I've been training with Nathan Cardinal for just over a month now, after taking a year-long break from strength training to focus purely on pickleball. Once I mentioned I was ready to get back into it, Nate didn’t hesitate to invite me out—and that first session was all it took to get me hooked again.

As a former D1 athlete, I’ve been through tons of gyms, coaches, and training styles. Julian is truly, truly phenomenal. He knows just the right amount to push, and still makes it fun and an affirming, confident experience. He knows what he’s talking about, but the real magic of being a great personal trainer is how you feel during the workout. He makes sure you always feel empowered and strong, and that you’re having a good time.

My partner and I came for a boxing class, and neither of us had ever done it before. He thoroughly went over the basics and then had us do some freestyling at the end, and it was amazing. It can feel intimidating to do something for the first time, especially in a gym setting, but Julian makes sure the experience is fun and not too much pressure, and we learned so much. I’ve been training with Nathan for a few months now, and he’s been really helpful. I play pickleball for fun, and I knew I needed to work on my body off the court too. At first, I wasn’t sure if I needed a trainer, but now I’m glad I gave it a shot the progress I’ve made has been noticeable. Nathan is super encouraging during our sessions. He never makes you feel bad if you’re doing something wrong he just helps you fix it and keeps things positive. He also makes sure I’m doing everything with the right form and doing the exercises that fit my goals. He changes up the workouts every few weeks, so it doesn’t feel boring or repetitive. It always feels like there’s a purpose behind what we’re doing, and it makes working out something I actually look forward to. Before Nathan started guiding me on proper warm-ups and body mechanics, I used to go straight into heavy lifts with no prep—and man, my body paid the price. I’d be in constant, severe pain, and over time that wear and tear really started catching up to me. I know I’m Asian, and “Asian don’t raisin,” but let’s be real… my body was definitely feelin’ it more and more as I got older—sore as hell, constantly aching, and struggling to recover.

Since incorporating Nathan’s teachings, everything has changed. The warm-ups, the stretches, the intentional movements—it’s been a game changer. I no longer deal with that brutal pain after lifting, and it’s made a huge difference in the longevity of my workouts. I feel stronger, more mobile, and just overall more prepared for anything I throw at my body.

Update: After 3 months of strength training (twice a week) with Amie at Elite Strength Lab, I am seeing and feeling results, and my recent BodySpec (Dexa) Scan proves the results are REAL: over 3 lbs of body fat GONE, over 2 lbs of lean mass BUILT, and bone density INCREASED. Excellent place to train. I was traveling to the area for a short time and Julian worked with me to figure out a package with very reasonable rates.

i've always been intimidated to sign up for personal training (had bad experiences in the past with regular gyms) but after trying out elite strength lab i wouldn't think about going anywhere else! i came to jordan hoping to achieve 1 pullup- and now, the most i've ever done in a row is 10 (!!!) jordan creates programs tailored to my strength & physique goals and i've never felt more confident in my progress. he's super personable & down-to-earth, so having him as a personal trainer feels like training with a friend :) thank you for creating a fun environment while still pushing me to hit one more rep when it looks like i'm "sandbagging" it (also learned this term through jordan)

It's a fantastic place to train. In particular, Nathan is a very knowledgeable and encouraging trainer who really emphasizes learning and self-independence in exercise!

As a beginner to the world of training, Nathan took the time to understand and guide me towards my fitness goals. During sessions, he explains concepts well. For some concepts that were harder for me to grasp, he really tries to find alternative ways to explain them better and works to makes sure that I understand. He pushes you hard to reach your limits, but only because he believes in you and gives plenty of encouragements along the way. Even on days where I was lacking motivation, he still found a way to get me to give it my best effort.

Outside of dedicated sessions, he gives recommendations on gym exercises that I can do on my own time to reinforce or compliment the lessons covered and provides good resources for reference. Any time that I would have questions about a particular exercise, he's there to help. While it has only been several months since I first started, I have made sizeable progress towards my goal and learned a lot about proper training that I would not been able to accomplish on my own!

I’m in recovery from a foot fracture. I hit up Nathan for help to get back to skating and jogging. From my previous PT experiences once I got to connect with Nathan my mind was blown. I’ve been training with Jordan at Elite Strength Lab for 3 months now and am so excited about sharing my progress. In the past, I’ve done Pilates (not as consistently as I’d like), but wanted something different. So I decided to find a personal trainer and give weight training a try.

I reached out to the gym and talked to Julian, who was helpful through the onboarding process. He set me up with Jordan, who listened to my goals and set up a plan to get me there. I wanted to get into my best physical/mental state before a birthday milestone.

