Club is under renovation and won’t be finished until 2027. The Yoga Room is closed for a month. Facilities go on and off, like the hot water, and the steam rooms sometimes don’t work. On the top floor right now at least half of the floor is closed off and the windows in the front are closed. It’s can get congested and crowded because of the space that has been blocked off.

I like this location. It's nice, big, organized, i find it clean and the classes are good.
Update - a few years on from y original review, this remains a solid gym. They are also doing some renovation work, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it will be

Got a membership here back when I was in LA on vacation. I loved working out here with such a young and vibrant crowd, they really kept me on my toes! Best feature was the steam room, when it fills up it gets especially hot and steamy!

This place has no pool or hot tub. It’s an overpriced gym that use to be nice but now it’s been under an ongoing construction/remodeling. If you come at the wrong time the place would be overcrowded. They have two amazing teachers Ronit K. (5 stars!!!) and Nicole Steen (but sadly Nicole is not very consistent, and once ai find a teacher that I like ai don’t like to be changing). Even if I pay the all gyms pass this one was my favorite

I recently worked with Erica and Ali to sign up for a new membership at Equinox. I’ve been exploring other gyms as well, but I’ve always appreciated this location for its cleanliness and overall atmosphere. As a former member, it already felt familiar walking back in.

I was initially hesitant to rejoin because of the ongoing renovations, but Erica and Ali took the time to address all of my concerns and made the process easy and welcoming. Both were incredibly helpful and communicative, which I really appreciate.

I’ve been a member at Equinox WeHo for a while, and unfortunately my recent experience has been disappointing. The front desk staff, especially Cole, completely lacks customer service skills. A high-end gym should train their staff better, and frankly, if he can’t treat members with respect, he shouldn’t be there.

On top of that, management made the baffling decision to take what was once a beautiful, open gym and ruin it by building a room in the middle. Why take away one of the best things about this location the open space and airy feel? It makes no sense and really hurts the atmosphere.

The only positive I can give is to the Guatemalan cleaning crew. They are the hardest workers in the building, and the only ones consistently showing pride in what they do. The bathrooms are always spotless thanks to them.

For the price of an Equinox membership, I expect far better.

Walked in yesterday to inquire about a membership since I'm new to the area. I asked if I could take a peek around. I was rudely denied by the girl at the front desk. She was filled with attitude. She told me that no one is available, "They all left for the day." When I asked if I could just do a self guided tour she further denied me and said, "Come back tomorrow before 3 PM. I was then told, "Actually, it's better to make an appointment." When I inquired about the rates both her and her co-pilot at the front desk IMMEDIATELY said simultaneously, "Oh they don't give us the rates." The guy then went into a speech about it depends on what you do and who you work for, corporate rates etc. Ha. I don't think I've ever been so turned off. A simple, "Self-guided tours aren't allowed and you need an appointment" would have sufficed in lieu of the pompous bullshit.

Been a member for 5 years and when I canceled today I found out I was paying more then new people
Signing up. $300+ a month. Greedy corporate, lovely in-house staff. The gym itself is very old and worn down. Areas of gym smell like mold and sewer. Maybe moisture in walls from past leaks and they have never fixed so smells terrible. Desperately needs a renovation however, too many good gyms in area to over pay for whatever they are going to do in future. They said they are going to charge more. Not a good move as this is not longer the paparazzi gym from 2012. Again lovely staff, we know it’s not you, it’s corporate…as always.

Our family has known Monique since the Pasadena days, and it’s been such a privilege to watch her journey over the years.

Wherever she goes—whether it was Pasadena and Studio City—the location just gets better with her presence and leadership.

Monique brings a special touch that truly elevates the environment.

She’s an incredible leader, always providing top-notch service with a warm, welcoming attitude. She’s one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet, and seeing her growth within Equinox has been so inspiring.

Keep up the amazing work, Monique—you make a difference everywhere you go!

At approximately 4:11 PM, May 16, after placing and paying for my order — which included a smoothie and a protein patty — I politely asked to use the restroom. I had just come from a business meeting and made the request at the front desk. One of your employees, Sofia (who was on shift at the time), denied me access in an extremely unprofessional and inappropriate manner.

