I had a terrible experience with this LA area gym. The membership fees are steep, the location is inconvenient, and the overall atmosphere and vibe at Essers of LA feels tight, small and unimpressive. In comparison, Equinox is more expensive, but you get what you pay for—offering a more comfortable and well‑situated experience.

Worst gym I've ever been to in LA. One of the male personal trainers kept flirting and hitting on me the entire time. As a woman it made me feel very uncomfortable. Essers of LA is an unwelcoming place.

I love working out at Essers! They’ve built an amazing community, and it’s such a joy to work out with all of the coaches. I’d highly recommend checking them out if you’re looking to start working out at an amazing gym! It’s also great for people who are starting out/starting back up again.

Culver City’s best kept secret! Doesn't look like much when you walk past but it's a totally different story when you walk in. Every coach is experienced, knowledgeable, friendly and detail-oriented. I highly recommend if you're looking to transform your life and have accountability.
I was coached by Jimmy and he's the absolute best! Each athlete gets a personalized workout based on our goals. Jimmy strikes the perfect balance of being hands on without micromanaging. He's been encouraging and kind through all of my training. I have a tendency of moving too fast and got to learn the basics of technique and form in strength training.

My 14 year old daughter, who is a high level competitive lacrosse player, has trained with Essers over the last four months in preparation for her East Coast club summer season.
Coaches Jimmy and Macty (and indeed all of the trainers at Essers), were amazing and helped my daughter gain strength, power and confidence in her physicality which has had a noticeably positive impact upon her on-field performance.
Essers was the right fit for a serious and committed athlete such as my daughter and we will most certainly re-engage upon our return from the summer season so that she might continue her training and development.

Absolutely LOVE Essers and their AMAZING trainers. Definitely one of the highlights of my day. Everyone is super friendly and supportive. You'll actually enjoy coming to sweat and be excited to see the progress with individualized programs setup for your needs. Personally, I've come a long way in my 4 months of training with Essers. I've noticed my strength and energy increase, and my body composition start to shift. It's pretty amazing. Highly recommend Essers to anyone at any fitness level!

Essers is a true gem. The spirt of the Cross-fit, with the personalized attention of concierge-level physical training. Functional fitness is my kind of philosophy --- mobility, stability, strength, flexibility leads to dynamic health. No matter what shape you're in when you start.
My goal when I joined Essers was simply to become "average" -- I had a bunch of injuries and physical hangups when I first joined. Essers helped me blast through all those mental hangups, in a way where I always felt safe, supported, motivated, and having fun. I hope Kasey, Macty, and Sannam, franchise their model and take it global. It's that good. In the meantime, I'm grateful to live in Culver City close-by. Though admittedly, since COVID, they adapted to Zoom video 1on1 sessions and it has worked great in this new reality. Equally can't wait to get back to the studio when the world opens up. These folks are the real deal, class act all the way.

Outstanding personal training. They take care of you no matter what level you're at. They seem to cater especially to people who are intimidated by big group classes.

At 26 I've been lifting for over 10 years, first for sports in high school then as a favorite hobby in college and beyond. Working long hours in NYC and LA at a desk for 4 years, combined with tearing my psoas and Achilles tendon in the span of a few months, finally got to me and I was resigned to feeling physically terrible and never being athletic again. I'd always felt physical fitness would be a passion for life but the process was now no longer fun and easy.
On the recommendation of a coworker, I decided to check out Essers after committing to recovery. After 3 months of working with Kasey and Macty I've seen insane progress, both in the mirror and my performance/everyday movement, and for the first time in 2 years felt hopeful about being able to regain what I'd lost.
I had always hated on trainers, using them once or twice briefly in the past when I had a trial and found the benefits usually to not be worth the cost. The complete opposite is true at Essers. The intake form, interview, goal setting and progressive workout schedule are all extremely detailed and personalized, and the gym has the equipment necessary for nearly any type of training. The mandatory 3x/week sessions are also great to keep you from losing momentum rather then being able to schedule and cancel on a whim if you don't feel like showing up.
Can't recommend a better place to train or be around people who truly care about helping others improve and let it show so clearly through their actions.

As a lifelong competitive athlete, certified personal trainer, and a professional self-defense instructor, I know the fitness world intimately. I've seen the worst of the worst, and I've worked with some of the best in the country. Living in Los Angeles I have lots of choices of where I want to train and who I want to trust to train with, but I only choose Essers. Essers of Los Angeles is not a regular gym; it's a facility for personal health and wellness betterment. The coaches are extremely knowledgable and professional and are truly invested in providing each of their clients the tools they need to achieve the highest level of success. Whether you're a seasoned athlete, or at the very beginning of your journey, the Essers team will meet you where you are, craft a thoughtful and comprehensive plan to help you reach your goals, and then execute that plan with you in a safe, encouraging, motivating, and ego-free environment.

Love Essers! I've had the privelege of working out with some great trainers at great facilities in my life, but this has been the best for a few reasons: 1) They are not just trainers but coaches, meaning that your workouts are not just physical, but about pushing yourself mentally, physically, emotionally, in order to grow and achieve goals in and outside the gym! They truly walk the walk and encourage others to live a healthy lifestyle, learn new skills, and constantly grow. 2) I workout with Tilita mainly and she has SO MUCH knowledge of nutrition, running, strength, physiology, and all kinds of things, so every workout is truly customized to help me with my personal goals and account for what my body needs. Love that! 3) the community here is awesome. Kasey, Macty, and Tilita are all friendly and welcoming to everyone, while sometimes dosing out the tough love 😹 and it really shows in the group of people that work out here. It's always challenging but fun to be there!

I have been training with Kasey for over 2 years and he is the best out there. I quit Equinox to join this facility and couldn't be happier - it is a great place to work out with a high energy vibe and serious, committed athletes - I love the small group training which is personalized to me but also gives a feeling of community and (friendly) competition.
Highly recommend! Come check it out, bet you quit your gym!
