I've been coming to Fitness Together every week for 4 years. The personal training has been wonderful, or I would never have continued. I am 74 years old, and in very good physical shape even though I had a serious heart attack only 5 years ago. The personal training at Fitness is tailored to your own physical issues unlike so many programs such yoga classes where the trainer is guessing what would be best for some of the clients. I get a total body strength-training, and every moment of the 45 minute class is strenuous but also perfectly adapted to my own situation. Plus, every class - and I have had perhaps 200 of them - is different, so it is never boring. Blake, the owner of Fitness Together and his wife have created a very positive vibe, so the moment you enter, you feel welcome and ready to get to work.

Excellent personalized one-on-one training with respectful and knowledgeable trainers who genuinely care about my personal goals. Fitness is a way of life for me, but a recent injury to my arm and chest set me back and I couldn’t do normal everyday activities without pain...let alone workout. When I did try to work out it just aggravated the injury and caused more pain. I’ve been training with Blake for about 7 months now to rehab the injury. I’ve had continued improvement every week and I’m pain free now and building strength in the muscles around the injury. The injury had persisted for more than two years, but Blake’s guidance has helped me be aware of certain motions/movements/activities that occur in the course of a normal day that can cause strain on certain muscle groups. Being cognizant of my daily routines along with the slow and steady increase in weight training has healed the injury and has me feeling stronger than I’ve ever felt. I’m now lifting more weight than I had prior to the injury, yet I’m pain free!! I’m forever grateful for Blake’s passion, knowledge and genuine interest to help me get better. So fortunate I happened to walk by the studio that day and stop in to check it out!

I have been training with Vince for over two years now, and I cannot say enough great things. I first signed up to get into a fitness routine, and I am so glad I did, because I sincerely look forward to each session with Vince! He's super knowledgeable, patient, enthusiastic and motivational but never pushy! He always has a new joke or one-liner to deliver too - just a free added bonus.

About a year and half into our training relationship, I got pregnant with my first child, and Vince went out of his way to make sure my training program was geared towards pregnancy-safe exercises and routines! I worked out with Vince all the way up to the week I delivered my baby girl and my delivery was smooth and according to plan. I credit Vince with keeping me in great shape throughout my pregnancy - I believe my fitness condition attributed to my safe, easy, healthy labor.

In summary, I would highly recommend Fitness Together and particularly Vince to people of all ages, shapes and sizes. It's a FUN workout, a great atmosphere, and a dedicated staff. I am loyal client and hope to be for the long haul!

I have done just about every type of movement/excercise over the last 40 years (I am 50). Aerobics/weight lifting/Jazzercise in the 80s, yoga in the 90s, Zumba and Pilates in the 2000s. I never found a workout that I enjoyed this much. Part of my litmus test for enjoyment is if I am not watching the clock and hoping for the workout to end. I am one month in with Fitness Together and I haven't watched the clock once. The workouts feel like they fly by and they are interesting! I haven't been bored once - probably because the workout is always different.

The level of care that Blake and his staff take with the clients is at a level I have never experienced. They welcomed me like I was a part of the their family and they treat everyone with a warm, positive vibe. Also - they pay attention! If I say I am a little sore, they remember that comment and the details I gave. If I say that my lower back was hurting, they check up on me and follow up. They also help with eating and diet. They give specific pointers and advice (without lecturing) and are on top of the latest research with food.

One thing that I didn't know I would like so much is the privacy of the workout. At Fitness Together, you are trained in a large 3-wall room - a "suite" - with just you and your trainer. I didn't know how freeing this would be for me. I am now realizing, after all these years, how much it bothered me to be watched by others or feel like I was in competition with others or to feel embarrassed when I couldn't lift a heavier weight. All of those icky feelings are gone. Plus, I realize I don't like gyms. They are usually fairly ugly with smells from the rubber mats and sweat. I never thought this bothered me - I would have never claimed that I didn't like gyms. I've been going to gyms for decades! But, this "gym" is so clean, so pretty (lots of light and high ceilings), and so private that it is just really appealing to the senses. In the "suite" it is just me and my trainer and he (in this case Allen - who is awesome) cheers me on and makes me feel like I am doing great. He also pushes me further than I would ever push myself, which makes a huge difference in my progress!

