I recently visited Equinox to explore the possibility of joining and Mason Maes made the experience incredible-- he gave me a great first impression and really elevated my experience of the place. He is so welcoming, personable, enthusiastic, and informative. His kindness and professionalism was above and beyond. If youβre considering joining Equinox I highly recommend speaking with Mason.

Stock brokers. Broking stocks. All over this joint, dude. I am all like, "Hey, dude. Like, broke your stocks someplace else, man. I'm trying to get my squats in." And they're all, like, "But we gotta stock our brokes. And stuff. Bro." And I'm like, "I'm not your 'bro', bro."

Art lied about the membership fee. He lied about membership fee that would be known within a month!!. And I claimed to him and office. there wasn't explanation or apology at all.
I had a hard time getting a refund from a credit card company for 3 months. And I couldn't get the full amount even.

STAY AWAY! Blonde girl in lobby was busy combing her hair and talking to friends rather than helping out. Wouldnt help out either. Gym is decent but really more for show than working out.

I love this gym! Staff and guest are super friendly. Everything is nice and clean. It's also unique (especially cool if you're into finance) in that the building used to be a stock exchange.
I saw a negative review regarding not being able to visit on weekends. That's not really an issue since you get access to the other gyms (which is probably closer to you if you don't live downtown, and the nearest one isn't far either).
Shoutout to Matt for training me and helping me work through injuries. Definitely recommend!

Not a good gym. It may be clean and they may project a classy atmosphere but it's everything but classy. They will steal from you if they can. There's never enough room for individuals wanting to come. Just use the gym as independent gym goers. They really push the sales of personal training and it's really annoying and some people just want to go in and work out by themselves. You make us feel like jerks to come use the facility when we pay good money for it. Then when we want to cancel it's laughable the amount of effort this company puts into giving you any form of a cancellation. They just keep charging you. Let's not get around, they're not here to help you. They're here to take your money.

By far the best gym vibe in the city. The staff is outstanding and I believe that starts with the leadership. Sydney Thornell, the general manager, is engaged & responsive. You can tell that people genuinely enjoy working there which makes that atmosphere fun. Nic at the front desk always has a smile on his face and goes out his way to make you feel welcomed.
Hector does a phenomenal job of keep the locker room in tip top shape. Itβs clean and the steam room is a huge plus.
I have found the personal training staff to be friendly and helpful. Ava is a new addition there and if I ever was going to use a personal trainer I would definitely work with her.
I am impressed by the volume of cardio equipment a variety of classes they have.
My focus is on lifting and as a newer member I havenβt taken full advantage of the club but Iβm looking forward to it. Thanks Equinox!

Quite possibly one of the most beautiful gyms youβll ever see! Pretty open floor plan though there are some interesting choices in where the equipment is placed.
Would definitely recommend visiting if during off hours as the setup can get cramped during peaks.
Coolest part about the gym is that the locker rooms are in the actual vault

Great gym. Big enough space for the amount of people that come in. The trainers are VERY good here as well. My only complaints are the closed weekend hours during covid, short weekday hours, and high price. The cost for personal training for 60 minutes is over 100 an hour for everyone, but I wish it was a lower cost especially for people who frequent customers. Pool could be a bit bigger too with space for only 3 lanes. Some common equipment is currently missing too like the machine for Captain's chair, smith machine, lying leg extension machine, etc. and they don't respond to new equipment requests so you have to do workarounds. I do like the open floor space on one side though.
To other reviewers about the closed weekend hours: they allow you to go to sports club on market and van mission on the weekends so the weekend hour problem is moot.

I've been a member for a little over a month and I've never regretted something so quickly. The membership is $250 a month - too much money for the issues I've dealt with thus far. First of all, I was double charged 5 days ago and I still haven't gotten my money back. If you have a job with regular hours, good luck finding a machine at rush hour and then after you work out, you have to wait in line for a shower and you are already dealing with an overcrowded locker room. The staff isn't helpful at all, which again, at $250 I'd expect a lot better customer service. There's no way I'm giving them my money for another year with this nonsense.

Iβm so disappointed in Equinox. I was a member for over 7 years. I love the staff, and the yoga and spin classes are great. But the management is awful. My monthly rate went from $170 to $205 per month with no notice and they gave me the run around when I complained. Iβll miss the convenience but decided to switch to CorePower and the JCC for better rates, more classes and stellar management.

It's a nice gym, but not great as far as Equinoxes go. It's fairly small and the intermediate-level weight training equipment is fairly limited (they're missing several items which are generally standard-issue at equinox, like a calf raise machine, setup for tricep dip and leg raises, and a barbell row machine).
The only location Iβve been to without an Olympic weightlifting platform.

