Whitney is an incredible trainer, and I’ve truly enjoyed working with her since we started in March 2024. My initial goal was to tone up before my wedding later that year, and she helped me achieve exactly what I was hoping for—and more. Since training with her, I’ve lost 6.8% body fat and 3 inches around both my waist and lower abdomen. Gained 11lbs lean muscle throughout, but scale has stayed about the same! My clothes actually fit way better, particularly more loose in the midsection. I’m so much more comfortable in jeans + dresses.
I wanted to build my glutes, tone my arms, and improve my balance and flexibility. Whitney created a personalized plan that taught me how to properly activate my hip stabilizers, glutes, and hamstrings, which reduced my quad dominance, corrected hip rotation, and completely eliminated the knee strain and low back pain I had before starting with her. She also helped me fix my tech neck from long hours at a desk; I had no idea how much tension I was carrying in my traps and shoulders. With better alignment, every upper-body exercise became easier to learn and far more effective.
I felt absolutely stunning for my wedding and beyond. Whitney has helped me build strength and confidence inside and out. Our sessions are fun, educational, and something I genuinely look forward to. I feel more energized, my sleep has improved, and I’m no longer sluggish throughout the day. She also gives me structured workouts to do on my own, along with super helpful stretching, mobility, and foam-rolling tips that have made a huge difference in my stress levels and overall stamina.
I highly recommend Whitney. She is extremely knowledgeable, supportive, and amazing at what she does. It’s rare to find a trainer and a gym you’re excited to go to, but Whitney makes every workout enjoyable. The vibes are always top-notch!

I have been training with Byron for 7 months now and I can’t say enough good things about my experience with him.

I’ve played hockey all the way up to the collegiate level and have worked with countless strength and conditioning coaches so I can genuinely say Byron is one of the best I’ve worked with.

He does a great job of tailoring the workouts to your specific goals. What I enjoy the most about his training is the level of expertise he brings when teaching how certain movements/exercises affect different things like balance, mobility, strength, etc. Even after 7 months of training, I always learn something new every session.

Since I started, I have dropped 10lbs on scale, added 7lbs lean muscle and dropped 17lbs of body fat (6%).

I will also add that the vibes in the studio are amazing. Everyone’s working hard but having fun. It’s a nice escape from our hectic lives so I appreciate that both Byron and Whitney have cultivated that atmosphere over the years. They make a great team.

Simply put, Whitney and Byron are the best trainers I've ever worked with. I am approaching 50 with a (mostly) desk-job for the past 25 years. I needed everything - to get stronger, to age gracefully, to improve nutrition, to build habits.. They helped with all of this. I was constantly amazed at the new muscles I'd randomly notice, or the new amounts of weight I'd be able to lift.

My body fat has dropped nearly 10%, I've gained meaningful muscle mass, and perhaps most importantly, I made tangible corrections to years of bad posture and muscle imbalance. This is an area I am particularly grateful - Whitney and Byron built a custom program completely specific to the reality of my body and lifestyle. The small tweaks to technique made all the difference, and these are things I'd never notice on my own - or expect a trainer with less experience to focus on the way they did. Whitney helped me achieve transformative results. I'm a tall skinny guy and have always had trouble putting on muscle. I'm also an avid surfer and snowboarder and had just let my desk job get the better of me and needed a jumpstart to get back into shape and a real habit of fitness and training. And I got all of that and more. Whitney's technique-driven approach with weightlifting and focus on improving my diet helped me gain 20 lbs of muscle and lose probably 5 lbs of fat/water weight over the course of 5 months. She is a true "coach", which kept me motivated, and she cares about her client's improvements, including not just in the weight room, but outside via diet and lifestyle. It's a full 360 approach. Whitney helped me identify my greatest points of weakness (for me, legs, chest and glutes) and coached me how to properly isolate those muscle groups and I saw gains I've never realized during previous bouts of weight training. I trained with Whitney & Byron for over a year. I loved the strength that I gained under her watch. Her attention to detail is insane, and she makes it feel less like a chore and actually fun to train. Never having lifted weights at all or been trained to do it any other time in my life, she made it approachable and understandable, from the technique to a pretty sizable amount of weight that we worked up to. And my friends all noticed how much stronger I got working with her. Now that I've moved away, I'm now able to take what I learned and go to new neighborhood gym and apply what I learned. I started working with Whitney in early 2024, after many years of battling with an irregular or nonexistent fitness routine (and subsequently poor body image). As someone who did not have a strong foundation in the gym, I was looking for a trainer who could create a bespoke program and help me master form from the ground up.

