This place is amazing, honestly, I’ve never experienced any negativity here. If you show up regularly and are respectful, the staff have no reason to be anything but kind. Their patience is off the charts, seriously, 20/10. This is hands down the best gym I’ve ever been to. I’ve been super consistent, 2 hours a day, 5 days a week and every request or mistake I’ve ever made was met with a smile and handled gracefully. Truly, the best gym that’s ever existed.

Special kudos to staff, they are heck of gems. Smiling all day long. They aren’t high but somehow that smile shines my day. Thank you everyone who works here

I always went to this gym and love it. But unfortunately the AC there is getting so crazy that I will need to switch.
Constantly getting sick from it. Maybe it's just me and other people don't mind, but other gyms are not that cold and windy.

Best gym. That is all… Spacious, clean, great new equipment, completely stocked with every type of machine you need, from stairmasters to Olympic weights. Of course it’s busy between 5 to 7 but you’ll still get the machines you need. Oh yeah, the staff is great.

I’ve been a Fitness SF member since beginning of 2025, this location is the location I visit most often and it’s a great gym. The gym has tons of workout equipment, pin machines, plate machines, three different areas for dumbbells, barbell/squat racks, and many power lifting racks as well. The gym is split into two large rooms with the second room having the power lifting equipment along with artificial turn and heavy tires to flip. The gym also offers a room with massage chairs and a cold chair to use. The staff is friendly when you scan in at the desk. I’ve never had an issue with the gym being dirty. The locker rooms have nice day use lockers where you don’t need to bring your own lock. Showers are available. Yes it does get crowded during the morning and evening rush times but it’s in a major city, not surprising. For $120 a month, it’s one of the nicest gyms I’ve been apart of.

Very clean, equipment is diverse, and moderately well spaced. They keep it too warm, and the music is always too loud. BTW, their response to the noise issue is that it's "for the members who don't wear headphones," which exemplifies their customer service.

I absolutely love the Vinyasa yoga classes taught by Cyrus! He is an amazing teacher that brings fun and creative flows with unique class themes. Cyrus creates a calming and powerful environment that is inspiring and I always look forward to! I wish there were more classes especially in salesforce park.

Love that there are a lot more yoga classes now with my membership! I go 3 times a week, and it’s been great having better and better instructors and more classes.

Always love the Vinyasa classes with Cyrus, he adapts well for different skill levels. Excited to try Tony Asaro & Marc Morozumi’s classes.

Hope there will be more morning classes in the future!

Love this gym but it is absolutely not worth coming to unless you're able to workout between 9am and 4pm otherwise this place is swamped with people. Other than that, this is probably the best gym in the city. It has newer functionable equipment, towel service and the cleaning crew keeps this place spotless. It's also MASSIVE!!

This has been my gym for the better part of 5 years now, and this particular location is what sold me on coming here. They have all the equipment I need, no shortage of squat racks, and everything is super clean, from the equipment to the locker rooms. It still feels brand new after all these years.

I'm not much of an exercise class person-I prefer to walk in, do my routine, and get on with my day. This place is perfect for that, and is right by my office building. Can't say enough about how great this spot is, highly recommend!

A very large and comprehensive gym with incredibly professional trainers. I've been trained by Justin O'Neil for the past few months and have made incredible gains in both fitness and overall health. Justin focuses on the core foundations and within a few weeks I put on 2 lbs of muscle and have been very happy with my progress. Fitness SF is hands down the best gym chain in San Francisco. It’s a fantastic value for the price point, especially with their flexible month-to-month membership option that you can cancel anytime.

They have locations throughout the city but their Transbay gym is the newest and most modern of them all. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into the space. It’s a huge gym, with multiple rooms, a spacious open floor plan, and large windows for great light throughout.

Even during the busiest hours after work, the space never feels too cramped like some other gyms. I especially like the room with turf which has 10+ squat racks. A perfect space for leg day.

They also have a nice lounge/lobby area at the entrance. You’ll always see people hanging out or doing work in there. It makes the club feel more social and a place you can spend time in. The staff are also nice and the front desk person is always friendly and welcoming.