She asked whether I was a “Member,” and when I responded that I was not, she told me I couldn’t use the restroom and that I should “go somewhere else.”

This behavior was not only disrespectful but entirely unacceptable — especially considering I was a paying customer. Denying restroom access in such a dismissive and demeaning way, particularly to someone who may have health needs, is not only inconsiderate but may also carry serious legal and reputational implications.

I live in Orange County and have been a Life Time Fitness member for over seven years. I had been genuinely considering transferring my membership to your club. However, after this unpleasant and degrading experience, I am no longer interested in doing so.

I respectfully request a formal response with clarification on your policy regarding restroom access for paying guests, as well as an explanation of the steps you intend to take regarding the conduct of your staff.

The level of douchey behavior at this gym is beyond. All stems from staff and their lack of care. Watched two guys use two separate machines just to hold their bottles and phones even though they were using other equipment. Staff could not care less that they were doing that during the busy morning. This is a hospitality brand that is losing its luster.

I have been an Equinox member for almost 3 years. I have sung Equinox’ praises as far as it’s versatility in classes and level of expertise of teachers across the board at their gyms - however the West Hollywood location is my local “home gym” and it is my least favorite space to work out in. None of the policies are adhered to - people constantly on their phones, video recording or taking pictures in the locker rooms and on the gym floor. People on their phones IN YOGA CLASS. The staff is not warm or friendly at all upon entering the gym and that’s not how to set out a day of working out, and yes act as though it’s our privilege to step foot in the door. Horrible customer service. I’m in the industry but the gym is a place to go for my recovery and safe space; when I am suffering medically the last thing I want as I’m trying to heal is someone exploiting me intentionally or inadvertently by recording me on their damn phones. It’s entirely disrespectful to members of one of most expensive locations. Because it’s closest to me and I suffer from medical issues I am not always able to make use of my SoCal access and need to get to my nearest gym relative to where I live - otherwise I’d never return to this location. The showers are limited, small, and often times don’t even work. I’m a team Emilie Perez and Leslie Greer gal (hey you should pay your employees better since they’re most of the reason you have the numbers you do at this facility.)
and if it weren’t for them I definitely would not return to the WeHo location. Such a bummer when I have such fervor to recruit people to the Equinox way but I can’t support this specific studio. Get it together.

Equinox West Hollywood — A Masterclass in Mediocrity Disguised as Luxury

Oh, Equinox West Hollywood. Where delusion goes to lift weights and sweat out self-awareness in a steam room the size of a coat closet.

One enters expecting luxury, innovation, perhaps a whiff of dignity. Instead, one is met with the pungent aroma of overpriced mediocrity. The facility? A glorified LA Fitness with better lighting and worse attitudes. No pool, darling—because clearly, swimming is too pedestrian for this temple of inflated egos and hollow branding.

And the steam room? Please. I’ve seen more space in a Birkin. It’s less “restorative wellness” and more “claustrophobic afterthought.”

But the true pièce de résistance? The staff. Equal parts aloof and undertrained, they seem to believe that indifference is chic. It’s not. It’s simply lazy. And management—ah yes, management. A masterclass in performative empowerment wrapped in a fever dream of toxic pseudo-feminism and faux exclusivity. They mistake gatekeeping for prestige, and self-importance for culture.

In short, Equinox West Hollywood is where ambition goes to die beneath a weighted squat and an $300 monthly membership fee. Save your money. Buy a treadmill. Or better yet, your dignity.

Nice gym, but as others have mentioned, the level of customer service at all levels at Equinox is mindblowingly terrible. They treat you as if it’s a privilege to be their customer.

You’d think a business that has to reduce customer churn in order to keep their business profitable would make this a priority — but Equinox does not. No wonder their membership numbers have been plummeting in recent years.

I hope they can successfully raise money to pay their $1.2B of debt coming this year. (How does a gym manage to get into this much debt?)