From day one, Whitney was encouraging, thorough, and helped me feel welcome in an environment that had at one time brought me a lot of anxiety. She was able to diagnose the muscular imbalances that were causing pain, and we set out on a routine that truly transformed my life!

I, like many of us, spend a lot of time working on a computer and my posture really suffered from it. Whitney focused on strengthening and lengthening muscles that were previously pulling my head and shoulders forward, which has reduced a ton of neck & upper back discomfort and improved my posture overall. She also helped me build strength and better muscular balance throughout my lower body and abdomen. Over the 7 months we worked together, I lost 30 lbs of fat and gained 10 lbs of muscle, while also eliminating the lower back pain I had been struggling with for years. I lost 6+ inches from the areas that were causing me the most insecurity, and gained definition in my glutes, shoulders, back and legs.

My time with Whitney recently came to an end after I moved to another part of town, but I would absolutely still be working with her if I could. She and Byron genuinely transformed my relationship with my body, instilled confidence and strength I had not been able to access on my own, and have laid the foundation for me to continue (and even look forward to!) a lifelong fitness journey.

I found Byron and Whitney as I was turning 43 and felt blah. I had a strong weight training background and years of personal training at Equinox, but I had taken some time off and wasn't thrilled to rejoin Equinox. I am so glad I took the leap! Almost 8 months in now, 2 days a week, and I am feeling great and seeing results. I have mainly worked with Byron, however Whitney has trained me a couple times and was my initial contact when I reached out. I was very impressed with the detail that was given to learning about my likes/dislikes/previous training/injuries/eating habits/goals, etc before we started. These two really know what they are doing! (not the case with all trainers). They are focused on form and preventing injuries. The difference I have noticed from my prior training experience is what has made all the difference. I have perfected my form in ways I have never been taught previously! Never did I know my trapezius muscles were working during much of my upper body training, leading to rounded shoulders and tightness. I can now work other parts of my back I was never able to and feel so much better. They teach an awesome home workout to compliment the in person training, which has made a huge difference in my waistline and core strength. They stress rolling out between your workouts, and teach you the correct way to do it! Whitney and Byron have helped me with my diet habits and I've learned great meal prepping tools that I am finally using. They really live what they teach and that has been an inspiration to me too. I highly recommend taking the leap.

Amazing! Thanks to the help of Byron— who not only showed me how to workout, but diet as well, I was able to go from 34% body fat to 20% within a year! Within that year, I gained 11 pounds of muscle and lost about 30 pounds of fat. They make working out feel simple, yet they still manage to keep it challenging and the results show it. Byron and Whitney are amazing trainers, but even better people, and I’d recommend them to anyone trying to get into fitness!

If you’re reading this review that probably means you’re trying to find the right trainer for you to achieve your fitness goals - PLEASE stop searching and sign up and Byron and Whitney.

Working with them is the first time I have ever seen such great results. In under 3 months I put on close to 9 pounds of lean muscle and saw myself getting so much stronger each session. The workouts and diet are tailor made to specifically who you are and what works for you - and I know that sounds cliche but with this kind of one on one training, it can’t get more personalized. I trained with Byron who is so great to train with but both Whitney and Byron work together to make sure each of their clients is on track to be successful. Such a fun place to work out - they’re funny and caring (and Whitney makes some bomb healthy protein desserts too lol) and they are just really invested in you. If I could, I would work out with them 5 days a week all year round! Hope I can be back in the gym with them soon. Stop thinking and sign up!

Can't be more grateful to both Byron and Whitney for all they do. I found them on google and Yelp when following through with my 2020 New Years resolution. They have been my personal trainers for ever since. I wouldn't have it any other way. Its beneficial to have a 2 personal trainers that could review your workouts and adjust accordingly. I’ve been going to trainers for 20+ years - from Dallas to NYC to LA. This is the worst trainer I have ever had. And it’s the first time I have ever left a review. Please please please if you are looking to get in shape, lose weight, etc., go somewhere else.

As a result, i gained about 10 pounds of fat that i am now desperately trying to shed. I walked in to this gym lean w abs and just wanted to gain 5 pounds of muscle. I left a total mess and have been struggling ever since.

Top Reasons To Never Go

- Ate lunch while training me
- Took videos instead of spotting me (can’t believe I didn’t get hurt when i dropped the weights bc she wasn’t spotting me)
- Was on her phone not paying attention and saying “nice job” as she was prolly scrolling on social media. I once stopped working out and she kept saying “nice job.”
- I would show up and she would ask ME what we should train!
- She would forget what we were doing in the middle of our workouts and i would have to remind her.

There’s a lot more about her over sharing w me about her clients and personal life, but you get it.

