I’m extremely disappointed with how this gym continues to impact our neighborhood. Rather than providing adequate parking for their members, they’ve turned the public park’s limited parking across the street into their unofficial overflow lot. This pushes out local families, blocks access, increases traffic near children, and creates unnecessary safety risks.

Last weekend was a perfect example. Families attending a youth soccer tournament couldn’t find parking because gym members had filled up the park’s lot. Parents were forced to park farther away and walk with kids and equipment. One parent even saw a handicap space being taken by an individual that immediately went across the street to the gym. We have been collecting video of these people doing this and not using the park so hopefully action can be taken.

What makes this even more frustrating is the lack of sensitivity toward the community that actually lives here. This park is a central space for our largely Hispanic neighborhood, yet it’s being overwhelmed by mostly white gym members who are encouraged to treat it like their private facility’s parking extension. It feels like another example of outside businesses benefiting at the expense of the culture and people who call this area home.

Public parks should serve the surrounding residents first — not be absorbed by private profit. I hope management steps up, takes responsibility, and respects the community they’re operating in. Until they do, it’s hard to support a business that refuses to respect the neighborhood around it.

This gym has a great community vibe and offers amazing value for the price. It features both indoor and outdoor weight / cardio areas, plus a yoga room and a high-intensity workout room with boxing equipment. The space can get a little tight around the machines at peak times, but there’s always room to get a solid workout in. Parking is tight but you can usually park in the green public park across the street. The dry sauna is a perfect way to relax and recover afterward. This is a female friendly gym which is worth noting because in my experience many are not. People are nice. I definitely recommend this place!

I love this gym. Reading comments below are really disappointing. Yes parking is limited in their lot but the park across the street has more than enough spaces even on a Saturday! Everyone I’ve met here has been incredibly respectful and supportive. I love being able to use their outdoor area and even started working with one of their trainers. Their huge sauna is enough of a reason to join. We need to be thankful for what we can in 2025 and this gym is one of those reasons lol. Super happy to have this safe space in the area ❤️

I am a member of this gym and wanted to address the lack of maintenance on the treadmills and refusal to replace permanently broken machines.

For example the treadmill that has no ability to incline has been this way for over a year - closer to two. I flagged it with the front desk staff months ago, and a repairman looked at it one time as far as I know, but the problem persists. Placing a sticky note on the treadmill does not solve anything.

If the proper measure is to replace the treadmill, then that should happen.

Additionally, the treadmill next to the stairmaster has had a repair in progress sign on it for a week. I understand a day or two, but a week?

It feels like Everybody is cutting costs (evident in the Sparkletts machine being removed from outside), but we as members of the gym shouldn’t suffer because of these poor choices.

I have been coming here for about six months now and working with one of the personal trainers, Sonny, throughout that time. I was hesitant about joining the gym because of a lot of the negative reviews but glad I gave it a chance anyway. My partner and I have had a very positive experiences as a members and find the staff to be really sweet. All the other members are very respectful and friendly. At the end of the day every queer space is ultimately what we choose to make of it and I think a lot of the negative comments seem blown out of proportion and a little dramatic. The only real negative about the gym is the parking situation, but alas it’s LA and there’s always parking to be found around the block. I recommend this gym highly and recommend Sonny to anyone seeking a personal trainer!

I love this gym!!! My only complaint is the lack of bench press setups is truly painful. Not to quote Hilary Duff in A Cinderella Story but, “Waiting to bench at this gym is like waiting for rain in this drought…”

I'm not a gym person and wanted to give this a chance after going to the swim event at Occidental College last summer.

Pretty white and CIS presenting 🚩As an actual transwoman of color born and raised in NELA -- I didn't see it reflected at the gym and that's disappointing.

Didn't see any black folks either🚩🚩

I'm sure your intentions are good, but looking at the other low-rated reviews I'm clearly not the only one who has noticed this. And it's a bad look to come after people in your responses (yikes!) Definitely closes the door on coming back after seeing that level of pettiness 😕

I love this place. It's a friendly neighborhood gym where everyone is welcome! I've been to many other gyms where guys stared at me and made me feel uncomfortable being there. None of that here. Love that half the gym is outside too, it's so nice.

