I got a massage with Basil at Equinox Culver and it was amazing. He’s very kind, friendly, and attuned. It’s like he intuitively knew what I needed and delivered with precision. It’s a nice gym overall. I like it.

Terrible experience with Equinox- completely unreasonable and unethical policies

I’ve never written a negative review before, but my experience with Equinox Culver City deserves one.
I signed a membership contract there, but due to life circumstances I had to relocate from Culver City to Long Beach, a completely different city over 20 miles away. I provided proof of my new address (signed lease) and requested to cancel my membership under a valid relocation reason.

Their response? A flat “no.”
They insisted I continue paying for a club I can’t possibly attend, as if I should be driving almost an hour each way just to justify their absurd contract terms.

This policy is not only unreasonable, it’s predatory. Life changes happen, people move, jobs change, leases end, and any decent fitness brand should understand that. Instead, Equinox hides behind fine print and forces you to pay for something you physically cannot use.

Equinox markets itself as a premium lifestyle club, but their behavior is anything but premium. It’s manipulative, profit-driven, and shows zero empathy or customer care.

I strongly advise anyone considering joining Equinox to read the contract carefully and think twice before signing anything. Once they have your signature, they’ll treat you like a number, not a human being.

Equinox may look luxurious on the surface, but underneath, it’s pure corporate greed.

I’ve been a member at Equinox for about a year, and recently I was honestly close to switching clubs after weeks of trying (and failing) to get a call back about my account.

Then I met Shaey, and she completely turned my experience around. I stopped by right before closing, and even though she was about to head out, she stayed with me for nearly an hour helping one of my employees set up a membership and patiently walking me through every question I had.

She went above and beyond when no one else did. That level of care and professionalism is rare, and it’s exactly why I’ll be staying with Equinox. Shaey is an absolute star.

I signed up for a membership and later downgraded, but was locked out of my account with no access during the process. The refund took far too long to process. Equinox needs a better system in place for managing membership changes and customer communication — it was a frustrating experience overall.

This Equinox is the worst location I've personally been to. Over crowded, constantly waiting for machines- with rude clientele that won't let you work in. We didn't even visit during peak hours. Parking wasn't difficult to find as it was a Sunday afternoon, however the structure isn't the easiest to navigate with other cars buzzing around- I can't imagine it busy.
The biggest issue to note was the woman on speaker phone, FaceTime, with a man in the woman's locker room with naked women walking to/from the showers. I immediately approached the woman asking her to hang up, which led to a pretty intense argument, ridiculous juvenile name calling and threats to call the police. She still would not hang up the phone. I attempted to get management involved but they didn't seem particularly interested in stopping her- asking me to search through pictures of members to identify her, instead of sending someone in have her hang up. Unprofessional and unethical. Plenty of other clubs to visit.

A few good and bad things about this one, while overall I would recommend it:
- the good: group fitness classes, good choice and great instructors
the layout of the gym is good and they have multiple squat racks and benches, so even when it's crowded, you can complete your workout
- the bad: parking is not the easiest, what's worse is that the parking attendants / managers (the ones you call when exiting) are nasty, always try to make you pay even though it's their validation system fault - never experience anyone as nasty (from multiple people, not just one person) as at this location
locker room during busy times can get messy, towels could be an issue

There are about five equinox locations within 15 minutes of me, and this one is my second favorite. I like that all of the workout areas/classes are on the lower level and the locker room/spa/deck/etc are on the second floor. And even though the location has been around for a while, it's got a nice new look. And there's also a kids club (haven't used it in a while), smoothie bar and it's in a great location in Culver City. Parking is easy and the atrium of the main building is a great spot to work with a few restaurants/coffee shops/etc on the other side.

The yoga room isn't going to wow anyone but I really like the Thursday 45 min class at 12 pm with Sarah (warm yoga) as it's the perfect temperature and length.

Hit me up @therideshareguy on IG if you'd like to try it out with a free guest pass.

We did a one-month trial, but ultimately cancelled our membership before being locked-in for an entire year (so weird that gyms do that still, but anyway).

On a positive note, it's quite clean. I'll leave it to you to determine if that's worth the price of admission.

There are a lot of group classes to choose from, and we went to a four or five of them. Our consensus was that they were just okay. It's always weird to me when I'm in better shape than the instructor, especially since I'm not a gym-rat.

The most disappointing part of the gym is the entire weight lifting area. Machines arranged in a big circle around the free weights. Lighting is like a dentist office (no offense to dentists). It's tiny, so expect to wait. There are the occasional tripod setups as well for the influencers.

