Pretty terrible to watch the Equinox staff eject a man for trying to defend himself in part by filming another man who assaulted him.

Staff standing by while a member is attacked and subsequently telling the victim he is no longer welcome while simultaneously allowing the aggressor to remain on site is reprehensible.

People need to be safe while they are at Equinox and condoning the assault and battery that was also a hate crime and rewarding the aggressor with allowing him to stay is not only putting other people at risk, its unacceptable.

I had a fantastic experience at Equinox. I was so impressed by latest technology and how knowledgeable the staff was. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and everyone I interacted with was incredibly friendly. A special shout-out to Greg for showing around. We had a wonderful tour with James at Equinox Encino today! He was friendly, informative, and made us feel right at home. As parents of two young kids, we especially loved seeing the Kids Club, which was clean and looked fun. Highly recommend touring with James if you're a family considering joining!

I am a new Equinox member, trying different locations and today I had a class "Studio Dance: Jazz Groove" in Encino. Parking is not a big deal but at night is little scary because you have to walk , take stairs to the parking garage that's in an open area. The class room floor was very dirty. Didn't enjoy as much the class because it was all about choreography other than cardio or exercise. The positive of this location: it wasn't too crowded, but I think this place needs some upgrades, looks old, didn't make me feel to stay longer that I used to enjoy the other locations. For me..so far, Woodland Hills is my favorite..still need to check Beverly Hills and Westlake.

I love the Pilates studio. My disappointment lies with the replacement of the Kiehl’s products by some cheaper products. Obviously done to cut costs, but bad move. They really need to enforce the policy regarding cell phone use. There are constantly young girls snapping ridiculous pics of themselves, but this should not be allowed in the locker room. And a large number of guests directly in front of signs that say “cell phone free zones”, yet people having loud conversations on the cardio equipment. Enforce the policy. Fix the drinking fountains. Many don’t work properly!

It's more of a socializing place than a gym. The working out space is small and uninspiring. It is clean and the steam bath is nice though. What left a bad taste was having to jump through hoops to cancel the membership and get the refund where it was due. Based on other reviews that's a common issue. I hope you get dinged by CC processing providers to finally take it seriously

The new Grown Alchemist bath products are complete garbage and have downgraded this gym completely. Such a shady change to pull this on their customers out of nowhere and with zero feedback. They smell like chemicals and wall paper paste.

Cold towels are about the same coldness as running your towel under the tap water.

Hot water hasn’t worked at several of the men’s sinks for months.

Also the lack of attention to detail in the locker rooms is annoying. They keep replacing light bulbs with ones that are the wrong color temperature. Steam room has been mismatched for a while. Now one of the men’s showers has this putrid bright white light that stands out like a sore thumb against the others. This isn’t high end club stuff - this is something I would expect at a 24 hour fitness. I recommend spending your money elsewhere, because a high end club this is no longer.

A gym is more than just the weights. Its about the atmosphere, the energy, the way gym goers respect the others and how the staff treat the members. Well, I can't remark enough about how awesome all those variables are met at this location. I've been greeted walking in and out EVERY time with sincere smiles from staff I'm slowly getting to know by first name. Remember Norm from Cheers? Well, you will feel like family, as my wife and I did from the moment we walked in and walked out as members. Martin, Nareg, Deter, Kris, Waylen, Cesar, Travis, Charlotte, Alexis and Tamika are just some of the staff that make you feel like you've come home. Thank you Equinox.

Nice gym, I canceled my account and was put on a freeze instead. Then i was shadow billed for months (no email no notifications) and had to deal with charges backs, I was however emailed all the time asking me to sign back up.

Very friendly staff and clean facility. Lots of options for cardio and plenty of space to use dumbbells. Loving it so far! They have the best classes and instructors too!
Update: I moved and am now at a different equinox and can say that equinox Encino is the overall best! Wish I was closer to this location

If I could give a zero star for this location, I would do so because of the ongoing crime that has been happening there, and Equinox is keeping it a secret from the members and guests. My car was vandalized on June 15th, 2024, around 5 p.m. My designer bag, wallet, cash, sunglasses, watch, used my credit cards and bank card for thousands of dollars and business iPhone were stolen. The thief caused significant physical damage to my car as well. When the police arrived 3 hours later, I was told that vandalism had been happening often in the parking garage and that this was the 3rd call in 3 weeks they'd received for similar incidents at this location.