I absolutely love this gym and have been a member for about 2 years. I feel so comfortable and uninhibited. The membership fee is ridiculously affordable and reasonable for the vibes and community that you get! My favorite part is that I routinely see other queers here - like it’s rare for me to NOT run into a friend or neighbor. Thank you so much for everything 💞

Inclusive in Name Only – A Disappointing Facade

If you're looking for a gym that claims to champion inclusivity while doing the bare minimum to actually make people feel welcome, then congratulations — you've found it!

I walked into this gym hoping to experience a space where everyone genuinely felt accepted and supported, as my neurodivergence makes it incredibly difficult to be inside larger, mainstream gyms I've tried. Instead, I encountered a hollow marketing ploy wrapped in buzzwords. Sure, they have posters of diverse people on the walls and a couple of rainbow stickers slapped on the entrance, but that's where their effort stops.

The staff? Tone-deaf at best, patronizing at worst. I overheard a staff member repeatedly misgendering a member and shrugging it off with, “It’s just too confusing to keep up!” And the so-called “accessible” equipment? A single dusty yoga mat tucked in a corner does not equate to inclusivity. The gym floor is uneven, cramped, poorly laid out, and clearly designed for only the most able-bodied members.

The culture? Let’s just say if you don't fit the aesthetic, be prepared for judgmental stares and unsolicited advice from people who somehow think “inclusive” means “anyone I can shame into fitting my mold.” They assumed to know my identity consistently in their self-righteousness. If you get triggered by the staff repeatedly being hostile towards you (something that's a common theme amongst other reviewers), then you are "aggressive."

This gym's idea of inclusivity is performative, shallow, and offensive. Instead of investing in real changes — like proper accessibility measures, staff training on disabilities, or safer spaces for beginners — they've poured their energy into slogans and window dressing.

If you want a gym that truly respects all bodies, look elsewhere. This place needs to understand that inclusivity isn't a trend or a box to check off — it's a commitment to every single person who walks through the door.

They need to do better

I have been going to this gym for years now. things i like: the outdoor workout space, the sauna, the classes, the diverse machines. Things I didn’t like: the attitude. The front desk staff felt similar to approaching the mean-girl table at a high school cafeteria. Reactivating my membership was the most dismissive and unhelpful experience. I felt truly unwelcome, specifically by the person with the red hair named Jamie handling my membership. This person was incredibly disrespectful to a confusing degree. As a latinx nonbinary person walking into a QUEER gym, i was not expecting that kind of treatment. It had me questioning: why does a queer gym that is built on being for “everyone” feel so non-inclusive and hostile?

I always give people the benefit of the doubt—I thought to myself, maybe Jamie was having a bad day? Maybe this person has a personal vendetta against me that I am not aware of? I don’t know, I really racked my brain for weeks to try to come up with a reason for why I was talked down to like that—but me and this person had no connecting thread. After discussing the interaction with other members, I learned that this is the tone at Everybody—it is well known. I was so disappointed and thrown off by the interaction, that every time I use the gym, I find myself on edge when passing by this person in particular.

I hope that Everybody will implement a more friendly team attitude, or maybe take care to train their staff to be more accommodating. I fear that if this continues, the gym will see their membership dropping. I was hoping Everybody would feel like a safe community space but for me, but I’d rather work out in my friend’s garage? sad to say this about a queer space, but my feelings are sincere. I don’t have the capacity to deal with drama imposed on me by people I don’t know personally—in 2024 who has time for that? I just come to run on the treadmill and lift some weights, I come in peace and keep to myself.

it's really disappointing when places preach diversity and inclusion but really just mean gay and white. i was infuriated after spending an hour there and being the only black person in the room besides a picture of a black yoga instructor in their LA Times cover feature.

i give them two stars because the facility is nice, small but comfortable, the outside is cute and they offered a week of free services after Trump's election to foster community. i really support those ideas. i would've considered a membership but yall gotta do better. make an effort to actually bring "everybody" there.

