The gym is clean and usually quiet but it’s small and the price is outrageous. I joined at 230 a year I believe and at the end of the day they tried to increase the price by $30. “For amenities” (while the water fountain was broken or dispensing lukewarm water) paying this much and not even having access to other gyms is insane. they also had the audacity to keep texting me asking to refer new members throughout my contract.

Staff straight up lied at the front desk. Was visiting for a couple of days in the area and wanted to pay for a couple of day passes. Either I was lied to or simply denied due to what?

Have been training with Michael Gilliam for over six months now and it has been really fun and helpful. I came in wanting to work on posture and strength, and ended up doing Muay Thai and a bit of boxing, as well! Michael is an excellent trainer and has helped me so much - I definitely feel stronger and more confident. I haven't been to any other Equinoxes so I can't say how the location compares, but I can highly recommend the training!

Decently average gym that is basic, not comprehensive. Unfortunately, Equinox is also 10x the cost of 24 Hour fitness and lacks a lap pool. Not sure paying for amenities like Grown Alchemist and having towel service and on site spa options is worth the pricey premium membership, because I shower at home, can bring in my own/better hair products if I had to, and if I needed a massage, I would definitely go elsewhere. The classes are average, I can find better Barre or Pilates options at other locales. EarthBar is nice, but I can also probably do without or use my membership money saved to pay Erewhon for liquid nutrition! Very nice cleaning staff.

This is a fantastic gym- with many classes- great instructors- very clean. Benson gave me a great tour and the sign up was easy. Very pleasant staff and atmosphere.
My favorite class instructor is Devin - he is motivating and encouraging. He goes over important things like body position throughout the workout. He is a gifted instructor- also adds mental encouragement throughout the class. I have lost 9 pounds through spin classes and met con.
The Pilates instructor Cindy is fantastic. The one on one session with her really helped me to properly do these exercises. I have done Pilates group classes with another gym- but the one on one Pilates really is the best. Cindy was so great at correcting my form and she showed precise examples to help guide me.

Been a member for years and while it’s a nice gym they are Not loyal to thier clients! when i joined i was at $140 over the span of 8 years they are now upping the price to $250 a month!! Absolutely outrageous and not worth it ! I also tried talking to the concierge but they were like suck it up or go somewhere else this is non negotiable for us! like really! ? Also you have to pay for parking and it’s in a dead zone strip mall the paseo where pretty much everything is closed and abandoned! As much as i like the cleanliness of the gym the staff act very entitled! Overall this gym access to pasadena gym only is no way worth $240! Complete rip off !

The space is lovely! The classes are great. The machines are top notch. Jack was helping me figure out all of my options. He was super patient and incredibly kind and helpful throughout the process. The type of help that really makes you understand why the equinox experience isn’t one that can be replicated at another gym. I really highly recommend working with him if you’re thinking about joining this gym.

I often visit this location on weekends when the downtown LA Equinox is closed. The Pasadena location is simply closer to my home than other LA Equinox gyms.

While the Pasadena Equinox boasts a spacious interior with high ceilings, the lighting is unfortunately quite poor. The mix of warm and cool tones creates a sickly, sterile white light reminiscent of a laboratory or hospital. This unflattering light makes my skin and physique look worse than they actually are, a stark contrast to the high-contrast gym lighting that typically enhances muscle definition.

The equipment, interior, and exterior all appear old and outdated. This Equinox hardly feels like a luxury fitness club; it looks worn and in dire need of upgrades and maintenance.

Furthermore, I've had frustrating experiences with the parking. I was told that Equinox validation provides two hours of free parking in the lot across the street. Despite parking there twice within the two-hour limit and using my validation, I was charged extra ($7.50 and $4.50, respectively) upon exiting. This was incredibly annoying, as I've never had to pay for parking at other Equinox locations when using validation and leaving on time. I'm unsure what went wrong, but I'm extremely dissatisfied with having to pay for parking when I've adhered to the advertised validation policy.

On a positive note, the staff members seem friendly.

The gym has a friendly atmosphere. The staff are very nice and keep the place safe and clean. My trainer, Michael Gilliam, is the best! If you have a chance to learn Muay Thai with Michael, you will learn more than just technique, but also hand-eye coordination and thinking fast on your feet.

This is the best location of all in the LA area. From the staff to the members, this location is comfortable, and approachable. The maintenance staff is the best, they keep everything so clean and stocked unlike at other locations. The members are friendly and the classes are wonderful. There’s plenty of parking and charging for EV vehicles at the structure across the bridge as well.

