Love this gym and all it has to offer! This is the first gym I’ve felt fully comfortable and supported at!
I also had an amazing time training with Justin for my first ever personal training experience. He was encouraging and respectfully challenging, took a very educated and personalized approach, and I looked forward to every session training with him!

I’ve been a member for a few years- the membership is pricey but if you can budget for it; it is worth it. The equipment is well-maintained, and fixed or replaced quickly, the bathrooms are also clean with plenty of amenities. The gym is also always staffed with personal trainers who are available for quick questions or help. I’ve been training with Justin Hebert for a while and I can’t recommend him enough. He is knowledgeable about nutrition and fitness with just the right amount of encouragement. He’s also conscious of realistic goals (meaning he takes into account your job, family commitments, etc), you won’t feel disappointed with your gains if you work with Justin!

Awesome spot. Have everything that you need and never too crowded. Been working with Justin for his personal training for a couple years now. He’s been fantastic. Always supportive, flexible with scheduling and the accountability is what it’s all about. I’ve had great gains and been able to continue them since I started working with him. Would recommend it to everyone!

Justin Hebert at FIT Little Italy is Great! He knows his stuff. Motivated me to 'Just Start' then build from that. Once I booked and had an appointment it made it easier to show up and get guided through the appropriate exercises. Thanks Justin!!

Nice gym. I particularly liked the outside area. Trained with Justin and really appreciated his knowledge, the way he explained the exercises, and the ways he helped me with my form. Would recommend.

I can’t recommend Justin as a personal trainer enough! He really helped me understand proper form and made me feel confident trying equipment I’d never used before. I walked away with new knowledge and techniques that I now use in every workout.

Cannot rave about Fit Little Italy enough! I’ve done personal training with Justin over the course of two years and I never thought I would enjoy working out until I started working with him. He’s clearly VERY knowledgeable and was able to work with me and my previous injuries and health concerns. He adjusted to fit my needs flawlessly and got me feeling STRONG for the first time in my adult life. Outside of that the staff in general are extremely friendly, I used to always think the gym was a scary place but the front desk, manager and other trainers always say hello. Truly feels like a COMMUNITY and not just a place to work out!

Some instructors have a hard time giving instructions and blame it on the students. Will change my review is the appropriate measures are taken.

I left this class really disappointed. The instructor (Emily L.) seemed uninterested and dismissive, which made the whole session uncomfortable. There was barely any focus on form or safety, and instead of being taught, it just felt like I was rushed through the movements. For how much the class cost, I expected actual guidance, but I walked out feeling like I wasted both my time and money. At other studios, instructors are engaged and supportive — this was the complete opposite.

I've been going to FIT for the past three months, and it's been a fantastic experience overall. The gym is clean, conveniently located, and has great amenities that make working out more enjoyable.
When I first inquired about getting a personal trainer, the front desk staff was super helpful and quickly set up a consultation for me. That’s when I met Tindra. Although she was newer to the team at the time, you would never have known—it was clear from the start that she’s confident, knowledgeable, and passionate about what she does.
At the time, I was 10 months postpartum and looking for a gradual, supportive way to rebuild my strength. Tindra immediately understood my goals and respected the pace I wanted to take. She even suggested incorporating assisted stretching into our sessions, which ended up making a huge difference in how I felt during and after workouts.
Tindra has made this transition back into fitness such a positive one. She brings great energy to every session and makes the gym feel like a welcoming, empowering space. I truly look forward to our weekly workouts, and that motivation has carried over into the rest of my routine.
I’m so grateful for her guidance and support, and I highly recommend both FIT and Tindra to anyone looking to feel stronger, more confident, and more at home in their fitness journey.

I used this gym as part of my stay at the Carte Hotel in San Diego (shared space, free for hotel guests). For a hotel gym, it’s a solid 5 stars! As a standalone gym, I’d give it a strong 4.5.
It’s not 24/7, unlike some hotel gyms, but the hours are reasonable and align with most commercial gyms.
The equipment selection is impressive, including equipment catered to to serious athletes with options like Jacobs Ladders, manual treadmills, various bikes, and dedicated squat and deadlift platforms. Some equipment shows slight wear but remains in good condition overall.
The locker rooms feature decent saunas and steam rooms, with convenient built-in combination locks—no need to bring your own and towel service is included.
Gym guests also get access to the hotels pool and spa and there are indoor and outdoor workout areas.
The gym is clean, and the front desk staff are friendly and welcoming.