I've been a member for over 4 years, I'm terminating my membership this month after multiple frustrating experiences with management. I tried to talk to the manager about cleanliness issues and overall lesser quality on the products like shaving foam and razor blades, not only my feedback was never addressed but when I emailed about other issues like billing or the latest increase of the membership fees, their responses were utterly unprofessional and rude. I have to say it's sad to see they neglect 100% it's members' feedback plus they have a terrible attitude about it. At least the current manager. I used to go to Equinox Sports club (on Market St) and never had any issues with management there. I'll take my monthly $300 elsewhere. The amenities, equipment, instructors, and classes are nice but management is simply terrible.

Not a great Equinox. The positive thing is that it is located in a grand old bank building with high ceilings and old vaults as locker rooms, which is cool. The downside is that it get EXTREMELY crowded.
I also had a bad experience with a staff member β after being told by a woman at the front desk that I was free to use a membership office to do work call (before 9am), an incredibly obnoxious trainer barged and started screaming at me that I couldnβt be in there, which was very disruptive. Maybe this was an isolated occurrence or a symptom of a poorly run place. Regardless it sucked.

Great gym. Terrible management. They arenβt informed about services, and arenβt empowered to answer customer inquiries. Employees are low motivated and donβt seem focused on customer experience or delivering value properly. Team emails incorrect or confusing information about membership, personal training and more.
Small weights and resistance bands are always missing or out of stock with only one set of 5, 8 lbs and rest on rack start at 10 lbs. this is discriminatory against people who need lighter weights and is not accessible without asking front desk.
This is the best worst of all the terrible gyms in SF.

The location is perfect for FIDI and with the offering of a pool, strong yoga classes, I can really supplement my morning routine. Kylie at the front desk is the best! She's saved me so many times, and her smile and cheer in the morning are a great touch of motivation. Positive energy shouldn't be underestimated. Especially when your not fully awake and trying to convince yourself your early morning workout is going to be worth it!

Overated and expensive, same teachers and classes as anywhere else, basic facilities, really can't see any justification for the price, and even once you sign on they're always trying to sell you training for more than you'd pay anywhere else. You'd think basic services would be included at over $3000 a year.

A few things to know about this Equinox:
Has a pool
Fairly spacious locker room
Lockers have locks built in
Poor flow (some areas get very crowded)
Poor airflow during peak times
The architecture is impressive (bathroom entrance is old vault door
This isnβt my home gym, but the $200 price tag seems a bit steep compared to other locations like the High Line and Flatiron in NYC.

For a $200 + per month gym this place is sorely disappointing. I have been to many Equinox locations and the main problem with this one is that they lack a lot of basic equipment (particularly for abs) and it gets way too crowded right before and after work. I understand that it is an old building and there are space limits, but the solution to that is to limit the membership in some way which does not appear to be happening. In fact, I think it is unsafe to have people exercising and using weights within inches of each other. One wrong step and you could find yourself getting crushed or smashed by a barbell. In my opinion, this location is only good for doing cardio.

Beautiful space and up to date equipment. Wide variety of programming. But the Pine Street club gets unmanageable with crowds in the mornings. For the price paid here I'd like to feel as if nothing could ever go wrong. I do get that feeling at the Market Street location - the much larger size just makes all the difference.

I was hesitating about my rating... This is a good-very good gym if we compare it to some of the 24h fitness or gold's in the city. It is the gym I frequent but I still think it is not the best in SF. I am missing some basic machines and a better location of exercising areas. Good for the Keihl's products and the fresh towels. The spa is not bad either...

If you're looking for the premium of gyms, look no further. Here it is!
Service - Excellent services available on site: classes, quality trainers, massage therapists, facials. The staff are very friendly, think, Nordstorms but at a gym.
Amenities - Have free Kiehl's skin products in the locker room, towel service
Location - Great location if you work in the financial district. It's in a building that use to house the old stock exchange. You'll see the Roman architecture as you walk the steps into the building.
Cost - If you want premium, be ready to pay a premium. Initiation $300; Monthly Dues $180
Recommendation - Yes, I would recommend this but make sure to consult with your bank account first. She always has the last word, or the joke is on you.

One of the best gym in the Fi-Di district. Recently redesigned the work out floors and dressing rooms.
The floor layout is good with plenty of top of the line equipment.
The dressing room now include the self locking lockers which eliminates the need to carry extra weight in the form of your personal locker. That idea is appreciated even thought at first claimed some confusion.
The number of shower stalls has increased significantly and has practically eliminated the weight which used to be a common place at the peak hours.
The lockers are well maintained but it never hurts to launch a guy with the vacuum to suck all body hair from the floor on a continues bases.
The swimming pool is very nice. I did not noticed any major changes after the remodel.
The store upstairs is well stocked and has absolutely everything you might need during or after workout. I used it multiple times and always was able to find good quality products like earbuds,
t-shirst, workout gloves and lotions at a reasonable cost.
The "Fuel" cafe is awesome. Gives your the perfect balanced meals before and after workout. The simple wholesome food is great.
I used the services of the the club's spa several times. The price for massages is at the top of the price tag but the quality of the massage and service itself is superlative. You get what you paid for.
Overall it's a fantastic club which offers a variety of classes, personal training, and great feel of an open space.
Love it.