Honestly, this review is not just for equinox, which I do enjoy and appreciate greatly- but for my trainer, Xandra Kirkman. I started working out with her when I was just 2 months post partum. She has taught me so much about strength training, and my body composition has improved remarkably and quicker than expected! I already had a baseline of knowledge as a former athlete, and current Internal Medicine/ Obesity specialist- but my sessions with her are invaluable. I call her “the weight lifting queen”. She also puts in work after hours, studies athletes and their conditioning routines for me, or makes slight changes to my form that make a difference. She is worth more than money can buy and I’m so grateful for each of our sessions- 100 and counting! 💕

I started training with Michael Gilliam in Muay Thai and I get a REALLY great work out! 10/10 would recommend. He knows his stuff and isn’t salesy at all.

Working with my personal trainer Xandra has been a game-changer for me. I've lost 20 pounds and 3.5 inches off my waist! But what really stands out is how much fun the journey has been. Xandra has this incredible ability to make each session enjoyable, so much so that time flies by without me even realizing it. The results have come quicker than I ever expected, and I truly feel stronger and more confident every day. Xandra is amazing at what she does!

I love Equinox! I joined earlier this year and I now understand, firsthand, the benefits of what a consistent active lifestyle can do to my physical and mental health. My personal trainer, Xandra has taken me to the next level of what’s possible. She is knowledgeable, empathic and challenges me in every session to elevate my capacity. I am so grateful for this fitness club and Xandra’s grace layered guidance. I’m excited to see the future me progress.

I've been a member of Equinox on-and-off over the years, and the Pasadena location is one of my favorites, mainly because of classes from Jayen Wells and training from Xandra Kirkman. Jayen has a positive attitude and his classes are always high energy and fun. Xandra is extremely knowledgable about fitness, and as a woman, I'm only comfortable training with women so having someone like Xandra is a blessing! Another big positive about Xandra is she doesn't try to sell you junk or waste time when you train. She really cares about YOU as a client and sees you as a person, not a paycheck.

If you ever visit the Pasadena location, check out Jayen or Xandra for sure!

As a long-time Equinox member, I've generally had excellent experiences with their gyms. That said, the Equinox at 300 E Colorado Blvd in Pasadena has not lived up to expectations. While my personal trainer here has been fantastic, providing outstanding service, the facility itself and its management fall short. The gym's equipment often feels outdated, and the overall service level doesn't meet the standard set by other locations. I've also faced significant billing issues, being charged for a canceled service and extra personal training sessions that I did not attend. Attempts to resolve these issues have been frustrating, with the management denying evidence of my claims. It's unfortunate and concerning that a brand as prestigious as Equinox would allow one of its branches to operate below their usual standards. currently engaged in an email battle with the management to prevent fraud and to stop them from taking more of my money

I joined this gym with no intention of working with a personal trainer, and now I’m writing this review to rave about one. Anyone looking for a knowledgeable, patient, yet challenging fitness instructor should sign up with Michael Gilliam. He introduces new and effective ways to target specific muscle groups and uses his Muay Thai expertise to offer clients an exciting kickboxing component. After each session, I feel sore enough to know I got a terrific workout, but not so sore that I can’t function. Overall, Michael’s personable demeanor and well developed sense of kinesthetics makes him an excellent fitness coach.
The cherry on top, this gym is super clean and staffed with the friendliest people. Everyone really just minds their own business and works out. It’s great.

I joined a month ago and by far best gym I’ve belonged to. I really enjoy the personal training and started working with Michael Giliam - he is patient and a very good teacher. I appreciate that he starts where I am and develops goals appropriate for my level and age. He also explains a lot of physiology of muscles which helps me visualize and work on quality of the movement. I’ve also done yoga with Sarah who was fantastic and a complimentary personal pilates session with Katalina, she was fantastic and knowledgeable- each person gives terrific one on one training with a personal approach!

Really great experience and a wonderful gym with amazing staff.

If you’re looking for a great personal trainer, Michael Gilliam is the best. I’ve been working with him for a couple of months now. I was tired of injuring myself in group fitness classes by doing exercises too fast and incorrectly. I asked Michael if he could give me a push-up workshop. I was so impressed with his knowledge of fitness, training, physical therapy and nutrition. I decided to continue with additional sessions focusing on overall body. I feel the best today than I have in years with no pain or injuries. Thank you Michael.

i started training with Michael Gilliam to learn proper form for exercises encountered in group fitness classes. Michael is so knowledgeable in body mechanics. Michael does all this with professionalism, kindness and humor. He is the epitome of what a trainer should be.