Fast forward 3 months, I’m down 18lbs (and counting), and have increased my strength in the process. Holding a pull-up at the top seemed impossible at the start, but now I’m holding it for 5 seconds and controlling it on the way down. These small victories keep me motivated to see how strong, mobile, and conditioned my body can get. With the expertise of the team here, I’m confident I can complete a full pull-up in the future.

This gym is slightly expensive, but it comes with good reason. They have quality, knowledgeable trainers that will help guide you through your fitness journey. I look at it as an investment to my future self, one that I’m glad I’m making today.

Julian’s a great trainer to work with whether you’re new or you’re experienced! He’s warm, knowledgeable, and pushed me to my comfortable limits. As a physical therapist, I am selective with who I work with, but I could tell that Julian stays on top of his foundations and is constantly learning new things to apply. Our workouts aren’t flashy because he takes time to teach the fundamentals, but that’s what works.

I went here with my brother and a friend for a few weeks and the experience was great. We worked with Nathan and his training was better than anything we had ever done in our own, even with another friend who had years of experience in the gym. Prior to training, I would have immense knee pain when playing pickleball. It would get bad enough that I had to resort to wearing a thick knee sleeve as well as take a week off every now and then to curb the pain.

Nathan Cardinal, a pickleball player himself, designed a routine for me to help with my overall play and mobility. His experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant and as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach would come into play as he would explain the purpose of each exercise in relation to the different movements necessary in the sport and attentively correct any form issues to engage the correct muscles. He would place heavy emphasis on mobility targeting my calves, hips, and legs. All the while, Nathan would always keep me motivated to make sure I got the most out of each workout.

Due to the selected exercises and mobility work, I've noticed a lot more power and fluidity in my swing thanks to my improved ability to rotate my hip. Within one month, my knee pain also decreased to the point where I no longer have to wear a sleeve when I play. I can't thank Nathan at Elite Strength Lab enough at helping me improve my game and giving me the tools to hopefully at some point in the future play pain-free!

I started a program with Nathan Cardinal back in February of this year. First of all he’s been working with me virtually for the most part, so I can only speak from my experience. Initially, one would think it’d be harder to stick to a program if it’s not with a trainer in person. However, it’s actually still effective in my opinion, he creates the program each and every month. If I have any questions, then he’s always right there to answer any inquiry I may have. It’s definitely not easy to stay consistent, but if you’re willing and really want to improve, then Nathan’s your guy. He’s been able to understand a problem and knows how to fix it right away e.g. I was having tingles and pain in my back, and when I brought up one of my exercises, being the RDL (Romanian deadlift), he immediately noticed from a video that I was just going to far down and that everyone has a certain range of motion so as to not hurt ourselves. This is just one of the many instances. Overall, I’ve had a great experience thus far, and I cannot wait to continue my program. Highly recommend.

You can't go wrong with any of the trainers here, but I have to highlight my trainer Jordan! He has a real talent for making the gym a fun experience while being sensitive and empathetic to the mental/emotional side of training. Prior to finding Elite Strength Lab, my relationship with fitness was very negative and insecure. Jordan has helped change that by teaching me so many brand new skills in the gym and allowing me to discover strengths/capabilities I didn't know I had.

I used to compete in Division 1 college track and field, and whenever I felt like I needed some additional strength work outside of team practices, I would schedule something with Julian. I still go to him now just for general fitness and to stay in shape.

It was always so interesting to see the similarities in Julian's workouts for me and the strength and conditioning coaches at my university. Julian utilizes the most up-to-date information, straight from kinesthetic academia. From season to season, my work with Julian would be modified slightly based on a new study that came out from a top university or even work that he or his peers have done in their own graduate research.

My 13 year old son trained with Nathan this summer to build a workout plan that he can do on his own. Nathan put together a workout that benefits a baseball player and could easily be done alone. Working out and especially going to the gym after a long period of time off has always been something that use to intimidate me. However I know that when I schedule a workout with Julian he's going to do everything in his power to not only make it a productive experience but an enjoyable one as well. Julian is a great motivator and really knows how to find the right balance to push you to reach the goals.

You can tell he's super knowledgeable about the things he's trying to teach you and that he isn't simply saying things to try and sound smart. He figured out I had a significant injury to my right rotator cuff, something that I always wrote off as being just a weak part of my body. This was an injury that most likely occurred way back during high school sports. Not only was he able to help me understand my problem but he also showed me exercises to help strengthen the surrounding areas without putting too much strain on my shoulder itself.

