Terrible experience. Last year, Cynthia Tata Pham convinced me to sign up for an Equinox membership and told me to list her as her referral friend so she could collect two commissions. I trusted her and agreed. She also told me that I could cancel anytime and the payments would stop automatically.
None of that was true. Instead, Equinox ended up placing a collection mark on my credit because the membership never canceled. She misled me just to get her commissions.
Extremely dishonest and unprofessional. I would never trust or recommend her to anyone.

I hope the average star rating drops under four and this gym closes down. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. I tried my best to be respectful and courteous to everyone there. Another member was threatening me and then making up lies about me to cover up what he was doing. The assistant manger believed him and didn’t even get my side of the story. I’m a healthcare professional and have been having a great experience at 24 hr fitness for over three years now.

Simply one of the best gym locations you can ask for. Beautiful ocean view from a wall of windows. Great staff! Shout out to Annie and Josh for embarking on my fitness journey with me! All modern equipment, great music (Not too loud) and just an overall great vibe. Bonus points for the eucalyptus cooled towels. On the pricier side, but worth every penny. This place is easily the best gym I've ever joined. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

**Julie is the most amazing Pilates instructor I’ve ever met!**
I was having a really tough day when I came into Equinox for my complimentary session with Julie. From the moment we started, her energy, encouragement, and expertise completely turned things around for me.
She truly inspired me and reignited my motivation to get back into Pilates. After having my baby, it’s been challenging to feel like myself again—but Equinox, and especially Julie, have been key in helping me feel strong, empowered, and ready to take on life again.
Thank you so much, Julie and Equinox, for such a positive and uplifting experience!

Review for Alina at Equinox Pacific City
Alina is truly an exceptional trainer who brings a science-backed, deeply personalized approach to women’s health and fitness. She doesn’t believe in one-size-fits-all training—instead, she takes the time to understand your unique goals, lifestyle, and stage of life to curate a plan that actually works for you.
Whether you’re looking to prepare your body for pregnancy, manage the changes of menopause, or train for a tournament, Alina knows how to adapt fitness and nutrition strategies to fit your needs. She recognizes that women’s bodies go through major shifts across the lifespan, and she thoughtfully incorporates that into every session.
Her focus on strength training, long-term health, and performance—not just quick results—makes her stand out. Alina creates an empowering environment where you feel understood, challenged, and supported, no matter your age or experience level.
What I love most is how intentional she is. Every workout has a purpose, every recommendation is grounded in care and knowledge, and every session feels like it was made just for you.
Alina is a rare gem, and I feel incredibly lucky to train with her. If you’re serious about your health and want someone who truly understands women’s physiology and wellness, she’s the one.

I had a spa massage with Taryn! She listened to my requests and worked amazingly on the area that were in pain. It was also so relaxing, so right amount of pressure, timing and everything was perfect!
She is a master and definitely knows what she is doing, it has been one of my greatest experience ever and I have done massages in different places around the US and Europe. Great experience and I would come back and recommend her without any second! Thank you Taryn and all positive energy to you!

I had an appointment with Cameron and was interested in signing up. When I scheduled the appointment, the reminder didn’t mention that I needed to bring my ID. Since it was my first time there, I parked far away. I even communicated with Cameron before arriving, and she never mentioned needing an ID.
When I arrived, I spent a long time searching my emails for a picture of my ID but couldn’t find one. So, I had to walk all the way back to my car to get it. The girl who checked me in was extremely rude. When I told her that they hadn’t informed me about the ID requirement, she dismissively said, “Yeah, it’s like that here,” as if it was just a simple protocol. She then asked for my phone number but entered it incorrectly. When I double-checked and pointed it out, she laughed and casually explained that the policy was just to avoid liability if something happened to me at the club.
On top of that, she placed the tablet in front of me in a rude manner. After speaking with Cameron, I decided to leave, and I won’t be signing up. I don’t expect anything, but I really don’t appreciate that kind of rude and stuck-up attitude.

