This gym deserves a much better rating than it has currently. I was a bit skeptical after reading the reviews but gave it a shot and had a wonderful workout. 1) it is massive. There is a smaller section downstairs then a massive training floor up the steps with everything you need and more. 2) it’s super clear 3) it was not that busy at all and I went on a Saturday morning 4) all of the staff at the front desk were helpful and friendly.
I have an all access membership and have visited many locations across LA, NYC and Miami and can safely say this is one of the better ones.

Website says it opens at 5am yet it didn’t open till 8am. Website says you can buy a day pass - turns out you can’t and it’s members only. They have only three spinning bikes on the floor and all three have broken electronics so you can’t determine/track speed/kal/progress. Luckily you can use the bikes in the spinning room since there was no class. Overall the gym was clean, members are nice, staff is helpful and courteous and the lockers/showers/sauna were all tip top. Lots of weight lifting equipment and I didn’t have to wait for anything. I grabbed a smoothie at their earthbar and it was tasty - sat outside on their patio and chilled. So overall I was lucky to get in as a guy I met let me use one of his guest passes (thanks Ryan - you da man!) but the lack of accurate info on their website is a disconnect and frustrating.

Small gym, too expensive for what it is, won’t let you cancel and will take the money out of your account even if you’ve told them not to.

Cesar is the best, he is super kind and always willing to help when it comes to memberships or any related inquiries. The gym is really clean and the staff are very friendly as they always acknowledge you. Nice patio and location is very close to good food spots. Highly recommend asking for Cesar with any questions about joining, and great facilities overall.

I was in Downtown yesterday, so I decided to stop by for my exercises routine. The view and location is over 5 stars, parking is little complicated, ladies room very dirty as well the sauna and the showers has mold! I asked for the manager arounf 6:00 pm and he already left, I mentioned to the 2 guys at the front desk the issues and they were very kind. So bad that really nice gym and location is so dirty.

I went there for the first time since it came highly recommended by a coworker seeing it would be closer to go after work, but honestly not an all that gym, yes a few amenities not offered by some gyms, still for the membership price and the all high and mighty egotistical staff with a very nasty attitude towards potential members you'd think they be more accommodating and respectful....definitely taking my business somewhere else

Honestly would give zero stars, very unaccommdating when already an equinox member without letting you try for a day; can't even use guest passes on yourself when membership is $250+

I just left the DTLA Equinox, and I was genuinely surprised by the lack of customer service. The front desk staff was unfriendly, and when I asked to speak with a manager regarding a few simple membership questions (which the front desk said they couldn't answer), I was told the manager was too busy in a meeting. However, I could hear the manager speaking to the front desk on the phone at that very moment. If the meeting was about increasing membership, I have a simple suggestion—treat potential members with basic respect. Based on this experience, I won’t be joining.

The parking at this location is so hard to find. I accidentally went into the gate right next to it and was charged $4 instantly.
Equinox should at least put a sign on the entrance to let people know about this!

This equinox DTLA is relatively smaller than other locations but the interior design is modern, clean & gorgeous. The cleaning staff is amazing at keeping the club & bathroom clean and dry. I hate wet dirty floors lol the men’s bathroom is clean & dry so I am thankful.
Many good classes & instructors! I had good experiences taking the classes, because the instructors are professional and friendly.
Overall, I enjoy this location!

I wouldn’t rely on the common courtesy of some of the front desk or sales staff. They are unhelpful, rude, and non-accommodating. Highly disappointed in how Spencer treated my guest after 3 years of coming to the DTLA club.
I had always heard stories about rude Equinox staff who go on power trips or whose egos are in over drive, but had never encountered them before myself until today. I think some humility or courtesy workshops could be helpful in fostering better customer service at this location. Never experienced this at the signature club or the Newport location. They treat their customers with the professionalism and respect of the highest order.

Parking is super hard to find so budget extra time your first visit. Route your GPS to 444 Flower St. Parking, garage is the smaller right gate (out of the two gates on your left) that says 444. Gym is on 3rd floor, you can park on level C. PHEW…OK now that that's out of way.
Love love this location. Very lowkey crowd, never packed, and cleaning crew works so hard to keep it up, plus beautiful city views throughout. Feels less intimidating than some of the other locations. Definitely smaller, so if you're looking for every piece of equipment under the sun or a pool, try the Hollywood club.

