I brought my daughter to Encore gymnastics class, and she was so excited to be there. Sadly, Mary-Anne Bellante, the director, discriminated against my high-functioning autistic daughter. She informed me that my daughter needed to be in a special class after the first day even though my daughter is in cheer and has been in other gymnastic classes without any issues. She told me the following:

"Your daughter had to be in a different class for kids with autism" even though I requested that she be placed in a higher level class. She has never had to be placed in a special class, so this leads me to the conclusion that Mary-Anne is unwilling to give my daughter a chance.

"Your daughter is not following directions" As teachers and coaches, Camilla, the coach, needs to have better control over expectations and management. Also, this was my daughter’s second class. In addition, Camilla expressed that my daughter was really excited and that my daughter will be more calm once she attends more classes.

I asked her when the class for autism is, and she stated 2:30 or 3:25. This does not work with my schedule because I am a teacher. Once again, my daughter has always been able to join other kids without being placed in a "special" class.

I told her that I wanted to keep my daughter in her current class and asked what would happen if said no to the other class. She told me that my daughter "would not be part of this gym."

I replied "So you are telling me that my daughter can't be part of the class because she has autism?" She replied, "it's not about being autistic, it's that she is different."

Mary-Anne literally told me that she does not want her in her class because she is different. As stated previously, my daughter can and has been able to successfully be a part of normal classes without any issues.

This is very upsetting, and I believe it is important for all parents to know about this situation.

Encore in Walnut Creek is THE best place to host a kid's birthday party if you want an stress-free event with an all-hands on crew to assist almost every aspect on the party day. We've hosted multiple parties here for our son as and attended quite a few parties and the kids always leave here having a blast and asleep in the car afterwards. From arrival, the crew helps with unloading and getting kids onto the gym mat. The gym time is well staffed and the kids got to rotate across a variety of fun activities. Bonus for parents - we get to observe from upstairs and get a rare moment to catch up uninterrupted while multiple staff members lead the gym activities. The staff even helped me set up our train decor and when I arrived to help downstairs, all I had to do was add candles to the cake! Coach Eric is the best and his crew really shines and makes our parties memorable and stress free each time. Thank you Encore, we'll be back!

Erik and his team did AMAZING with our kiddo crew! We had 18 children who were hyped up and ready to party and they kept them organized with ease! (God bless ‘em 😅) lol it was so much fun and the ladies who were helping and organizing the room decor and pizza handing out and juice opening, you know, all the important stuff, did awesome and were so patient with the kids. 10/10 experience with no stress for us. Parent viewing area is a plus as well, feels like the VIP area of a club and we were able to bring coffee and donuts. Thanks again for making this awesome!

This is worth the stress of booking for the birthday party. Eric is hilarious, organized, kind and patient. The female coaches enlisted to manage our party were incredible, helpful, sweet and made this the best 5th birthday party! It’s amazing because you get the place to yourself, your kids have 4 phases of obstacles and routines to work through so they’re constantly engaged and busy. All the parents were so complimentary of the the birthday party and the kids had the best time. So grateful and will have future parties here.

Encore Gym in Walnut Creek Shadelands is an absolutely fantastic venue for a birthday party! We celebrated our little guy's fourth birthday here, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The staff did an amazing job keeping the kids busy and active the entire time, moving them from one fun and engaging activity to the next. From jumping and climbing to bouncing and running around, the kiddos had an absolute blast!

One of the standout features was how accommodating the staff was. They were incredibly helpful and took care of everything, which made our party planning so much easier. I also appreciated the preferential parking for the parents of the birthday child—it made dropping off decorations and food for the party room a breeze.

The energy in the gym was contagious, and it was such a joy to see all the kids smiling and having the time of their lives. If you're looking for a place to host a birthday party for your little ones, Encore Gym is the way to go! We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back for future parties. 5/5 stars for parties, and some of our friends totally agree!! Certainly worth looking into!!

I’m reaching out to notify management about their front desk staff (female) who was very unwelcoming to my family. I had general questions about enrolling my child and she made me feel as though I should have never approached her. How sad that this is how new customers are greeted. It’s unfortunate. Best of luck to you all on improving that.

This is an amazing gymnastics center. All age tumbling and skills classes. Dance. Camps. Clinics. Parents Night Out. Rock walls. Foam Pit. Trampolines. And super fun birthday parties can be had here. They have multiple specialty performance acro teams for all ages and skill levels. They perform multiple times a year at various events around northern CA and have a big showcase at the end of each season at the gym for the community. It's a really big event and it's so entertaining to watch. They even have a special team that travels internationally every 4 years to Gymstrada that's held at a different destination around the globe. Coaches are all amazing people who truly care about your kids and building life-long skills and confidence to take with them and utilize long after their time at the gym has passed. Setting goals, accomplishing them, and having fun while doing it is engrained in every child. I can't recommend this place enough for anyone who is looking to have a healthy active sports activity, join a team, casually attend, or want to learn all things gymnastics! It's a great work environment, too. If any kiddos out there are looking for part-time work! They accept applications and will train! It's a great summer job for teens! Great experience if interested in working with the youth!