The locker rooms also feel quite premium and are always very clean. They have private bathroom stalls with those fancy heated toilet seats with bidets. The showers use glass doors and a marble-like tile that looks elegant. Definitely a big step up from a Planet Fitness or 24 Hour locker room.

One minor gripe I have with Fitness SF in general is their toiletries. All their products are from a brand called EO but I really don’t like the smell of any of them. I always bring my own body wash/shampoo.

Overall though, Fitness SF Transbay is a fantastic gym that feels modern, spacious and social. It’s definitely one of the best gyms I’ve ever seen for its price point. 💪🏼🏋️‍♂️

The price point for the membership is reasonable. I wouldn't pay any more for this gym or any other similar gym. It's clean by SF standards. Lots of space in the transbay location which is nice. They've done an alright job of balancing open space vs machines.

The app is garbage. Check in process is broken because the app doesn't work well - it may be so annoying that it makes this membership not worthwhile, since it's such a hassle to just check in.

Nowhere near as nice as Studiomix used to be but also less than half the price.

They “upgraded” to these Flowwater machines to fill water bottles. Right now all of them are down “purifying” the water. They must not have asked other businesses that purchased one (used at the volume here) if they liked them…. These are infamously bad. They already had to put up the tacky “don’t pour anything but water” signs on them 🤣😭. Also they are completely unnecessary as we have great tap water here.

Other than that a pretty great gym! Although having some things Kg and other things Lbs is weird.

I want to love this gym. It’s over $100 a month, and has bidet toilets. That’s great.. but it only has TWO hamstring machines in the whole place (one lying, one sitting, NO standing version) so why not use the smith machines ? Only two of those and one is broken often. One thrust machine on the furthest end. The hack squat machine has the worst angle, so you can’t do front facing ones. Wish there were way more leg machines here since people are always waiting for them. It’s an odd imbalance. There are zero land mine attachments for the bar… but 3 landmine placements. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Other than that the gym is great and has nice amenities - hopefully they maintain the “newness” quality of this place. Lots of machines and pulleys, db’s for arms and chest/upper. If you’re a body builder, it can work but definitely lacking the full range of machinery if you need more lower variety.

I’ve been a paying customer for about half a decade and have had nearly zero issues. Most of that time was going to the SOMA branch, where the staff are extremely friendly.

But today, I forgot to bring my phone and when the front desk assistant was about to allow me to sign in with just my First+Last name, the manager stopped me. They apparently have a “policy” to only allow sign-ins via the app or a government ID. I can understand that being a guideline, but I don’t understand why they can’t budge every once in a while.

I’ve come here for almost half a decade, paid thousands of dollars to them, the front door assistant recognizes my face, they definitely have the ability to look up a member by name, my picture looks exactly like me, I can recite the phone number, email, the day I opened the account, and even the credit card number they have on file for me - and they would not let me work out for 30 minutes.

Terrible customer service. The manager is a robot who cannot think for himself. I will not confuse it anymore; Fitness SF is not a mom and pop shop - it’s a corporate entity that only sees its members as account numbers, not humans.

Extremely predatory business, overcrowded gyms, responsive sales team and unresponsive customer support.

I have used my plan twice in the first couple days and requested an account cancelation after the first week because I did not forsee myself using the service. I am on a theoretically "month-to-month" plan

I was told that not only was I not eligible for even a pro-rated refund of a service I am not using (because I submitted a cancelation request 2 business days after eligibility over a period of time where I did not even use the service), but also that I would be charged for the NEXT TWO MONTHS.

Their policy is apparently a 3 month minimum, with a 60 days cancelation notice in advance. Extremely anti consumer for a product that is okay at best. Not worth the price, not worth the lack of support and clear bent of the company to take advantage of whatever extra revenue they can squeeze from members.

I wish I had better things to say because a lot of the equipment decisions are clearly thought out but the customer interactions has left me with an extremely poor taste in my mouth and as of now I would strongly recommend against using fitness sf gyms.

I will soon post photos of how overcrowded the gym is and cramped some of the other locations are.

