Before EoS, this location in Encinitas was known as FROGS back in 1998. It still has the warmth of Moonlight Beach!

It has closed it's "Kids Klub"! Still, there's young and young at heart who work out. It a friendly place even though people are focused on their on progress in keeping fit!

Specifically, gratitude forward to my husband who motivated me to sign up with personal training with his personal trainer Brad Thomas! I am less vulnerable in falling down and hurting myself! Going on 3 years!

My experience has been satisfying. The personal training staff are educated and seem up-to-date with the latest therapy for older physiques like mine! And for younger bodies of which I am not part that could use proper guidance and alignment so there are no injuries!

Some of these machines could hurt you and you don't know what you are doing!

Being a revert member, I am happy to return and been a member since the end of lock-downs.

Thanks to the front desk who seem motivated to greet everybody! Thank you for the operational staff who keep the equipment in working order. Thank you for facilities for the tidy and clean environment! Appreciation to all!

The gym atmosphere is nice, they provide wipes and it feels cleaner than some other gyms I’ve been to, but their whole system is shady.

A few days before I was leaving for a vacation I visited the EOS gym and requested that my account be paused, but in order to do so I had to email Brandon Tsutsui. I sent a clear email with my name and all important information, but I was ghosted and got charged the typical monthly fees a month later. I sent another email and a month later was charged again. This is what resulted in me cancelling my membership, it is extremely unreliable and shady, and looking at these reviews makes me realize that I’m not the only person who has had trouble with Brandon Tsutsui not doing his job.

I’ve been working out for over 38 years. Play sports all through high school, college and afterwards. Just had a one on one session with Johnny, the best trainer at this gym hands down. Awesome guy, super friendly, and crazy knowledgeable. Why? He’s been worked out for decades and it’s also a bodybuilder. Deadly combo.

When I started my training the sales person did not tell me that there is a 3 month commitment right off the bat. He also did not tell me that if I wanted to cancel later on EOS would charge me 2 more times before they actually cancelled my contract.

I'm paying $300 for 4 1-hour sessions a week - I implore you to ask how much the trainers keep of this.

I’ve been a member here for 3 years, and this is by far the worst gym experience I’ve ever had. EOS promises a free year if you bring 3 members who stay 3 months — I did exactly that, and 9 months later they still refuse to honor it.

Every time I ask about it, I have to retell the story because staff turnover is constant and no one takes responsibility. Manager Michael Laguna was rude, dismissive, and disrespectful. The general manager Brandon Tsutsui has ignored my emails requesting cancellation of my membership and my son’s.

On top of all that, the gym is constantly overcrowded, and the equipment is old.

This place is unprofessional, dishonest, and unreliable. They don’t honor their own promotions, management doesn’t care, and the workout experience itself is awful. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.

Incredibly shady business practices do not allow you to cancel your membership. Automated phone lines that give no option to do so. Employees trained to gaslight you and refuse cancellation, directing you to a phone robot that does not allow one. I will be reporting this to the FCC, the BBB, contacting my lawyer, and organizing a class action lawsuit against this scam cancellation model.

I'm genuinely stunned by how I was treated by Chris, the regional manager at EOS. I approached him calmly--though admittedly frustrated--to ask if there was any way to either donate our unused personal training sessions for a tax write-off or receive a refund, given how poor the service had been and how we didn't use them all. I wasn't trying to argue; I was asking about our options and explaining our reasoning.

Instead, he raised his voice at me, huffed and puffed, mocked me, and said things like, "You're not listening to me," and, "You've made it completely clear that there's not a day on God's green earth where you would ever recommend our training." He also said "you're not the first person in the world who has gotten pregnant and needed to transfer or freeze your sessions" after I just told him for medical reasons during my pregnancy I couldn't use the sessions . Stunned and somehow not raising my voice back at him I responded with "yeah, I would imagine" since it's never what I was implying. His tone was super aggressive and completely unprofessional--especially toward a paying customer seeking a fair conversation.

We were told clearly at sign-up that the sessions would never expire. That's what we based our purchase on. There was no paperwork to suggest otherwise--just vague terms and a quick "sign here" approach on an electronic pad. We would never have invested in this if we'd known how awful their service (or lack their of) and training program would be.

The training itself was extremely disappointing- low quality, inconsistent, and trainers were constantly changed without notice. My husband sometimes would show up for a session and it would be a new trainer- that he never had met and wasn't told a thing! He had this happen multiple times. Eventually, we stopped using it because it just wasn't worth our time which was our reason for finally calling to see if they could make the best of this situation for us (but haven't).