In the end, the ROI was just not there. Classes were "meh", and weight room was subpar for the price.

We ended up joining IconFit in Santa Monica.

Tried to contact gym 7 times about transferring access membership to new location since I moved but no one got back to me so I ate 3 months of membership. It's insane gyms can still do this unless you physically go in, especially gyms with monthly subscriptions this high. Isn't there an entire membership team assigned to this exact thing?

The Pros: easy parking, very very clean locker rooms & working equipment.
The Cons: The price is ridiculous.

But at this point there simply is no other option in our area that works for me. Gymtonic is less $$$ but is lacking in equipment. LA fitness is crazy overcrowded.

So I'm back at the Culver City Equinox until another option comes along. I had high hopes for gymtonic but it's missing too many machines.

Equinox classes are very good as well and no other gym in the area compares if you're someone who does classes. I rarely take class, but when i do it's always on point.

Excellent classes & gorgeous building. Management is very good. Always has bands available. Team always seem nice & helpful. The spa service in terms of massage is not good though. Had a bad massage and no simple solution for it. I had to beg do get a small credit back for 2 massages that was for my BF & I. He went first & then me. That’s when I realized. It was probably top 3 worst massages of my life. Other than that. Always love this gym.

I absolutely love this gym! Even compared to other Equinox locations. It’s clean, offers an amazing variety of classes, and has an intimate, exclusive feel due to its smaller size. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the staff, who are not only friendly but also highly skilled, professional, and fit which is very motivating! The community and routine I’ve built here make working out a pleasure.

The gym’s design is another highlight, with beautiful windows, a well-thought-out layout next to One Culver, and plenty of nearby restaurants that add to the convenience and walkability of the area, which is rare in LA. The showers, locker room, and rooftop patio are also fantastic features that make the experience even more enjoyable.

If you plan to use it regularly: 3-5 days a week the value is well worth the price!

“I am very proud of you!!! Keep going David. This is only the beginning." - Nancy Molina - NASM CPT, Tier 3 + Personal Trainer - Equinox

In ten weeks, I've lost 20 lbs. My trainer, Nancy, has me on a strength workouts. I'm in the gym six days a week. I try my best, but just showing up at the club makes all the difference.

It's a beautiful gym, all of the staff are amazingly friendly and welcoming. The amenities are excellent. I've rented a permanent locker, which so I don't need to haul my gear all the time.

It all costs me about $10 a day. The price of a latte, which I don't have. I'd rather investment in myself.

So when I moved to West LA, I joined a circuit gym. It was great, but was limited to only sessions. No free gym access. Shower, but no towels. $200 a month. I did learn a lot about strength and conditioning, but I wanted more.

The club is a 5 minute walk from my home. 3 minute by bicycle. The Equniox was offering an "alumni" deal. I contacted my club GM in San Francisco and Darianna Parra the Membership Advisor in Culver City, hooked me up!

I'm back at the Nox, baby!

Kept in great condition and the staff is really friendly. The place is just too small, frequently have to wait for machines, locker room is claustrophobic and aerobics rooms are always booked for classes. And almost every time I’m there a patron with the worst worst body odor I’ve ever smelled is also there (it’s the same guy every time). If it was $100/month I’d say great gym but not for $230

So glad to be done with the year long commitment. The gym is deceiving my small, not kept clean, and very very busy. The screens on equipment are often streaky, ellipticals click save two, bathrooms are wet and gross on the main floor, and the steam room is always being hosed down in the middle of the day.

There seems to be no cap on members and the constant barrage of emails urging me to recruit friends and family to equinox prove they’re just trying to reach their sales goal.

Similar to my feel on Equinox West Hollywood

(+) Crowd younger
(+) BEST class is Rene's Monday night cycling course here @ 6pm (not a well-kept secret since his class books up within the first minute it opens); He is actually probably the best Equinox cycling instructor ever~

(-) Pretty crowded, not as much as West Hollywood though but the weight area is smaller
(-) only the wet steam sauna here

I go here for some classes that fit my times for the week, but otherwise generally go to other Equinox studios

Solid location. There are always towels and maintenance are definitely working hard. It can get super packed for popular classes and peak times (what gym doesn’t?? We live in LA) but I’ve never had trouble doing what I wanted and showering afterwards (the locker room honestly isn’t that crowded even during peak at like 5-7PM). People are really nice at the gym and easygoing. A lot of classes available that you generally don’t have to book a spot for with the exception of certain classes and instructors that are really popular. Those will book out the second the booking is available so definitely keep your app handy if you’re trying to go to one of those.