Parking is a nightmare—if there’s an event going on, good luck finding a spot. Expect to spend 30-40 minutes parking, and forget about valet because they don’t offer it during events. That’s not a deal breaker for me since I can avoid event days, but what is a deal breaker is the 3-hour validation limit.
Equinox needs to work this out with Pacific City Shopping Plaza ASAP. By the time you park and change, you’ve already lost 30 minutes. Then add at least another 30 minutes to change and leave, which leaves you with only 2 hours to actually work out. I don’t want to feel rushed, and I shouldn’t have to be.
UPDATE:
adding another star because I've had a couple awosmse interactions with equinox staff 02/05/2025
great view though

def top equinox in north america
best view on pch - sunset pacific water
people are very polite nice minding their own business
not sure why the steam locker and gym in general has really strong fragrance
makes it difficult to do HIIT and cardio
i have to come go the patio to get fresh air every 5 minutes
can the staff let me know when/if the gym can change/get rid of the strong fragrance.
other review said maybe some issues with hvac? pacific city is pretty new development i thought. can u just open the patio door when its not too cold?
will update the review. Thank you

Not super impressed with this equinox Jim. Every time I go to the staff seems pretty cold and so full of rules. You can’t even check the place out. Try it again and similar story.
Wish they would stop being so weird.
Sometimes you get so deep into Sales you forget about the customer because you’re so focused on your rules

I have been a member for over 3 years and recently had an experience that I had to review, the GM Zach was nice to help me and be understanding with my son who didn’t handle the daycare well( he had an accident)
So many experiences like that of amazing people apart of the staff from instructors in all classes (so many to name) to front desk. Highly recommend it’s worth it. Staff, cleanliness, working equipment, and location.🙏

This gym is the bombskiis, the amenities to the view. They go around and clean machines every couple minutes it seems like. Steam room is the best I’ve been in. A little small but they make good use of the room, I’m a boxer and they have stand up bags I can train with. I was a big on not wanting to spend 225 a month but after I experienced it here it is well worth it. High class gym, you get what you pay for 24 hour fitness is a str8 dump compared to this.

The gym itself is great. Im giving two stars because the locker room is terrible. There is no airflow. The bathroom always smells like someone dropped a massive log and the air is always thick and moldy. Its sad because the rest of the gym is so nice and clean and then the bathroom is like a truck stop. Equinox needs to update the ventilation in their bathrooms. It ALWAYS smells like a mixture of mold, pee, and poop. Just put a big standup fan in there if you cant afford HVAC.

The worst customer service at this location I’ve experienced at any of their locations. I’ve worked out at Equinox for 10 years off and on, recently back as a member in one of their better locations. I would recommend finding another gym in HB with better staff as that makes a difference.

Great amenities, friendly staff, amazing view, nice selection of classes. Fridgeful of essential oil infused towelettes.
What's unforgiveable for me is that during the pandemic they sold out hard to the covid cult, and required masks to workout, and then proof of vaccination to enter. Completely unforgiveable for a sanctuary of health to have taken such a rigid anti-health stance.
Would love to go back to this gym, but I'll wait a decade until they fail and get bought out by someone else, so that I don't have to support a business that exists to support my health goals, yet adopted policies that would have destroyed my health if I followed them.

I've been a member here for a year and a half now and it's been the best decision ever!! It's a little smaller than the other equinox's but you are right on the water.. The views are stunning! My favorite part of Equinox HB is the classes and the people!! There's like 85 classes a week available to join. The instructors and other members are now my friends. Highly recommend if you are considering. They also pay you for referring people, I think I just hit 10 referrals! $150-$250 a person! Thank you Equinox HB!

Overall great gym, however the hours are very limited on the weekends. All other Equinox in SoCal are open until at least 7:00pm and they close at 5:00pm. They have been getting more busy over the last few months, strongly recommend to increase their weekend hours. Update: hours have been updated! Which is better on weekends!