We understand policies exist, but we were misled from the start--and then treated with total disrespect and a demeaning, aggressive tone and response when we tried to ask questions. A (much) different response and handling of this would've made the world of a difference (like any good business would know).

We just joined and can’t say enough about the staff at EOS. Everyone has been warm and welcoming special shout out to Cardi, &! Xavier, at the front desk. My workouts have been great, and the classes are challenging. With my monthly membership being so affordable I was able to start a personal training program with Savannah who was very knowledgeable and encouraging (and I still pay less monthly than my last gym !!) Fits All Your Needs

I’ve been coming to EōS for over a year, and I still look forward to every workout. The gym is stacked—indoor and outdoor squat racks, tons of free weights, and dumbbells that go all the way up to 140 lbs.

What really sets it apart, though, is the recovery room and sauna. Total game changer.

Sure, it gets busy sometimes, but that’s true of every gym around here. The vibe’s solid, the guests are respectful, and I’ve met some awesome people along the way. Can’t recommend this place enough!

The men's locker room has an ant infestation. While I was leaving, I found ants crawling on my motorcycle jacket. On my way home, I had to pull over because ants were crawling on my arm. Seriously discusting and was a huge safety concern.

I signed up for their black membership, their highest tier membership, a little over a year ago. Since then, they have notified me that they have increased my membership by 30%.

I read through my contract, and showed the manager where it says "No change to any printed term in this Agreement (the price) shall be valid" and she deflected all questions and comments I had. I'm no lawyer, but I'm sure EOS has ways of changing their own agreement after it has been signed by the customer, but this is just one of the myriad of problems I've had with EOS.

So, if you don't mind being locked into a contract with a gym that will increase your prices by 30% every year, then this is the gym for you!

Very bad customer service. If they do something wrong, they never take responsibility. They were supposed to cancel my membership, but they didn't, and they were charging me without me knowing for several months. Now, no one responds to my complaint, and no one takes responsibility.
I called so many times, and I even made an appointment with a manager, but he didn't show up. And he doesn't respond to my emails.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with EOS Fitness in Encinitas. I went in for a one-day trial, and they assured me that I would not be charged. However, I later found out they had charged me for an entire year’s membership—while I wasn’t even in the country!

I reached out to Michael Laguna, their Operations Manager, multiple times. Not only was he indifferent to the fact that I had been charged hundreds of dollars for a membership I never used, but he also promised to refund the annual fee and the first month’s payment. Instead, he ghosted me and continued charging my card without authorization.

This level of dishonesty and poor customer service is unacceptable. I would never recommend EOS Fitness to anyone. They are more interested in taking your money than providing any real value or service. Avoid this place at all costs.

Mia is amazing. She was incredibly helpful and straight forward about the prices of everything, the cancellation process, and what kind of equipment/busy times I’d be able to expect. It was awesome how she introduced me to everyone on the tour, like I joined the gym already knowing some faces. I really appreciate how much time she spent with me because I had many questions. She was so kind! The gym itself is a wonderful price for how much equipment there is. Big bathrooms and sauna. I have no complaints. This place is the most disgusting gym I’ve ever been to. The last 3 times I’ve used their massage chair area there has been ants on the chairs. It’s inexcusable and truly disgusting. The manager simply said this is okay because they spray once a month. I am warning everyone I know not to join until the problem is resolved. I’ve tried to cancel my membership in person and over the phone. Both times I was lied to and told the membership would be cancelled and no other work on my end needed. As someone that works in boutique fitness I understand that I need to pay one more month, the real issue is the down right deceitful customer service. READ THIS BEFORE AGREEING TO “TRIAL” MEMBERSHIP!!!
On July 26, 2024 I entered into EOS Fitness in Oceanside Ca to look at the facility. After touring the facility the gentleman pitched me a membership. I asked if there is a trial period. He brought over another gentleman who explained that the first month would be “One dollar” and I will be charged for the next month and yearly fee in one month, which amounted in total to $79.98 to be charged in one month IF I chose to continue the membership. I was told that I had 7 days to check out the gym, then I was told I had a month to check out the gym.
On August 1, 2024, one week after joining, I went to the gym to cancel the membership for various reasons.
1) much of the equipment is not well cared for.
2) The gym was very busy during the times I went
3) the stair stepper had dust in the air vents at both Oceanside and Encinitas location which is disgusting
4) There was not enough added value for me to justify keeping this membership compared to other gyms in the area.
When I arrived at EOS Encinitas I was told that they no longer process cancellations at the desk and I’d have to go onto the EOS website, go to the FAQ section and find the question about cancellations, then click the link and fill out the form.
Upon attempting to do so, the link took me to another website that would not accept my EOS login.
I ended up needing to register for an account on this website but to do that I needed my “agreement number” but the agreement number in my profile was not the correct number. Finally after probably 20 minutes, with some other number, the associate was able to get me registered. When I went to cancel the membership it made me pay the $80 to cancel, and would not let me cancel without agreeing to pay. This is a complete bait and switch scam. I want a refund and I want you all to stop scamming people. There are so many other gyms in the area, no need to waste your time and energy here.

