The office staff is friendly and helpful. My kids had a few good coaches in the beginning. I definitely see the side of the negative reviews now as it happened to my own child. It's sad to see this happening to kids from grown adults.

The facility is great and most coaches seem to be knowledgeable and nice.

We have been going here for almost a year and have decided to pull our son out of both of his classes. I honestly think the coach is the issue as he is our son’s coach for both boys gymnastics and co-ed tumbling class. Every girl’s class looks engaging and productive, but for some reason our coach’s classes are just all over the place. There has been no improvement in his coaching skills or our son’s skills after almost a year. We thought maybe it was just the boys class, but the co-ed class is the same. It’s unfortunate as my son was really invested in this, but it’s just not worth the almost $200 every month for not one but two classes that show zero progress.

Five stars for the coaching staff named below, one star for the owner, also named below.

If you are thinking about checking out Empire, DO! It has excellent programs and the aforementioned five star coaches. Which is what makes writing the following so heartbreaking for me and, most of all, my eight year old daughter who has been so tragically impacted by this.

Of the coaches: Sarah, Justin, Moriah, and Alaina, I have the highest regards. New coach Steph my daughter adores though I don't have any personal experience with yet, but I trust my daughter's judgement of her.

It is with the owner, Mike, and one other coach who will remain nameless, that I have issue with.

At the end of the season our daughter and a few other girls did not move up to the next level. While our daughter finished second overall at State, we understood there was no guarantee she would move up. But we wanted to understand more why she didn't so we met with two of the coaching staff. It was there that we learned our daughter's skills would be reassessed in a few months and she might be moved up then. That was all fine and well but we asked the staff not to tell our daughter so she wouldn't get her hopes up if she didn't get moved up, and they agreed they wouldn't. That was all okay, too. What WASN'T okay was the following:

The coach who will remain nameless cited one of the reasons our daughter wouldn't move up was because she was concerned about her trauma background and her anxiety affecting her ability to perform at the higher level. WE know our daughter best, not that coach, and we know our daughter excels when she is challenged, NOT coddled by being held back. Discriminating against a child with a trauma background is not acceptable, even if in that coach's mind that wasn't her intent.

The other thing that wasn't okay was that one of the coaches we like a lot brought up in front of our daughter that her aim was to get our daughter to the next level by end of summer. Now we know this coach and like her a LOT and know she really meant what she said, but clearly there was a lack of communication between the two coaches we met with who we asked to NOT bring up the possibility of advancement in front of our daughter and the other coach.

This prompted us to then seek clarification on timelines since our daughter was asking, but now some of the coaching staff reported to Mike the owner that we were cornering them about it when we were the ones who DIDN'T want the possibility of advancement being brought up in front of our daughter in the first place. When Mike called us regarding this he at first came across very harsh with us rather than trying to understand all the details from both sides. He then told us that the teams as they had been drawn up were set and there would be no movement for any of the girls. If that's true, then why did three of the other coaches tell us there was a possibility of advancement?

Mike said he would talk to his staff and get back to us. When he called back, his resolution to the situation was kicking our daughter off the team! Because we asked questions! And at no time were we rude to the coaches (again, who we highly respect), nor raise our voices. And our daughter paid the price.

We are just stunned.

July 9, 2024 update: We just learned someone at Empire is now trying to blacklist our daughter! Another gym we really liked and hoped to enroll our daughter in got back to us today and said, "After talking to Empire we have decided that your daughter is not a good fit for us." Are. You. Kidding me!!! All because we "dared" to ask questions, Empire is taking it out on our daughter now through OTHER gyms!

Update: While trying to join another gym, they called Empire to get information on our daughter. Empire did not recommend they take her on as a student. They are trying to blacklist her from gyms in the area. This is very unprofessional and unkind.

The classes are great. The handling of the team is not. My daughter was asked to leave the team because I asked questions in the lobby.

LOVE this place! All the coaches and staff are wonderful! My 4yr old is a little more quiet and reserved but Coach Chase found a way to teach her without overwhelming her. If you are looking for a little exercise for your child or one day dreaming of Olympic medal, this is the place for you!

Tonight Empire hosted a birthday party for my son. We had the place to ourselves, the kids all had so much fun and so did the adults.
I especially want to thank Mia & Ari, our party hostesses. They were great with the kids, they were friendly and had great people skills.
Highly recommend for party’s and will be signing my son up for classes there. Probably my daughter as well.

They have a good amount of skilled coaches, and the girls team are really really good and the girls recreational classes are good too....However the boys are lost here...if you have a son I don't think they will learn much....the coach is soooo young and can't control his class at all...either another boys coach is needed or 1 of the girl rec classes should coach the boys. I don't think the boys need 2 have boy as a coach if he isn't qualified, a girl coach can teach boys and would do just as go job or hire a new boys coach. There is a huge difference from being a student of gymnastics and coaching gymnastics!!!! Just saying 😌

My grandkids go here, they enjoy their classes. The teachers all seem to work good with the kids. They have different levels depending on skill level and will level a child up accordingly once they've mastered all the skills in the level they're currently in. Good place for kids!

I wish I could rate more stars. We moved out of state after almost 2 years with Empire. They were our first gymnastics experience. Well, apparently there is a huge difference. Empire always took time to warm up the kids before class. They stretched and walked around positioning their bodies into the correct position if they were a bit off. During class, the teacher seemed to be able to keep their eye on the group, and I witnessed no accidents or major injury the entire time we were there. Needless to say, in our new city, we are struggling to find a place that even comes close to the way Empire handles their athletes and business. We miss them greatly!

Just had our birthday party here a few days ago the kids had a great time! My daughter just received a card from "Coach Nicki" wishing her a happy birthday, she was so excited to get mail! One of the easiest and affordable parties I have found! And my kids got to jump into a foam pit!

We attended a birthday party, my kids had a great time trying out all of the equipment and look forward to going back to Empire, they would like to have their birthday parties there. From the perceptive of a mom of 4 who has had many b day parties, this party seemed to be the least stressful party option. Because my kids wanted to have their parties there I picked up the birthday flyer and was surprised to find how affordable it was. What I also liked about the party was that the children were able to just play for the length of the party, there was no gathering up the group to move from one spot to another with the exception of when it was time for cake and presents. I'm actually looking forward to this years birthday party's!

Empire Gymnastics is amazing!!! My Daughter is a cheerleader and learns all her tumbling from coaches at Empire! They are fun, positive and teach the correct techniques! With the huge floor, foam pit, bars and trampolines there is plenty of room. Staff is super nice, very clean environment and has many cameras to watch from sitting area.

I love this gym because it is close to us. The instructors are awesome! Very informative and knowledgable. My daughter has progressed nicely with her team here so far. The only complaint i might have is watching her from the spectators section. Its closed off with only a few windows for parents to look through. It would be nice to have all windows or just an open area to watch and maybe a smaller kids area as i know they can be distracting. 😁

Love love love this gym. My daughter has learned so much more in the time that shes been here vs the other gym she used to go to. I feel like they really push the girls to their limit, which in my opinion, is a good thing. Only down fall is the seating. If u want to watch ur child , come early to be able to snag a seat. But even then you'll still be rubbing elbows with the person next to you.