Later, I discovered that Equinox didn’t even have cameras where I parked, and most of their garages don't. Seriously? I am paying a premium price for a luxury gym, and they choose not to have the added financial expense to enhance security measures that would protect their members. What a shame! This was and still is beyond upsetting because Equinox failed me and all the other members by not giving a warning about the ongoing incidents. This crime could have been prevented or avoided if Equinox had been transparent to their members and if there had been security patrolling the garage.

I have been an equinox member for almost 10 years and been going to this location for over 5 years and have never seen a security guard in the garage patrolling. This is most definitely an unsafe environment, that could have resulted in me being severly injured or killed had I returned to my car while the thief was breaking into it. I filed an incident report with Equinox and left it with the police report number, but the management never contacted me, and I had to go back there in person to demand answers. I also went to the security office and spoke with the manager on multiple occasions. Sadly, Equinox did not even tell them about my incident, and they confused me with the person whose car got vandalized a few days before mine. Baffled!

This incident has been an inconvenience with having to cancel accounts and credit cards, set up new ones, and get a new DL, freeze my credit, cancel an international trip.In addition to the thousands of dollars in losses from property theft, vandalism, and credit card fraud, this has caused me so much emotional distress and fear of being in my own home. The thief used my ID to find my home and attempted to enter my property, and they were caught on my surveillance camera. The thief used all my credit cards, which caused them to be frozen, and stole $3,670 in cash. I could not operate my business for days because they took my business phone. I had to close my personal and business accounts because I had a checkbook in my bag. This has been a nightmare!

Equinox and the parking garage need to be held accountable for what happened to me and my car because they did not and are still not taking any action to ensure the safety of their members. I will not rest nor give up on this case until Equinox shows what actions they are taking to protect the people they so-called "members." All members should and must be on high alert about the ongoing crime, and security guards need to be vigiliant, visible, and patrolling the garage at all times. I am not able to attach the picture of my damaged car here.

I came here a few times. Thoughtful the gym is usually empty when I go or not filled like other Equinox gyms the spin class that I went to was amazing and the trainer was really attentive and able to help when I was having difficulty getting on the bike, I highly recommend coming to this Equinox . It’s a hidden gem.

Yikes. Not only is this place old and dingy, they were particularly slimy to work with when it came to cancelling my membership. I felt like they were trying to scam me. I thought equinox was supposed to provide better customer service than planet fitness or any other low budget gym.

I enrolled in a free month membership during a promotion. Towards the end of my free month, prior to the date I would be charged for the following month, I reached out to the same person who set me up for the membership. I didn’t hear back. The next day, I called, and they stated I agreed to a year-long membership, which I did not. When I explained I only joined for a free month, they recommended I speak to Kris which is who I already tried to contact. When he finally got back to me, 3 days later, I had been charged, and he points me to the direction of yet another person to speak to. That said person again did not get back to me after 4 days. By this time the $200+ fee had already been applied to my account. I provided the necessary medical note that was demanded of me (despite having reached out at the correct time to not incur this fee), and didn’t get a response until over a week later. It was such a gross feeling like a used car salesman basically. I would never step foot in this place again.

TLDR: when trying to cancel my membership, nobody got back to me in time so I was charged. Nobody will answer you. The staff will tell you you actually signed a contract for a year-long membership when you didn’t. And nobody will point you in the right direction of who to speak to, so they drag on the process until you can’t get your money back.

The gym and equipment look like you’re at a 24 hour fitness. Nothing elite about it

My husband and I have been members here for the past four months. My husband used to work out alone at home, and I did CrossFit for two years. Due to a few changes in our schedule, we were in the market for a new gym membership.
After we took the tour, we decided to sign up here.

The gym is spotless, towels are always available, the shower and locker room area is kept clean, and a cleaning crew is always on site. The machines are all in good condition, and there are plenty of treadmills, but only one of each type of weight machine. This sometimes means you must wait for someone to finish, incredibly when busy.