And when I called her out on all this and said “hey! I need you to show and be prepared to train me,” she agreed, but was late 2 sessions later and back to her awful self.

Please look around and find a trainer that knows what they are doing. If you care about your health and your body, don’t go here.

I discovered Byron & Whitney after vigorously searching for top-notch personal trainers in Marina del Rey — and I am SO glad I found them! Within just a few hours after emailing, Byron called me to inquire about my fitness goals and tell me how the program works. At the end of our call, he had me fill out a detailed questionnaire to understand my health history, fitness background, past injuries, eating habits, etc. Unlike most personal trainers, Byron took the time upfront to learn about my body and health habits BEFORE signing me on, which put my anxieties at ease.

I spent the next 8+ months working out with Byron 3x week—and it was one of the best investments in my health I’ve ever made. He built a custom workout plan that drove REAL RESULTS. I gained 6.9lbs of muscle, 4” to my chest, and 1.5” to my biceps. I lost 5.9lbs of fat, 2” off my waist, and decreased my body fat by 3.3%. I’ve TRULY never felt more confident in my body.

Beyond the programs, Byron is an amazing communicator. He was always on top of scheduling and accommodated my share of last-minute work conflicts. During our sessions, he kept my form in check to ensure I was learning exercises correctly (and safely). He always made me feel comfortable when I had questions or when I couldn’t quite get a certain exercise down.

Whitney literally has changed my life! She is the sweetest ,kindest, and funniest person I have ever met. I have been a frequent flier at physical therapy, received hip injections, and had three hip surgeries all at the age of 26. Meeting Whitney she not only helped me correct my posture , but she also corrected me in exercises that I was not doing correct before. Because of Whitney, I stand up straight, I am starting to get my core to work, glutes to work, and I am feeling a million times better than several months ago. She has so much patience, especially as I am not a coordinated person. She has not given up on me. :) Even though I do have some hip problems, she is making my road to recovery much easier. I was someone that was always in shape but in the last few years I had gained some weight that I just couldn’t lose on my own. I found Whitney through Yelp and decided to give her a try. She is a great trainer because she is not only hands on and detail oriented but genuine and compassionate. Ultimately I am so happy with my choice to work with her and I know you would be too!

My journey:
She noticed early on that one of my weaknesses was balance. I have always had back pain which was exacerbated by a medication I was taking. We worked around the back pain and she gave me the homework of corrective exercises to practice. So in addition to working out with her two times a week in the gym I would work out with my home/gym routine. By the end of my time with her I definitely noticed that my balance had improved. I also learned how to recognize what would exacerbate back pain and how to manage it.

We also spoke a lot about nutrition. One of my concerns was how I could eat healthy with minimal prep and minimal time allocated to cooking. She taught me about the importance of prioritizing vegetables and protein and how I could find grocery options that worked for my lifestyle.

Working with Whitney was also life-changing because I realized how impactful exercise could be on my mood. Exercising 5 to 6 times a week greatly improved my mood, which for me was as big of a reward as the weight loss.

I will add that you can’t phone it in. You have to do the work and change your mindset in order to see results. PS, must love dogs!

A little over a year ago, I discovered Whitney and Byron through Yelp. They offered me a free training session and I immediately clicked with them.
It was one of the best decisions I ever made.
Over two years ago, I gained a large amount of weight and could not lose it no matter how hard I tried. I felt terribly insecure and overwhelmed trying to navigate fitness alone. Working with Whitney changed everything and in a healthy fashion. I not only lost weight but built muscle. I got stronger and my endurance has become the best it has ever been. I used to struggle in high-cardio workout classes and now I do them without issue. I was the least athletic person in my family and after working with Whitney, I could out-ski them on our winter vacation.
Physically - I have improved considerably. I dropped 40.1 lbs going from 182.4 to 142.3. I went from 36.10% body fat to a much healthier 23.60%. I lost considerable inches in every part of my body. I went from having to order the biggest size in a bridesmaid's dress for my cousin's wedding to slipping into a size 6 nearly a year later. My heartburn has also disappeared.
The mental relief has been another welcome side-effect of working with Whitney. I have my confidence back. I can fit into all the old clothing that I had given up on. I can push myself to go further and lift more. It's not just a physical weight loss, but a mental relief.
Whitney had always been available for me if I have a question regarding nutrition when I'm meal planning. She is filled with solid information regarding the right workout shoes, workout clothes, vitamins, protein powders, etc.
I have developed good eating habits and a doable exercise regime. Whitney was adamant about not crash dieting and as a result, I feel like I won't just gain back the weight I lost. I never once felt hungry while listening to her tips. I have been able to enjoy a cheat meal on the weekends or on vacation without the fear that I will binge. The most important part about working with Fitness and Fuel is that Whitney and Byron are completely invested in your transformation. They want you to succeed and they want it to last. They have taught me a new way of living.

