Maintenance staff steals your AirPods. Management team are not responsive at all. They don’t issue referral credits or even a valid refund.
Been here for more than a year before the management team changed. Decided to leave after horrible customer service.
All of my referrals left too due to similar problems.

Conveniently located adjacent to Four Seasons Hotel on Market Street and with direct access on the 4th level. Huge fitness center with several floors and sections depending on what you wish to work out, large cardio sections with view over Market street. Very clean and organised club, with water and towels on each floor.

Despite an active promotion allowing members to bring a guest, my guest—who already had a valid guest pass—was denied entry. Instead of verifying his status in the system, the manager simply stated he couldn’t go in and made no effort to check or resolve the issue. As a result, my guest had to use my personal membership pass just to be admitted, which is unacceptable.
This incident reflects a broader issue: the management at this location demonstrates no level of professionalism or accountability. Their unwillingness to assist and dismissive attitude toward member concerns—particularly from Chris Karl—has been consistent and deeply disappointing.
Additionally, the fact that this facility does not offer basic working amenities such as Wi-Fi, despite being positioned as a premium fitness club, further underscores the lack of attention to member experience.
Members should not have to push to receive the service and respect they are promised.

SKIP the spa at this location. During a recent visit, the spa was clearly understaffed, with no one present at the front desk throughout my appointment. This was in stark contrast to the service I’ve received at the club’s spa at the 74th st location in NYC. Following the visit, I emailed the spa manager, Erika R., to describe the experience and, more importantly, to request a simple credit card change for the charge—since there was no staff available to process it in person. I received no response. Full charge, mind you: I didn’t even bother seeking a discount. Given the lack of professionalism and high costs of services, I highly suggest seeking treatments elsewhere—such as the Four Seasons Spa—for a more reliable and respectful experience.

This club kept charging me even after I cancelled my membership and is not responsive to requests for a refund. I had to report them to the California department of consumer affairs and block them on my AMEX card. This is a fraudulent business that will do anything to sign you up and once you're locked in, there is zero support for members on issues. DO NOT enter into contract with them.

Extremely large gym, and definitely on the better side of Equinoxes. But with so much space they should actually have a lot of different kinds of equipment. Other locations have more variety and newer equipment in smaller spaces, so I think this place needs a bit of investment to make it top class.

this is a massive gym that feels really dated and in desperate need of a remodel.....They really need to add treads to the stairs leading down to the swimming pool and rubber mats around the swimming pool so people don't slip...
looks like it might have been designed in the late 80's early 90's and never touched since then....what's up with all the fluorescent lighting...yikes! doesn't live up to the more modern luxury Equinox gyms on the east coast

The location is great, and there’s plenty of space to work out. It’s generally clean, which is a plus. However, the staff—especially some front desk employees, managers, and coaches—tend to be passive-aggressive and make unnecessary jab comments.
Unfortunately, this takes away from the overall experience. Could be a great place if the customer service improved.

I recently had a disappointing experience at this spa. First, my partner was left waiting for an extended period, with no communication or updates on when we would be attended to. My partner ended up waiting for nearly an hour, which was incredibly frustrating.
To make matters worse, we were double-charged for the service. We had no idea why this happened, and it took considerable time and effort to get the issue resolved.
Additionally, the spa insisted that we leave a 20% tip, which felt more like a demand than a suggestion. While tipping is customary, the way it was handled left us feeling uncomfortable and pressured.
Overall, the service was far below expectations, and we left the spa feeling disappointed and frustrated. I won't be returning.

Club San Francisco on Market has an extremely incompetent and bad management team. Simple thing like cancelling a membership takes a huge effort, time and immense amount of communication.
My daughter signed up for a month to month membership and when the time came to cancel, it became almost an impossible task to complete. Their process of canceling a membership is automated but it is not working. The mangers are not responsive. They don't retune your calls and It take multiple follow ups to receive a response to an email. Even when they respond the answers are vague and incomplete. They don't clarify the timeline for cancellation and the refunds, as my card was keeping getting charged even after we sent multiple requests for cancellation. Two month later I am still trying to receive a refund for cancelled membership. It seems to be they are doing everything possible not to give me that refund.

