I stumbled upon this gym after my doctor suggested I try MMA to help with PTSD due to physical violence I’ve experienced as a healthcare worker. I always wanted to try Muay Thai but had zero experience and felt intimidated. I have ADHD so I tend to take time to process instructions and end up feeling embarrassed. That being said, I never felt embarrassed here. The owners/instructors are genuinely welcoming and incredibly patient. Shoutout to Emily for taking the time to pair up with me for my first class— it really made everything less nerve-wracking!! She, along with Chris, Jessie, and all the students I met in class make the environment feel super supportive. I’ve only attended 3 classes so far, but want to try to go as much as I can throughout the week. Very happy I found this gym. :)

This gym provides a unique training environment that combines fulfilling body conditioning, detail-oriented classes, and a supportive community that truly feels like family. The coaches are incredibly passionate about Muay Thai and take the time to guide each student toward their individual goals, whether it’s discovering a new hobby or preparing to compete. What really stands out is the welcoming atmosphere, everyone is encouraged, no matter their skill-level. It’s a place where you can push yourself physically, learn valuable discipline, and connect with others who are just as motivated.

I have been watching a lot of Muay Thai videos on YouTube lately. I really like this style of fighting, especially the elbow movements. I would like to acquire a new skill by learning Muay Thai. Does anyone know the cost of membership at this Gym and their schedule? I am referring to the Muay Thai Gym located nearby.
Thanks
Eric

Double Kick is an incredible space to learn Muay Thai! I’ve been a student of Jessie Magusen for five years and I feel honored to have learned this art from someone who is so knowledgeable, lethal, and passionate about what he does. I had no prior experience and his class structure as well as the team culture ensured that I never felt excluded as a beginner. I have been challenged to improve every day by my peers and coaches here and I am so proud of the skills they have pushed me to build. The community I found through this gym has made san diego feel like home. If you are on the fence about starting a new hobby pick this one! and join this gym!

Double Kick Muay Thai is the real deal. The coaches bring deep experience and a true respect for traditional Muay Thai, but what sets them apart is how much they care about their students. Whether you’re training to compete or just to grow, they meet you where you’re at and push you with purpose. It’s a welcoming, focused, and motivating place to train — easily the best Muay Thai gym in San Diego (from my limited experience 😁).