I take private Pilates here with Bella Barsimantov and she is AMAZING!!! I cannot praise her enough for being literally the best person ever. I highly recommend her if you’re looking for 1 on 1 Pilates :)

I would never take a class from the instructor Stephanie Carter. I suggest that everybody stay away from her classes. The way she treated me was horrendous. She disrespected and screamed at me like a child. She has no business ever teaching group fitness. I do not pay membership to be screamed and disrespected. Cons-
Times: Not enough studio/class times

Space: Small facility in comparison to other locations. No pool and congested weight area

Cleanliness: Not as clean as other locations. Often towels pile up and garbage as well

Communal spaces: There are people full on

FaceTiming at the machines and there was someone in a towel just sitting outside the changing rooms taking up the entire couch

Pros- great staff and instructors

I am a returning member to Equinox. I used to go to Westwood every day in 2019 and now I go to all the gyms.

Equinox is seriously amazing. I had planet fitness for a year and never worked out but would go to shower sense I work remote. I NEVER WORKED OUTA FOR A WHOLE YEAR ! But at Equinox the first day I get it at I take a work out class every day, and I’m so embaressed I went to one location to work out then hopped to the next!😂
Equinox seriously is this whole experience that drives you to want to work out, eat healthy. Be productive . The only negative- you may want to spend your whole life there. (Seriously😂)They have yoga, pilates, cycle beats and all these other amazing classes just running all day at all the locations. Where can you get that at ANY other place? 1 pilates studio costs that much.
Also, you can go there if you just need the steam room and a nice shower with Khiels products. Forgot your razor? Hair spray? Hair straightener? They have it all there!
Hollywood has a Jacuzzi and pool and that’s not even a sports or destination location.
Forgot to eat? No problem. Just grab the earth bar smoothie that’s prices way more reasonably than Kreation or Erwhons.
Need to sit by the fire on a rooftop? Equinox has it! I LOVE Equinox and businesses that put thought: effort. (The sports massages are Amazing at Equinox as well). The sports club is for members that need more space and equipment and a work space.
I think they are adding We-work areas which is also amazing!
Some locations have the BEST cleaners like Sherman oaks. Some of them are medicore on the floors.
(You’re also getting help for your mental health coming here if you work a lot. )

**not a paid review I’m just sick of businesses that scam in LA but Equinox does not!

Frankly, I would not go back to any other gym after this. I have gotten exactly what I wanted out of my Equinox membership at this location. It's right near my office, and the client base at this location generally skews professional; in other words, people come in, do their workout, and leave. Everyone I've interacted with, staff and other members alike, has been extremely kind and approachable. The gym is spacious and well laid out. Machines are clean and weights are always in the proper place -- a small but admirable touch. The classes are legitimate, which is more than I can say for any other gym I've gone to: there are REAL yoga classes, challenging pilates classes, and a whole spectrum of other fitness styles I have yet to explore. The app that you use to manage your membership is intuitive and easy to use. The locker rooms are well-stocked and clean. Altogether, it's a very pleasurable place to spend time and train; yes, it's more than most gyms you can join in LA, but my feeling is that it's well worth it to have access to a place you'll actually want to go.

Id stay away from this specific club. The assistant manager Daria Leroy and the team is not worth dealing with if you have issues with a membership. I reached out to try to pause my membership for 30 days and she said she could waive it for free with a doctors note. I explained to her that my situation was an ER situation where I had rotating doctors and nurses and that they barely had time at all for me who had a collapsed lung let alone write a doctors note to waive a $30 fee for a gym membership pause. I offered to show Daria pictures and timestamps of a picture with me with a tube shoved in my chest and offered to send her my hospital visit but she ignored my request until I called again. All she did was point to the agreement I signed about a doctors note during the initial gym membership agreement (its pretty vague tbh). Given that they give out free 30 day promotions and such all the time and they cant even waive a $30 fee for a month while I recover from a collapsed lung and surgery is a complete joke. That being said she was also happy to cancel my membership than to waive my fee too so it seems like that the arrogance of the team is more important than even a continued membership. For $275 a month the service is an absolute joke and that includes the management team. Not to mention this club is understaffed and they shorten their already short times (closing an hour earlier) during the day at a random notice.

In this covid new world, I feel the gym is doing its best job at keeping people safe and equipment sterilized. Best time to go is early early morning or just after lunch - not too many people on treadmills or gym floor. Remember to download the app and pre-book the times that you want to work out. The most I've seen in a group fitness class has been seven people.