Great facility, until it's time to break your membership.
Mitch (Little Italy Membership Coordinator) is your best buddy on signing up with Fit. He will not be that way on your way out.
Fit needs to train their staff better on customer retention.
-When you argue with a customer for their intent to cancel, for any reason, you've missed the point of your role.
-When you make false promises ("I'll refund the month we usually take from you on the way out"), you're ensuring that no one will want to ever come back, and tell all their friends that they were wrong about your gym, and to go to the competitor down the street.
-When you charge "improvement fees" and nothing really improves, you're no better than any hack city politician promising to fix roads.
-Your class trainers hijack entire areas during peak hours, while other paying members are (often aggressively) ushered out, forcing someone with a dialed-in plan to re-route their entire session.
With the volume of gyms in San Diego, at the price per month ( and year), this sort of treatment leaves little incentive to stay.
Memberships are the backbone of commercial gyms, and your front line closest to the customer shoos them away foolishly like paper into a trash can.
Do better.

The equipment is great and there’s plenty of machines and free weights. I generally workout early in the morning and doesn’t feel crowded. The amenities are nice. The pool, sauna, and steam are really nice. Staff is very friendly. One thing I wish they had was cold soaked eucalyptus face towels to use in the sauna/steam. Would be a nice added touch. Otherwise very happy working out here.

Pro- good equipment including vibration plates. New reformer classes included in monthly fee. All gym membership gives is a good deal. Shout out to Justin Hebert - excellent personal trainer. Cons - no one n the gym floors to guide you; too many instagram-focused people not very friendly; locker rooms are small, amenities like shampoo not high quality, water on floors and management refused to put mats down; sauna and steam rooms just fair. Eliminated valet parking at Little Italy location - only parking lot has homeless sleeping at the entrance sadly so it doesn’t feel safe at night especially. Equipment is starting to show wear and tear. Not what it was but still a good gym.

Really great gym! I loved how open of a space it was, compared to many gyms that can feel like a maze. High ceilings, new and modern, top tier equipment. I much prefer this location over the other one in downtown SD.
Decently busy - but not unbearable - and there was always something for me to be working out on.
I was only visiting but looks like they validate parking at a nearby lot which would be a big plus.

Regular gym member here for roughly 2.5 years who just cancelled my membership and went to a competitor location.
BLUF: Standard globo/commercial gym that makes sense if you are a resident within walking distance.
However, gym management regularly ignored requests to address deficiencies in the gym while incrementally raising prices every year.
$75 a year "improvement fee" during my time was only seen manifesting in a third power rack being installed downstairs, and a bunch of vendors and additional "fee for service" addons (massages, chiro services, etc) being made avail.
Outdoor pool area is now completely encapsulated by a new building on the perimeter of the gym's building.
Peak hours people are working out in the lanes between equipment, causing safety hazards. Also during peak hours you have to regularly search for plates around the gym to complete your lift.
Sauna consistently below temps that make a biological impact, causing people to stay in the sauna longer and sometimes creating a waiting line and/or standing room only.
Steam room sporadically if not intermittently always having issues.
Lockers are small, space to sit down and change a struggle in peak hours.
Staff is nice and will greet you by name once you come in enough.
The gym has not been invaded with cameras and tripods, yet, which is/was a bonus.
In short, it's the basic gym charging advanced gym rates with no sustained, incremental improvements, just incremental degradation over my years going.

I started going to this gym as soon as I moved to San Diego. The biggest selling point is that I can walk there so it was a no-brainer to sign up. The walk through and sign up was seamless. While the membership fee is high, the facility and convenience are worth the cost. Even when the gym feels busy, I’m seldom waiting for a machine with four separate cable machines and ample floor space to use free weights. The sauna is excellent, and the outdoor space makes it feel super luxurious. I’ve enjoyed going to this gym so much, feels like a treat each time.
They could use more equipment for example, a hack squat machine and belt squat machine. I would like to see the annual improvement fees feel more worthwhile and I haven’t seen more equipment come into the gym during my time here.

Smelly gym. I have been to MANY gyms. This one is difficult to park at and SMELLY. The sauna is tiny and full, and stinks. The locker room is smelly and dark. I canceled my membership and they gave me a hard time and charged for an extra month. Sadly the gym options downtown are limited. The Bay Club in Carmel Valley is 100 times nicer for the same price! Equinox in Carlsbad is much more cleanly and better kept.

I’m coming from Lifetime, so I’m definitely spoiled and a gym snob. Although, Fit is a good gym if you’re wanting to avoid the terrible gyms making up the majority of options in SD. It’s clean, good floor space, and machines are never out of service. One thing though: what’s up with the steam room in the men’s locker room? Super ghetto for what the gym costs, but it works, so can’t complain too much… also no q-tips lol. Overall solid gym though!