Joined a few weeks ago and so far so good in terms of feeling like the self-investment is worth it. Really inviting environment with diverse people of all ages and backgrounds and no weird attitudes or complexes here. Staff are hospitable and friendly and the available class list is robust. The facility is well-kept and you can see staff cleaning consistently throughout the day. Parking is validated for 2 hours as well. The team isn't pushy on membership or training sales either.

This gym was pretty nice, and on par with other Equinox gyms I've visited. The staff was friendly and the gym was not crowded at all. The only cons were that it was a bit hard to find for someone visiting for the first time, and there wasn't a seating area inside for when I needed to do some work while waiting for an uber...though I admittedly did not look hard so maybe I just missed it.

But overall really great experience here!

Could be better. The yoga class I had was not good, seemed like the instructor was more interested in chatting with their regular clients than helping/teaching the other clients. For a high-end gym, you would think they would do better. SMH. I was promised “high-quality” group classes. Highly doubted it after one session.

Gil is a knowledgeable and motivating trainer who has helped me achieve my fitness goals. In the time I have spent with him, I have become confident, stronger and healthier. Not only physically but mentally as well. If you are looking for a trainer in these areas, I highly recommend Gil.

Gil is an excellent Muay Thai trainer at Equinox who is knowledgeable, personable, and able to keep his clients motivated. Gil has motivated and encouraged me to meet higher standards in my workouts. He also has a good overall knowledge of health, which can help you achieve your fitness goals in a safe and effective way.

I have been an Equinox Pasadena member since 2018 and last year I just started Muay Thai / Cardio and Core training with Gil to get me into the best shape for work, and actually have fun with my training. He pushes my fitness beyond what I think I can do showing me that I can basically do anything I want to do, with my fitness, but also yet if I am injured from some other activity that I have going on in my life he adapts the training to suit the specific needs on what we need to accomplish with my fitness, so it doesn't affect my injury. We talk about nutrition, and he helps guide and give me idea's on what could possibly work to benefit my training. I look forward to every session even if tired, and it's sometimes 5am in the morning, which he always helps me out with when I have a crazy work schedule!

The cleaning staff make sure the equipment is sanitized regularly and the free weights are consistently organized.

The training staff are incredibly professional and knowledgeable.

The administration is so well in sync with its subordinates that it’s no wonder how everything works so perfectly.

Great place to take a shower lol*

No, but in all seriousness everything is just a little nicer here. I inquiring about membership here a few months ago, and after having a guest pass when I visited New York, I just had to jump ship on LA Fitness when I came back home. I don’t advise making financial commitments after doing blood work in general, but it has proved to be a good decision without buyer’s remorse.
It’s the combination of a lot of little things like the staff knowing you by name, circular rubber plates to make deadlifts just a little easier. Perfect mask compliance where other gyms care very little about that, a team of 3 sanitizing every inch of the gym like clockwork at least twice an hour.
A gym that I pay less than a dollar a day for, I will attend very infrequently. But when it’s pushing $200/month I’m in there every single day, it’s an incentive. There is most likely room in your budget for a membership like Equinox you just have to check your perspective.

*I originally typed this remark as a cynically facetious commentary on paying a lot of money just for the shower but in all seriousness the Kiehl’s skin care routine in all the bathrooms alone costs what I pay every month in membership dues. So even if you just come here to shower before/after work you will break even financially and look/smell great in the process.

My experience at this particular Equinox has been less than stellar. I found the Membership Advisers to be too pushy (hence the reason I chose to join a different club). The staff aren't as friendly as they are at some other Equinox clubs, which is a let-down for a brand that prides itself on its hospitality. The women's locker room is WAY too cramped - the locker bays are too narrow and the showers barely leave room to turn around with the way the water sprays. The club is clean (something I expect from Equinox) and there is a good variety of equipment, but the experience is what makes a person join Equinox and the experience at this club is average at best.

I'm never UNhappy with any of my experiences at the other Equinox locations, but this one is my favorite. I also go to West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica. The Pasadena location is just the easiest one. The layout makes it feel very spacious, and it's never too crowded, even if I go at 5 or 6 in the evening, I can always get a machine in the cardio area and there is plenty of room to work with the free weights as well. The staff is hospitable but never in your face -- always open for a friendly chat or to be helpful, but also respectful when you're in "the zone."
