Horrible Gym
Staff has absolutely zero competence all around
Management needs to make some serious changes

I have no idea how people take them seriously as a business, dryers have been broken for almost a year, same with sinks, sauna turns off before closing. I have let the manager know about all of this and nothing has changed.

Your gym staff is absolutely ridiculous. They are the most entitled employees I've ever experienced.
They act like its their family gym or something and you are intruding. They want YOU to greet them and say goodbye first as if they are not the one being PAID to be there.

Today I overheard one of your desk staff, Kyle asking a patron if he puts his dishes away at home? This was after he was forcing him to re rack his weights. What an absolutely ridiculous thing to say to someone while telling them to do your job for you. They sit in the front desk all shift doing nothing and when its time to work they tell you to do it for them with attitude and disrespect on top of it. Why would anyone tolerate this behavior? I pay my hard earned money to come here instead of the pleathora of other gyms and my thanks is being treated worse.

Who teaches these kids manners? Who is training them? Don't know their names as they got rid of name tags, but one other hispanic guy and black dude are consistently rude, they don't act like they are clocked in at a job, they act like they are just chilling at home or something.

The janitors? They don't know english first of all.
Second of all they constantly vacuum right next to you as you train.
Why dont you have them clean when the gym is empty? It is absolutely ridiculous having these people constantly vacuuming in your way. If they were more careful about getting in peoples spaces maybe it would be okay but they blatantly ask you to move your bag mid set! In order to vacuum....

Ive never had ANY of these issues at ANY of the CHEAPER gyms around the area. I've been training almost everyday for 8+ years.

I am going to reach out to EOS corporate.
Avoid this place until you know management has had a BIG attitude adjustment.

Both Mario’s at the Front desk area in the morning shift set the tone. I’ve watch them both interact with unfriendly guest and maintain professionalism while helping other guest. They both great members every morning by name. 1st name basis is amazing.

The personal training team is amazing. I believe it’s an essential program to new gym goers. Michael the manager is very kind and great with follow up and making sure you’re seeing results. I personally loss 10 lbs working with Anna Marie and Martin.

Went to try and get a 7 day trail like advertised on their website, they refuse to give it to me. The exact words "we don't really give 7 day trails due to the gym exceeding capacity very often". ( in other words always to busy. He proceeded to offer to show me the gym and the $1 sign up offer.. I told him no thanks. I can't sign up to a gym with out a trail and then being told it to busy most of the time.

I actually left Gold’s for a gym closer to home but ended up returning for the variety of equipment, cleanliness, hours, and overall experience of this location. The staff is also friendly, helpful and knowledgeable which is great! One feedback I have heard is that there are “a lot of tripods around,” but I personally don’t mind others recording their workouts.

Gold's Gym Northridge is NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY as compared to the Philippines branch. I availed of FREE TRIAL and canceled it on the 5th day because it's kinda far from where I live. The person who received my call said that he canceled the membership already. After 2 weeks I was CHARGED $59.99 for membership. I called again to complain this but they said they'll call back because their manager is busy. Tried it 3x but they never called back. After 2 weeks, I was CHARGED AGAIN $19.99 monthly. I called 3x, with the same narrative. They're manager is busy.

I tried the email at the same time. On my first charge, they didn't respond. On the most recent charge, they apologized but THEY CAN'T REFUND MY MONEY ANYMORE. IS IT MY FAULT THAT YOUR STAFF ASSURED ME THAT HE CANCELED THE MEMBERSHIP THEN I PAY AROUND $80 BECAUSE HE'S NOT DOING HIS JOB?

Treadmills and machine are unfortunately not maintained/repaired swiftly. Last week there was trash in a locker for more than three days and it did not get cleaned out. Showers were broken twice in the last week and only a small sign at the entrance mentions it. Even if not busy, no one bothers to verbally point out to clients that showers are not working to make sure they know. Two or three people behind the desk, not busy as they are just chatting. Especially in the morning when many are going straight to work and now without being able to take a shower. Please take a little more pride in customer service.

The 6am Les trip ride is pretty enduring our instructor Tina Houston is the best her greeting everyone walking in and guiding us during our rides is rather soothing and challenging at the same time if you are looking for more challenging rides with Tina her RPM ride at 6 am Thursday is a very advanced class that she makes it look smooth along with her play list the ride flows seemlessly. So this gym is nice and has alot of equipment. That being said, it is wayy too crowded every hour of every day. There has never been a time even close to closing at 11:30pm that I didnt have to wait for a machine. I have no choice but to come here due to its proximity to my work.

I do have platinum access and try to get most of my workout done in the platinum rooms. Even those rooms get crowded and equipment walks off from them sometimes.

