Dear Management/Club Manager,
I am writing to formally bring to your attention an incident that took place at Equinox Westwood and to request that it be properly addressed.
On Saturday, I called the gym to inquire about a personal item (a cream) I had misplaced on Wednesday. The staff member I spoke with told me that nothing had been found. I specifically asked if the lost and found area behind the office could be checked, and after placing me on hold, the staff member returned and confirmed that nothing was there. However, when I visited the same location later that day, the cream was returned to me—meaning it had in fact been located.
The issue is NOT about the cream itself, but about being misled. If this had been an expensive or irreplaceable item, I would have suffered an unnecessary loss due to being given incorrect information. This is not the first time I have experienced something similar at this location.
On my next visit, I attempted to clarify the situation directly with the employee, but instead was approached by the general manager, Jennifer Stein. Rather than helping resolve my concern, she escalated the situation. She raised her voice, sighed, rolled her eyes, and treated me dismissively. She stated it was “policy” not to confirm lost items over the phone and refused to provide a written copy of such a policy when I requested it—then later admitted NO such written policy exists. This inconsistency and her attitude left me feeling disrespected and unheard.
For the record, I remained calm and respectful throughout this interaction. I did not raise my voice or speak disrespectfully at any point. I would ask that you review the security camera recordings (front desk area) from September 30, 2025, between 7:10 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., which will confirm this.
To be clear:
I was misinformed by staff on more than one occasion.
I was treated disrespectfully by the general manager, Jennifer Stein, when seeking clarification.
I was told contradictory information about a supposed “policy.”
I respectfully ask that:
Staff are trained to provide accurate, consistent information to members regarding lost items.Management addresses the unprofessional conduct I experienced, as no member should be subjected to dismissive or disrespectful behavior.
A clear and transparent policy regarding lost and found procedures be communicated to members to prevent this from happening again.
I value the facilities at Equinox, I have been a member of Equinox literally 4 years, but I CANNOT overlook repeated instances of being misled and treated poorly. I hope this matter will be taken seriously and addressed appropriately.
Sincerely,

I tried the 45-minute Aescape robot massage at Equinox and definitely recommend giving it a try. I’ve had 50+ massages in my life, so I have a solid baseline for comparison, and this was unlike anything else.
The experience is very customizable — you choose the music, pressure level, and even lighting or visuals. The heated robotic arms add a nice touch of comfort, and once your body is scanned and mapped, the system follows your chosen plan (upper back, lower back, legs, etc.) with consistency you rarely get from human therapists. It feels private and predictable.
That said, I still prefer the intuition and hands-on feel of a skilled massage therapist, especially for deeper or more targeted work. But as a fun, futuristic option, it’s worth trying at least once. Convenient, private, and a cool perk to have at Equinox.

Terrible from desk service especially by Bethany. They offer you a free trial and then make it impossible to see their facility. For the amount of money you pay customer service should be a priority but across the board just bad service.
Huge props to Sam at front desk.

I’ve been going to Equinox Westwood for a few months now and it’s easily one of the best gyms I’ve been to. The space is always clean, the equipment is top-tier, and the classes are actually motivating. Staff is friendly and the overall vibe is really motivating without feeling overwhelming.

The Westwood Equinox is unequivocally the worst example of the quality and luxury that Equinox professed in their advertisements. This location is terribly managed and unresponsive to customer's complaints. Old or broken equipment comparatively to other locations and other high end gyms. Hot water is hit or miss, the steam room is out of order half the time and if equiptment breaks it can take as long as 6 months to replace. Find another location or choose a different gym. After paying for boxing classes, buying gloves for my brother, niece, and myself we were unable to use the speed bag because the attachment snapped. 6 months to replace... and attitude from an assistant manager who argued "Are you questioning my management style."
Usually you get what you pay for but not at Westwood Equinox.
On the plus side they have great parking and may be a convenient location... unfortunately you'll waste your money expecting an Equinox level environment at Westwood Equinox.