Unfortunately this gym is overpriced. I cancelled my membership. If you have money then you won’t care, but for us regular earners, this membership is not worth it. The gym equipment is not placed well. It’s hard to get around. You have to walk through weights and cut through people working out to get from one end to the other. The cardio equipment is placed poorly. None of it faces the ocean. All of it should be put in one section and facing west overlooking the amazing view that is wasted on a stretch floor. I would rather be looking at the ocean while running on a treadmill or any of the other cardio pieces rather then staring at people lifting weights which is how all of the cardio equipment is positioned to watch people work out. No one wants to watch people work out while doing cardio. I made suggestions several times about the layout and management smiles and does nothing. It would be nice if they offered discounted rates for either locals or first responders who are making blue collar wages. I would consider coming back for a better monthly rate. Overall the location is fabulous but needs a lot of improvement in the layout of the equipment on the floor. On a beautiful day which most are, I find it hard to want to be inside a poorly organized gym when you can be outside enjoying the beach and outdoor workouts.

***Vaping in the Locker Room***
Worked out this morning, showered and as I was finishing dressing, an individual came in and while stowing their belongings adjacent to the locker I was utilizing, this individual decided to start vaping next to me in the locker room. When asked to refrain he quipped “I’ll try not to!” So I had to endure second hand vape smoke, during my visit to Equinox in Huntington Beach this morning.

Grossly over-priced considering the amount of equipment and layout. The dues must all go toward the rent. If you're ok paying for nice shampoo and body wash, fine. However, there is hardly enough equipment and variety to justify the price. The cardio areas face inward, not out toward the ocean view. The machines are akin to that of a nice hotel gym, unless you want to use the limited free weights. But if it's crowded good luck getting on the equipment you want. Overall a poor use of space and variety of equipment to use.

Great customer service.
Best Fitness & Spa type Complex in OC.
Although I really like the Equinox Sports Complex in Irvine too! Very different, but exceptional feel as well.
Pacific City Equinox:
Spa-like workout environment
Excellent selection of equipment on the floor. Serious athletes from different sports are able to make it work. Meaning having a selection of key, well maintained machines. A few ergonomic machines which really work well with heavy weight on the knee joints. After learning/adapting to the new ergonomic machines, I now prefer them over Golds Gym type machines for heavy workouts. Best leg, shoulder, back workouts.
Excellent personal trainers with mandatory additional Equinox training. Professional dress code. Respectful of floor space. Usually one floating trainer available for questions & keeping the floor space ‘picture perfect’ for the next member.
Locker rooms feel like a spa.
Locker room & floor restocking & beautifying staff are always present to help out!
Onsite- Food/sports clothes/other:
-The Earthbar shakes
-Clothing selection from; Lulu, Alo, etc
-Spa w massage
Most join for the classes; Pilates, yoga, spin…
The ocean view, location & complimentary parking is incredible.
Located in the Pacific City Shopping Complex… a tourist & local destination.
I felt compelled to write this comprehensive review after reading the 1 star reviews. I personally have noticed the staff to be consistently professional, positive, & very responsive to requests & feedback…even when very busy!
Reception & all staff provide 5 Star service at this Equinox location.
Thank you!

I’ve been to so many equinoxes around SoCal and this is my favorite. This equinox is the cleanest I’ve ever been to, also a big plus it’s new. The views of the ocean is stunning and I love how the mirrors in the group fitness classes reflect the oceans and palm trees. Great planning by the designer. Big shout out to Angelica in womens locker room who does phenomenal job of keeping the locker room clean. Never once has it not been spotless when she works there. Amazing location, friendly staff, super clean, beautiful, functional newer equipment, a ton of classes, clean luxurious locker room and shower amenities. Yes, this is a luxury club, however, everyone chooses how they spend their money, depending on what's important to you. Worth the money to me. I understand the concept of open floor, but it would be nice to have at least some cardio equipment facing the ocean and a dry sauna instead of a steam room, if I had my choice, but these are small things and the gym a phenomenal.

