I just left this hole and went across the street to 24 hr fitness where arc light theatre is and I just got a BOGO buy one year get one free for a little over $300.

I don’t care how much money you have… But to be spending every month what I just spent for 2 years is wild. I won’t have a gym payment for 2 years. That’s insane.

Anyways parking is endless and they have steam and sauna there. So yeah. You’re welcome.

Equinox I hate to break it to you.
Your days are coming to an End.
Work smarter. NOT harder.
BUT if you are, at least choose your hard.

I don’t typically leave negative reviews unless I feel like I was thoroughly misled, lied to, or in any way highly let down. With Equinox in Hollywood- this is an example of that.

When I signed up to rejoin Equinox I decided to go with the Hollywood location as it was closest to where I live. I signed up for a membership through Jaymes Duke Ballard.

I was told that I would receive a $250 gift card if I were to sign up. When signing up, I noticed that he didn’t include this in our contract, and I brought it up to him, and he said not to worry that he always takes care of his people and that he would add it to my account.

I unfortunately was lied to, and just trusted this man, and once I signed up- I noticed there was no gift card added to my account. I reached out to him and asked about it, and he completely ignored me. I feel completely con’d and I would never join Equinox Hollywood again just because of this experience. There’s nothing worse than someone who’s trying to profit off of a membership and who lies to clients.

I recently canceled my membership. Just highly disappointed in the lack of character. Lying to people to get them to join a gym is just disgusting.

I live above this gym, and I have no idea what's going on every other morning from 5:30AM to 6:30AM but a loud thumping/vibration comes from the gym at this time and it wakes me right up.

The earliest classes don't even start until 6:30AM so I don't think its because of a class. Is it the staff just blasting music to prep the gym? Or is the thumping because of something else going on in the gym? Guys.. be mindful that people live above lol!

Firstly, the staff here are great. Friendly and helpful. But get the sense they’re as frustrated as customers, yes we’re customers not members, with the dilapidated state of the gym.

It’s a high traffic heavily used gym, but not designed as such. It unfortunately lacks equipment and what they do have is either worn out or in woefully short supply. In fact, some basic floor exercise equipment they have in other Equinox gyms they don’t have or are broken and not replaced.

This gym needs serious investment to get it up to the standard of being a premium brand that Equinox claims to be. (And to justify the membership cost.)

At the moment it operates like an overpriced municipal run gym.

Member since 2019, and I’m so disappointed that the gym has become so overcrowded. There’s never a good time to use the equipment — it’s always packed and busy. They’ve clearly sold too many memberships and overcrowded the floor with machines. It no longer feels like a premium membership experience.

Nice clean gym. After visiting a different lower priced brand of gym this week on a trial, I can really see the difference in level of care. Equinox is maintained immaculately and the other gym was run down. I still think the price is a bit excessive here (they want $270 per month) so I gave it 4 stars but the gym is very nice and big and modern and clean. Either lower the price slightly or add a few more amenities to justify the near $300 price tag. That's a car payment.

Based on the reviews, I was expecting to be really disappointed, especially coming from a similarly priced gym (Pharos). But I’ve been delightfully surprised and really pleased with my experience at Equinox Hollywood across the facilities to staff.

The staff are welcoming, there’s tons of great equipment and I’ve rarely found it super crowded, and the bathrooms/showers are extremely clean. The stream room is just perfect.

Equinox post pandemic closes too early, is closed on the weekends too early and the hours are so limited on the holiday, why bother. I wish I lived in LA so I could ditch this brand for the many new luxury clubs opening there. Until NorCal catches up, ill just leave the bad reviews in hopes the brand realizes they are creating pent up demand for alternatives

Equinox is what every other gym SHOULD be. Decently clean, good amenities, etc. However, is it really worth paying 10x the rate of a standard gym membership? Personally, I don't think it is. Paying double, triple the regular gym rate could make sense somewhere in the $80-100 range, but $300 is a little high, especially when you factor in most of the locations don't have a pool. If you want to work out in a nicer gym and want to splurge, it's a good option. Maybe my own expectations were too high after hearing about it over the years.

Absolutely love this gym! It’s spotless every time I come in — super clean, well-organized, and clearly well-maintained. The equipment is top-notch, and the entire facility feels fresh and modern. The location is incredibly convenient, making it easy to fit a workout into a busy day. But the best part? The staff! Always friendly, welcoming, and willing to help with a smile. It really feels like a place that cares about its members. Highly recommend!

PS the fitness classes really push you and the instructors are very knowledgeable and motivating!

On Wednesday July 30th, The cleaning staff name Rolena (Blonde, Latina, Heavy lashes), was very rude to me. I was about to take a shower at 9.55 PM. I acted watching the watch and told me ‘JUST TWO MINUTES!!!!’ But the shower will be close at 10.15PM. Whatever she misunderstood about the time changing or me using the stream room(that close at 10PM, I did not even walk into the stream room.) So unprofessional!!!