I started working out with Fitness and Fuel back in March 2020 and I have nothing but the most amazing things to say. Not only did I get results, YES, results... I lowered my body fat over 3%, lost 2 inches in my waist but gained 3 lbs of muscle. All these accomplishments has not only made me feel good, they have made me a stronger runner and overall person.
So besides actually getting results (which is what you want) you have to know that at F&F it's all done in an environment of camaraderie, respect and thoughtfulness. MIRACLE WORKERS!

I can’t speak highly enough of Byron and Whitney, and their expertise in both nutrition and training, as they helped me get by some nagging injuries, and build my strength back up so that I could return to the sports and physical activities I enjoyed participating in.

During my training with Byron I realized that I always felt amazing on the days I started my mornings at Fitness and Fuel. Without thinking about it too much I assumed it was because we were working on aspects of the body... exercises, routines, etc. But it wasn’t until later that I realized it had just as much to do with the good nature and atmosphere of the studio…

Byron’s positive attitude and sense of humor, despite his love of the Patriots ;) turned out to be the most important aspect of my recovery. I just felt that I was in good hands and that we were a team in this mission to “get me back on my feet.” Little did I realize that my psyche needed a bit of rehab in addition to the muscles, tendons, and bones, and for that I am very grateful.

I trained for 3 months with Byron and I cannot say enough good things about working with Fitness and Fuel. I loved that Byron eased me into making fitness a part of my lifestyle, instead of trying to force my body into doing what it wasn't ready for (like many other fitness programs do). Byron would always push me to just enough past my limit so that I felt accomplished after each session, not defeated. Byron and Whitney are also really awesome to be around (and so are their dogs!) so it eases the fact that they're kicking your butt in your workout.

Great trainers! It might be easy to find a trainer trainer who knows weightlifting.. another who knows boxing, cardio, Pilates, etc.. another who knows mobility and flexibility... another who knows the medical and physiological side...another who knows the nutrition side... What’s difficult is finding all of that in one spot which is what you get at F&F. Whitney and Byron have a lot of knowledge and experience that is incrorpoated into the training.

Worked with Byron for about 5 months in 2017. I am 63 years old, an avid bicyclist, and have suffered from scoliosis since 6th grade. Byron was able to tailor my workouts to target my weaker muscles. The workouts were always well planned and fun (even Bosu burpees). Saw an improvement in my core, overall strength, and stability. You could go to some big box gym, pay some inflated price to cover their overhead and get someone fresh off their certification to train you. Or you could see Byron & Whitney, where you'll get two professionals at the top of their game who are honestly invested in helping you achieve your goals. I could white a dissertation on how awesome they are, but it wouldn't be able to do them justice--plus, this is Yelp and no one wants to read a dissertation. If you're on the fence/intimidated/unsure, just give them a call and you'll soon realize these are the type of individuals that give the fitness/wellness community a good name. And now they have a kick-ass, brand new studio to train you in. The selfish part of me doesn't want to share them--I can't have you taking up my training session spots--but, they deserve and have earned all the accolades you're reading here.

I have a very hectic travel schedule (often times to overseas locations) which makes a regular workout regime and diet challenging. As such, I began putting on extra pounds on my already large frame. I began working with Whitney to help take the weight off and she was absolutely the right partner. Whitney's combination of encouragement and support, coupled with her ability to find the right nutritional mix helped me get into better shape and feel better about myself. I trained with Byron for a few years (with a few sporadic Whitney sessions thrown in as well) and it was a life-changer. It wasn't just about working out hard during our sessions, it was about Byron giving me the knowledge and grounding to take with me outside of the gym as well through his thorough explanations of what we were doing and why, as well as nutrition and stretching advice among other things. After hitting a rough patch in my personal life, I was craving change. I called Whitney to get in the best shape of my life. I wasn't overweight, but I was soft. As an actress, I know I will be judged by my body. Whitney understood this and helped me work constructively on improving my physique for the long term, avoiding crash diets prolific in the entertainment industry. I lost 8.7% body fat (23.3% to 15.6%). While I gained shapely muscle in my abs, butt, legs and arms, I still lost the 7 stubborn pounds I couldn't shake on my own. Plus, I gained confidence. Workouts focus on developing balance, coordination and core strength. Not surprisingly, I gained balance and control over other areas in my life now. I'm landing more roles, and frequently my characters are fit, strong women. When I stick to her nutrition plan I feel like superwoman! She was also a great life coach. I feel lucky to have met Whitney and plan to train with her for the rest of my life!