Salt-water lap pool, eucalyptus scented tools, and yoga classes led by the well known and loved Buddy Macuha? SIGN ME UP!
This isn't a typical gym. Equinox is an experience. The facility was a bank once upon a time and it has been repurposed into a multi-story fitness experience. The lowest level is a spa, pool, and locker room (complete with steam room), the second floor houses most of the fitness machines and yoga and cycling studio, while the top holds more cardio machines and fitness classes.
I've brought many friends here and referred many members. If you want to be in a place where you feel comfortable and challenged, equinox is worth a look.

I am a member in Boston and this location is up to par. Bottom line is this is a high end gym. Memberships without any employer discounts will run around $150 a month. The machines are on the newer side, they offer a wide variety of high quality classes, and have a great staff. The locker rooms at this facility and their other locations are the real high point. They are super clean and use Kiehls products throughout. They also have a steam room that is infused lightly with eucalyptus. The high price of this gym helps keep out most riff raffs and creeps that can be found at lower end gyms.

Worst GYM ever. The place is all smoke and mirrors. It's an artsy fartsy place that is not designed to be a gym. It's over crowded with not enough floor space and not enough equipment with always a long wait to get on anything. The staff are all pretend nice in a condescending way. The poor Personal Trainers look burned out like they have not slept in months and unhealthy. This place is owned by a big Wall Street investment company. They only care about the bottom line and treat people like cattle. Avoid.

As far as the "Elite" gyms go in SF, Equinox has been a long time competitor. With the opening of their Union Street location, its about time that Pine St steps up its game!
They have all of the right offerings - a big open floor, mat areas, fantastic trainers, amazing spa and a fully-loaded locker room. However, said offerings have seen better days (trainers and spa aside! they're always wonderful)... I look forward to the day that they renovate the locker rooms, and move in an Earth Bar. That existing food bar falls short of great. For the rates they're charging, its time to bring this location up to the high standards of the other locations.

Best gym experience hands down! I love this gym and the classes so much I often use my time there to help jump start my day at 6:30 a.m. Danny the spin instructor Tuesday and Thursday mornings does a great job motivating you to do your absolute best and sometimes more than you ever thought. I love the students who are equally dedicated to fitness as they are often there each and every morning working out like real athletes. The great amenities aren't anything to sneeze at either. The standard line that's used at equinox is Khiels products -- from your body washes to lotions. It's pricey club but def worth it!

I love this gym. Music always blasting, great modern equipment. Excellent classes such as spin and TRX, although I wish they offered more TRX classes in the evenings - I would go much more often just for that! A small pool with 3 split lanes - adequate, and I would love more. A cool old building as well. Looking forward to the new one that opens on Union Street - I hope that has a bigger pool and more TRX classes!

Really expensive gym. Has a nice pool that that doesn't get too busy. Best times to go are around 2pm as I find it's not too packed. The gym itself doesn't have too much equipment, so if you're just doing cardio, it's fine. Not a lot of weight machines. Overall pretty nice though!

The best thing about Equinox is their salt water pool--no chlorine, so much better than the usual. This large facility is in the old Pacific Stock Exchange building. Very nice amenities and bath products, eucalyptus scented steamroom. They often have low key social events. I recommend swimming here.

Equinox in SF gets a somewhat bad rap on Yelp, probably because its crazy expensive (even after corporate discounts) and small compared to other locations. But let's be honest.... the amentities are amazing, the staff are all super friendly, and you don't need to fight for treadmills. Here are some highlights:
Pros:
- Pool: They have a small pool with 3 lanes, not a common offering at nearby gyms. It gets crowded and you can't reserve a lane, but you can double up. I think the best pool in the area is at Sports Club LA, the gym at the Four Seasons on Market St.
- Amenitites: Khiels. Need I say more?? They also sell Lululemon and other items at the store, all of which they will price match. Haven't had a chance to check out their cafe, but the smoothies look good.
- Equipment: There are actually enough treadmills to go around, and they also have cool machines less commonly available like special treadmills for people with bad knees. The equipment isn't especially unique, but clean and more spacious than Crunch.
- Referral Bonus: Don't forget to refer people, you get $100 or so in credit that you can apply towards your membership, spa, or other services!
Cons:
- Crowded Classes: I am not a huge fan of the classes because they were a bit boring and the ones I did like were so cramped that I couldn't even do the exercises (Beach Body). Some classes are totally available (cycling). None of them are by reservation, and I don't believe they limit class size.
- Confusing Hard to Navigate Layout: I also think that the layout of the floors is really confusing and it makes it hard to get around.
Overall, if you have the money to spend Equinox is a cool spot but I'd rather go to Sports Club LA for a top-tier gym that has a nicer pool, more space, and more classes. For those with basic gym needs (e.g. treadmill and classes), I'd recommend Crunch and be prepared for even worse claustrophobia.
