Awful!!!! I cancelled my membership for the month of June and had until the beginning of July to use the gym. I just saw another payment taken out for July. I called and spoke with one of the workers and he said because I cancelled AFTER I made the June payment I had to pay for another month of membership. Huh? I was paid through June to beginning of July! Not sure if the guy knew how dumb that sounds, or he was just feeding me B.S. I had to call my bank to dispute the charge. I understand why so many of my friends have moved over to Planet Fitness. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Great, clean gym and very friendly staff! I just started going here after a horrid experience with planet fitness and I’m so grateful I made the switch. The woman who helped me explained everything so eloquently and a personal trainer popped in to say hi and tell me about her classes. Amazing customer service. It is a smaller gym but already feels much safer and way less crowded than PF.

I love Fitness 19! The equipment is always kept in tip-top shape and tons of variety/options. The machines are better than Planet Fitness (and less crowded). I love Fitness 19! The convenience of the location next to Food 4 Less, Walmart, and my children's school can't be beat! All the members are very kind and not pompous. I like that the members range in ages from 20's to 90's and all shapes and fitness levels. It's the most inclusive gym I've ever joined. It's my 2nd home. Sam is my favorite staff! He's fire 🔥! He's professional, always making improvements, and knows everyone's name. Two squat machines, leg press, 3 bench presses, 3 shoulder presses, and that's just the free weight section! Tons of cable machines and everything is always in working order and super clean.

Fitness 19 in Arroyo Grande is not only a gym for me but also a home. I moved to California around 6 years ago and joined Fitness 19 almost straight away.
The staff are always upbeat and friendly, the atmosphere is awesome and I have made many friends here along the way.

During a trying time in my move to the United States, the staff at Fitness 19 were always there to lift me up.

I couldn’t imagine feeling the same way about another gym.

If it’s a day pass you need or a lifetime membership, I urge you to stop by and give Fitness 19 a try!

I got my membership online 7 months ago without viewing the gym first.. I am locked in a contract and regret it. The gym is so so tiny you are breathing in everyone’s damp smelly sweaty oxygen at all times and there is NEVER room, spare weights, or machines to use. Great gym if you love cardio as over half the tiny space is treadmills and ellipticals. There is no space to do any ab work or stretching. They have a astroturf area in the parking lot but it’s been raining sideways all month.. I have worked out here 3 times in 7 months because I hate it so much. I would rather go to planet fitness than this gym. Actually, the PF in Grover beach is quite nice. Go there. Don’t waste your money and don’t make the mistake of locking into a contract like I did. Tour the gym first and see if it’s right for you. There is literally more room in the woman’s rest room to stretch or even simply stand up and put your arms out without touching someone else than there is on the gym floor.

This place is my second home. There is nothing fancy, but that's kinda the point. It's an affordable gym without the bells and whistles. Always feels comfortable, everybody is friendly and nice. You get

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. When I say I’ve never been to a more money hungry gym, I mean it. While the staff is friendly, the manager is the exact opposite. She had a smile on her face when you sign up, but when you go in to cancel (for whatever reason it may be) she is extremely rude & has the worst customer service I think I’ve ever encountered. She does not care about the members and this is extremely evident. Save the time and money, go elsewhere.

Been a member here for over 5 years. Absolutely love this gym and the staff! They have everything you need for a great workout. The staff make sure to keep everything heavily sanitized so I feel very comfortable working out here. Love the out door space that has been added since COVID. 10/10 and the staff are the best. Really just wanted to workout for one month before relocating to Oregon to help fight wildfires and they wanted a ridiculous entry fee plus the monthly fee on top. Came out to just shy of 140$ for one months use.. i asked if they could give me some kind of discount to no avail. not the best way to treat your first responders honestly..

Ms Brittany has been so welcoming and helpful. She has answered all my questions. Every single time I've entered I've been greeted with a GM and a smile. I highly recommend this gym not just for the welcoming but for the cleanliness, not crowded, variety of machines. Its a get it in and out type of gym. Canceled this gym membership in February of 2020. Sat down IN PERSON, spoke with staff , they told me about penalty to cancel and I decided to still cancel. Thinking nothing of it I just checked my account. THEY HAVE CONTINUED TO BILL ME. Legal action seems only option left.

I only have time to go to the gym during the hours of 10am to 12pm every single time I come in an old man (who has solicitated me to go to his church @ the gym before) hogs the smith machine the entire two hours I’m in the gym, while using other equipment too! I’ve tried to go up and use the smith machine while he was on the abs bench and still no he comes up and asks you not to use it until he leaves. I am about to switch gyms because people should not have the option to hog a machine for so long! The staff should be watching and if someone is hogging or not unloading weights they should get a fine or something to enforce this behavior not happening.

I've been coming to this gym for years, and I've never had a bad thing to say about the place until now.. There is no enforcement of the mask policy set forth by the state/county regarding Covid-19. Every time I've been here since they re-opened, at least half or more of the members are not wearing a mask, or have it pulled down to their chin for their entire workout. The staff never address the issue, and appear complacent with such risky behavior. If you're worried about Covid-19, I wouldn't recommend this gym right now.