Getting in any machine can mean waiting along time though. The main problem at this gym is just the amount of ppl, mainly young ppl. You can bring a guest for free almost without limit, so it makes for alot of doubling up at machines. So you have to wait for 2 sets of 2 ppl sometimes at machines.

It almost needs a 3rd platinum room just for a few weight machines or even extra cardio. I at times have to wait even for cardio machines. Also they clean your cardio machine while you are on it? Kinda annoying.

Also alot of other locations give you towel service with Platinum. This one doesnt. That would atleast mitigate some of the downsides of this gym. But not even towel service here for high paying members. Im willing to pay for a faster and more efficient workout but that is not possible at times at this gym.

My first visit August 21, 2025. I wanted to check this gym out, but every time that I have to go in I need to fill out an online form for the trial week instead of giving us a barcode or a code to give it at the front desk. The GYM is okay. You will start doing exercise the moment you walk in you have to go down the stairs like 30 stairs and when you walk out, you will finish your workout going up the stairs ha ha ha.🤭🤭

Gold's Gym Northridge is the best all around in the San Fernando Valley. Best of all for me, it's about a mile away from where I work. The receptionists and the rest of the staff have been great to me. I would recommend this gym to anyone who is looking to make a change in their life and needs some motivation to start exercising.

dont usually come here but definitely pay the membership. went in about 7:20pm tonight and forgot my keys because I was given a ride and had asked a tall mexican tall adult dude (the one without glasses) next to the check in stand if I could give him my ID because I dont have my card.

He rudely said no and scooted a sign that said to have my card ready and went about helping everyone else out. This guy needs more training on how to have a relationship with people and know what customer service is. Thee most uproffesional person I've ever met at that location.

I tried calling back to speak with a manager and was told no one was available and to try calling the next day. Thinking of canceling my membership because of this dude. Dont know his name but whoever is hiring this type of person doesn't make me want to ever come back there.

Great clean gym!! I even used my free pass and invited my sister to join me and she loved it!! I was shopping around different gyms and this one has great customer service and clean. Gold’s gym does have good memberships prices. I had another gym across the street and it was dirty, couldn’t find parking and then I went to gold’s gym and it was night and day completely different experience so I recommend Gold’s Gym to anyone!!

I joined this gym almost a year ago cause of my friends and although it gets packed especially at night, I rarely have any problems. The gym is clean and so is the lockerooms. On June 8th, 2025, I was at Gold’s Gym specifically the Northridge, CA location, when my belongings were stolen. From eye witness testimony, the maintenance woman approached the thief due to her suspicious behavior, but still refused to step in and/or report the thief’s suspicious behavior. The thief left with the belongings, to which the front desk people did not stop the thief in her way out, and also questions, how the thief was also able to enter the building. Lastly, when the only person even considerable of being apart of the management team (the assistant manager) was asked to check the footage of the cameras that could potentially show the thief leaving the locker room, I was told “I cannot access the cameras because I don’t have access to them cameras”. The employees did not call the police but filed a report, to which I have received no apologies nor updates as to what the next steps are. And there seems to be no mention or evidence of any changes for the future to help avoid this situation again.

This whole situation has cost me time and money (~$1000 in costs) for replacing all that was stolen from me (credit cards, licenses both vehicle and professional, house keys, car keys, and important documents) when this could have been remediated with proper surveillance, supervision, and better oversight as to who comes in and out of the gym area.

Looks good at first, but it’s all lies.
Once you sign the contract and pay, the staff changes their attitude completely. The gym is overcrowded, full of people filming for social media, and you’ll spend more time waiting than working out.
I paid for a trainer who did nothing helpful. When I asked for a refund, they gave me a hard time — until I took legal action and won. They offered me 6 free months as an apology, but I refused. I’d never go back, even if they paid me. Stay away.

Richard isn’t a nice manager. He’s rude and disrespectful. I already left a lengthy yelp review about my experience. Too bad Google has character limits on how much you can write. All I know is be wary with the employees. If you have certain physique (fit, muscular, etc.) you’ll be treated better than your average person and Richard made that bluntly clear. Do better Richard and do better golds gym by training your employees.

Richard, your customers aren’t just daily quotas and numbers. I needed some guidance and help on a pricing matter at Golds gym in Northridge. I was referred to Tony Johnson who is the Regional Director. He was superb. He spent alot of time with me and really helped me to achieve what I needed. He is a very nice gentleman, professional, kind, patient and most of all honorable. Quality equipments for sure. Thats what makes me to stay here but same time there are issues here. Benches are very close to the free weights dumbbells. We constantly bump to each other. Also benches are installed improperly and crooked. Lousy way of installing and more like careless. I would also say this gym feel like is a Abendoned. No one really pays attention to the equipments for missing parts or to service unless you tell the front desk and that takes loooong time and never gets done.
I wonder where my $49 yearly maintenance fee is used for….