I tried a complimentary session with Demi at Equinox in Hollywood, and from the start, it was clear that she is incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about helping clients reach their goals. She takes the time to understand individual needs, explains exercises in detail, and ensures proper form to prevent injuries. Her energy is contagious, and she knows exactly how to challenge you while keeping each session engaging and effective. Even in just one session, I felt the impact of her guidance, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dedicated, skilled, and motivating trainer. Equinox is lucky to have her!

PISS ON THE SEATS?!

Not here at the Hollywood & vine equinox!
It's been awhile since joining this location, & usually the first thing that grosses me out is the mens locker room! Mens bathrooms can be a Filthy place, especially at budget gyms. Equinox provides towel service as well as kiehls body products. This facility is clean, immaculate, & efficient. Mind your other, well paying members! We’re all here to workout & have a good experience.
The trainers are helpful, respectful, and really have a can-do attitude. They feature a variety of group exercises, yoga, & even ballet.
The GM Brandon runs a tight ship!
I should've joined years ago!

I tried to join equinox not just for my personal use but also explored whether to bring my corporate company team to equinox but the system is chaotic and as a result utterly unreliable in terms of making any training or spa appointments or even trying to pay for these sessions - I can’t bring my business account here as the service is poor and on 2 attempts to book simple private training and physio sessions all appointments got lost or dropped from their system so I turn up both times and both times there is nothing on the system recorded - there is double bookings and the system on both occasions dropped my account off their system - I have wasted so much of my time -equinox is definately not worth wasting time with - looks glossy and fantastic but the critical service required to support that is lacking to a shocking degree. My experience was frustrating and wasted money and time and my advise is Do not join this gym.

In LA there are plenty of better gyms with higher basic level of service support.

Hello, I had a contract for one year, there was an automatic payment, the contract ended 2 months ago, a letter came about the end of the contract, I have been going to another gym for 2 months now, and yesterday I discovered that they are still writing off my monthly payment in the amount of 287 dollars, I write letters to the general manager, the concierge, there is no answer from either of them for 5 days, I call the concierge, they say that the contract goes into leasing after a year, and your membership is still active!!! Why does no one talk about this at the time of signing? Why does not any confirmation of this come? Do I want to renew the contract or not??? I did not expect this from a company like you ... this is more like a scheme to profit from other people's money!!!! No recalculation and does not want to return my money, although there was no activity during this period! I am obliged to know about all this myself, I am obliged to call you myself, so that it turns out to be canceled my membership! Scam! Because of people like you, I never want to set up automatic payments, so as not to fall for such tricks to give away money!

I've been a member at equinox for years, prior to the pandemic and I rejoined a year after the pandemic. I once thought that when you joined a local gym that they would care about you and your well being. After an incident outside the gym with another member of the gym which resulted in damage to my property and verbal assault, I voiced my concern that the other member was a threat to my safety and shared that I had to go to the police and file a report. They gave me the run around and said only if an incident in the club can result in any action to help with my safety can be done on their part. I will be leaving equinox with a very bad taste in my mouth. If you want a gym that cares about you and your safety or just well being, join another gym.

A couple of points before considering this gym: (1) Staff are oversaturated and always mindlessly walking around the gym. In addition, they only seem to give targeted assistance when walking around to those who they see to match their body types and level of endurance at this gym. (2) There seems to be a lot of traffic in terms of the maintenance team as it pertains to the men’s showers. Every time I go to take a shower, there is a man with a black shirt either mindlessly mopping, excessively refilling soap, or lingering around. (3) The bathrooms itself are disgusting by the time I go to the gym at night. Which is boggling considering there is an influx of staff walking around the bathrooms 25/8. Leave us alone!!! it’s creepy and overbearing

Sorry but I have to agree with the other user. The gym is just too full and all the machines are often occupied. This could easily be solved by leaving the gym open 24/7 because then people could come outside of the rush hour. The gym itself is clean and offers a lot of training rooms. Nice.

I changed gyms from across the street to here and I wish I never signed up to equinox. It's way more overcrowd and when I signed up I was promised it's not that busy. Ive reached out to the equinox team and they are just saying it's normal but I should not have to wait so long for machines and then fight with trainers that hog up the machines. Its becomes so busy that I end up leaving the gym because theres no room.

Today marks the sixth day this month that I have had to leave the gym several seconds after walking in because there are no machines available whatsoever.

I understand that there are rush hours for every gym however, it has gotten simply out of hand at the Equinox gyms in Los Angeles especially the one in Hollywood. Multiple trainers are taking on clients during rush hour and holding multiple machines at the time per client. This practice doesn’t make any sense and it shouldn’t be allowed. Today I was making my way towards the only open machine and I was cut off by a trainer who was literally running to get there before I could. I have also gone up to seemingly empty machines only to have a trainer tell me it was one of several bring reserved for their client’s workout. The trainer proceeded to leave said machine unoccupied for 20 minutes — longer than I would have needed it.