$250/month for one leg press machine… staff is awesome, place is always clean, but Equinox got cheap with this location. This isn’t an issue if you are going in the afternoon, but you might as well pull a number like you’re at a deli for the leg press machine between 5-7pm

EDIT: I am downgrading this to a two star review. Lately, management has been playing Fox News on literally ever other TV in the whole gym. It's inesacapable. Can't lift, run, or even change in the locker room without having to look at racist, misogynist drivel.
Original Review: This is my “home” gym, and it is by far my favorite of the SoCal Equinoxes I’ve visited. Very well laid out. Spacious locker room. I have never run into an issue of cleanliness or broken equipment. Regulars are a mix of professionals working in West LA, with a smattering of grad students and retired folks. Feels fairly low attitude - especially compared to Beverly Hills. Class schedule is pretty robust and the instructors i’ve met have all been excellent. Perhaps most importantly, it’s never really that crowded, while always feeling lively.

Very disappointed of this what called‘Luxury gym” they don’t value honesty or integrity. I have contacted them hundreds time for refund since I wasn’t able to practice,, they asked for doctor note and even after I did provide it , the manager in NYC told me that she will be contacting team in LA. However, they email me like they don’t know anything, and then when I respond I only receive auto messages . They all care about how they could charge for anything,, but they have no integrity,,it’s really not classy or luxury when it comes to customer service. Very cheap CS honestly. If I could do zero stars, that what I could give.
Thank you!

This is a well-designed Equinox with two floors of weights and equipment, including bikes, treadmills, etc. I travel a lot and have a all-access membership and have worked out at many Equinox locations. This one is easy to get to and a great location as it is right off the 405 and Wilshire. My only complaint is some of the Equinox members (not staff) are strangely rude. I only go to this Equinox if I absolutely must. Not sure if it is the area or west LA in general... I have noticed the further out of west LA, the friendlier the Equinox members are. To be clear: The STAFF at Equinox are A+ and always friendly - everywhere I've encountered.

Unfortunately, this gym continues to disappoint. It’s been over a year now but they haven’t fixed the air-conditioning system which keeps going out. Today the hot water in the showers was nonexistent and they didn’t know why. The building is new so it doesn’t make sense. This is by far the worst equinox of all the clubs ….by the way this is all in addition to having my wallet and watch stolen out of the locker room last year.

You would think that after they raise prices to “improve overall quality of the gym” they would actually do that. Instead, we’re left with deferred maintenance and faulty equipment.
The men’s locker room hasn’t had air conditioning for the last two weeks, shower doors are creaky and sway open while you’re showering, steam room door doesn’t fully close, and (also in steam room) there hasn’t been a single bottle of eucalyptus spray that worked since I started my membership in early 2022.
These are just a few maintenance items that really don’t make this gym worth the price. I guess this begs the question: how much do we have to spend to get a luxury gym experience?

2023 UPDATE: This gym has gotten worse. Price is now $245 a month. Equipment is dirty, facilities are not maintained, gym is overcrowded, and management is rude and inattentive.
TLDR: You are better off throwing away $245+ a month (the cost of membership to this gym) than giving it to this specific location.
Potentially one of the worst gyms in the area, this gym does NOT meet the standards of other local equinoxes. The club is horribly mismanaged. This gym is located in a large office complex, which leads to overcrowding between 6AM-9AM and 4PM-Close. You can barely access equipment during these times.
Even worse, the Equinox personal trainers use their free membership to workout during these hours, taking up equipment that paying members would otherwise use.
The club is also terribly dirty. If you enjoy having dirty hands after working out, this is the gym for you. The smallest amount of sweat combined with touching the gym equipment will leave a disgusting layer of brown muck on your hands. The maintenance team is likely understaffed and does a sub-par job at keeping the facilities clean. Broken amenities (scales, sinks, clogged showers, etc.) take too long to fix.
As icing on the cake, the club validates parking for two hours and nine minutes. If you are one minute late, the parking machine will charge you $3.10 for every 12 minutes your car is in their garage.

