost 3% gain in muscle mass. I had obliques again. I had abs again. I had arms again (with veins popping out in places I'd never seen before). And I regained my energy, motivation, and confidence again. I felt proud to take my shirt off again. Can't say thank you enough to Joe who was absolutely amazing. He listened to every word I said and customized a very specific workout. He always helped me keep my eye on the prize. And kept the right balance of patience, along with pushing me and my body. Two big thumbs up. I've been maintaining what he built with me, have been working out 4X a week now with his lessons and recommendations, and will be starting a new workout package with him in October because he was THAT awesome. Ahhh yes, and the facility? Excellent for client to trainer 1:1 workouts, and the management and staff is terrific. Recommended 100X over. DO THIS if you've hit that plateau and are looking to make a successful change. Diakadi and Joe gave me my groove back.

Excellent facility with outstanding trainers. Everyone here is friendly, encouraging, and personable. Refreshments are top-notch, with meals available in-house for a quick post-gym boost. Equipment is always available and high quality. Nothing is overlooked here. Only wish there were more open gym hours, but the focus is on training (which is worth every penny).