I joined equinox for the promised amenities — one of which was limited capacity. This clearly is a promise that they have failed to uphold. They care more about commissions for new contracts than the fact that this gym is overrun.

Not only are you wasting my money; you’re wasting my time.

Incredibly rude management with very deceptive business practices, one could even use the word 'fraudulent'.

I was worried about the stability of my job when I re-joined the gym several months ago, and the Membership Advisor promised me that if I lost my job and had to move, all I needed to do was submit an email to management in order to cancel. THIS IS A LIE. I've spent pushing $5k at this gym over the past 6 months (between membership, spa, personal training, and Earth Bar) - and they still are trying to fight me for more money, it is absolutely insane.

The personal trainers are average at best. 6 weeks, over $2k spent - hardly any results. My EquiFit assessments said that I actually REGRESSED. It's like the trainer didn't actually take any notes on my medical history or injuries, every week I had to remind her of them. The workouts she put me through were Equinox's generic app programming - SAVE YOURSELF $140/SESSION AND JUST DO THE WORKOUTS YOURSELF. I also developed severe shoulder pain, which has stopped since I discontinued working out with her. The trainer was constantly trying to sell me on more training, didn't alert me of cancelation fees, and continues to text me asking when I'm coming back in to work out with her (kind of rude when you know someone has lost a job and money is tight).

Their app is crap - they don't even upload your EquiFit data into it. I've had 2 EquiFit assessments - none of the data is accessible.

Everything else in the other reviews is true - it is almost impossible to find a spot in the parking lot after work, crap towels, shower and sauna smell moldy, spa service is truly hit or miss (BTW - if you have an appointment scheduled at the spa with a particular individual, they will not notify you if they are switching the person on you. They act like they're doing you a favor for not charging you a cancellation fee if you don't want a strange masseuse touching your naked body).

The only great thing about this place is Buddy Macuha - the guy who leads sound baths on Wednesday night. He is truly magical, but not worth the $270/month membership.

Bottom line - go somewhere else - this place isn't worth the money.

In regard to equipment and overall quality, I was fairly happy with the gym outside of limited business hours and so many members that the equipment was never available (especially if you work a 9-5 and go in before 8a or after 5p). DO NOT trust or sign up with Jan, he is highly unprofessional and will ghost you the moment your credit card hits auto bill. He dodged my emails for 2 weeks when I tried to cancel, I had to eventually call in and find someone else who would allow me to cancel without the obvious gimmicks. If you have the budget for a luxury gym don’t waste your money here.

I regret ever falling into the Equinox trap, I recently moved to LA and wanted to find "my Gym". With Equinox being the closest, I decided to give it a chance, the whole process was a bit sketchy in my opinion as it happened through text but I felt like I was in need to get into a Gym and signed up with a free month trial. Once Equinox received my money they went MIA. Complete Silence. It has been impossible to get anyone to call me back to answer me with membership concerns I have voiced. Additionally, I got charged on my credit card when I was told the gift card I had would be applied and "I had nothing to worry about". Please do not even consider joining this gym. Free weight machine section is the size of a shoe box, always so packed, and you will never get anyone to reply to you. Save your money and energy and go somewhere else.

Hostile, rude, discriminatory behavior from several representatives. I was gaslighted from manager and they were so unkind to me. They mentioned a lot of rude comments when I tried to ask for a contact to ask further questions and submit a complaint. Instead they wanted me to speak to someone then are there and I just wanted to email a complaint. Instead they belittled me to make me feel like my concern was ridiculous, not valid and stupid by 3 people and in front in the lobby. That I not what I was expecting and they were not listening to me and put words in my mouth and they used intimidation, humiliation, and gaslighting to threaten me. I will be reporting this to the better business bureau immediately and following up for discriminatory and hostile practices.

They also kept asking my name and at the end there was no remorse and the manager used forceful language to remove me from the building. I didn’t comment anything to escalate I just said kept saying I don’t want to speak to someone in person, I don’t want to go into a room to speak in private. I was feeling uncomfortable and i wanted to cry. I just wanted to email a complaint. Incident: August 17, 2024 around 2pm.

I chose Equinox on Vine for its reputation, but after checking out other options, I’m starting to reconsider. John Reed, for example, is a newer gym with state-of-the-art equipment and more flexible membership terms. No contract, just month-to-month, which is perfect for someone with a hectic schedule like mine. Even Gold’s Gym, though not as fancy, offers better value for money with comparable equipment. The hours at Equinox are also pretty limited, closing early on weekends, which isn’t ideal. John Reed is open till midnight... For the price, I expected more from Equinox.

