Fun bouldering gym. Monthly price is worth it when youβre able to get in a good couple sessions per week. Some free weights as well. Great energy, welcoming and good for beginners or advanced climbers. Friendly staff with shoes and chalk available to rent if needed. New routes put up pretty consistently at a variety of difficulties π€

This place is great. Only climbing gym near me, but that doesnβt matter because this one is all I need! My high school goes here for PE 2x a week usually (no school gym) so all the freshmen and sophomores have memberships we can use whenever. Lots of both easy and hard boulders (no roped climbing). You can start out with a bunch of V0s (right now there is a pink one that is especially easy) and there are 2 V10s as of the moment. One complaint is that all the holds are covered in chalk. Extra amenities include weight room, kilter board, and treadwall.

Love this! I didn't even realize we had a wall climbing venue like this in Humboldt. The grandkids saw it and we HAD to go! So much fun.

Back again, noticed they spacing of the routes was more. Nice to not worrying about banging into holds. Went around midday and was pretty warm inside. Definitely wearing lighter clothes next time. Still fun and reasonable priced. Thanks to the staff and setters!

Little climbing gym in Arcata. Climbed with my daughter for the morning, and went for a walk down the street at the marshes. Very well maintained and with some neat accessories for the size of it.

This is a great bouldering gym. They frequently change the routes and their staff is consistently friendly and helpful. They have added a wall that manually inverts and lights up various pathways based on a phone app. They have also added a wall that continually moves as you climb, slightly like a safe hamsterwheel for climbers. The weight room in the back has a great selection too. I've brought several friends here and they have all gotten memberships since it is a great experience.

It might be the only public climbing wall for a long way but I don't know of many that could compete with the atmosphere present here. Some of the nicest people you'll ever meet and some routes that will challenge any climber, regardless of your skill level.

The climbing and route setting is really good. It's a true, no-frills bouldering gym! Love this place. My only complaints are that they could reset routes a little more often, and could definitely do some vacuuming.

The grading was really hard but unique bouldering. The routesetters do a really really good job. Although the cleanliness was kind of a negative while traveling through and stopping here. Felt like a teenagers spot, reeked like weed in there and bathrooms were pretty dirty. Not a good vibe, but great climbing.

The only climbing gym in Humboldt other than the rec center at the University (that I know of). The staff have made some big improvements since the last time I was there. They've gone back to the standard boulder ratings. They opened a new space in the back and added a Kilter board and are soon going to get a Moon board and Tension board. The pads were in good shape, the staff were very friendly, and the price was reasonable for a drop-in. They also let us bring our little ones (under 4) in for free. Also to note, while everywhere else is increasing their prices, they actually lowered their monthly membership! Thank you on behalf of the community!

Great movement on these routes. The style is much different than my home gym, and the routes climb 2 grades harder for the rating. I wish I could climb here all the time.

I climb in the SF bay and found this gym to be very satisfyingly set in the v6-8 range, with more complexity in many of the routes and more varied wall shapes. Where my usual gyms increase difficulty by making bigger launches with tinier edges, many of the routes here used heavy tension and compression that I rarely get to flex otherwise. Would love to have a magical portal to Arcata so I could climb here more often.

Dope! Was driving back down South during my solo expedition up North through the Redwood State and National Park when I planned to stop by and climb at this little nook. Manager with the cute dog Tofu greeted me and got me in for a day pass (15$) and had me a great time! Thanks for the good vibes and letting me cook my cheese quesadilla and watch my Netflix out in the gym parking lot without feeling like a bum hahaha

I love this gym. I mostly do bouldering rather than traditional rope climbing, and this gym is definitely geared towards bouldering. Lots of routes, tons of differently shaped walls, and a staff who knows how to challenge climbers with hard problems.

Best (and only to my knowledge) climbing gym in Humboldt. You can tell the folks that run and maintain it have a focus on coming up with interesting climbing challenges & building community.
My only critique is that thereβs sort of a steep learning curve and not much explanation once you get there, so beginners might want to read up on climbing gyms and bouldering before going.
It seemed last time that more of the challenges were geared towards experienced folks over newbies, but in fairness they were also redoing two walls :)

I became really interested in climbing after watching some of the recent Netflix documentaries. I signed up as a monthly re-occurring member here for $60 a month despite the expensive $45 initiation fee. After 2 months, I realized with my busy schedule that I was unable to come often enough to make it worth the monthly dues, and tried to freeze my account and only do drop-ins for $15 until my schedule opened up. I was told if I freeze my account, I could not do drop-ins. I still wanted to climb on occasion, I decided to cancel my membership (which seems a little backwards). The next month, on my bank statement, I noticed a $50 charge. When I called in to question it, I was told it was in the contract I signed when I started autopay (first time I've heard of this). So, for two months, I ended up paying $215 for membership fees. Contract or not, I think this is a dumb method of "retaining customers". Although I still enjoy climbing, I don't want to support this business anymore. Not only did this company lose my future business, but the friends I had recruited as well. Greedy.

I actually have not been in here but was interested in starting at this gym because I believe it's the only one near me. I looked at their website for pricing, and it doesn't even make sense. $50 a month or $165 for three months? Plus a $50 initiation fee? I noticed that couples climbing memberships are only $75 so in a way it is discrimination against those who are not "married," (and yes it says "married" on their website. Not only that but their location, e-mail, and phone number aren't listed on their website. Based on all of this, I will not be going and I haven't even set foot in there.

A lot of bouldering routes. They change them up fairly often. Not really any top rope climbing. A lot of people being their kids here, which can be quite frustrating as the parents often do a poor job of making sure their kids don't run directly underneath people climbing. Friendly staff.

Short version:
- Friendly staff
- Friendly, laid back atmosphere
- Good problems, whether you are a beginner or a mutant you'll be challenged
- Reasonable pricing
- Lacks drinking fountain (bring your own water)
Long version:
Edited from eleven months ago.
This gym feels more like a professionally-run establishment.
The problems I mentioned last year with setting have improved. There is more natural progression and less of a wall between beginning/intermediate, and advanced/mutant climbers.
There is now a yoga area in the gym and weekly classes. A great addition. I think classes are Tue/Thurs at 5 p.m.
Some things that would make this place five stars:
A drinking fountain/tap spout
Earlier opening time
More staff, especially at peak hours
This may be a pipe dream, but some gym swag (e.g. competition shirts)

Great gyn! Always getting better. And well thought out routes. But I have been denied access. #4 times this year due to changing of rroutes and competition events. I does not it it it not possible to get gym time as a member for a month. Without being shut out for a couple days a month. Why not change the routes on off hours and post a large calander of events at front desk. I'm not going to call or look up a Web site every time.