Closes too early. By 7:15 steam room is already closed when some of us are walking in after work. Please consider late closure as many of us live in DTLA and are based out of here. Random holiday closures at 2pm unannounced prior - we are paying and it’s closed most of the time.

Pros: descent amenities
Cons:
Closed on Sundays.
Extremely rude and condescending staff; was working on there on a Saturday and the gym was completely empty. I was working out and having a quite phone conversation while having AirPods on. I was interrupted by one off the staff members and told to talk on the phone in the hallway. Mind you the gym is absolutely empty and there is out of place equipment laying around. This doesn’t happen at other locations.
Verdict:
If you are looking for a gym downtown go to Jon Reed. Half the cost, newer equipment and better hours.

Disclaimer: I am 23 years old and have never been motivated to be a Karen and write a bad review, but this last instance with this location annoyed me so bad.
I've been a member for more than 2 years now, and this location is definitely more private, has an amazing cleaning staff, and has really great instructors like Rocco Stowe, Chrissy Gonzalez, and Jose Alverado. Without these three things, I would've been long gone.
BUT. Management and the front desk show absolutely no appreciation for their members. Here are some reasons:
1. You're only allowed 2 guest passes per YEAR after paying $265 A MONTH. I understand wanting to be branded as exclusive, but it's not that serious. Can I have at least 5? I've even had some friends get memberships, and even then, I'm only allowed 2 passes a YEAR.
2. There's only been 1 instance in the 2 years of my membership that I needed to pause my membership for a month, and they charged a $50 fee to my account just to pause it. I emailed management to ask if they could consider waiving that fee, and they said only if I show a letter from a DOCTOR showing that either a family member or I am in the hospital. Like??? Is it that deep? Is Equinox going to go bankrupt if you waive that fee, Franklin?
Lastly, my 13th reason.
My phone was at 3% today, and I go to the gym enough to establish some kind of rapport with the front desk. So in my head, I thought that they wouldn't have a problem if I asked to leave my phone there to charge. As I approached the desk, I saw several unused chargers perfect to fit and revive my dying phone.
I asked, "Hey, can I leave my phone to charge here."
He gave a sassy glance to the "used" charger and said, "sorry, we don't have one available."
You don't have ONE available? What do ya'll use to click away on your personal phones all day? Not even one in the breakroom? Surely, the iPads could survive for 30 minutes without a charger. But no, my phone and patronage are not worthy of any charger at that establishment. Thank you front desk man for protecting valuable corporate assets.
ANYWAYS. I'm positive you'd feel more appreciated as a member at Planet Fitness or even your local YMCA.

I’ve been training with Eliza at this location for 6 months. The tangible results are that I look way better and am physically stronger: -15lb, -10% body fat, +2lb in muscle mass.
The more intangible results are far more powerful though: I am mentally stronger and more confident. I derive joy rather than fear from my workout schedule, and finally experienced that “endorphin high” I heard so much about! I am stoked to wear crop tops every day and can whoop my friends to the top of any hike.
I’m a different person than I was 6mo ago because of the direction, consistency, and encouragement from Eliza.

I love this Equinox location so much! The interior design is gorgeous and it’s nice and secluded. The morning classes are never packed so it’s nice to have a lot of space to workout in peace. The trainers here are also super friendly and are always willing to help you with personalized suggestions.
Overall, of all the Equinox locations that I’ve tried, I like this one the best. The only complaint I have is that the parking structure is a little crazy.. it’s so hard to find the entrance and when you’re in the structure, it feels like a maze.

Not a great gym. Old and outdated equipment. Spinning bikes are atleast 10+ years old. I recommend john reed a few blocks down. Brand new gym. Awesome amenities and Ferraris of gym equipment imported from Germany. Its only 100$ a month contract free and cancel at any time.
Equinox needs to lower their prices or upgrade their equipment or both.