During the initial tour provided by one of their employees, I was shown the gym facilities, including the pool, and instructed on how to use it.
Unfortunately, it has come to my attention that the pool has been closed for the past month due to construction. Having worked in various Architectural firms, I understand the importance of notifying affected parties well in advance of construction projects. It seems that the information given during the tour was misleading, and the pool closure was not properly communicated. I am giving two stars due to unclear policies and a gym that was clean.

Good gym. Staff is very nice, equipment is well-maintained. There are a lot of misc benefits, events, etc. that are cool.
Only negatives: the size is smaller than I was expecting given the price and I can corroborate other reviews that the music can be insanely loud. I normally wouldn't be bothered by it, but there are times where it is competing with music from my IEM Bose earphones with active noise cancelling with the volume jacked up. It is seriously that loud sometimes. This has been a longtime complaint from what I can see so I doubt it is something they are interested in changing.

Fit Athletic is by far the best gym I have ever been a member of. All of the equipment is brand new and always kept in top shape. Everything in the gym is very clean and there are hand sanitizer stations and anti-germ wipes everywhere.
The gym itself is spacious, has multiple levels, several classy group exercise studios and three large turf areas for functional training (including one that is outside on the roof and has a great view of downtown Little Italy). This is all in addition to over 75 of the newest cardio machines on the market and a wide range of Pure Strength plate loaded machines, Technogym weight-stack equipment, and custom Fit dumbbells and barbells that you would expect at a gym.
The club has an upbeat vibe and is always playing lively music to get you through your workout. Members can frequently be seen conversing with each other, networking, and having a great time.
The locker rooms are decorated nicely, have a steam room and sauna and even have their own relaxing playlist of music. Fit members also have access to the luxurious Carte hotel rooftop pool and hot tub.
Lastly, the staff is super friendly, the personal trainers and group exercise instructors are extremely knowledgeable and everyone who works at the club is approachable and helpful if you have any questions.
I highly recommend joining Fit if you're looking for a new gym to enhance your life - you won't regret it!

Beautiful facility, really clean, everything’s great. It’s busy at usual times like most gyms. One huge complaint though. The music playing through the entire space is way too loud. I have a hard time focusing. Can’t hear myself think. If I’m listening to my own music on AirPods I have to crank the volume to drown out the house music or Rita Ora playing around me. It really makes the place a lot less enjoyable and relaxing. If you take a yoga class in the upstairs yoga studio you can still hear the music outside and it’s super distracting. Like, just turn it down. Your gym will still be young, sexy, and cool.

Since their opening in January 2020, I've joined Fit Little Italy on two (2) occasions (decided to cancel during the second COVID shutdown), so I'd consider myself to be knowledgeable about the gym. Nevertheless, despite me being a member at different times, my experience has always been the same, which is welcoming and heads above the competition. One of the greatest strengths of the gym is its amazing staff. No matter the position, everyone at Fit routinely greets you with a smile and workout towel from your immediate entrance to your sweaty exit. I always feel like I have a genuine support group that push me to keep coming back so I can meet my personal fitness goals. One staff member in particular that I'd like to shout out is Marissa at the front desk. Marissa goes out of her way to help address any questions I have about workout classes, equipment, and registering for personal trainer sessions! She's always eager to help and ensure that I have all the support I need to have a great workout. I'm really thankful for my "Fit Family."

State-of-the-art equipment and friendly staff, but go at peak hours and it's jam packed. It's been open for less than a week and I couldn't even get on a bench a few days. I've never waited in line to use an incline bench before. This is a first. Only one leg press as well - I have yet to find it available.
I don't blame them since it's a business, they want as many members as they can get, but to pay 3 times as much as any other gym, err.
Edit: since re- opening after the pandemic, equipment has been a lot easier to get on, but still need to go during off peak hours.
Also, they need a seated calf raise machine or equivalent.

Finding a new gym is hard. Finding an awesome, well-maintained and ventilated facility —in addition to an amazing staff—during a global pandemic is even harder.
Fit - Little Italy somehow managed to accomplish just that. The gym is nestled on the outskirts of the hustle and bustle of Little Italy, San Diego, located near Luma Apartments and adjacent to Carte Hotel. One of the newest additions to the Fit family, the Little Italy branch boasts two-floors of spacious workout areas, a pool and jacuzzi and an outdoor workout area.
Over the last few weeks, Fit - Little Italy has quickly become one of my favorite gyms of all time, and definitely fits the perfect definition of a neighborhood gym. The community takes care of the equipment, like re-racking and wiping down equipments after each use. What seems like a simple and polite etiquette behavior somehow feels lost at other gyms. Additionally, you can see the cleaning staff making their rounds every so often to do a deep clean.
Major shout out to Eli, Dylan, Jordan, Kiana and countless others for making what can be a scary and nerve reckoning experience—you know, like finding a brand new gym—a seamless and pleasant experience. Solid 5/5.