I had a rep helping me out from a different location that advised me to walk into the nearest equinox location to physically update my credit card on file. This should be a five-star gym. It’s not because the management doesn’t seem to understand what makes a gym five stars. Community. A five-star gym has the best teachers. I used to drive past three Equinox gyms (past Westwood, Beverly Hills, and Century City) to go the WeHo gym to take Emilie Perz's yoga class. Her class brought me to this gym. Her level of knowledge and understanding of not just how to structure a class, knowledge of flow and posture, but also how the body works was top-level. She’s been teaching at this gym for over ten years, and apparently they refused to pay her a fair rate; the management doesn’t seem to understand the value of a great teacher. Teachers matter. Great teachers should be paid well. Great teachers create a community, they create a following, and are worth at least three stars to a gym’s score. The WeHo Equinox did not treat one of their best (if not the best) yoga teachers they had in a fair and equitable way and they lost her; and the Equinox brand lost my respect. Emilie Perz was the reason I came to this gym and without her, to me, this is just a one-star gym (many other gyms I could go to are better). The management of this gym, and the Equinox corporate executives need to make this right, they need a policy of paying great teacher well; tapping the talent of great teachers and fitness experts better. Teachers who fill their classes and build community with passion and skill deserve better. Give great teachers the credit, value, and pay where it is due, or shame on you. Equinox lost a great teacher which is such a shame. They messed up, and that’s why I give the gym one star. If they ever make it right with Emilie Perz I will change my rating. They should pay her well and bring her back. If they don’t know how to hold onto talent like her they will crumble as a company and brand. Fix it, or your stars fall from grace to disgrace.

Despite no filming/no recording policy so many people film in here, so get ready to end up on some wannabe influencers videos.

And that’s what they call a luxury gym? Hilarious…

If you’re a straight male who likes to use the sauna, be cautious because you might walk in on 3 non straight men fondling (I’m keeping it PG) each other on a Tuesday at 5pm. I’m curious to see if the cameras really work because a report was filed. I’m traumatized and hope the perpetrators are caught and banned per the company policy. I’m not one to write negative reviews, but people, straight men specifically, should be made aware. Weirdos for real for real..

(+) Location good and crowd younger
(+) intensity of classes is higher here (along with Miracle Mile); think Equinox fits the class intensity to the crowd
(+) 2 floor areas for weights - one squats/back/leg press area on first floor then free weights on second

(-) WAY too crowded, classes are mat right next to your neighbor and weight rooms are packed
(-) smaller showers
(-) yoga/pilates studio and conditioning studio has no windows
(-) no sauna

(neutral) A lot of influencer-looking people go to this location compared to the other Equinox locations

My personal opinion is that I prefer other Equinox gyms, but often gear my choice of gym to the class I want to take for the day (so have not truly felt the weightroom vibes out)

It’s true that staff members will have videographers film you without your consent. If you show up to a class you have no way of knowing in advance or even by greeting the teacher that a photographer is going to appear and begin filming you. Ridiculous disrespectful practice. I have proof of this, I took pics of the videographer and teacher. I informed the front desk staff that I was appalled and they apologized and acknowledged that even they do not sign up for certain classes bc they don’t know when the videographer is going to show up.

If the club responds “this doesn’t sound right”, as they tend to do after other negative reviews, that’s misleading and false, because it is what happened and happens at this equinox West Hollywood club. Multiple staff members were informed , acknowledged it was true, and I have proof. What’s almost worse is the weak response by the company, which just escalates the issue instead of even attempting to make it right.

I so want to give this gym a 5***** review but I can’t. I hope this can change soon… I’ll change my review if I see improvement.
It’s a nice location, free parking for 2h and just one dollar afterwords. Training might be underestimated. I’ll say this: working with a trainer is life changing. I have never been a gym person until I became a member here and blessed to train with a T3 trainer at Equinox. I have not enough ⭐️ stars to give for such a service! Invest in yourself and work with that trainer!!! It’s your health and your longevity!!! So worth it!!!!!

I tell you this: equinox needs to level up their game!!!
I feel like the energy field needs a boost!!!

this location needs remodeling. A nice gym needs a sauna!!! A cold plunge!!! Why not a Cryotherapy?!
Step up and keep up with evolution, Equinox!!!!
I know it can be better than what is right now!!!