Another perk is that the trainer sets up the weights, takes down the weights, sets up the mat, cleans the mat...all those little things that just bring the workout down when you have to do them yourself. Your only focus here is give it your all during the respective exercise, and it somehow feels so much better than slogging through the "housekeeping." Your trainer cleans up after you while you can catch your breath and get water. It is that feeling, again, of being taken care of - being safe and knowing someone has your back.

I cannot say enough about these workouts. As an aside, if you feel it is pricey, I want to say this - not taking care of yourself will be pricier in the bigger picture. If you don't keep your muscles strong, your heart conditioned, and your body in good shape, it will only catch up with you. When it does, you will pay a price with your pocket book, your time, years on your life - and probably pain. Every cent I am paying for these workouts is SO WORTH IT - no question - and so much better than any gym I ever gave my money to all those years before. I feel like I am actually getting something very vaulable for my money and that feels good.

Thank you to Fitness Together - the owners Blake and Gwen - and all of the trainers (another shout-out to Allen who has been training me). There is a reason that Fitness Together gets so many stellar reviews - because THEY ARE STELLAR!

What I like about Fitness Together is the one-on-one workout with a trainer. Although I've never worked out like this before, I look forward to going to the gym and seeing what has been planned out for me. Each trainer has their own unique method that makes every session different. I like the fact that they're able to make changes for my physical needs and limitations so that I still get a great workout. I feel that each time I workout, it's a great challenge for me and I really feel accomplished when I'm done. I have set specific goals and they are helping me achieve them. I would highly recommend this group of trainers to anyone looking to improve their health and life.

I especially like the one on one workouts. Vince designs each workout for me specifically and I just have to do the exercises. I'm good with direction and appreciate the accountability of having set times for workouts each week with someone expecting me. Otherwise its too easy to skip it for something that pops up that may seem more important. I'm clear that the folks are there to support me, and what I put into it is what I will get out of it. The atmosphere is clean, inviting, and makes for an enjoyable workout. For me, its the best way to take care of my health through exercise. I highly recommend Fitness Together-Mission Hills.

My favorite thing about Fitness Together is the people...I've only just joined and already feel like I belong there because of Blake and his staff. Blake obviously loves helping people reach their goals and he and his wife Gwen have surrounded themselves with like-minded individuals. The FT trainers really care about their clients and make you feel so welcome, regardless of your fitness level (or lack there of!). There was never a hard sell to buy a package and although I am probably one of their least fit clients, I was given a sense of hope for success from the moment I walked in the door. No one ever made me feel bad about my current fitness status or dismissed me as someone who couldn't achieve my goals. The workouts are fun and challenging...just hard enough to know you've pushed yourself but not so much that you don't feel accomplished at the end. I also really appreciate the privacy afforded by the individual workout bays. I'm much more comfortable working out in a small space where it truly is one-on-one with my trainer. My progress is charted out so my trainer can refer to my previous workouts and plan a new, interesting session each time. I consider joining FT as an investment in my well being (you really can't put a price on your health) and it is one of the best decisions I've ever made! Although I am early on in my fitness journey, I can't imagine a more perfect place to begin my path to a longer, healthier life.

Blake worked with a small group of us twice a week in Balboa Park for 6 months. At the start, we presented a fairly broad mix of capabilities, limitations, fitness levels, needs and desires. Could have been a recipe for disaster, but Blake found a way to make every workout challenging for everyone, alternating between cardio and strength work, with enough variations and intervals to keep all of us on our toes. I wanted to get stronger and leaner, and I have. I also learned new fitness techniques and routines that I'll continue to implement on my own. More than anything, I appreciated Blake's personal encouragement, his dedication, his kindness and his support. He is a wonderful trainer and I hope to work with him again in the future.

Blake's a great trainer. I joined as part of my company's lunchtime workouts at Balboa Park. My goals were to get fit, stronger and leaner and I've definitely achieved those goals with Blake's help.
