Based in Temecula, CA, Effort Is Rewarded is a results-driven personal training and athletic development program led by former NFL player and D1 athlete, Coach Jason Shirley. With over a decade of experience training youth, high school, and adult clients, we specialize in strength training, fat loss, athletic performance, and football-specific skill development—especially for linemen.

I’ve been watching Jason train for the past 7 months, and now that I’m working with him myself, I finally understand why everyone speaks so highly of him. He puts so much care and attention into every session. He tailors the workouts to exactly what you need, not some generic plan, and it makes such a difference.
Jason is incredibly knowledgeable, from body training to agility, explosive power, and mobility. What stands out the most is how patient and supportive he is. He pushes you in the best way, but he always listens. He teaches form and technique with so much clarity that you feel safe, capable, and confident.
He’s the kind of trainer who genuinely wants you to succeed, and you can feel that. I’m truly grateful to have him guiding me.

As a high level athlete I can say I absolutely love Shirley! He’s the best coach you’ll find out there trust me! I’m on the varsity volleyball team at Chaparral high school, and started/played on a club team that ranked 13th in the country at Forza South, before moving clubs. And I can say I trust Shirley. He’s very knowledgeable about a lot more than just in the sports field, he helped me strengthen my ankle back to health after a bad injury. Something about Shirley is that he wants to be involved! He doesn’t just care about how you’re doing in athletics, but also how you’re doing in life. As a female athlete it’s hard for me to find male coaches that I’m actually comfortable with, but I’ve always felt comfortable with Shirley, he’s like an uncle to me. And if you’re wondering why he should train you, or your athlete trust me he has MANY qualifications, he’s been involved with MANY sports, and even played in the NFL, he’s a varsity football coach at Chaparral high school, and probably much more that I don’t know yet about. What makes him stand out from the other trainers? Again he wants to be involved, he comes to my volleyball games, he went to a body builder competition for his other client, and obviously his football players games. He cares about your health, and you as a person. He will push you because he cares, but if you’re feeling weak that day, say from a medical issue, or not eating enough, he won’t push you to where something bad will happen. You’re health is his number one priority. Some people tend find him intimidating at first if they don’t know him solely because he’s a big dude (I mean he’s an x nfl player what do you expect?) but honestly he’s a big sweetheart (don’t kill me 😂), and he’s hilarious! Shirley’s a good person, and I’m so glad I get to train with him. Love you Shirley!🤍🤍

Coach Shirley has help to instill a strong work ethic while training/coaching my son. By developing trust Jason has been able to push my son well beyond what he thought he was capable of, whether it is weight training, field practice, or having an unstoppable attitude. Coach Shirley is an amazing trainer! He has helped me love training again! Not only has he helped me improve my training he has helped me stay disciplined and motivated! Being a previous D1 athlete and coming into the real world is hard when you are used to having someone always tell you how to train, he has helped me be confident in the gym, has taught me how to train properly and most importantly has helped me with my nutrition! 100/10 would recommend for all athletes looking to learn and grow in their sport! Working with this coach completely changed my game. They helped me level up my mentality, intensity, and overall mindset toward training. Jason is the most knowledgeable personal trainer I have ever worked with. He understands the body of a young athlete as well as someone older. He pushes me to limits that I sometimes don’t even know I have. Both the physical and mental changes I have gone through are amazing. I have been training with Jason since 2018. He is the best. Started in high school just trying to get stronger to play on the soccer field and not get knocked off the ball. I can definitely say I saw a huge difference in my play when training with him and when I didn’t. He has become like family to me and is the best person to be around especially when training. He’ll push you to your limits and many times pass those limits. But it’s exactly what you need when you’re trying to better yourself. You will curse at him, yell at him, want to punch him in the face HAHA (joking) but honestly if you’ve had a trainer that you haven’t wanted to yell at then they aren’t doing a good enough job. Young athletes should be working with him and they should be training at least 2 times a week. That is where you’ll see the most improvement. I’m 21 now and I still call him even when I’m playing college soccer and ask him for advice on training because I have not had a college athletic trainer that’s been better than him. He does so much for recovery too. I’ve gone through knee injuries and ankle injuries with him and he’s done amazing to modify exercises for that. He also does cupping, scraping, and massage therapy. Would highly recommend doing that with him too. I get the worst knots in my legs and he would do a great job working it out and I would feel like a million bucks the next day. I’ve recommended him to multiple different athletes that are friends of mine and even when they have worked out with him they say he’s amazing. If you’re looking for the right person you’ve found him!! You won’t want to leave once you start :))

I’ve been working with Coach Jason for a few years now, and I can’t say enough good things about him. He really knows his stuff and has been a huge part of my fitness journey. He’s great at working around injuries — always coming up with smart modifications so I can keep moving safely.