What's up with the manager who's always talking to some dude on a machine during rush hour? This ain't a disco, talk to him outside of here and on your own time, not when people are trying to get stuff done. Also, don't you have a policy against staff fraternizing with members? She's inches away from his face and always hugging at the end of the never-ending flirtations.

I ended up leaving as I can't at this gym. Also, are your trainers allowed to teach at other gyms?

Love the gym but they don’t believe those who travel or just moved here should workout unless they buy a membership. $30/day, your here a week. That’s $210. Maybe reduce it so that those who travel can workout too. But I guess no one is ever about fitness or brand ethos. All about gaining most profits. I’d much rather spend $10 a day when I’m randomly here, but I guess spending that money for a corporate sized gym like LA fitness makes more sense if the gym is anti - gym seekers from out of town.

Most Fitness SF locations are solid, but IMO this one is the best. It's big, new, always clean, and has a good array of equipment (including a ton of squat racks). I’ve been a member of SF Fitness for 4 years, and their gyms are always clean and have a great selection of workout equipment. The Transbay and Embarcadero locations are by far my favorites to go to and get a good workout. I’ve been training with Emma Salaam, who helped me lose 30 pounds last year. She is an amazing trainer who listened to any concerns I had and helped me with back pain. Emma helped me so much with my fitness goals by giving me dietary suggestions and coming up with workout plans I could do when not seeing her. Emma is truly an amazing trainer, and I love working with her.

Overall the best gym at this price point in downtown SF. Facility is clean and well maintained. Equipment and machines are in good shape as well. The training staff is very knowledgeable and not pushy. I have a back injury and worked with Rehan A. who has a background in rehab and physical therapy. Super knowledgable.

Great facility with very kind staff! I appreciate how clean everything is kept. The mornings and evenings are fairly busy, but people are nice and willing to share machines/weights!

For anyone looking into personal training, Emma S is an amazing trainer!! She’s very knowledgeable and kind. I started working with her after recovering from an injury. She knew how carefully to navigate my physical weakness and help me gain strength in a safe and sustainable way. I’m truly enjoying working with her and I’ve learned so much over the last few months!

This is one of the best gyms I have ever been. All the equipment is high quality and clean. My favorite part of the gym is my personal trainer: Emma - she has been a great coach, inspiring motivator and knowledgeable support as I go through my pre natal journey with tailored sessions for the pregnancy stage I’m on. Now, I tell all my friends that the best decision you can make, is get the support of someone like Emma during this highly challenging change for your body. Since I’m training with her, I’m feeling more energized and confident about my pregnancy. 110% recommended!

My favorite Fitness SF location because it’s new, large, and clean. Plus, I love working out here with my personal trainer Carlos. He always creates the right workout schedule for me and knows how to push me to my limits without injuring my body, so I’ve already seen great results with him!

Carlos Guardado Palacios has been my personal training since September of 2023. Every session I have with him have been a good experience. When he teaches me exercise routines he shows you step by step to get the routine down. If you are doing a routine incorrectly he helps me with my form. I really like that he does that. He checks on you if you are feeling alright when doing workout drills. I love that he pushes me to do my best on every workout routine and to achieve my goals.

The facilities are large and clean. The staff are always really nice and helpful. I work with Jaylen as my personal trainer and have been really enjoying it. He's always really positive and I appreciate that he meets me where I'm at. He does a good job tailoring workouts to my needs and I've seen some great results in the few months I've been working with him and I look forward to continuing to work out with him!

Came in from out of town. $30 day pass $90 week pass.

Front desk was great. Bathroom and locker room is phenomenal. Literally came back because of the toilet seat warmer and bidet 🤣.

All equipment is in top shape and a ton of it. Olympic side has a million Squat racks and weights. Would rate higher if I could!!!

Thanks for being amazing 😍

There are absolutely no rules or regulations enforced in this gym. It's overly crowded, with people leaving their bags strewn everywhere, from the grass workout area to the walkways. 2 stars for having enough squat machines otherwise just 1 star

It's okay. Pretty much unusable at the times I'd like to use it though, which means going during the middle of work hours or maybe in the very late evening. Can hardly say too much business is bad, but it's a bummer when trying to get in a workout.