I've been hitting up Equinox on Vine for the past six months, and while the community and vibe are top-notch, the gym itself feels like it's stuck in a time warp. The equipment is passable but far from cutting-edge, which is disappointing for a place with such a high reputation. The biggest gripe, though, is the hours. They shut down way too early, especially on weekends, which cramps my workout style. I see potential, but they need to modernize and extend their hours.

★ 2

Considering how high dues are, membership should be capped at lower than the current number. No one should be waiting for equipment during peak hours at this price. Parking has become a nightmare because the parking attendants will periodically remove the entrance or exit gates due to damage and people running errands in the area have realized that they can park for free. The clientele can be stuck up and entitled, especially when it comes to personal space in the locker room. You’re not going to get an excuse me from anyone as they push by you to get to their locker. But hey, it’s Equinox in LA. That’s kind of to be expected. I’ve also repeatedly, over the course of months, asked the front desk staff to secure a piece of the decline bench that is loose and works its way off as I try to do crunches. No dice.

Decline bench aside, all the other equipment is well maintained and there’s almost anything you could possibly want, including a lap pool, hot tub, and sauna. The physical space feels luxurious. Being able to book any of the in club classes on demand through the app at no additional charge is good value. I mostly take spin classes and it’s as if I have a spin studio membership baked into my gym membership.

UPDATE: I entered the gym through the front door on Vine yesterday. This door is normally locked from the exterior, but was open then. Give that others have complained about not being able to enter the gym through its front doors rather than a side entrance through the neighboring apartment building, I thought Equinox had decided to open access through the front door. I guess I was wrong. A security guard stopped me about halfway to the front desk, after I had already logged in through my app, and told me I needed to exit the gym, walk down the street to the apartment complex next door, enter through their main lobby, walk past their elevator lobby, and re enter the equinox lobby which would have put me about 10 feet from where I was currently standing with the security guard. He then laid his hands on me after I said I wasn’t going to do that because I was already practically at the check in desk and then he stood inches away from me in a threatening manner. I requested that he find a manager which he ultimately did after arguing with me for several minutes and the manager agreed with me that I could continue to the front desk rather than exit and re enter the gym in what would have been a totally needless exercise in absurdity.

My biggest gripe about this place is the parking.
-- Parking here is HORRIBLE 75% of the time I come here, especially if coming at peak hours; this is the true for any gym, but this place was especially bad a few times (have to circle the 3rd floor multiple times to get a spot)

(+) size of gym quite large and spacious
(+) younger crowd
(+) large locker room
(+) has a 2 lane pool; I never use this personally, but good to have options
(+) location is good because you can grab some chipotle or walk to trader joe's right after - convenience

(-) yoga room sort of in an awkward location facing street where you see the legs of those walking on street
(-) can get pretty crowded on the weight floor/cardio machines after work
(-) parking, parking, parking

I like the amenities and the classes offered. I do not like the cardio equipment. The arc trainers are this weird elliptical hybrid that just does not provide the same satisfaction as the hands free arc trainers at PF and other ‘less fancy’ gyms. I can also do without the general snobbery of the members and the staff, especially when I left this evening. I simply do not feel like I fit in here and I’m from NYC via The Hamptons. That being said, if you like a lot of amenities and post-modern decor coupled with a general feeling of being judgment then this gym is totally your vibe.

Deceptive sales practices lead me to give one star. When I took a tour and talked with the salesperson, I asked multiple times what the contract length was. I was told it was month to month, cancel anytime, but no partial refund for unused time left after cancellation. I signed up on the spot, silly me for not taking the agreement with me and reading it over thoroughly.

Now that I’m trying to cancel, I’m getting ghosted by the people on location that I emailed (manager and original salesperson). I emailed the Concierge (aka support team), lo and behold I’m apparently in a one year contract and they said I can’t cancel before then!

The way this played out was that they take you on the tour, tell you whatever they want, and then bring you back into the office. They'll then say that you can only sign up through your own phone/laptop/device so that they'll have to send you a link with the agreement. Then, they'll pressure you through the process quickly, and finish the signup. Later, they'll say you signed up 'via a remote link,' implying that you didn't sign up on-site right away, but rather took that link to the agreement home, reviewed it in full, and signed up.

Bad on me for not being thorough, but very bad on them for being deceptive and evasive.

I was a member of this club for 6 years and was reluctant to quit because it’s so convenient for me, but things just got so bad that I couldn’t justify it anymore.
As of late, the front desk staff has been wildly unprofessional, rude, etc. Since Covid, this location has lost most of its best instructors. It’s a shell of its former self, and it already wasn’t the best equinox (small, not a lot of “extras”).
When I quit, corporate told me they take it very seriously when a member who’s been with them so long quits and that she was “sure” the location would reach out for my feedback. Nope. As I suspected, this location cannot be bothered to care about members.