Great gym, great location - my husband and I just moved to Huntington Beach and became new members. Great staff as well, including the sales people and trainers. It's the first time I’ve actually enjoyed working with a trainer (shout out to Jordyn) and this is exactly what I had been looking for. I really appreciate that she actually listens to me and took the time to not only understand my goals, but injuries and limitations.
Yes, it is pricey, but you get a LOT for your money. My husband has been going to gyms for over 15 years and he swears it doesn't get any better than this. The open floor allows you to look out at the ocean no matter where you are in the gym. I’ve really loved the entire experience to this point!

Really only worth the money if you take advantage of the classes. Good dumbell section and very clean but limited bench presses, one true cable cross machine, and only 2/3 squat racks and 1 Smith machine. One of each weight machine but they are top of the line.
Wonderful view, super clean, great staff....but for $120-150/mo it's really only worth it (to me) if you do the classes as stated before.
Fortunately it's usually rather empty so I can still get in and out quickly but it would be horrendous if people actually starting going here.

My biggest complaint would be please face ALL cardio equipment towards the ocean and not inward to watch folks work out. We love the ocean view and it’s wasted on the stretch Matt and free weights area. Everyone on any piece of cardio equipment would much rather face the ocean. I have some suggestions to really make the floor flow better. I’ve reached out to suggest this several Times. Difficult to get through and around some of the areas due to poor layout of equipment. I understand it requires moving all of the overhead TV’s but the last email I received increased our rates yet again and for what? Nothing has improved. If management would like to chat I’m here!

I am very happy with my experience here. I've met many staff members over the course of signing up to the first week of opening. Every member was supposed to be given a tour, a body assessment and 1 free session with a trainer. The spinning class is not hard or complicated as another reviewer stated. It might be complicated if you show up late and were not present for the instructions. Instructors seem to make every effort to see you get the best out of your training experience. They are also great motivators. Yes, this Equinox is more basic than the others but its the best gym in the area and that they wanted Huntington Beach as a site for the gym is a compliment to Huntington Beach. Customer service is great. What I like most about this club - THEY CLEAN IT SEVERAL TIMES A DAY!!!. I'm not afraid to use the equipment or sit on their surfaces. None of the other gyms in the area can hold a candle to that.

This is the worst Equinox of the 6 I have visited. Their management is horrible. I made several recommendations for the gym. All acknowledged as great at the time, but none implemented. It has a gorgeous view of the ocean. Everything is kept so clean. The women's lockers are so chic with Kiehl's products to use. The steam room is scented with eucalyptus. The classes are amazing and fun and they have a great variety from barre to stretching to meditation and I have loved every one so far. Can't wait to try pilates and vinyasa yoga next! Very disappointed! Nothing special for the price you pay.
Client service was amazing until I signed up for the annual membership, after that customer service is none and when they have to do something for you they are inefficient.
I went the first time to take a spin class, the welcoming was poor, no one explained where the different rooms and amenities were. Nothing. You are left all alone in a new space, trying to figure out things...
Unlike the majority of gyms with Spin Classes they do not have spin shoes, not even to rent. The bikes, are quite basic and look cheap. Besides the console is not user friendly. And think that this is a new gym with 'state of the art equipment' (supposedly).
The class was one of the most boring classes I ever been: super complicated to follow the instructions about speed, power, etc..., the music wasn't fun, i really didn't feel the workout either during the class or after.
In summary:
If you want to see and been seen like you would do on a Friday night at the trendy bar, paying way too much for what you are getting, then Equinox is the perfect gym for you. If you want to workout in a motivating, nice and easy going place where you can workout to your own pace and feeling good about yourself no matter your body shape, physical condition or level, than THIS IS NOT your gym.