I'll be honest, the majority of the reviews on this page are full of it (I would say something else but I am sure google would remove it after the triple ply soft other reviewers reported it). I went to Equinox in the Republic of Texas and then in London. I moved to West Hollywood and decided to jump on the John Reed bandwagon...mistake. It is "cute" all the little lights and signs, the DJ in the booth, etc. I come to workout and actually get after it. I have NEVER seen someone taking pics or recording at an Equinox, John Reed is one giant instagram shoot where they encourage you to take videos. John Reed has no towel service, no pool, no steam room, and almost no trainers whatsoever. J.R. is putting in a plunge pool and hot tub for summer, "cute", I want a real pool so I can swim and actually workout like I am paying to do. Let's be honest we are all just getting ready for PV and Fire Island anyways, do we really need to sit around being catty with each other on a random Tuesday at a gym's plunge pool as well? WEHO Equinox does not have a pool but your membership is all of Southern California, the ones right down the street about 5 mins do. I saw someone said its dated, a bit maybe but it is getting a complete remodel. There is a steam room, trainers, a greater number and variety of classes, pools, locations, it goes on and on. If you are looking for content by all means go to John Reed. If you are looking for an upscale gym where people are there to workout, get better, transform themselves, then WEHO Equinox is 100% the place for you. Plus, it has free parking which John Reed does not. Call and ask for Conner, he made coming back super easy for me. Jake is my personal trainer I have been seeing 4 times a week, he's next level. I have specific goals and timelines that I am trying to hit and not every trainer knows how to get to where I want to go. Workouts, dietary, body composition, aesthetics, I told him exactly what I wanted and he has done all the work to make the plan to get me there not to mention motivate.

DO NOT listen to the chirping. At a minimum call Connor, check it out, have a workout then make the call for yourself. I have zero regrets.

Judgmental and disrespectful staff. Not a welcoming atmosphere at all. I’ve been an Equinox member for 2 years, with a home base of Culver City, and have sometimes used the Mid-City location. I recently moved to West Hollywood, and this location is now the closest to my new home.

I’ve only been to the facility a handful of times; and here are my observations.

The facility is not maintained properly. Floors, equipment, and the locker rooms are especially dirty. There is a considerable smell in most parts of the facility, adding to the lack of proper maintenance.

The staff is not there to provide help, assist, or do much of anything besides stand around and talk with each other.

Facility rules are not enforced equally. There are various folks recording content on their phones, with phone stands, mics, etc. I’ve seen folks also have 20-30 minutes conversations in front of high traffic areas, including the free weight station and mirrors, resulting in less space for folks to workout.

One rule that was enforced on me today, which is part of the reason for me writing this review, was relating to my shoes. The manager of the facility interrupted my workout, told me to take my headphones off, and told me that my shoes were against his policy. I have always wore rubber Birkenstocks to workout, as they are easy to slip on and off when doing leg workouts, stretches, and they’re just comfortable. He told me that they are not allowed, and next time I will need to wear appropriate footwear to workout in “his” facility.

As I mentioned earlier, I’ve been a member for two years, and wore the same workout attire, shoes included, at the Culver City and Mid-City locations without any issues. It’s also not uncommon to see others wearing the same style shoe for the same purposes.

It’s unfortunate that the manager of the facility chose to target a single person due to their shoe choice. Enforcing rules that would make the facility a better place for the entire community should be a priority for a facility manager. His time could be better spent directing his staff to maintain and clean his facility to a standard that aligns with the EQX brand.

Had the worst massage of my life On Sep 10, 2023 at Equinox WeHo, worse than a cheap Asian massage place.

Extremely unpleasant experience with my masseur, Ulysses. He was very unkind to me,
Complaining about my body and how tense it is and that he cannot work on it unless I loosen my body. He kept huffing and puffing the whole time and saying “oh my god. Oh my god”. I told him this is making me more nervous than relaxed and that I’d like to stop the massage; he immediately said “that’s better” and said “if you want to get a massage after working out, you need to drink a lot of water” then he walked out of the room.

Spoke to the receptionist (I believe her name is Jessica) and she said she’s sorry it’s not a good match. I asked to speak to the spa manager but she said she’s off today. So I went downstairs to the gym reception and asked for a manager. Waited then the spa manager showed up (apparently she’s not off). She was apologetic but that’s it. She defended Ulysses and said we never had this experience with him and that he has a specific massage style. I explained to her how disrespectful this experience was to me and how unkind he was while I was on the table. She said we will communicate that feedback to him.