it just really isn’t a luxury gym. not in terms of customer service, not in terms of equipment.
it’s not significantly nicer than the Live Fit on Fillmore (which is $100 a month vs. $350). and unlike Equinox, the Live Fit has a cold plunge.
a lot of the treadmills are broken (incline doesn’t work) or have a pitifully slow touchscreen that has a full screen error message pop up. a lot of the water fountains have no water pressure.
there really just aren’t enough benches either racks. there’s like 3-4?
besides for the eucalyptus towels… it’s just a gym. i’ve been in luxury gyms. this isn’t one.
trying to sign up feels like buying a car at a shady dealership. It takes hours. The advisor i was supposed to meet with just… never showed up. While i was waiting, we weren’t even allowed to use the bathroom.
eventually got a tour. days later, an apology. but the general manager really refused to do anything, or even waive the initiation fee. the strangest part is that the initiation fee got waived anyway because of a referral?
anyway, hate the vibe from customer service
here, get a really weird energy.

I’ve been a member of Equinox for pretty long time, and I’m extremely frustrated with the recent experience I’ve had with their billing and customer service. I requested to freeze my membership for one month, as per the terms of my agreement, but was still charged the full price for that month.
Despite reaching out to the gym’s management multiple times to request a refund, they have refused to correct the issue or issue a refund, even though it was clearly their error. I’ve always been happy with the gym's facilities and services, but this lack of responsiveness and failure to honor the freeze terms has been incredibly disappointing.
I expect better from a company of this caliber, and I would caution anyone considering a membership to be aware of how they handle billing discrepancies. I’m considering taking further action to resolve this, but it’s been a frustrating and time-consuming process.

As a member here I must say the gym is amazing but the biggest problem with me is the hours of operation. I don’t get why out of all gyms in SF this is the gym that closed the earliest being the most expensive. As well as weekends they close as 6…on weekends? Is this for their employees or what because weekends should be open later it’s a weekend not a weekday

The gym is fairly well equipped. It feels like a converted office. I think people join for the classes. Not many power racks and they don't get used very much. Equipment is always open. Nice executive lockers if you want your gym clothes laundered. It's a minor benefit and I always found the towels smell like old coffee. Also they shrunk my shorts and all the labels peeled off my shirts. My advice: keep it simple with fitness sf, instead.

This is a beautiful luxury gym and it has all the equipment you will ever need. The staff tirelessly cleans everything and it is spotless. my honest review after being a member:
5 stars: the space
5 stars: cleanliness
5 stars: location and upscale gym experience. A really nice place to hang out and spend a few hours each day.
5 stars: trainers and staff.
3.5 stars: signature classes are good but not great.
Over all 3 stars: why?
3 stars for hours of operation. Should be open until later on weekdays and weekends even with minimum staff. If 24 hr fitness can do it on $20 membership, these guys can too.
3.5 stars for classes: the classes are good but they are all 45 minutes and they don’t have a good barbell class that compares to body pump or a boot camp. Having a solid boot camp would earn 1 additional star from me.
2 stars: membership contract and ease of enrollment, but difficulty of cancellation if you have to do it under a year. This gym is extremely inflexible with any issues that come up with membership. Also, I found that their freeze policy is extremely unfriendly because they continue to bill you during the freeze period at full price. And then they extend after the one year mark. I hate that a lot of gyms have these types of predatory fine print policies where they don’t have any flexibility for their members. Just beware before signing up that it is difficult to change your mind or deal with if issues come up.
3.5 stars: price/value considering hours and wide range of classes.
Biggest improvements for 5 stars would be add a bootcamp for 1 hour.
Extend hours of operation.
Price is fine. It’s a luxury gym. I don’t mind the price if the experience is great.

My wife and I have been members for the past 1.5 years. It is definitely on the pricy side but we really like the swimming pool, so have been happy with the experience overall.
Typically seen in most gyms, Equinox's membership contract isn't entirely transparent. We faced extra challenges due to mid-year relocation. Luckily, when we returned, Matt Palomino helped us reestablish everything. Specifically, we ran into a couple issues after signing up, and Matt quickly took care of those for us after we reached out, even though he totally didn't need to. It could have been an experience leaving us with a sour taste, but Matt turned things around by going above and beyond.