We did a 8 year old birthday, with Kevin fs from 4-15.
Everyone had fun.
Staff was fantastic dealing with kids, clear instructions.
Party rooms are clean and have big windows.
Staff leads kids thru obstacle courses, trampolines, foam pits, and more.
Kids were tired when done.
Will do this again.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would!

First shout out to Tam, the owner who seriously thought of everything with kids, family, and parents in mind. It is so hard to come to the realization that we are moving and I'm not finding ANYTHING remotely close to what you offer!

I love Parent's night out, even though the Halloween party didn't go so well for my daughter Charlotte it's a great idea and appreciate it being offered. LOL

Shout out to Elke-who recognized my girl at Heather Farms, at In and Out and now is that friendly face we get to see everywhere!

You have drop-ins during the day for parents to come in and let little PLAY!?! Wish I'd known about this sooner! Thinking this would be a fun event for Mount Diablos Mom club! Hint: both should work together to set something up.
Your fees are well priced. You have lots of class times available. I love how you rotate the kids around. Your facility is amazing and well kept. Plus so much fun things to do including the foam pit! (Seriously FOMO here! Can I play too?)

You handled the pandemic with grace and I appreciate it! My energizer bunny needed a place to let out steam and I will always be grateful for Encore and your team for giving us a great introduction to Gymnastics. Focusing on the FUN but also the fundementals.

Great place for a kid to be. Encore became a part of my family for almost seven years. Both my daughters and even myself attended classes. Coaches are encouraging, fun and patient. Amazing stuff. We were super sad to leave Encore due to relocation, but will carry love to gymnastics anywhere we go!

This place will over Charge you. I paid on October 26th and again on November 26th
They canceled one class due to smoke & one class due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. So my girls only went to two classes for the month and they expect you to pay for the full month!
That is so Ridiculous. If you want to end up paying $40 per class (one hour on one day) and have a bunch of make up classes you can’t use, then this is the place for you. Management does NOT care about their customers.

This gym is the kind of gym that takes your money and doesnt provide the services. About a month ago we signed up for private classes. The instructor named eugenie taught my sister for one friday and cancelled on us for the following fridays because of her "busy schedule" several days later not knowing we were the same family, she contacted us saying she now has space for my brother to enroll and begin classes at the same time she previously cancelled on us. After mentioning we were the same family she said she will call back and never did. Yesterday, nearly a month after the day we registered we go to see what was going on. We waited until Bernadette, an extremely rude old lady who was no help at all came to speak to us. While we were calmly describing why we were there she rudefully cut us off to help someone else. This place had 0 respect for its customers. I Advise you to take your child to a place that respects both your child and yourself.

Such a fun place for a birthday party and they do a great job--I only had to bring cupcakes and water and that was it! The kids had a blast, they got to move around to different areas of the gym and try all the fun equipment. Trampolines and the foam pits were the biggest hit. :) My daughter had so much fun at her 5th birthday party here, we are going back for her 6th birthday party this weekend. Reasonably priced for birthday parties too, compared to some of the other birthday venues.

My daughter had her 1st gymnastic class experience at prewett park at the age of 4 and her coach recognized how so advance she was at a young age. Her coach referred her right away over to Encore coaches. She pass all her testing scores on top so she just tumble and flipped straight in @ the age of 4 with the 12 yr olds red group and she loves it!!

This place (foam) Rocks! We first visited East Bay Sports Academy for toddler gymnastics, and then heard from a playdate friend that they go to Encore, so we checked out Encore the next week. What a MAJOR difference for toddlers! At East Bay Sports Academy, I was running around after my almost 2 year old, sweating, and trying to keep him away from the groups of big kids doing their training. There was not another single boy, of any age, at the gym. Just one male instructor working with the teen girls. His class had 3 girls who were 1-2 years older, and the class was structured. Being his very first time, he didn't know the structure or rules and was too curious to sit down and wait, he wanted to explore instead. The instructor was very sweet, and we had an overall good experience. But when we checked out Encore, what a DRASTIC difference! There were as many boys as there were girls, all toddlers/young kids during his scheduled time, no big kids taking up the majority of the gym. My son could run around all he wanted, trying out all the different equipment and play set-ups. There were safety railings so I didn't have to worry about chasing after him everywhere. The space was decorated with fun colors. Our teacher was Elky, and although I liked the other instructor at East Bay Sports Academy, Elky outshined her, too. It was a completely different demeanor and vibe at the two gyms--and Encore is definitely toddler oriented during his set time classes (Encore hosts all ages, including adults). Elky explained that their gym is fun and there to promote parent-child interaction and a healthy lifestyle, as opposed to being a professionally training gym for competitions, like East Bay Sports Academy. Both are great gyms, just Encore was a shoe-in fit for us! I HIGHLY recommend going there! We signed up right-away and pre-paid for 2 months because he loved it so much. The other families were so warm and welcoming, also. It was playdate style. At Sports Academy, I was the only parent participating. Check it out--you won't regret it!