I have been a member since 2005 when this Equinox just opened. This used to be a wonderful gym and the trainers are outstanding. However, it has deteriorated considerably since the new manager has come on board. As an example, I was told that massage sessions not used during Covid would be reinstated. After being told I had three unused sessions (over $300) and talking to the manager, who said she would look into it, I got a phone message that they would not be. I’ve written three emails for an explanation. The manager is never available. This after 18 years if membership!
Update: I am editing this review two weeks from the first posting. After writing to the Concierge at Equinox, the Equinox regional manager reached out to me and the general manager at Westwood finally got back to me. I have now been credited with the unused sessions, and the general manager apologised. This was very unnecessary, but I appreciate that they finally addressed this. I have nonetheless decided to transfer my membership to Century City and upgrade my membership to Destination so I can go to any Equinox. This allows me to keep my trainer at Equinox. I hope that other issues at this club are addressed.

Terrible !
I’ve sent first email on July 3rd , asking for freezing my membership for a month! I was asked to send the email to another person. I was told that am able to freeze 2 months per year contract! But don’t believe whatever they tell you when they want you to sign a contract with them! I sent on 10th of July another email to follow up because no one responded to the original email. I was told that I can’t freeze in august, but I can do so in September! I told them that am going to be traveling in august not September, but no matter what you say they don’t seem to understand what your saying!! So I sent again email on 11th of July ! No response!!
Then I got an email from a third person saying that I can’t freeze in august but I can do so in September…. I again explained the situation!
Btw , when you freeze they say they charge you $50 ! Which was never the case ! When I freeze my membership for One months in December last year they charged me way more ! I was told that they will get back to me on this for a clarification but no one did !
I copied the cancellation team on my email on 12th July and they never wrote me back! I again sent them an email AGAIN on 17th of July but they never responded!!!!!
I spoke yesterday with the manager who is already been contacted a several times! She told me she will get back to me! But no idea when .
Am so disappointed with the way they handle this business, and their professional level!
I wish I read these reviews before I joined them!
If you look at the very recent reviews you can have an idea of the situation at this gym !
they charge you $225 every single month, and they have you to commit to this for whole year! It’s ridiculous!
Do you really think that I haven’t contacted concierge before me posting here ?????
I wish I can post the emails that have been sent to show how many times I have tried to solve the before posting here , but google don’t let me post emails screenshot for maybe privacy reasons.

I’ve been going here for 10 years and it used to be a wonderful gym. Now there seems to be somebody who is a thief as I had my wallet and watch stolen from a locked locker. This has also happened to two other individuals that I know (their lockers were also locked). Management refuses to admit there is an issue. They have also oversold memberships recently to the point where it’s almost impossible to find a free weight bench or machine between 7 and 10 AM or 4 PM until 8 PM. If you swim be prepared to wait in line. I have canceled my membership and will just work out at home as it’s no longer worth coming here.

Awful experience with the manager at Equinox Westwood. Having experienced an injury, I went to the Equinox Sportsclub on Sepulveda whilst my membership was on freeze to use the pool for rehab. The Sepulveda branch told me that you could use the facilities a few times whilst your membership is on freeze. Since the pool was closed for maintenance, they advised me to Uber over to the nearest Equinox in Westwood which has a pool. After arriving to the Westwood branch, the manager checked me in and immediately began to provide attitude and disrespect once checking in claiming that under no circumstance or in any of her many years of experience as a manger, had she heard that you could use the facilities whilst your membership is on freeze. When I said to hear that I was informed by the other branch to head over to Westwood and that this was what she told me, she rolled her eyes at me and insisted I was wrong. She was incredibly rude and disrespectful. I insisted that she call the Sepulveda branch to which many times she didn't seem interested. After further insistence she picked up the phone and spoke to them - surprise to surprise, Sepulveda told her that I was able to use the facilities a few times whilst my membership was on freeze. The manager was too stubborn and rude to admit that she was wrong and worst of all, she failed to apologize. This disrespect and rudeness is something no-one at Equinox or any luxurious health center should experience. What an absolute disgrace.