Gym facility is great. Pool and hot tub are constantly filthy, they don’t have anyone clean it out so there’s hair, dirt, and mold covering the bottom/sides. Have mentioned to staff of gym and hotel several times, nothing done :(

It’s a great gym, one of the best but a few things...
Steam room in the men’s locker room feels cheap, plastic materials, not a huge fan of the LED lights, you should have the ability to turn them off..materials and aesthetics do not match up with everything else..like the showers...which are great 👍
Hours imo should be extended...It would be a dream if certain locations were 24 hours because sometimes you really have that kind of energy at night Would be great to have 24 access to the sauna and steam/gym facilities
My favorite location is Mission Beach mostly because it’s at the BEACH and you can literally get out of the sauna, run to the water and take a cold plunge in the ocean less than 60 seconds
🤔I think a cool addition to the sauna and steam room would be a cold shower..like much colder (40F-50F) I just feel like the water that doesn’t come out of the regular showers is cold enough 😂
I still think being a member of this gym is an incredible value

I love being in walking distance to such a nice gym! They have everything we need there, in a boutique styled but spacious city location. The monthly rates aren't cheap, but still much more competitive pricing than an Equinox!

This club is Equinox quality minus the higher cost. It's got everything you need, from strength, weight training and tons of cardio choices. Lots of innovatively-designed machines and equipment that are hugely flexible and can adapt to a multiple range of fitness goals. Great pool and an outdoor training area. Professional trainers, incredible locker rooms, lots of food choices (from Urban Taste) and a really super-nice, professional helpful staff. Best gym in the city by far.

This gym itself has fantastic facilities and equipment, the staff is friendly. The reason for my lower star rating is that I feel this membership is not the value I initially signed up for. When I first joined it was under the premise I would be receiving free unlimited classes (like yoga and other group fitness). When corona shut the gym down they charged me for a full month when they were open for 15 days of that month. Then when they finally opened again, did not charge a prorated credit. They charged me for another full month. Hence I paid a months membership fee for 15 days and this gym is not cheap. I pay the same price for the gym as when I was receiving unlimited classes to now be offered classes in which I have to pay to reserve a spot. Ridiculous. The gym membership price should be knocked down since they no longer offer the same services. When I asked why I was charged a full month I was told they would be going out of business if they didn’t as they are new. So fit being a new business justifies straight up stealing my money? For what they currently offer with corona this gym should be substantially cheaper than what they’re charging people.

Fit is fantastic!! Expensive but worth it if you go. The downside to Little Italy Fit it there is no parking. So if you go daily and have to find and pay for parking it just isn't worth it... I will stick to east village or mission beach

5+ stars! Fit is everything you could dream of in a luxury gym and more! Top of the line equipment, knowledgeable and experienced personal trainers, clean facility, full towel service, sauna and steam rooms, the best shower and lotion products, heated salt water pool and jacuzzi, delicious prepped meals, and hundreds of group classes weekly. Rachel Barrington is a seriously amazing instructor for chiseled and spin as is Kinnie, Jorge, and Tabu for Yoga. I highly recommend!

This new FIT has everything you'd ever want! Friendly staff, vallet parking if you dont live in the area, big, beautiful, brand new space in the heart of Little Italy and the most gorgeous roof top pool and hot tub! I took a Power Chakra Flow yoga class with the awesome Crystal R. and it was the perfect balance between stretching, yoga philosophy, slow mindful movement, standing poses, sitting poses, arm balances and then Yoga Nidra at the end. I left feeling refreshed physically, mentally and emotionally. Thank you!!!!

So, as a member I was very disappointed at this new location. First of all, I have to say that I really like Fit, so this review is directed to this specific location.
Parking: to my surprise, the gym has no parking. Being located in a busy area, you would imagine it has, but it doesn’t. When I asked the associate if it was something Fit was working on, I was informed that, at the moment, there’s no plan to implement parking or validation system, and I could use street parking or pay $10/hour for the valet. He also told me this gym was projected for hotel guests and people who live in the neighborhood.
Also, looks like they were in a hurry to open the place. Different than what happens when you walk into East Village or Mission, you don’t feel like you are in a premium gym. I get that every location is different, but this one doesn’t look finished. There’s construction dust in the floors and windows. And construction tapes around sauna doors. Even the sink in the women’s locker room looks crooked.
On the bright side, the gym is well equipped and the bike room looks amazing.
In summary, is a nice gym. But it does not represent the brand well in comparison to their other locations.