*note: nobody even reached out after I left this review. Maybe because I over graciously gave 3 stars (look, I had some instructors I really liked). But knocking it down to 2. Amazing they can drop my opinion of them even lower after I quit!
They have reached out to my husband to ask him 1 million times to join (called him by the wrong name though lol) because he got a guest pass. So mismanaged.
I’ll be over at *the other club with the German name*

Today I was physically threatened by the front desk staff after asking to speak to someone about the parking situation. I was told twice that I had better "get out of here" by an aggressive staff member who twice attempted to lunge at me across the counter. When I asked the other staff member who was there to help me speak to the manager, I was told there was no one else there. Fortunately another staff member was later able to connect me with the manager.
Unfortunately you only have to scroll through the recent reviews to see that there has been a steady decline in the state of this location. The parking situation is always a hassle, the equipment is outdated/often broken down, and in general the gym is overcrowded and messy/dirty. Not what you expect for the membership dues Equinox charges.
The manager of course told me that he would "address" the situation, but I have no doubt that if I went back (I won't) the same staff member would still be at the front desk doling out his horrible attitude.
It's definitely time to check out some of the new players on the gym scene, Equinox is definitely past its heyday. Too bad they don't realize they're not the only game in town anymore.

Front desk Ty has the worst attitude I've seen across all equinox clubs, zero professionalism. Lack the basic skills of customer service. Not helpful but DAMAGING the brand of equinox, refused to tell his name till being asked twice, contacting management to see if this kind of attitude is acceptable for equinox.
Update:
Manager Brandon didn’t treat my concerns seriously as he SHOULD at first, was pretty helpful in the following process and promised to have a conversation with Ty to make sure such experience won’t happen to me or anyone again, will see how it actually goes.

Gym is okay, most staff are pretty good, but this experience is pretty much SUBPAR even for the most mediocre gym.

No gym etiquette from guests (unlikely any of these members have ever played on a sports team), vanity workouts and gear galore. Opt for other locations if you’re serious about a workout- if looking to see and be seen, Hollywood is your spot.

I've been a member of Equinox since 2008. Hollywood is becoming way overcrowded and disgusting. Bathroom smells terrible but most annoying is the terrible parking lot. Equinox only cares about growing sales and profit. They raise prices every single year but offer nothing in return for the increases. In fact, things just get worse. Good news is there are some better options opening up like Heimet... Step it up Equinox. We've been together for a long time but I'm starting to get over it.

I joined the gym a little over a year ago, in search for a boutique private feeling space.

The good things to mentions:
Personal trainers are very knowledgeable!
Shower is pretty nice for gym.
The swimming pool is isolated from the rest of the area.
The few classes that I took most teachers are very attentive and knowledgeable.

Now the bad things:

A gym needs to make money, but my entire circle have all stated that we would rather pay more and have less people! The gym is overpopulated for its price. In some classes you have to really squeeze in.

The reception is not very helpful in any other matter than pointing directions, and at times even rude and judgmental.
This place is nothing if not progressive at taking people’s money - this isn’t smth I said, this is smth someone at the gym told me. And oh boy it’s true.
When you sign the contract they do not tell you about the cancellation policy, which they must mention!

The general administration is unprofessional, doesn’t follow up. They overcharged me TWICE and have been torturing me over the summer with an internal mistake, didn’t tell me first it was a mistake, didn’t do what they promised, said they would fix it, didn’t, etc. basically a mess up on a mess up.

For this amount of money this gym isn’t worth it. It’s pretty, nothing else. That was enough to hook me in, but not enough!

EDIT: After multiple conversations and our mutual agreement to cancel, they still charged me. Then, they promised a refund, which i never received, and then they charged me again.

For the past two weeks I have communicated with management about the discriminatory behavior that occurs at the pool. They have brushed it off and are unwilling to provide in writing what the procedure is for addressing this behavior. It is very alarming that they are so comfortable with discrimination against people of color and those with disabilities. Specifically, Equinox Hollywood has had a pool since 2016, but the only signage informing users that lane need to be split (up to 3 to a lane, which is in violation of the posted 6 person capacity without a lifeguard signage), is by the spa. Swimmers will ignore people trying to share a lane, unless you get in and physically run into them. Management's response is that each pool user must get verbal confirmation from the person not sharing that they won't share and then wait in the locker room until a staff member arrives so it can be addressed. What happens is that people of color and people with disabilities kindly wait in the spa, for what I have seen to be close to 20 minutes, after giving up when swimmers actively attempt not to notice them. Every day I'm at the gym I have to have a tense conversation with a lane user or risk injury because (1) they do not have a policy about how long members can use the pool when people are waiting, e.g., 30 minutes like at other locations and (2) they refuse to send out a notification to Hollywood member users clarifying that they MUST share the pool. When asking how to inform other people with disabilities and of color impacted, their response is "If we have other members that have the same concerns we will address it with them as they bring it to our attention." What this means is that people of color and disabilities are disparately impact by Equinox's lack of redress regarding discriminatory behavior that has been brought to their attention repeatedly, possibly by those other than myself. This is both illegal and unethical.