3rd UPDATE: I had emailed the manager who, in the response displayed below this review acted like she has never heard the information before months prior to updating on Maps. My first course of dealing with anyone is not public criticism. I know how hard it is to manage people, and I would never opt to review any company online unless it was really bad.
It took me over a year and the front desk people actually recommended that the only way to get a change would be to review online. So far no change!!!! The sauna is about 140 to 150 at all times and they claim they will raise it when I get there, but then change their minds because the females are 'on a break' or whatever. How is it possible to be on a break for 3 years?????
Also, the GM of the club emailed a response denying any of the factual statements I made over 2 years ago. Instead of addressing the serious problems, she instead tried to incentivize me to quit the gym. She wrote her name and purposely wrote it from another email address. Appears to be a highly deceptive and manipulative person from the email which would explain the absurd problems all over the gym. UPDATE: It seems to be higher during certain times of the day which tricks me into getting in. Then as im in the trmperature dives way down. It is always 10 degrees lower than what it says on the thermostat. I am inclulding a pic which shows its under 110 degrees in the sauna. PREVIOUS POST:Sauna is always below 160. They set it low on purpose. I was instructed to post here because the suggestions are purposely ignored.

UNETHICAL AND MISLEADING SALES/ENROLLMENT TACTICS.

I came in for a free trial, and after 45 minutes of showing me the gym, paperwork, etc. (way too much hand-holding for a free trial), I agreed to provide my account information and pay $1 so that should I wish to sign up (aka not cancel), my enrollment fee would be waived. They told me that I had 7 days to cancel which was the length of the free trial.

I decided to cancel the free trial / membership on day 6. When I called to cancel the trial, they told me that cancellation requests take 3-5 business days to process and that I'll likely be charged for the first month - nothing they can do to expidite and "it's in the contract that I signed". THE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME I HAD 7 DAYS TO CANCEL.

On top of that, the gym is dirty and equipment is old. Hence me wanting to cancel. I just moved to town and was genuinely trialing the gym - not just looking for a free workout.

My daughter (with special needs) and I have been members at EOS gym since the beginning. We have loved working out there before the Covid pandemic and it took us i while to get back in. The equipment is always available, the place is clean and you can’t beat the price for a gym this size. When we did go back, we signed up for personal training. We loved our trainers Sarah and Sam. They modified training for us, which isn’t always easy ( we are 4’4” and 4’11”. They always have a pleasant attitude worked with us. I highly recommend EŌS gym in Encinitas!

Basic gym with normal equipment, super friendly front desk staff but the sales associate named Ross has lied and scammed me and multiple other people at this gym giving false information to get your credit card info and charging it with random fees throughout the month you were told were not on your membership plan. I know salesmen are usually shady, but this experience in particular was lame because I purposefully asked and went through him for my membership so he would get commission after being under the impression he was helping me out and being truthful. Got out of this gym and joining one where I don't feel scammed everytime I walk in the door.

I LOVE THIS GYM! It’s my favorite EOS gym in Southern California. I was going to one in LA and Point Loma, but this one is my absolute favorite. Everyone is so nice, respectful and it’s just a good vibe.

My new favorite thing is recovery room with epic massage therapy chairs/beds 💕

Came to this gym while I was visiting and was impressed! Clean, had everything I needed and the staff was super friendly. The girl who helped me out was Claudia and she was awesome. Will definitely be going back next time I visit!

Friendly staff. Greeted by a smile and conversation by Alejandro every morning. Love the group classes. Spin and Ride and define with Cat and Susan. Wish there were more interval training or circuit training classes provided. It has a neighborhood feel and the members have become friends. I do miss being able to bring my dog, and the members ask me often if they will have an outdoor dog play run like they used to. It was a special touch to the vibe of this location.