UPDATE: I got charged three more months even after I was told my membership was cancelled. I received confirmation by Courtney Brin that it will be taken care. The following two months I still got charged. Now I have to dispute the charge one more time. This is so unprofessional. Is this a scam ? Why do I keep getting charge month after month after I"ve cancelled my membership in JULY OF 2020.
I cancelled my membership back in July 2020. I continue to get billed. This is the 2nd time that I have to call Equinox to refund me. Its exhausting! Get it together Equinox billing team!

I have been a daily visitor for years, and have enjoyed the yoga classes daily for three years. The instructors are generally exceptional in that they inspire the exercise - stretching, strengthening and often very tough, depending on the class - but still make yoga seem simple and fun, rather than easy. (Try it, because with time you'll recognize so much progress!) The facility is in a unique location with library views, a private rooftop patio with fire pits, a lemon tree lined rooftop patio just above, a gym bar, and an indoor lounge with cafes and shops just below. There is nothing like it in terms of the breadth and availability of other classes too. It will be one of the most Immaculate gyms you will find, even though I wish they wouldn't vacuum so much. Think green and take the metro or bike if you can because both are also very convenient, just like the validated parking. I rarely review, but because it's closed with coronavirus I have the time, and noticed comments that don't paint as full of a picture.

Visited this gym between 5pm and 6pm weekday peak hours. Parking is hard to find. Small gym, very crowded. Neighboring shower stall's water spills into your shower stall. Came here for a leg day. Both squat racks taken for the entire time along with all leg machines. Only was able to do a few sets on one of the leg machines in my entire session. Equipment on the floor shaken by nearby in use treadmills. Don't think I'll be returning to this location.

Nice, clean gym. New equipment. Parking is a royal pain, however. Lots of construction at DTLA location, so finding the parking lot and access to it will prove difficult for newbies. Once metro/rail construction is over, i expect the gym to be even pricier....but overall, it's worth it.

So I called to ask for general information about the cycling class and asked for the price and the guy treated me as if I wasn't supposed to know their prices. His response was, " You need to become a member or come with a member to assist to the class." Come on, who doesn't know that about a gym. He kept on working his way around to a direct question. Just a phone call already made it a bad experience.

Horrible customer service. I'm a former member of equinox and I entered this gym just to find out if a credit that was awarded to me was still on my account. Instead I find out that my account had been charged for 3 months after I cancelled my membership. In their system my account was cancelled due to non-payment. I showed the Manager email correspondence between myself and the sales person I dealt with and he continued to treat me as if I owed his company something. He never addressed the fact that the cancellation was not carried out on their behalf. He went as far to even tell me he could not correct the issue on my account but he could look into it if I wanted to become a member again.
No apology for the mishap on their part but 'hey I can do what we were supposed to do if you become a member again.' At this point after your company tried to steal money from me and you're treating me like I stole something why do I want to be a member again?
On top of that, when I first walk in and ask to speak with the manager the front desk person says yes but another standing next to her say no. All of this while I clearly see a manager standing at the front desk. These seem to be very simple issues to handle but apparently equinox doesn't see it that way.

Great spin instructors as well as instructors for the other classes I've tried, strong steam room (heaven), new-ish equipment, the locker room is nice (the usual solid great products from kiehl's...though they seem to be less well stocked with every visit). Major drawback: weekend hours... they close at 6pm... for the increase in DTLA residents - and to carry the standard of a world-class gym - stay open until at least 9pm as on Fridays!

It's overpriced for me -while the equipment is fairly new and they offer a variety of classes- you run into the same type of problems as any other gym. This is the smallest of probably all of the Southern California Equinox's so there are times where the cardio machines are all crowded. You still get to embrace the Equinox lifestyle with towel service, clean bathroom facilities, and a pleasant staff. It's just overpriced for my taste.

I'm a member and think this is the worst location in LA for a few simple reasons. It's a shame because it's the newest. Here are the simple reasons:
1) Weekend Hours suck- for what you pay you'd expect a lot more
2) No reinforced wall (for throwing a medicine ball against)
3) Small which means less equipment overall. You'll find yourself adapting your workout because they don't have something or someone is on that 1 or few machines.