One of my fav locations for many reasons. The indoor lap pool is heaven sent. The towels are actually clean and warm and they also have a cold fridge for smaller towels with a eucalyptus scent and it's very refreshing after a good 5-10 miles of cardio. Take one of those cold towels in to the sauna or steam room after your private training session, it'll feel like a mini spa. You can finish off with a shower and don't worry the shower gel, face wash, shampoo & conditioner are in every shower and no they don't skip on the warm towels. Classic EQUINOX coming in clutch and delivering simplicity with a smile, the front desk is always happy and pleasant and nice.

Modern equipment; there are 3 racks and an indoor swimming pool. 4-7 will be very busy with the yuppie crowd just getting off work on the Westside so I would try to avoid it. Been holding onto a lot of this info for a while, but tired of keeping to myself. Went to this gym for a while, and because of the pandemic I was unlikely going to continue working out at any gym. I went in and asked to have my gym membership paused, they said they would have to charge me $30/ month just to pause it. This was at the beggining of the pandemic, so instead of arguing I assumed life would be back to normal soon enough so I agreed. A couple of days later, i see on the news that all gyms will have to be shut down due to the pandemic, shortly after I get an email from this Equinox asking for me to put in writing that it is okay to for them to freeze my account and charge $30. I responded with "what are you talking about, all gyms are closed, why would I be charged if you are closed anyway? That makes no sense." they responded with "okay, thank you".
I found it funny that they were trying to get money from people that wouldn't fight back so ignored it.
Then later during the pandemic I get emails saying "Your chance to UPGRADE to our outdoor gym for the low price of $X". Upgrade from what? All indoor gyms are closed due to the pandemic, now they want more money to be able to join your gym. Whatever, nbd, just thought was a little cash grabby.
Anyway, now when the pandemic was allowed to let people work out indoors, but you would have to wear a mask, and there will be no showers, steam room, classes, towels, etc... So basically all the reasons I pay a premium for Equinox are gone and there is no fluctuation in their price to help their customer base. It's basically a regular gym you are paying $200+ a month for.
I told them I wouldn't feel comfortable at a gym until the pandemic goes down, they said they can freeze my account for $30/month, i said no, I'd rather just cancel. They said, "fine, we will waive the freeze fee for 3 months" I said okay. Once three months was up, without any notice, they just pulled $200 from my account. I know I should have remembered or write it down, but things got busy, when I called them they said they would not be able to issue a refund, but I can freeze my account for $30/month I said no, cancel, I am not going to a gym until pandemic is over. They said again, "Okay we will waive the freeze fee for another month" I kept calling them every month to tell them I wanted out and they just kept waiving the freeze fee. This month I missed my calendar alert to tell them I wanted to cancel again, and they took $200 out of my account again. I called to get a refund and to cancel and they said they couldn't issue a refund and said I can use as credit if I want to sign up again.
This company was recently evaluated at 9 billion dollars and it wouldn't give me a $200 refund. At Equinox the customer is never right.
+++Update
the "courtesy" message from equinox below is just a bot and did absolutely nothing to solve my problem, I emailed them like they requested and they never contacted me. Happy I moved on.

Was a loyal customer prepandemic, spent thousands on membership and personal training throughout 2020. Equinox went into lockdown and froze everyone’s accounts. When they opened back up in March 2021, I assumed that would mean they would reopen my account when I came back, you know when I check in, when I feel comfortable going to a gym during a pandemic. I didn’t see the email about them reopening bc I put my gym messages in my non-business email account. Then one day I’m checking my bank account and I see I have a bunch of charges, not only would they not refund me for the months I didn’t use to retain me as a member, but now I have a collection agency calling me and messing up my credit score because I had my debit card stolen so Equinox was only able to charge me for 1 month $380!! They thought 1 email was enough to make sure their members knew they were opening back up. So I have a huge multimillion mega-corporation messing up my credit score. The general manager Eric Garcia was no help, I told him I would come back to the gym but I needed him to get the collection agency off my back and he said “ sounds like a personal problem.” Real nice guy!