Long story short, I’m extremely disappointed in Equinox WeHo spa given that I had very high expectation as a first timer there but I walked out of the massage room after 15min feeling disrespected as a human being and treated unkindly by the masseur.

I decided to join Equinox due to the more mature and professional atmosphere it provides compared to other gyms, which often felt akin to a high school lunch yard. The facility boasts commendable equipment and impeccably maintained locker rooms. Great location, staff, and facilities, but honestly overcrowded and out of date when compared to other LA locations. This location is so popular that Equinox should consider expanding the space.

Shout out to Gabby S. She’s the best membership advisor at Equinox Weho. She’s friendly, polite and not pushy. I was contemplating membership a few months ago and finally decided to join recently. She was never pushy or aggressive which I think is quite important.

Weho location is great. Since it does get busy, they have multiples of popularly used machines. Plenty of squat racks. Clean facilities. It does get pretty busy, but it’s one of my favorite locations.

The SPA: the spa here is so amazing! A beautiful view of the city with chaise lounges on a sunny rooftop. Matt, the spa manager is such a nice guy!! And, I highly recommend Soo! She is such a kind and caring masseuse 😊 she uses hot stones and nice warm towels and nice firm pressure. Kendall is also amazing!!!

Equinox is pricey, but you get what you pay for. The quality of the classes and equipment is better than what you get at many other gyms/fitness clubs. This location is nice, but the interior has some wear and tear and could be kept a bit cleaner, though that is likely due in part to how busy the location gets. Overall if you're looking for a gym with great classes and above-average amenities, this is the place for you.

Vaccination is mandatory now. I am vaccinated, but refused to extend my membership since this segregation goes against my principals. Switched to a normal “non-luxury” gym and saving 200bucks a month now. Good luck with this.

Sooooooo disappointed!
Been going to this location frequently for 8 months.
I live in miracle mile, but drive up to West Hollywood, only because of fellow members and some amazing instructors,From whom I made so many good friends.
But members and my favorite teachers aside,
Because of so many reason this location do not deserve even one star !
1- unprofessional Staff : almost never have they greet me and others friendly, you have to initiate to say hi or bye to them or else they ignore you.
2- the management: soooo rude! Yes they are!
Today I was doing an intense session of PR on the treadmill,After being 80 sec at my PR level which is 9 btw, you can imagine how breathless I was, so I took my mask off for a sec to catch my breath back and have a sip, right at that recovery time, this rude girl who later i found, is one of the managers, passing by me, giving me a terrible attitude to put my mask on, I told her breathlessly, that I will, once I gain my breath back.
She then called the VP who was even more rude and unprofessional , they kept threatening me and putting me down with their disrespectful behavior.
I finished my work out, and initiated to cancel my
membership, and the VP did not even apologized, nor tried to make me change my mind!
Soooo sorry for this poor management, the unreasonable hard time they gave me, for working out intense and taking my mask off for couple of secs.
3-we pay for a luxury gym, while nothing is luxury here, very old equipments, the water fountains so out dated, the one in the main hall was out of order for 3 months, and the hesitated to change it to a new one, instead they fixed the broken part only!
4- the lay out is not even nice, two story, and not enough
space between equipments.
I will keep spreading this feed back to all people around me so they know they should not waste their money at equinox West Hollywood.
Shame

Overall the facility is clean, there is enough room and I enjoy the perks at the locations of Equinox because I travel. BUT Weho's kickboxing instructor, Steven Dell last week verbally was harassing a member in the gym and followed the member to his car. He got aggressive. Steven was parked in the wrong parking spot (for exec members only) yelling, cussing and screaming at a member who was parked next to him (the member was my friend and I witnessed it). Do not take his classes or engage with him, he is entitled, unprofessional, aggressive and not fit for his position. I don't know how he got hired there.

Please do not choose this gym if you aren't already top notch. It is an extremely unwelcoming, cold and uncomfortable place for beginners. Majority of the crowd is there to show off /compare gym outfits.
You'll be judged and critiqued harshly by the crowd.