The staff is always friendly, and somebody is always around if you want to ask a question. They always greet you with a smile.
I enjoyed their classes and the variety they offer. My favorite instructor was Elle Young. Her cardio class is super fun, and she will make you sweat and work hard!

Parking is validated for two hours.

Overall, this is a perfect gym, although a little pricey. We had to cancel our membership as we moved to a new area.

A decent gym but no frills. It’s generally clean but often times equipment is out of service or in need of repair. My biggest complaint is the price at over $200/month and the annual increases that never fail to be implemented. They have an essential monopoly on the higher tier gym segment so their ability to hike prices is virtually unlimited. Personal training is very good but also pricey at appx $150/hour. My suggestion would be to waive or heavily discount monthly fee when a certain number of monthly training sessions are used. Would be a win/win situation

They shortened the hours “due to covid,” but West Hollywood’s location is operating under a normal schedule. Masks are no longer mandated in virtually every country, yet they still raise that as the reason when I asked the manager why they haven’t reverted the hours back. He told me that they haven’t shortened West Hollywood’s hours bc it’s their busiest location. Most ridiculous, backward reasoning I’ve ever heard. They shortened the hours to mitigate the risk of transmission, but the busiest location they have in SoCal, the one with the highest risk of transmission, remains open. Typical pathetic Los Angeles bs. If they shorten the hours of operation, they should shave a proportionate sum off their monthly fees. Wouldn’t that be the most equitable course of action? Nope, not at this $300 per month gym.

The raised the prices to $190 which seems fair (not really)because there is NO ONE there EVER and their membershiphas been reduced by 2/3. I can't see how they are making a profit right now...probably from people like me that sign up go once a week maybe and suck.up the cost haha. The club has installed lots of new systems to deal with the corona virus, and I really feel they have done just about everything they can to keep the staff and guests safe. I was particularly impressed with a request I had. My favorite machine was marked as unusable due to social distancing. I requested they move it to another location in the gym so I could still use it. It got moved the very next day, so I greatly thank them for that.

Don’t ever give these people your credit card and ask for a refund! Ever! I signed up on 6/22/20 and cancelled the next day. Still waiting for my CC refund. I’ve heard every excuse in the book from it’s the banks fault, our CEO needs to approve all the refunds to Covid - 19 has somehow infected their Merchant Account. Unbelievable! All of the personal trainers are so kind and helpful my favorite was a Roba Kaddoura!!! She really took the time to help me understand every move as she was training me!
I would highly recommend Equinox Encino. It is truly one of the best gym experiences I have ever had. I recently became a member and it was the best decision I had ever made. I recently joined the classes called "The Cut" and other class was a Kick boxing class! I really enjoyed both classes and the instructors stood by your side and taught me every step of the process! This gym is so clean and the steam room is by far one of the best experiences! Leaves you feeling so fresh and clean by the time you leave the gym.
I had give this gym 5 stars! Highly recommend!

This is one of my favorite Equinox Gyms!! Everything is always clean and tidy and the staff is very welcoming. The trainers are great and readily available for anyone who has questions. It's never overcrowded here, regardless of what time it is. You can always find weights and Cardio machines to use. The Eucalyptus steam room is amazing!! They provide complimentary towel service, razors, shaving cream, lotion, moisturizer, mouthwash, and everything in between. There is always a staff member in the locker room ensuring that everything looks and feels premium. I highly recommend this location for anyone who's looking for a new gym.

This is a pricey gym that I never though I would join. After joining various other places like 24 hour fitness and LA fitness, I realized why this place charges so much. Everything is always clean, all weights are in their place and all the equipment is top notch. But for that much money I would also expect hanging boxing bags and maybe a pool.
There is gym called 360 that I used to play in a basketball league, for $50 dollars a month it makes this place seem like a rehab clinic. The 360 place had a boxing room with bags, a basketball court, racquetball ball court, a pool and an enormous room for cross fitters.

If this place gets a little bigger and ads a few more things it will be by far the best place to go to between Studio City and Tarzana.