Well equipped gym, kinda odd with the front desk being on the top floor, but the staff is friendly and accomodating. Everything is very clean and maintained, any amenity you could think of, not sure if it’s worth $300 a month considering the other option, but if you are in to fitness, it offers virtually any option you can think of in a well maintained environment

This is the best equinox in the city, which isn’t saying much. Too little of the frequently used equipment like leg extensions (one machine in the entire gym). Beautiful locker room and amenities that are all extremely clean.
Gym etiquette is non-existent. This is the kind of gym where most people won’t let you work in and like to ”claim” machines. Very entitled clientele. As a result, the vibe is usually either cruisy or passive aggressive (and both) like many gyms in this city. At least this location is spacious enough so the bad vibes are not as overwhelming as in others.

The customer service here is not good and what you would expect for paying $325 a month. When I first signed up, they wouldn’t allow me to tour a gym (the pine street location) that I had already signed up and paid for and was rude about it. Then I upgraded my membership the next day to the sport club because I didn’t like the pine street location, and I was unable to find anyone to give me a tour of the new gym I signed up and paid for.
This I can let go, however it’s the false advertising that upset me. I had spoken to three different sales reps, and each told me that there were trainers in the gym that would be able to spot me when I needed a hand, which was a major selling point to me. I’ve been here 11 months and visit the gym four times a week consistently. And my entire time here, I haven’t been able to get a single spot from a trainer. When I ask, I always get the same answer, that they are busy assisting another client in their session. I inquired about this today, and another sales rep told me that this was an issue and that I should have been able to get a spot and that trainers should be on the floor at all hours of operation. I asked to speak to a manager about this, and then she informed me that this information was incorrect and that they only have someone around to spot on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from only from 5-7 pm and no other times available. This is entirely different than what I was told to get me to sign up for a membership (which was trainers are available at all hours to assist with spotting). Nothing else was done to fix this other than to offer me $100 off one month, which was a joke, considering they falsely advertised a service to get me in. And no one has checked back in with me after signing up about how my experience has been going at the gym. Overall, I’m completely dissatisfied with the customer service at equinox. They say they will get back to you, and then they don’t.

Visit here sometimes. I feel that the gym is pretty good. It is surprisingly crowded during the weekends. I don't like the early closing times (6PM) on weekends though. The pool is also usually crowded as well with some people taking over 30 minutes doing laps. There doesn't seem to be too many people to play against in the basketball court as well, unfortunately. The cost per month is pretty high though even to my standards compared to other gym competitors in the SF area. The equipment variety and quantity is decent here. I like the 3rd floor better than the small 2nd though. Locker room is very big and good.

Great gym I go almost everyday. I do have to say I am disappointed with management’s decision to close the gym at 6pm on the weekends. The hours seriously need to be reevaluated for a post-covid world and I have voiced this frustration multiple times. I am considering joining a gym with more accommodating hours if Equinox has no intention of restoring the full utility of its clubs, which the price tag certainly warrants.

Rude front desk staff and very inconsiderate with four longtime Equinox members. Older gym w/several floors, needs some upgrades and improvements, especially w/the silly condescending front desk staff. Unacceptable and nothing like any Equinox I have experienced before. I have been going to this gym off and on even before it was Equinox and was a LA Sports Club. I have never experienced bad service from this location until today. I will not recommend this location to anyone who wants to workout in SF. There are other Equinox locations that treat members professionally and are much newer and welcoming. The Union Street, Pine Street locations are much more welcoming and I would recommend Beale street but it has unfortunately been closed since the pandemic.

