Gabe is the real deal! Full of energy, super motivated, and genuinely cares about the people he works with. What really sets him apart is that he actually listens (to his clients and to good music!). I started working with Gabe in January till the Beginning of May and during that time I saw constant improvement my goal was to lose weight and get some more definition and I was very surpirsed to see how much I was able to accomplish in that short amount of time. I was about 173 pounds and went down to 153 in that time. Before training with Gabe I was at a point where I wasn’t feeling great with my body. I had recently herniated a disc in my lower back which was causing me a significant amount of pain and I overall lacked the energy and vitality that I wanted in my life. I cannot recommend Gabe at Fitness Unlocked enough. Over the course of less than a year and a half, his fitness methods helped me lose over 35 pounds at a healthy and easily maintainable pace. Gabe is one of the most highly qualified and skilled personal trainers here in San Diego!
As a Doctor of Physical Therapy and clinic owner, he is one of the few personal trainer is trust with my patients. I deal with a lot of patients who have pain from their back, knees, shoulders, and even pain from after surgery. Once those patients are more advanced and conditioned, I set them up with Gabe and he truly knows how to transition someone from rehab to fitness. I have not had one single patient tell me that Gabe has flared up their pain.
Overall, many of patients have described Gabe as a big promoter in making health and fitness a lifestyle by enforcing healthy eating habits and behaviors. Gabe also makes great online programs where his clients have access to an app that have instructional videos and specific workout routines.

I have been a skinny guy my whole life. It is something that has affected my confidence and I have tried to gain muscle again and again, but never achieved the results I wanted.
I reached out to Gabe through a referral. I found him to be passionate, genuine, and knowledgeable. He immediately identified what the roadblocks to my progress had been and identified how we would tackle them.
After our first month of training I had gained 8 lbs of muscle and an inch on my arms. In addition my posture had improved and my nagging back pain was nearly gone.

I was referred to Gabe from a Personal Trainer that I chose and started with right when the Pandemic started a couple years ago, so had to pause. Recently, my boyfriend and I wanted to see what we could possibly do together to get in shape with guidance, such as couples training. So I contacted that trainer, who has since moved, therefore I asked for referrals. That's how we met Gabe. We are so glad we did. He is professional, personable, committed, meets our individual needs, and it doesn't feel like a bootcamp or really tough from the start. I love how he builds up from where we started, challenges, motivates, mixes it up, and also has us interact or compete sometimes, which makes it fun. His education in Physical Therapy is also a standout, since he incorporates ways to strengthen problem areas, and checks in about how they feel. He is very supportive and interactive in and out of the gym. In the first month we saw results in our measurements. We look forward to our sessions and I highly recommend him!

I have never had a personal trainer before so I have nothing to compare my experience to but when I think of the type of personal trainer I would want, I think of Gabe. I, like many others, started my fitness journey on New Years Day. In January 2022 I started working with Gabe to reduce pain, lose weight and improve my overall health. I have suffered from chronic pain for many years. After a severe back injury over 10 years ago, I developed debilitating neck pain. I tried the at home workouts with no weights for almost a year before I started training with Gabe. My at home workouts were not helping me reach my goals. I knew I need to start weight training but I was scared. Due to my back injury, I shied away from weights for fear of reinjuring myself. When I did start going to a gym I was inconsistent and had bad form, resulting in increased pain. I needed someone to really guide me and instruct me more than anything. From day one Gabe has been really great. He understands my goals and needs. He is motivating and encouraging with out being pushy or berating. I have been training with Gabe for about 7 weeks now. While I am focused on weight loss, my primary motivation has been decreased pain in my neck. We began with exercises that target the shoulders and back. By strengthening these areas a lot of the pain in my neck has been relieved. About two weeks in I felt a difference in my neck pain, insomnia and energy levels. About four weeks in my muscles felt stronger. Now about seven weeks in I have radically reduced my neck pain, improved my sleep schedule, increased my energy as well as overall strength and endurance. With Gabe's help I have been able to reign in my diet and have seen about a 2 percent decrease in body fat, 1.5 inches off my waist, 1 inch of my arms and a 200% increase in my confidence. Will continue to use his services and highly recommend to anyone looking for someone to educate you, hold you accountable and encourage you!

Gabe has been training me for four months now. In this time, I have made great progress in the weights I use for deadlifts, bench press, and I have developed better mobility in exercises like body squats.
Gabe consistently answers my questions, provides advice on several aspects of fitness, and regularly writes up workouts for me to do on my own time. He listens to any questions or concerns that I might have and modifies each workout to make effective progress.

I’ve known Gabe for years now and have played many sports with him… he’s an extremely talented and intelligent athlete.

Gabe is a top notch athletic trainer to work with. I started working with Gabe back in March when I felt kind of lost in my pursuit of being fit. Some background, I have been lifting for 12 years, and have a pretty good grasp of working muscle groups. However I had been unable to shed some body fat percentage no matter how hard I tried. Since working with Gabe, I have lost 20lbs and feel so much better about myself. Gabe is always pushing me past what I would do on my own, and has really helped me reach my goals. Always punctual, willing to help when I don’t understand a movement, and is in shape enough himself to demonstrate the lifts. Would highly recommend as a trainer for any level of fitness if you want to take your health and fitness to the next level.

Gabe is a great trainer in a few ways, he's upbeat and full of positivity, encouraging you to do your very best and push yourself to new records. I wanted to get back into the gym once covid restrictions eased up, and wanted to take my fitness to the next level, including developing really good form so that's why I considered personal training and am happy with my choice. After each workout I feel great like I gave it my all, and Gabe helps push that for me and am pleased with my progress so far.

My first experience lifting was with Gabe, and I could not have asked for a better introduction. He came up with several detailed plans for me to choose from to suit my specific goals and schedule. He gave me thoughtful advice on everything I asked about that would affect my training goals, from nutrition to number of sets and even sleep.
Furthermore, Gabe is one of the most encouraging and inspiring people I have met, period. He is not just well-versed on the technical details of physical training, he is a gifted coach. It's easy to forget how important this is, especially when you are glancing through different businesses and don't really know the trainers you're considering. But a training plan is only valuable insofar as you engage with it, and Gabe has the passion and care to keep you moving toward your goals.
I cannot recommend Gabe enough as a physical trainer. He is deeply knowledgable, inspiring, sensitive to his trainees needs, and an all-around fantastic guy. I haven't checked out any other trainers, but I have no desire to after my experience with Gabe. Whether you're trying to lose a little weight, build strength, or get into the best shape of your life--Gabe is your man. Take it from someone who has spent many months under Gabe's guidance and swoop him up while you can.