Not a family-friendly establishment. No family memberships, and no option to allow my son to work out here.

Since this gym is a quick walk or bike ride from my house, I got my eldest son a membership here, but hated it, so he joined 24 hour fitness instead.

I asked him today to take his younger brother to EVERYBODY, despite not liking it, so that my younger son could get acquainted with it and commit to a workout routine inspired by his big brother before he leaves for Europe and then college.

My eldest son ended up taking him to 24 hour fitness as his guest, where I signed him in, gave my information as his parent, and it was as easy as that.

This is another one of those establishments that wave their “inclusivity” flag by claiming to support all body types, races, religions, gender identities, sexual orientations, and any other hip social issue of the moment, but can’t even figure out how to include the kid up the street who wants to keep his body strong and healthy.

Between the high membership cost, the lack of family support, zero parking, terrible classes, and sub-par facilities, I give this place zero stars.

**replying to the owners response to this review***

I can appreciate your stance on not allowing babies, and not being able to accommodate childcare. My son is a 5’10” teenager with an adult-size body that needs exercise, not a toddler trying to hang from gym equipment or throw food all over the floor.
It seems like reasonably supporting families in the neighborhood might include offering family memberships and allowing a parent to sign off on their teenager biking to the gym to work out.

I would not go to the gym if not for Everybody. Full stop. I tried other gyms and always felt super uncomfortable as a visibly queer plus-sized person.

This is by far my favorite gym in L.A. It's well equipped, it's inclusive, and the community is generally very kind. One day I left my ring on the edge of the bathroom sink, then came back the next day to find that someone brought it to the front desk! Good vibes all around.

a friend recommended this place to me, who had heard about it from their friend. as genderqueer/trans people we all have had great experiences, it's nice to be in a non judgemental space. regular "straight" gyms have a pretty.... unwelcoming vibe for queer people. this place has just one locker room/changing room for everybody (no need to decide between two and feel awkward either way!!) and also a private changing room if you're shy. there are two showers, each with closed doors. the gym itself is relatively small and can get packed during popular times, especially weekday afternoons/evenings, but not excessively overcrowded. the music level is always good too, loud enough to hear without headphones but quiet enough to be drowned out with your own music! lol. everyone here is very respectful and they don't make excessive noise like at regular gyms (where cis guys will just straight up be hollering sometimes for like no reason). they have disinfectant bottles you carry around with you to spray down any equipment before/after you use it. overall a great vibe. definitely go here if you're trans. it's worth paying more for than a regular gym, tbh.

Here's the thing: I want to love this gym, but it's disappointing in a lot of departments. I've been a member for 6 months; Everybody is "just okay" for now. With a little effort this could be a fantastic gym.

The most frustrating thing is they don't take or implement feedback. My partner had a bad interaction with staff when trying to give helpful feedback, and other members I've spoken to have indicated that Everybody did not make any changes based on their comments.

PROS: Clean, Mostly friendly staff, Trans and Enby Inclusive. They will never talk about your body here or bother you for any reason. The mission statement of this gym is wonderful. The outdoor area is great to work out in. I appreciate the nice showers and sauna. Gym equipment is adequate for most needs. A few teachers offer quality and engaging classes. The catering place next door smells like delicious pizza all the time. Members are nice and many wear masks.

CONS:
Classes are minimal. Probably an average of 2 classes per day, but NONE on Saturdays or Sundays. 90% of classes are in the evening 5pm or later. No classes before 10am. Teachers are paid per student, which is a disappointing policy. I can see why there are so few classes. I signed up here because of the surfing classes, community outings, and regular gym classes that the staff pitched me on. After 6 months of being a member, they have NEVER had a surfing class or community activity outside the gym. Gym classes are minimal.

Equipment. A lot of the gym equipment is old and was likely purchased used. Every time I'm in the gym 2-5 machines are out of order. They are usually fixed in a timely manner though. Within 1-3 days. They have 20+ spin bikes, but only one Stair Stepper (which is often broken). There is likely only one machine or equipment for that muscle group, often resulting in waiting time.