Update- Feb 22 - they honored their policy and cancelled membership so I’m updating rating to 3 stars. Deceptive. Stay away
Pros - clean facilities
High end toiletries.
Cons - deceptive membership terms - they’ ll lure you in promising that you can cancel your membership should you move or if your circumstances change, but it is a major pain to actually cancel.
The membership contract is contrary to CA Civil Code in many of its provisions.
Extremely overcrowded, especially, during peak hours. You actually have to wait your turn for some space to change at the locker room, not to mention the workout equipment.
limited parking- you get 2 hours validated parking, but if you exceed this limit be prepared to pay dearly- $3 every 15 minutes. I’ve paid $6 for 20 minutes overtime. No serious workout can last under 2 hours.
Limited machines selection- compared to other clubs the selection of machines is extremely limited and they are poorly laid out - you have to go from floor to floor to complete your workout
The pool is small and outdated.
And finally the hours of operation- I guess, I’m spoiled by 24/7 operation at lifetime fitness. This gym closes at 10 on weekdays and even earlier on weekends. Showers close half hour prior. All of this makes the workout routine inconvenient.
Overall, not worth the price. If LA gym scene was truly competitive, especially in the higher class segment, this chain would be out of business.

One of LA's first equinoxs gets annual makeovers and frequent equipment updates. Lots of turn over from group fitness instructors but there is almost always a class going on.

This gym has a great cafe on the lower level that even includes a whole coconut! It is very clean and there's also a shop that sells fitness clothing and accessories. The staff members are very welcoming. The place gets crowded after work hours as it draws in professionals but you won't have to wait for a treadmill at all. The steam room is great and comes with your membership. The spa does not however. There is also a small two lane swimming pool that can fit four people at one time.

Great gym, great staff, great clientele. I honestly don't see myself in any other other gym, and I've seen a lot! Not the cheapest place in town but there's a 7 letter reason for that: QUALITY.
Would easily have given 5 stars if they had a basketball court.

I think my friend said it best, "If you're paying for it, you're gonna use it."
YES, $170 a month seems like a lot of money, but seriously guys--it's totally worth it. Coming from 24 Hour Fitness (the "Wal-Mart" of gyms, as I say), the difference is night and day. I'm actually kind of regretful that I didn't join sooner.
Although I still keep my 24 Hour membership (I only pay $20 a YEAR for it, it's my homeless insurance plan), I haven't been there in over two years now, because there's no reason to.
For me, the clean white towels were what put me over the line (and now, they have chilled towels soaked in Eucalyptus water too!). From the friendly staff members to the abundance of machines, it's really hard to find an excuse NOT to go to the gym. Yes, I'm paying 80x more for the gym than I used to, but I'm actually using my membership now--which if you do the math on a "per visit" basis, it's totally worthwhile.
I'm not big on the classes, have taken a few (I always feel kinda weird being one of like 3 guys in them), but if you do, you're definitely getting a great deal for your dollar. And again, an endless amount of fresh white towels!
Did I mention the fresh white towels??!!

It's a great gym! It really pushed my routine to a new level. I've always done the group classes because I like to be motivated by a other people, and by taking these classes at Equinox, I've learned routines I never seen before. The classes work well around my work schedule, and you can tell they were assigned for that purpose.
Jonathan Meshekow did a great job showing me around, and was very knowledgeable of the new equipment I've never even heard of (I guess he could have said anything and I would have just nodded the whole time LOL)
The bathrooms are great, and not too crowded. They're so clean, that it's almost mandatory to shower there! Have not seen the women's, so I can't say the reviews are false; but I can tell you that the men's shower is no problem - plenty of room to do make up! LOL.
One thing that bothered me is the Juice Bar (Earth Bar) - not sure if it's its own business, but since it's in Equinox, I'll say it here! After my work out and shower (of course), I went to get my shake. It was exactly 01:58pm when I got my receipt. Happy hour is from 02:00pm-04:00pm... I was wondering why a guy was sitting waiting, then got up to get a shake himself. I then remember a few days before that they told me it was happy hour, after I mention of how affordable the drink was. This time, I notice it was regular price! I don't mind paying for the drink at regular price, but I would have appreciated if they told me to wait 2 minutes, so I can take advantage of the discounted price. I know it's a business, but COSTUMER SERVICE is key!
I would have given a higher rate, but because of this...