Been a member since this location opened in 2017. Considering cancelling my membership as they just raised our monthly fee $17/month after raising it $11/month and $10/month the prior years. Not sure why. The facility, as others have said, is just not worth $300+/month. The teachers and classes are great but for this fee.. it's gone downhill. First: the parking garage elevator has been out most days since early July of this year. For most of that time, members had to walk down the parking ramp as there was no open stairwell. Dangerous! They recently opened another elevator, but you have to share with the tenants of the Camden Building who seem pissed to have sweaty people in their private elevator (fair). Then, there are multiple building fire drills that interrupt classes with flashing lights and alarms, cutting off music. This happens ALL the time. Not just once a year. Like two times a month. Then, the parking is difficult - they just stopped asking members (or anybody) to validate, so now anybody and their brother can park in Hollywood for free for as long as they want - there's no guard. Instructors regularly have tech issues with the microphones. Frequently, the AC is out or the pool is broken. I would say that in the last year, there has not been 1 week where there hasn't been something wrong with the building/facility or the gym. Gold's Gym around the corner is $59/month right now, and I'm not really seeing much of a difference between Equinox and Gold's.

I joined the gym looking for the what should be a boutique or higher quality gym experience. It is none of these things. First off the front desk staff is disinterested. It seems to be the idea of bait and switch. Offer a boutique environment then invite as many people in as you can like herds of cattle. Its just a money grab, not a lifestyle. I hired a trainer (2 days a week). What I got was solicited to add a 3rd day a week quite frequently because the Manager of Training would push the upsell to the trainers, who in turn were required to push the upsell to the members. I am sorry but if I just paid you in full for 12 weeks up front, leave me alone and let me work with my trainer. It is tacky and comes off desperate for a high end club to solicit you in week 2 of training for an upgrade. Oh then in week 3, week 4, . . .
In addition, if you think you won't run into the influencers and social media mavens who like to use their phone to video their workout and use you as background material out of sheer disregard for your space and privacy.. think again. My message to Equinox is, If you want a high end club atmosphere then create one. All I found is that this place is like LA in general. All about the facade with no real follow through or substance. If you think I stayed for the entire mandatory year, I have a private gym I attend now and am paying Equinox not to show up until my year is finished. That is how little I think of the place. Save your money.

I probably won’t renew. nice workers and good crowd but too many machines that waste space that should be used for more free weight / free exercise use. For example, there’s only a single power rack with olympic barbell plates, which means there’s only one station for traditional deadlifts. If you’re coming from a more flexible, crossfit style gym you won’t like it here. Over priced for what you get. At this price point you’d expect squash courts and powerlifting rooms. If it were a true athletic club I would keep paying.

update: not renewing. too crowded. broken equipment takes too long to fix. air conditioning in summer barely works. not worth it.

Why is the front door locked while there is a door man…? He just looks at you. And the lady in the shop just stares. Unlock the main door. It’s like a maze to get in for members searching for the other door. It’s a fire hazard to lock the front entrance of any building.

Unfortunately it’s never been the 5 star gym it should have been. Been an EQ member forever and this gym could be great but they flood it with way too many members. Always waiting to use equipment. The gym itself is better than any other gym in the area (not saying much tho the LA standard is quite low these days) so unfortunately they just have u by the balls but it’s quite unfortunate for what they charge and what they offer in return. Broken elevator, broken water fountains (plural) broken machines, and just stood in the steam room with 50 other people felt like I was in real life iamlegend movie scene with the zombies. Ugh

Really sub-par compared the other equinox locations in LA. I think most of it has to do with understaffing or poor operational management, as it’s a very popular location despite the issues. Equipment feels dirty or is broken, classes are too squished/full, and the showers are either unavailable or dirty because there’s like 1 cleaning staff in the whole locker room. The class instructors I’ve taken also have a really elitist attitude that it’s a Hollywood class (I guess this is equinox lol) instead of an encouraging attitude as I’ve seen at other equinox locations.

I had a terrible experience at the Equinox Hollywood gym. The service was abysmal, and I felt like I was not respected as a client. From the moment I arrived, the staff seemed uninterested in helping me or answering my questions. When I finally managed to get someone's attention, they were rude and dismissive.

What's worse, the equipment was poorly maintained and dirty. It was clear that no one had bothered to clean or sanitize anything in quite some time. I felt like my health and safety were not a priority to the gym's management.

Overall, I would not recommend this gym to anyone. The lack of respect and poor service make it an unpleasant place to work out. There are plenty of other gyms in the area that provide better experiences for their clients.

R.I.P. to Equinox. As someone who has been a member since 2019, I have had the unfortunate experience of watching this gym completely disintegrate.

