Founded in 1926, The Embarcadero YMCA, located near the scenic waterfront, offers an enriching experience that combines cardio workouts with views of ferries, pelicans, and harbor seals, along with fresh bay breezes. With a 25-meter lap pool, activity pool, and Jacuzzi. We provide a relaxing environment for swimming and lessons. Our spacious Group Exercise Studios hosts a variety of classes, including rooftop cycling and TRX. The innovative Kinesis Studio on the third floor offers unrestricted movements through smooth-action cables. Our gymnasium offerers all of the standard exercise staples and our picturesque rooftop garden with outdoor classes and relaxation areas, add to the wellness experience. The elliptical, jogging and bike machines are positioned in front of open windows with a view of the Embarcadero, San Francisco Bay to Oakland Port and Ferry crossings. All with perhaps the cleanest "GOOD AIR QUALITY" city in the USA. The entire facility is open and Airy. Personal training sessions available and I find staff fully competent and pleasant. Entry comes with a complimentary towel which of course is left at the facility. The price is perhaps what makes this the best FITNESS deal available anywhere in this industry. Thank you YMCA YOU GET 4.7 Stars. If I could get my own lane anytime at pool that would get you 5.

I'm very hopeful that phone use will be banned entirely in the gyms especially the wet facilities and locker rooms even those that are making calls while on the machines. This pervasive need to make extended voice calls and video calls in gyms where others can hear these phone conversations has been so normalized that people with poor phone etiquette actually believe it's their right and privilege to disrupt others around them. If people must have a phone they can simply say to the caller I'm in the gym I'll call you in a moment and step outside the gym.

Beautiful location! Love the view of the bridge from the treadmill. The front and upper desk staff were great and one lady even showed me around. However when I went to look at the pool a man claiming he worked there stopped me and said that I couldnβt go in the pool unless I take a shower first which was awkward and then the female lifeguard said I couldnβt have my phone which was weird. I didnβt see them say anything like that to anyone but me the only black American there. Iβve been a longtime member of the ymca and was very disappointed with how they treated me.

A really good place to workout. There are a lot of exercise equipment in the gym. The pool looks spectacular too. I will be coming back here every Saturday to work out. It has a nice view of the bridge too

The strength training area is kind of rundown, with only two squat racks, both of them very old and far from the quality you find at the Oakland YMCA. The machines are also on the old side. I think they could rearrange some of the equipment to make the whole space more efficient. The pool is nice (and itβs a pool in downtown SF!!)

Recently, I found myself stranded in San Francisco, and the Embarcadero YMCA has been a lifesaver. The staff, especially manager Zach, were incredibleβhe provided me a lock when I was having a really rough day. Karina and Viviana helped me get a discounted rate due to employment loss and made joining simple even though I'm from Canada.
The facilities are outstanding, with beautiful views, top-notch equipment, and included towel service. Although the trial period is only one day, it's enough to see the value here. I highly recommend supporting this YMCA; they rely on memberships and donations and truly make a difference. Help however you canβthey deserve the support. Thank you guys!

First, you can't beat the view! If you're on one of the cardio machines, you're in for soaking in some beauty while you're soaking up a sweat, with pristine views of the Embarcadero, the Bay Bridge and the Bay. It always gives me energy; especially at sunset! Next I'll have to comment on the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff that work there. I am always blown away at how attentive and kind they are. This facility is top notch! Clean, friendly (staff and members), many amenities (I love the sauna and steam room, and the pool too!) and a variety of classes and well-maintained equipment.

I really love this gym. The location is awesome, I love that it has a view of the water from the windows. The steam room is great, I prefer it to a dry sauna and the other gym I used to go to only had a dry. The steam room seems to help ease pain better.
The staff are very cool, I like them a lot. The gym itself is big, and has the best selection of machines and weights of all the YMCAS Iβve tried in the area (Presidio, Chinatown, and Marin).
The pool is fun to swim in and not too cold. The hot tub is nice but I donβt use it often.

I have been a member at the Embarcadero Y for a very long time. The location is great, right across from my home, and the proximity to the financial district and the Embarcadero is perfect. I am moving out of the Bay Area, so l will miss working out here. I highly recommend the Embarcadero Y. The staff is very helpful, and the equipments are up-to-date.

This is the best gym in the city for me. I am a handicapped senior in a wheel chair on a fixed income. I'm telling you this place is the best it's beautiful. Love coming to this place with my students back in the day. The place is still great. You can buy a day pass for $20 and that gives you access of the entire building for the day. You can also access their classes and they have a pretty extensive schedule. Just for the classes itself, it's well worth the $20 you have to pay to get in. They have a row of treadmills that look directly out into the water and the Bay Bridge. How's that for inspiration to work out?

This is the best YMCA I've been to, puts others to shame. They have the best men's locker room with wide wooden lockers, very friendly and helpful staff and the location just can't be beat, right on the embarcadero. Ton's of classes, both aerobic and swim, personal trainers, heavy bag and they even have an Internet computer room with eleven computers. Full basketball court and big screen TV lounge, many children's programs and always very clean. The members are mostly upscale with just the occasional crazy homeless person who just breaks up the monotony. I hang out there all day sometimes. Almost forgot to mention the bay view from the weight & machine room, the steam room and sauna. Post office across the street and many restaurants from Japanese, Mexican to very upscale on the corner. Close (1 block) to 14, F and Market Street bus lines and Bart/Muni station, all just a short walk away. Hyatt is two blocks plus other nice hotels further up Market Street.