Their COVID policies are unfortunately about 2 years outdated. I'd like to see them focus on community health and safety.

Staff is overall friendly, but not especially knowledgeable if you ask them for assistance. They have a very high rate of turnover and you see new people at the front desk every week. There are further signs that this business treats its employees poorly. It's a worrisome trend.

Source: Google

Luka Stemberger

★ 2

The gym itself is ok.
What is horrible is that it's constantly freezing. Both winter and summer time, I'm on the verge of having muscle cramps and it's extremely uncomfortable. Huge fans are constantly making it drafty, even in the outdoor section which is especially ridiculous. Did they not research about health and safety?? Every releavant source says it needs to be around 70°F in workout areas.
I still go there because it's sadly the only gym in the area.
The sauna is an afterthought, so don't join if that's what you're after. Only one person allowed at a time, need I say more...

I'm incredibly grateful to have found this gym offering amazing virtual classes with friendly and informative instructors and a terrific indoor and outdoor setup. I hadn't worked out since surgery 2 and a half years ago and I struggled to jump back into working out. Being quarantined gave me the chance to look at exciting new opportunities to join virtual workout classes when it was inaccessible to me before. I LOVE every single instructor and every class (Yoga, tai chi, barre, strength, Zumba, etc.). I have enjoyed being able to get to know the instructors and following the Instagram these past few months because EVERYBODY brings me lots of joy!

Even though I'm located in San Francisco and joined during the pandemic, I've been able to visit in person when I've visited Los Angeles and their gym setup is incredible! I rented the space for myself and seriously wished I lived in LA just got this space!!

I had no sense of a welcoming environment, the place feels like it is actively gentrifying the area (yes I know they have lower costs than some spots, that's a common retort by gentrifiers). Stopped going because the parking brought into the neighborhood by this place was an issue for nearby businesses, even with a city park across the street where the gym tells guests to park. Also, the very nearby bakeries smell so strong you can't workout here anyway. Too much to reconcile with a place supposedly based on 'community'--can't do that and gentrify at the same time.

I had membership for a month and frankly only visited for a couple of days until I heard from a friend of a friend that the owners do not treat their employees well at all.

From their site:
"EVERYBODY is commited to creating a radically inclusive culture for all bodies to move, strengthen, and heal.We believe that health and wellness should be accessible, affordable and adaptive to all people regardless of their gender, race, age, size, or ability."

"Radically inclusive culture?" If this is true, then the owners and those complicit, need to be hold themselves ACCOUNTABLE.. Otherwise I'm working out in a small space with a bunch of hwite liberals who co-op radical terminology and theory WITH NO PRAXIS and make me feel uncomfortable... yet they claim the word "radical"?

from that allure article:
'"Given today’s rampant pinkwashing, Rypinski, too, acknowledges that progressiveness requires more than just words. As such, he has prioritized putting the gym’s principles into practice. The gym’s staff attends accessibility orientations and enforces a zero tolerance policy when it comes to discrimination of any kind. “I recommit to us living up to our values all the time,” Rypinski says. “The last thing I want is for this to seem like a brand that just capitalizes on inclusivity without actually making that a daily practice."'

^I beg to disagree, and the above IS just words. Just because you identify with a community and you're taking part in an "inclusive" LGBTQIA space, still means you can take advantage of QTPOC folks and use them as tokens to fulfill your "inclusivity". The owners (sam and lake) indicate that being QT does not excuse them from their racism, the power sam still holds as a white man, their power as white owners in a historically brown neighborhood (re: gentrification), and their exploitation of workers and their lack of unaccountability.

I urge gym-goers to be critical on where you invest your time and money. If you love it there and continue to put your money there, by all means please do- and PLEASE also take the time to question the owners and hold accountability processes for them because what they continue to do without addressing their abuse is not ok!!

I've been silently boycotting this gym and urge others to speak out on whatever discomfort or critique that have with the space and with the owners.