First and foremost there are WAY too many people being let into a “luxury” gym. Membership needs to be far more limited; paying for ‘exclusivity’ and having to spend 50% of a workout waiting for a machine (of which there are far too few) do not line up.

I can see why so many long term members are being forced to jump ship. It’s a complete shame and something needs to be done. Every time I find myself entering the gym I feel disappointed where I used to feel inspired.

I love this gym! I have experienced many different Equinox locations across the country and this is my favorite. It has my favorite classes (Groove3!) plenty of floor space for stretching and floor work (they actually have 2 separate spots!) and I’ve never had any issues with the equipment. The patrons are positive and in general there’s a great energetic vibe. The staff is super friendly and helpful. And the best part is the locker room! Always spotless, well stocked, and the showers have the best water pressure! The woman who runs the locker room on Sundays (Ayala I believe is her name- she works in the morning and usually leaves by 1:00) is the best. She makes sure everything is perfect and is very kind and helpful. I look forward to each visit and it never disappoints.

Have belonged for a few years but recently started looking elsewhere. I only go for the classes. It’s a really nice, very clean space with good instructors but lately classes are way too crowded and they can’t seem to get their parking situation together. This combined with the fact that the internet doesn’t work at all inside so I can’t do online classes there makes it no longer worth the cost.

One of the better Equinox locations in Los Angeles - my daily spot. If it means anything to you, I live within walking distance of the West Hollywood location, but choose to drive 15 minutes every day to Hollywood.

PROS:
1. Good design - built in 2016, still feels contemporary, akin to NY clubs. I've found most of the LA locations feel like they haven't been renovated since the early 2000s (looking at you, Santa Monica,) but here feels fresh.
2. Good layout - all on one floor. Many clubs end up being split on multiple floors (like Orchard Street).
3. Great patrons - This is subjective, but I feel like everyone who goes there has positive energy. There is a mix between powerlifters, influencer types (said with no negativity), 9 to 5 corporates (that's me!) and first timers. Little judgement, members are friendly and will give you a spot, help you out, etc. This really is a top reason for me going here versus West Hollywood, which feels like a scene.

MIDDLEGROUND:
1. Equipment - Well stocked with cardio machines, including Woodway treads and traditional, great freelifting area. But for the amount of people who use the gym, one more powerrack and bench would alleviate major painpoints and overcrowding on the floor.
2. Maintenance - this is a double-edge sword: daily maintenance, like cleaning equipment, windows, mirrors, even getting up on ladders and dusting the ducts 20' up in the air, is great. The issue arises with longer term capital improvement maintenance: there is water damage on the walls in the pool, shower heads that are not functional, HVAC units are leaking. My guess: corporate has a 10 year capital improvement budget that coincides with lease renewals (most commercial leases have a 10 year min term.) That said, even a modest 150K refresh budget could go a very long way.

CONS:
1. Lockerroom service - I think there may be a staffing issue, because it seems there is always one person short in the mens side, resulting in empty towel shelfs, empty soap, dirty water on the floor, etc.

OVERALL:
I recommend this location highly. I think once some of the capital maintenance issues are addressed and staffing works out in the locker room, they 5 stars!

Start your day the right way by getting those endorphins going! I like to get an early morning cardio session to set the tone. It's so good for your mental and physical health. The Equinox in Hollywood is the perfect location to do that. Shannon is always there to greet guests. She really is top tier at the front desk. Extremely professional and remembers everyone. My favorite day of the week is Wednesday when Shai'La teaches 7am spin. Pro tip: get there early because her class fills up! She is the BOMB! Her music is always great. I have been to many, many, many spin classes at various studios. Shai'La brings it! She pushes you to be the best all while flashing a Colgate smile. I looked at my fitness watch recently and got an award for burning the most calories during a cycling class from her 45 minutes! It goes by so fast because you are actually having fun while getting an epic burn in. The staff is friendly and attendants are always cleaning to ensure the environment is as fresh as can be for a place you come to sweat. I know people are still reluctant to visit gyms with public safety and health being questionable every time you turn on the news, but it is nice to know that Equinox is here to make you feel better about pouring into your health with people that care.

The staff and management are awful. I’ve been a member here for a couple of years now. I’ve used equinox gyms in Chicago, NYC, LA. I normally go in : work out and leave. I rarely complain given the laziness of the staff. I each time I’ve brought an issues to the front desk or any of the staff they’ve said they can’t do anything about it or completely ignored me all together.

This location doesn’t care for their members and refuse to change. I’ve brought this up with management regarding their staff and nothing changes. Most of the time when I’m trying to check in they’re talking amongst themselves while I’m waiting to be checked in.

There was a month they opened briefly last year and charged me for it even though they closed within that month. I was refunded not on my card, but in the form of 2 giftcards, which I was able to combine into one last October when they were about to expire. Why a refunded monthly payment became a giftcard with an expiration date baffles me.

