After going here on and off for years since I was a kid I got a membership for my son and I for the last two years. Of which I had used the gym all of two times. Apparently my card on file had expired. I was never contacted and ultimately our membership was terminated. My son went to use the gym and was denied access. So I called and the owner Clark. He lied and said he called every monthβ¦not my cell! Rather than keep our business and start fresh and keep the business of at least my son who used the gym minimally, he wanted me to back pay $900. I will be taking my business next door to him and I hope everyone else does the same!

Unpretentious. Come here to lift, cardio and stretch. Get fit, this is all you need at a fair price.

You canβt find a better gym than this in terms of community and decorum. Despite being an outsider or my first time, I feel like family. People are overly respectful here. I haven't experienced that for years. There's nothing like starting your day here and going back into the world. Thanks for the experience.
The gym has everything you need, and the dry sauna is possibly the best in California. The heat is perfect for sweating out the toxins.

I love this place. Yes, it is certainly old school; however, this does not stop you having a great workout. Excellent selection of weights.

Old school with everything you need to get in a good workout. I'm in town for a few weeks and got the monthly rate ($70) which is a steal compared to the other places nearby. FYI drop-in rate is $10, weekly is $35.

Solid old school gym vibe. Arnold photos on the wall. All the equipment you need for a serious workout. People put things back where they found them. They got a good thing going on here.

Good gym. Has all machines I needed plus a dry sauna. They have week passes which I really like. I used it while I was traveling through.

Dropped in a few times and the gym had a great amount of equipment despite being somewhat of a mid-sized gym. Front desk clerk was friendly, and it is rarely busy.

"HEALTH" Club Is it really?
Quite disappointed. Have appreciated the history and locality of the Fairfax Gym for many years but would not return even as they reopen during covid. Do I want to work out? Yes. But each time they are "open" they lack in safety knowledge/cleaning and social distancing protocol during COVID. 1) They opened prior to recommendations [2x] and club members were not wearing masks or social distancing. 2) Zero signage on how to clean equipment; employee's not wearing face masks. 2) Employee's lacking skills and knowledge on safety policies and procedures 4) Finally, no communications on billing/memberships; we received a monthly charge after not being charged for several months.
Typically, a fitness club is classified within the Health industry. Far from it for this facility.

I love this gym. i have been seriously training since 1969 and this place is the real deal. It is almost a shame to talk about it cause it is Marin County's best kept secret. It's a townie gym. Ladies welcome of course actually anyone. You now it is Fairfax CA and they threw away the key...
Please open it again! What can your loyal members do help open it again?

My main gym is in the city where I work. But this place works for me on the days I don't go into the city yet need to lift. Drop in rate is the cheapist in the county, $10. It's a local gym stuck in a previous decade The equipment is dated but still relevant. There is a sizable free weights section,
tiny squat rack, machine section, cardio (treadmills) facing large screens displaying sports or news, and a wood floor "room" with TRX. Note that this gym is not very big so with more than 5 people in each section and it can feel crowded. There are male and female changing rooms with toilets and showers. Oddly, .no available lockers. There is a dry sauna closet. And a washer and dryer (?) So apparently some members get towel service. I list all these details because there is NO website to tell you any of this. Cleanliness? It's not fanatically clean like the Kentfield gym was (tears! RIP!) But it is not neglected either. The audio soundtrack is classic rock. The decor is SF Giants themed. There is no one to pitching memberships offers or selling you supplements. Just one dude at the front desk, and a few pamphlets. I would give it 3.5 stars but that isn't an option.

The old guy with the white mustache that closes on sundays is a total a-hole. If I was the owner I would fire him immediately because he makes working out there extremely unpleasant. Other than that itβs a nice place.