Shame that a clean gym in LA runs about $200/month...

Anyways... For this price I'd expect that the toilet paper not be cheap gas-station style. I think you can up the same here Equinox. Our bums deserve good treatment too.

Facility is fine... Setup is a little awkward with all cardio equipment facing workout area, so people are always watching.

Only other gripe I have is the sheer number of trainers that are always on the floor wandering around.. if you don't have clients, go somewhere else

Source: Google

Agreed... Overrated for $200/month. Facility is clean, that I can agree with. Nothing special about the space, machinery, decor, whatever.

Shower pressure is tied to the toilet waterline, so you get reminded Everytime someone does their business with a drop in water pressure... It's a nice touch.

Would like this place a lot more if their price matched the benefits, but overall these clubs have been aggressively raising prices with no additional member benefits.

I've been a member at quite a few gyms and crossfit workout classes and the experience here is unparallel. Most of you might find it quite boujee as people mind their own business and seem to ignore others around them. Bottom line: small gym, no luxury, not worth the money. Pay a little extra and go to Sports Club for the real luxury gym experience.

Additionally, the managers here clearly do not respect members of the greater equinox community. When I attempted to try this gym to give it a second shot, as it's closer to my house, the manager Brielle told me she could not let me in because she needed to "protect the experience of her gym members." As if I was a pariah. I've never been treated in such a way in any other equinox gym I've visited. She lost any chance of my ever switching, I'll stick with Sports Club, and so should you.

Positives: Everyone who works there is really helpful and great, things are always very clean, it isn’t too crowded at most times which is nice. The showers are great except there is a weird plumbing issue where the water will spurt off and back on when a toilet flushes, but otherwise are great.
Negatives: the plumbing issue mentioned above in the women’s locker room. They should get better toilet paper as another commenter mentioned haha. And the hours are very limited. 7-7 on Saturday and Sunday is a bit weird.

The club is beautiful and well appointed. All the instructors of classs I’ve taken have been (mostly ) great- especially cycling and yoga. My one complaint is the cafe- I would love if they just had regular coffee/dairy offerings. The workers there told me the cafe is dairy free for the environment but I just read they don’t recycle🤔. Just put out some half and half already......

Amazing gym! Brand new facility that's extremely spacious and clean. Even right after 5pm on weeknights it seems to be pretty empty. I signed up with Morgan who's super friendly and will always greet you with a smile if she spots you on your way in.

My only issue with this Equinox is the front desk. I came in with a guest pass for my girlfriend and the first thing they said was "I hate these". They told me they needed Morgan to sign off on passes and made us wait ~30 minutes. I can understand the staff here can be busy signing up other members but the fact they basically ignored us and made zero effort to get Morgan's attention really left a poor impression.

Pros: clean, empty, friendly membership staff
Cons: front desk (don't ever ask them to do anything other than checking you in)

Equinox needs to install self-check-in kiosks next year.

Gym is great. Only four stars because the “Earth Bar” should recycle. Hundreds of plastic bottles every day, no recycling. Name is ironic, in a not-so-funny way.

This place is awful. I did not make it past my first day of membership. I joined at the recommendation of my friend who met me there to work out. On the way out the door, their general manager confronted my friend and accused her of being a personal trainer. Then they threatened to revoke her membership. When I stepped in to defend my friend and make it clear that she is not a trainer, they were smug, dismissive, and condescending and refused to apologize to my friend. They told her that the Equinox trainers had complained she had trained two other people (never happened). In fact, she and I did our workout together—trainers don’t work in with their clients, duh. I cancelled my membership on the spot. Total amateur hour. The laughable part is that my friend actually pays for a personal trainer at Equinox. The 24-hour fitness super sport in Hollywood has better equipment. Maybe you won’t get the fancy shampoo in the bathroom shower, but you won’t get the poor attitude by gym mgmt or poorly trained employees.

Absolutely awesome club. Front desk was super helpful with directing me to classes around the facility. State of the art equipment, cardio machines have Netflix, locker rooms are incredible and everything has that new car smell. Could not recommend more!

Nothing short of Amazing! Great space. 2 stories. 5 star showers all the equipment you need to meet your fitness goals and classes 2nd to none. Trainers walked around handing you a towel if needed. the greeting staff greeted me with a warm smile and by name. 2 hours free parking with 15 min grace period. And that parking structure is simple to go in and out of. This is will be one of my go to’s.
I do question the validity of previous comments.