I found something to buy with the $254 giftcard a day or two after the 2nd expiration date, tried to talk to someone on chat to see if they could let me use it still, it's my money anyways. After hearing nothing in response after they "looked into it", I reached out again, and was told that I could only be refunded back to the card...so ok, that's what I wanted originally.

After not receiving the refund I reached out once again, but was told that I spent the giftcard in October, and after I explained that I didn't I was sent an invoice that I did and case closed, even though that was only there because they extended the expiration date.

So, yeah not sure if the sales, membership, and corporate sectors are aware of what they are doing. Wish I could get that month back or the giftcard of my monthly payment back.

Andrea Moreno screamed in my face at the Equinox Hollywood location about putting my mask on - she yelled in my face with another female manager there - they're friends which is fine - but it's a problem because they teamed up on me.

I stood up for myself and asked to speak to a manager and she told me she was the manager. I obviously wear my mask when I am there - but there rule is this - you don't have to have your mask on while you are working out - but when you are walking around or not working out you have to have it on...you can already see how this becomes blurry and muddy.

I have been working out for about 1 year at Equinox and have a lot since they re-opened - and I can tell you basically nobody wears their mask inside.

I am more than happy to put it on but I was walking like 10 steps to the next spot where I was working out - it wasn't what she said it's how she said it.

It was very off putting and when I told her I don't have to have a mask on when I am working out which is true - she told me to leave. I told her I'm not leaving Im allowed to be in there working out w no mask and she said she would get security to throw me out.

I told her go ahead..I finished my workout and when I was finished of course I put my mask back on (Again abiding by their rules - these are their rules not mine) and when I went up to the front she was SOOOO happy to tell me ..."We cancelled your membership" hahah wth!?

This is soooo ridiculous - they said because of "Aggressive behavior" you have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME..

1.) Firstly, SHE WAS THE AGGRESSOR I dare anybody at Corporate to go back and look at the tape on this past Sat at Equinox Hollywood and you will see her yell in my face ...and I simply walked away from her...she chased me down then FINALLLY I stood up for myself.

2.) Whatever happened to putting the customer first? What about Equinox corporate taking some responsibility for her actions --- for the way she spoke to me.

3.) Why is it that she was so emotional and irrational ...shouldn't the workers ESPECIALLY a manager try to DIFFUSE a situation ...not ignite it?

4.) She ran back to the back and did the worst thing she could possibly get away with doing and I never got a say in any of this!

5.) Nobody ever wanted to hear my side of the story - when I left the gym it was decided by the two female managers that my membership which I've had for over 1 year WITH ZERO PROBLEMS now is completely gone and I am cancelled?! Why because they are an emotional mess?

6.) Customers have no rights here...if 2 overly aggressive women decide to flex their power there is literally NOTHING you can do ...what about due process? What about hearing the other side of the story Equinox???!

7.) I have tried to reach out to ppl. above her but nobody wants to do anything...Melvyn the manager at Weho heard my story and agreed it's crazy they did this but he cannot do anything ...he put me on to John Strachan who listened and said he can't do anything and he told me to talk to Jack Gannon -- who hasnt' returned my called I tried to email, call and message him on LinkedIn --- literally nobody is standing up for me...

8.) Somebody should be asking me for MY SIDE OF THE STORY. Andrea Moreno should be punished for the way she yelled at me like I was her child ...she was overly aggressive, emotional and rude because I couldn't hear her the first time because my headphones were on.

9.) What about firing her? What about making her take customer service classes and teaching HER about HOW she should speak to the paying customers - this is insane ---

10.) I have a few months already paid up on Equinox and theres literally nobody I can talk to about getting my money back- - If I cannot work there ...then give me my months that I paid ahead of time back.

I ran out of letters I can write ...give me my money back or re-instate me.

Honestly the equipment and classes are great quality and the place is often clean but most equipment is usually occupied.

The problem I had was that my sales consultant lied to me and wouldn't allow me to put on a freeze last May because I was traveling, citing that I had a corporate discount membership. I later realized I never got any discount to my monthly membership so she just lied to me, as confirmed when I emailed later to inquire about my membership type to the manager. I lost out on being able to put on a freeze for traveling, but because I didn't go a full 30 days away from the gym, the manager wouldn't honor this request retroactively either and said he could give a few guest passes to me. After telling him the guest passes would not replace that lost value of being able to freeze my account, he had no other help to offer and I guess that was that. So in summary, my account rep lied to me, costing me a couple weeks of membership, and the manager didn't fix it.

Do NOT buy anything at the Equinox Shop! They refuse returns. Even for unopened items within a 24 hour period. The sign is not visible to people with normal eye sight. It is on a small black sign in small white font. They do not mention this while shopping either. This is unethical and potentially illegal.

I purchased a $100 Hyperice Mini Ball. I never opened it and changed my mind within 24 hours. I was furious to find that I cannot return it. I am not interested in an exchange. I do not want to give them anymore money.