I only have two complaints. I have AT&T and my Phone will not work on your Wi-Fi for text messages or apps. I do get phone calls My biggest complaint is The dumbbells. They are always like a shuffle of weights all over the place For example, Today I went to find 25 pound dumbbells and there was 150 pound dumbbells in the 25 spot (I can’t even pick them up to move them in the right spot) and when I looked around there was a 20 pound in 100 pound spot I couldn’t even find them I end up using 15s that were in a 15th because that’s all I could find out in a 30 pound spot. It’s always like that every single morning it’s a little frustrating

I usually go to the Golden gym in Hollywood, but this Northridge gym, the only thing they have is that it looks gorgeous and everything is new, other than that they have no power service, they’re building an accounting department is very unprofessional, I already had altercations where they wouldn’t let me in the gym because my payment that went through, didn’t show up in their system, so they literally didn’t let me come in the gym when I had actually paid, on top of that if you want towels, that’s a platinum member you have to pay for them, honestly, if you’re just looking for a workout to take videos and stuff as such is the perfect gym other than that, I recommend you to go to the other locations, yes, they are older and not as nice, but at least they have full service and are more professional

Few months ago I left ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ here - now just ⭐
The gym is great, the equipment is there, but there’s one big issue. The number of people clearly exceeds a comfortable limit. You can end up waiting 30+ minutes for a machine, even when trying to switch exercises. A workout that should take 1-1.5 hours ends up taking significantly longer.

A gym’s purpose is to provide people with the ability to train, not to stand around waiting. Fix this—expand, regulate memberships, or find another solution, because training under these conditions is a struggle.

Just switched from planet fitness to golds gym due to the promotional they were offering. To be fully transparent with anyone thinking of switching / signing up id only do so when they’re offering a promotional. I don’t think the membership is worth 55 dollars and I’ll list why below:
- the gym has been over crowded every time I’ve come since switching, even right before close or randomly in the middle of the day. The time it’s taken me to complete my exercises has gone up drastically because half the time I’m waiting to use the machinery. And even though they’re so much more expensive than planet fitness they have far less machinery.
- almost no one I’ve seen in the women’s locker room follow any of the posted rules. Phones are constantly out and pictures constantly being taken while I’m trying to change. With the sauna and steam room especially people never rinse off, and will blatantly be on their phone wearing their gym clothes and applying strongly scented body lotions to name a few.
- If you do the complementary training session offered to new members the manager will shame you for not being able to/wanting to pay hundreds if not thousands of dollars for a personal trainer. At least that was my experience. He said verbatim to me, “will this really break the bank?” And when I said I didn’t have extra money to spend on a personal trainer (which is true hence why I was previously a member of planet fitness) he said “but you need to invest in yourself” amongst other nasty remakes and predatory behavior. He made me feel ashamed for not having the money to afford a trainer. I’d love one if I could!

I say all this after having only just recently switched my membership a week ago, and honestly I wish I’d done the trail period before committing.

Was in person and canceled my membership before moving away to an area that doesn’t have a Golds near by. Then 5 months later received calls from collections that this next years membership was late. No emails or anything. Collections billed for a full year but membership was still cancelled. This is fraud

Honestly it has gotten intensely crowded, do not trust the “popular times” section that shows you how busy it may be because it is clearly not accurate. I usually see people making lines to just use the treadmill/stair master, now imagine the machines. Idk they really need to do a crowd control or something, because this place used to be the best gym.

Gold’s Gym Northridge - A Top-Notch Fitness Experience!

Gold’s Gym Northridge is an excellent place to work out, whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned athlete. The facility is spacious, clean, and well-equipped with a wide variety of machines, free weights, and functional training areas. The staff is friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with any questions.

One of the best things about this location is the energy—there’s a great mix of people, and the atmosphere is motivating. The group fitness classes are fantastic, with skilled instructors who make workouts engaging and effective. The gym is also well-maintained, with plenty of equipment available, so you rarely have to wait for a machine.

If you’re looking for a gym in the Northridge area with a strong community vibe and all the amenities you need for a great workout, Gold’s Gym is a solid choice. Highly recommend!

An absolutely dangerously crowded gym with zero regard to safety. They make it IMPOSSIBLE to cancel your membership. The manager Joe is completely rude, unprofessional, and will gaslight you. Literally screaming at the front desk "I do not cancel memberships" to make a scene in front of everyone. Crazy.
They will hire literally anyone including trainers without ANY credentials, experience, or qualifications.
There is right and there is wrong and this company will choose wrong every time by supporting Joe. They have truly shown that they only care about money and it's so heartbreaking to watch.
The only good people there are Alejandro and Lorenzo!! Compassionate, SMART, understanding, and will listen and try to resolve any issues. Definitely ask for either of them when visiting the gym!