Very irresponsible services. I tried to freeze my account and no help available. In-person staff offer no help, online staff doesn’t do either. Freezing department wod not work when needed. Be prepared when you need this kind of service from them. I don’t mind paying for their expensive membership fee but once problem occurs, they fail to prove my purchase is worthwhile.

Well I’m not from San Francisco. I was only in town for a conference and needed to do some lifting workouts while I was here. This place seems like the heaven of gyms. Every thing is beautiful and functional and the barbell area is nicer than anything I’ve ever seen. I cannot imagine a movement that you could not do at this place. The locker rooms have fresh towels, spotless floors and heated toilet seats. ;)
The gentleman at the front desk was kind and there was no waiting for anything on a weekend morning.
I’m sure the membership is not cheap, but one could understand why.

Been going here consistently for 7 months. I’m very impressed with how clean this gym is and how many different pieces of equipment they have. I use barbell racks frequently so I love that they have 20 of them. Almost always one available even at rush hour. Staff is friendly and trainers are very seasoned with a variety of programming.

I was selfish not to share this hidden gem any earlier, let me put you on what might be the best gym in SF, having tried both higher and lower end gyms in the area.

New facilities, well maintained, clean, plenty of power racks and equipment (no/minimal wait time, depends what time you’re there). Deep trainer team with different specialties.

There’s bike, yoga, and multi-purpose rooms with boxing bags and fighting equipment. No spa/sauna/pool/steam (they have that at another FITNESS SF location) but there’s great massaging seats and guns here.

All of this doesn’t really matter without the right people. Special shoutout to Ken for being a great host, fostering a welcoming and safe environment for all. Appreciation extends to Asad, Mariana and the whole team.

Love this gym! Really clean space, amazing equipment and like 12 platforms!!! I’ve had great interaction with the staff and trainers, they’re all so nice and friendly! Recently I was using a box for a circuit and someone, not realizing I was using it, took it. I didn’t have the energy to chase them down and explain I was using it but Justin, one of the trainers, saw what happened and offered the box he was using with a client as they were just finishing up, I just really appreciated him looking out for me, he didn’t have to but he did and I’m not even one of his clients! Justin and all the other trainers have always been really kind and respectful and I’ve enjoyed interacting with them even though I don’t work with any of them. Highly recommend!

FITNESS -SF Transbay Love all the equipments, the clean bathroom and friendly staff. BUT, can we please put on a sign to remind some people: please be courteous and not spend 30 mins on your phone while take the machine / bench so others can use too. I have been to all locations, this location seems notoriously having tons of those type of clientele.

The facilities were fine, the Transbay location is their best, however Fitness SF has extremely unfriendly/anti-consumer cancellation and billing policies intended to extract an extra (hundred) bucks from you when you forget to follow their terms of service.

I don’t recommend giving your business to Fitness SF, but if you choose to, make sure to read their contract.

It’s impossible to cancel membership. I’ve started it 22d July, and they charged me 32 usd for the rest of Jul and additional 99 usd as a prepayment for last month. I’m moving to another town in September, so I’ve sent a request to cancel membership, however they refuse to do that. They want me to pay August fee, and don’t listen to me when I explain that I’ve been already charged for it. Why should I pay twice? In membership agreement it’s stated that I need to cancel at least 15 days before the next billing cycle. I’ve sent cancelation request as of 5-Aug which is 28 days before September billing cycle. Don’t understand what I was charged for, and why do I have to pay again when I’m asking to cancel? Im asking management to pay attention to this issue, as when I send email to cancelation team, I receive response from the new person each time, with standard text. Looks like they don’t really read my emails. Thank you!

Updating my review to answer owner's questions: there is no single world in your membership agreement that minimum I should pay for 3 months. Also, it doesn't say that you charge last month fee at the moment of enrollment (USD 99), which you did. It's been 4 days now that I can't cancel my membership.