One day, I was desperate, painfully overweight, and afraid of taking a first step that would alter the course of my life. BOY, am I grateful I googled personal trainers and found Elite Strength Lab! From the moment I started speaking to Julian, he put my mind at ease with his warmth, impressive knowledge, and willingness to work with me. I was especially fearful of hurting myself since I was so out of shape, I knew I needed to tread carefully. When you’re obese and dealing with the sad consequences of not taking better care of yourself – it really is a matter of life and death, and Julian did nothing but make me feel supported. He set my hubby & I up with Scott who was not only experienced, but excellent with people who were wanting to incorporate physical fitness as a way to lose weight, improve coordination, balance and help with overall mobility. Scott was just what we needed and a sheer delight from the moment hubby and I met him. He really paid attention to our form and was always so patient and kind. Sadly, my elderly mother had a fall and my life for the next several months was focused on helping her heal – so I had to cut our training short. We didn’t have one problem getting reimbursed for the unused sessions. In fact, there were several texts going back and forth from myself & Julian where he inquired about the wellbeing of my mom – and myself! I guess what I’m trying to say is this – there’s a lot that’s scary in the world, but we do ourselves a world of good when we focus on what we can control – ourselves and the relationship we have with our magnificent bodies. These good folks here know how to help you do just that. Julian and his team are educated in fitness, the body and they CARE. For context, I'm a woman in my late 20s and was somewhat athletic in high school (over ten years ago) but never set foot in a "real gym". Nathan has been a great trainer from the start! I’ve never had a personal trainer, however Nathan is making it a great experience. He’s welcoming and genuine, making me feel comfortable learning all the new things he teaches.

With his educational foundation along with his personal continuing education journey, I can tell Nathan is always learning so he could offer his clients the best. From body weight exercises to help balance my body to plyometrics, our program is rounded and well thought out.

Got to check out Elite Strength lab and worked out & trained with Julian. He was attentive, communicative, respectful, and incredibly knowledgable. He demonstrated exercises and truly helped me nail my form down, all while explaining the science behind movements which I appreciated. He also gave good tips for warm up and cool down which I feel some trainers neglect. He’s both encouraging and challenging which I personally enjoy. The time is dedicated to you so you’ll get a great focused workout! Whether you’re looking to improve form or want a fun challenging workout, I would highly recommend Julian.

I have been working out with Julian for 2 months and he is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about fitness. Not only does he coach you on how to improve your technique, he provides in-depth explanations on how it will benefit you and the muscles being targeted. He keeps every work out fresh and exciting and pushes you to constantly improve.

I've had chronic shoulder/neck and knee pain for the last few years and his workouts definitely help alleviate my discomfort. He was also able to share why I've been experiencing pain prior to joining and why the workouts have been helping to reduce the pain. 5/5 stars!

I’m your typical 9-5 guy who’s trying to stay in shape and gain a little bit of strength.I had a couple of sessions with Julian now, he makes me really focus on getting the form correct on each exercise. My trainer, Julian, has been really helpful during all our workout sessions. I used to go to Crunch but recently transferred here because the environment is more personal. Also, check out the other trainers! The trainers are experienced and all have knowledge on how to effectively push us while keeping it safe. It also helps that I had some issues with my knees and it feels indestructible now. I would definitely recommend this gym and all the trainers!

Workout with Julian and Nathan here was great. I bonded with both of them and they pushed me to get back in shape for my volleyball season. They were super sanitary with the equipment, and easy to communicate with. Its very easy to make conversation with the both of them, and they communicate to each other to figure out my work regime. I've had personal training before and I'm old enough to need physical therapy after one injury or another.

I gotta say that Elite Strength Lab has put me on the road to recovery and greater control over my health.

I trained with Nathan and he's been a great resource in and out of the gym. I strongly recommend at least eight sessions since the first two are generally used to gauge where you are and how you are responding to the training. There are no shortcuts here. And this is one of those situations where saving time and money should not be your priority.

If you do the work and communicate clearly with your trainer, you'll be on your way to a healthier, fitter version of you. But make sure to clear any exercises with your primary care physician, especially if you're coming out of surgery or are taking medication.

There are few gyms that put forward the personalized effort that Elite Strength Lab has at their disposal. As a trainer, Julian posses an intricate knowledge of kinesiology and exercise which shows in his training sessions. Most importantly, he is able to channel his expertise to your specific fitness goals. Before, I was stagnant and hit a stark plateau in my physical progress. Immediately, Julian suggested alternative exercises and areas of focus that reignited my ethic in physical fitness.

Nathan, another trainer, worked with me on cardiovascular and calisthenic exercises (workouts that I barely did). His upbeat, yet motivating attitude transformed previously tedious exercises into productive and enjoyable workout sessions.

I would recommend the Elite Strength Lab to anyone looking to take their health and fitness seriously!! Julian has a great holistic training philosophy. He strives to educate his clients about the mechanics and chemistry of their body, and the training programs he creates actually achieve results. After training with him for 7 weeks (with a 2 week, food-filled vacation in between), I've lost 7 pounds. More importantly, it's been so satisfying to see physical changes like my arms getting more firm and old dresses fitting again. I feel more secure in my body knowing that it can move.