If I could give this company 0 stars I would, worst business practices ever. I called in a month ago, to cancel my membership because I stopped attending. I was then assured that my membership would be canceled. It in fact was not. I was then told that even though I had not been to this gym in almost 3 months that. I would not be refunded for the monthly fee I was paying every month, but that in fact the $78.00 that they charged me for being there for 3 month I couldn’t get back either and that I was “just going to have to eat it.. sorry.”

I have been a member of Fitness 19 Arroyo Grande, CA since 2006. My experience has definitely improved since I signed up for Personal Training w/ Alisha! Once you sign up to work with a Personal Trainer, you are eligible to participate in group training at no additional cost. Alisha has a BA in kinesiology and is certified in Personal Training. She is running the training program and is excellent. All the personal trainers at Fitness 19 AG have risen to a higher standard. They are fun, challenging, professional, encouraging, and good ‘butt kickers’! Whether you want to tone up, build muscle, improve balance, or whatever your personal goals are, the Personal Trainers at Fitness 19 AG will help you accomplish them.

I was a member of this gym for almost a year-and-a-half, and besides trying to grab a Smith machine in January or February you can mostly get through your workout without too much trouble any time of the day or year. The cost more than fair, and they do a great job at keeping the machines oiled and in good repair. The TVs and sound system are always running well, the climate was always comfortable for me. The only drawbacks are that it does not have a shower and if you want some private space to do those awkward pelvic lunges or crab walks, you are going to be hard-pressed, especially during busy times because there is only a small amount of space dedicated to stretching. I don't have any children but heard good things about their child care.

I've been coming to this gym for some time. I enjoy the low pressure and casual but organized feeling I get here. The staff is friendly and helpful. I love this gym. Great equipment!! If you say “hi” to staff, they say hi back and are VERY friendly! Most of the time they don’t always want to bother people who are in a hurry or like a workout all to themselves without being bothered.
The price is great for a membership since I don’t like to shower and all that at the gym anyway...that can be kind of gross no matter how clean the facility!

Alisha Namanny, Personal Trainer, gets 5 STARS. She was incredible, informative and seeks to help with her experience and knowledge in the field. I'm a veteran lifter and I walked away knowing more than I did.

Rated at 3 STARS cause the facility is par. Customer service is poor (not speaking of all but majority). They don't greet you as you walk in or say goodbye as you leave. Their heads are down locked in their phone. The weights are never organized or employees organizing. Can see that the gym doesn't get a deep cleaning often. There aren't enough spray bottles to clean equipment which makes it difficult for others to clean up. They are in a way training their members to be poor members. I'd say they should start over and try again.

Fitness 19, I'd love to update this review in a few months time. Honest review.

Do not use this gym. They are overly aggressive on their sales, and more importantly, they make it a maze to cancel your account. I talked to them multiple times about it, asked them to ensure it was cancelled permenantly. Well, I find out today they have been billing me for over a year, and they will not consider a refund for all those months. They even verified I hadn't checked in once to the gym. Awful.

I apparently owe Fitness 19 $93. They made no attempt to contact me about the debt being owed and subsequently placed my account in collections, which has negatively affected my credit score and caused me a recent job opportunity. I contacted Fitness 19 about the debt, but they indicated that they "could not find my contract" but that I still owed the debt. They refused to take it out of collections, which is beyond California's Statue of Limitations.

I signed up for a membership yesterday, which I am very excited about. It's super affordable, with just a $1 enrollment fee, first and last months membership dues of $14/month (with no day restrictions!), and then I paid for first and last months of the kids club that is only $10/mo for unrestricted visits!
I also took advantage of their personal trainer special that they had going on of $99 for three sessions. Unfortunately, after writing the check for all this, an unexpected expense came up for my son and I couldn't afford to do the personal trainer at the moment. I went in this morning to see what I can do about cancelling the trainer, and they were totally flexible with me! They let me post-date a check to a time when I will have the money for it so I can still take advantage of the special pricing. They handed me my original check back and let me cut them two separate ones; one for the membership and one post-dated for the trainer.
I see other reviews of people having difficulties with payment and cancelling with Fitness 19, but I am happy to report that my experience is much to the contrary.
I will come back and make another review after using the fitness center :-)

I joined this gym several years ago when it first opened. True, it went through some bad times. Then about a year ago (today is 1/1/2014) the Franchise owners got rid of the old owner. The new owner invested a lot of money into remodeling it and hiring new people. It's been great, and a lot of good people work-out there. I go every other day and have never had any problems with staff or billing. Personally, I am very happy with this gym.

when you cancel before your next due date they still charge a month ahead plus extra 19 $ for next year and refuse to refund it to you and they clean the carpet with the dust during your exercise without consideration if you have allergy or not...

Well its cheap and as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. Although the gym is clean and equiped with a reasonable amount of equipment, there are too many members for the capacity of the gym. In fact I would be willing to bet the fire marshall would disagree with the amount of person to accessible exit ratio. As for the childcare, there are no credentials required for these people to watch you children.Nor is there a requirment for the childcare personnel to be CPR/Heimlich/First Aid trained professionals. In fact I am more qualified than the people working there. That doesn't instill a great amount of confidence in the facility. But if your looking for the cheapest gym in the area and are willing to manipulate your schedual to use the gym at a low traffic time then, this may be your gym. Truly,

There seems to be a real problem with getting them to stop billing me. I have jumped through all their hoops and still shows up on my account.