A bit pricey but Im a big fan of the Equinox brand. I like that its not as crowded as other gyms. I like the amenities that they offer. Most people come for the classes. The instructors are better than your typical instructors at gyms. Equinox tends to be a bit cleaner with better equipment.
Again, a bit pricey but some times you pay a bit more for a slighting grander experience.

I have been a member for the last couple years. I used to go to the Beverly Hills location. Recently I moved (not far though) and I swithed to west Hollywood location. The crowd is less Beverly and younger people and I kind of like it. Yoga class is bigger here but sometimes is still to packed. The pool is missing at the both locations.

Blonde manager at the front had a very “snooty” attitude when I inquired about a guest pass. “Members only” she replied. Oddly enough, I’ve received day passes at other Equinoxes in LA, Chicago, and Miami, just dropping a friends name that trained at those locations. I inquired about other possibilities but her nose stayed in the air. I have no qualms with their policy, it was the attitude. One fitness professional to another - Very poor customer service.

It makes me sad that I have to write a review like this. My boyfriend has been going to this gym for awhile. He paid to much money for a trainer. And to add to that the trainer completely disrespected him and talked down to him. It’s absolutely disgusting

I came in to Equinox West Hollywood with my friend the other day who is a member and used one of his guest passes to try out the gym because I was considering joining. The manager Michael who signed me in was very abrasive and condescending when getting my information when I was simply trying to cooperate with him. After being granted access I really enjoyed the facility and emenities but I still can't get past the unwarm welcome I experienced when being checked in. Because of this I plan on checking out other equinox locations in the area.

Apparently going through their freezing the membership procedure doesnt actually do anything...they keep charging you, without authorization (i had my cc number changed, yet this still somehow took money from me).

The gym is the lamest place i've ever seen... It's a bunch of people paying $200 per month to look like they are working hard without actually having to do any real hard work. Nobody ever got in the best shape of their life by going to equinox..thats a fact. Lame gym for weiners

Best location in LA! I hope my review doesn't make it more crowded, but I went for my first time today and loved it! Here's why:

1) Gym size. Plenty of space and number of machines I didn't find myself waiting or crowded though the gym was full of people at 11AM on a Monday.
2) Equipment. The range of equipment was beyond any gym I've ever been too. A true TRX station, Jacob's Ladder, Trampoline (for throwing medicine balls against), 2 sperate areas for Freeweights with Benches.
3) Great people. Everyone from the staff to the other members looked like they enjoy being there. Because it's Equinox, one can feel out of place by other pretentious members. Here I felt like an equal and received a lot of smiles and hellos. Not the case at Beverly Hills or Santa Monica.

This gym is 11 years old.. And it is standing the test of time. Crunch fell to ruin years ago, with it's ripped equipment and ripped tape on the floors.

This location- while not as spiffy as the newer Equinox locations- had phenomenal views of LA and boasts a celebrity clientele.. If you're into that kind of thing. Be discovered! Or, be like me and keep hat and headphones.

This place is a great gym but REALLY busy. You might have to wait to use a machine you like. The classes are also really good and I am always sore the day after. The locker room is AMAZING but should be clean more often... to look more elegant, so clean. Usually, I hate taking a shower anywhere else but my own bathroom. But I will spend hours in this one :)

You are serious about your work out? You want to see results? You want to become pretty by osmosis? Well this is the place for you. The gym is super clean, I would say it's immaculate. Some of the best experts come her to train. Some of the best make this their home. Some of my favorite classes are Kristin Kaminskis Heated Power Yoga. You will be sweating next to some of the cities hottest bodies, she will make you sweat, she will make you gain plumply glutes and tight abs. Just this class alone is worth the price of admission. The showers are exquisite, Keihls products all around. This is only for the serious because only the strong survive.

Overpriced, overcrowded and management is a bunch of uneducated fools that is apparently too desparate to keep their numbers up they attempt to charge you months after you cancelled your membership (i.e. criminal!). If you join you will want to cancel and apparently if you do you cannot take the word of the staff that it has been taken care of and you'll charged $150 (for months) and they won't stop! Aside from that you may as well be at a gay brothel.