Today was not a good day as I was leaving the Club after my workout, I was letting my liquid lipstick dry. I was holding my mask a woman whom I've never seen before Orders me to put on my mask. It struck me sideways- I pay a lot to go there, I don't appreciate being ordered to do anything. I know masks are extremely important, I resent being Ordered by anyone, treated badly. I told her I d put it on when I was good and ready. Then I put it on at the elevator. She shouted “Thank You” I shouted back go to hell. Now I'm a bit embarrassed but she needs to request rather than order. Plus the pool just simply isn't clean enough, there should be no skin scum anywhere but there is and I'm continually irritated at this issue. Considering Covid and regular hygiene it should be sparkling clean, it's not.
It’s all worked out, I apologized for my angry outburst and all is well I love the Club

My favorite location in the city. Actually it’s the only one that feels worth the asking price, maybe San Mateo location as well. It can be crowded at peak hours, especially Mondays. The facility is clean, lots of equipment too. I love the pool, which generally does not have a wait and lifeguards tend to be better about managing the queue there. The gym is not clear about 30 min lane limit if there are folks waiting. That would be useful to post, because when a lifeguard is missing members take advantage of that and monopolize lanes. I don’t like that staff seems to toss lost and found items before placing them in the lost and found bin. I’ve seen them do it with other people’s stuff and when I lost my stuff I was told someone stole it. It seems unlikely that some dude would steal $20 Speedos if they can afford a $250 gym, but OK. Lastly, it would be good to have staff do more to manage squatters who are texting instead of working out. It’s an issue at every gym but it does seem to me that a high end gym could manage member behavior a little better to make the monthly fee palatable.

Perpetually undergoing renovations, which are poorly communicated. Staff are enthusiastic but don't know very basic things about the club. Beware: their staff appreciation events lead to early weekend closures. Aggressive, bro-ish management who are quick to tell you how smart they are even as they can't explain why they misplaced the contents of your rented locker (true story). Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Do not reward the contempt they show for their customers.

Pricey, but it's a really nice and clean gym. Gym is really made for private training, so prepared to get upselled.

The only gym I've joined that's been able to keep me coming back/ stick with the habit of working out.
Awesome facilities, incredible equipment, clean... depending on the time of day, reasonably spacious. The classes are good and their personal trainers will work with you to make fitness a habit.
...it's just pricey...

I've never been a gym person but Equinox is turning me. The classes are awesome, the facilities/equipment are well kept, and the smoothies are delicious. All of the staff I've encountered thus far have been pleasant and helpful, as have the other patrons. This place has exceeded my expectations.

I have never been more disappointed in a facility in my 65 years of life. I was a regular at the spa, spent a lot of money there and, unfortunately, bought work-out pants from the retail outlet. Upon washing them, the elastic in the waist band turned and could not be straightened out. I took them back and was told by the retail manager, Alex, "It is your fault. You put them in a too hot dryer!" I don't dry my work-out clothes in the dryer and I will never spend one more dime at Equinox. I am a Four Seasons regular, having stayed with them many, many times both in SF and on Maui. NO MORE! Thank you for your excellent customer service Alex! Mark Backer

Gym floor is a bit messy as people do not put equipment back nor is the staff cleaning up the equipment area.
Smoothy bar is extremely slow, took over 20 min for them to make my smoothy.
Berkeley Equinox is hands down much cleaners and better staff

TL;DR: If you can avoid peak bro-hour, you're onto a winner; albeit at a price.
Expensive but excellent. That is to say, compared with the majority of SF gyms, Equinox is a diamond in the rough.
Equinox SF is well equipped, and needs to be to accommodate 'bro hour' 6-7pm Monday and Tuesday. If you're unlucky enough to need peak workouts, prepare for curiously desperate displays of masculinity.
If you're able to avoid peak hours however, nothing holds a candle to this Equinox. The staff are pleasant and attentive, locker rooms cleaned regularly and the whole operation is well run. The equipment is clean, modern and well maintained. The trainers appear friendly and discreet, though I haven't used one. The range of machines, availability of squat racks and overall kit levels are excellent.

there is a very very rude staff.
he gave me too bad experience.
I am Asian. I was racist here.
I went to gym for register. I asked about the fee, but he did not answer to me and he just talked to me to check it on homepage. The staff was very rude and I asked him to let me know the price because it was difficult to find the fee on the homepage, but he ignored me and did not let me know the price. When I asked him why you didn't tell me the price. finally, he answer to me the fee.
really strange and crazy guy.

For the amenities this is worth the price, however you are best off if you can find off hours. Around peak time there is generally a wait for equipment and for showers.
Steam room, sauna, pool, chilled towels, and a good selection of machines and free weights.
