Initially joining Fitness 4ward for just a trial month, I have been here for almost a year now! The incredible coaches, Jon and Keith, have been instrumental in my progress, always ensuring proper form and technique – something I truly appreciate.
I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first when I didn't receive a standard diet chart and was simply guided on tracking my calories. However, this approach has surprisingly been one of the most valuable aspects of my experience. I've gained a much deeper understanding of nutrition and how to build sustainable, healthy meals that have allowed me to effectively manage my weight and fitness.
Beyond the excellent coaching, the community here is truly exceptional. The people here are incredibly motivating, and it's fantastic to be surrounded by individuals who share similar fitness goals. This supportive environment makes all the difference in staying consistent and pushing myself further. The best workout I haven't had in a looong time. I love the combination of the strength and conditioning. Jon was very friendly and attentive when I walked into my first class. The entire room was open to newcomers and very motivated. The entire staff is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable and adjusted to what I was comfortable with but pushed my limits. Highly recommend this gym if you're looking for an awesome workout.

When I firsted started Fitness4ward in 2017, I had come with the short-term goal of getting into shape for my wedding. I had never strength trained before in my life and felt intimidated by the equipment and anxious I would not know what to do. However, Coach Jon and the other members welcomed me with open arms. I was able to learn the moves and increase strength pretty quickly with proper coaching. Jon and Adri use a scientific approach to building muscle and burning fat to develop intentional and structured workout plans. This will promise you continuous results, so long as you show up everyday and put in the work. My short-term goal turned into a lifestyle. I can honestly say that all areas of my life have improved and contnue to thanks to this gym.

This gym is great! You really get fit within a short time as long as you're doing your part and keeping up with the workouts and nutrition. John and Keith are awesome trainers. You start to feel like you're part of a family. I always got positive feedback and that goes a long way for me. No need to put in a reservation for a class. No penalties for missing a class, no issues with canceling a membership, no card up front for a free trial. No pressure to join or upsell a membership. No down payment or extras to pay. If not for my schedule I'd still be there! Check this gym out! It'll be the best decision you've made in your life!!

This morning I got up and walked past the bathroom mirror and thought "I look good". That's not ego talking but a recognition that in my 60's now I am happy with myself, my appearance and my health. I owe that to being a member here for the last decade. This place and its programs are about solid science based exercise that help you to become a healthier person all around. This is a structured class approach that varies throughout the year to help you achieve your own goals and your own best results. There is no competition for equipment or space, we are mutually supportive of each other and enjoy being in class together. There is no body shaming or ability shaming, everyone encourages each other to succeed regardless of your age, body type, ability or where you are on your fitness journey. Gyms like this can be intimidating to newcomers but I believe if you give it a try for at least four months you will love it here and you will feel like family. I love seeing the happiness in new members when they come in one day and are struck by the realization of all they have achieved.

I joined fitness4ward in November 2022. I remember being on thanksgiving break and thinking to myself how I wanted to join a gym. I found fitness4ward on instagram and gave them a follow. I got a message to come check out the gym. I thought it was really cool how personal it felt and I was feeling excited to try it out. The first day I walked in I had a one on one with John. He wanted to get to know me and my goals. From the start I could tell how great of a coach he would be. Fitness4ward has been a part of my life since day 1. I never thought I could get as strong as I am now. I have found a love for working out. And on top of it all I have found the most encouraging community and lifelong friendships. I have exercised for most of my life. I was a runner in my 20s-40s but had to give that up when I wore my hip joints down so badly that both hips had to be replaced. For awhile, I tried exercising in other ways - swimming, pilates, peloton - but none of it felt the way I used to feel when I was running. I decided to try Fitness4ward in June 2023 because a friend of mine persuaded me to. For the first time since giving up running, I started getting that euphoric post-exercise feeling again. My muscles have gotten stronger and I have been feeling great!
I get my blood tested by a naturopath every 6 months. My bloodwork has never given me any reason to be concerned. I had my blood tested in August 2023 and the results were the same as they had been for years. I just had my blood retested in March 2024, and almost every single marker is improved! I am not doing anything differently other than going to Fitness4ward. I am eating the same things. I had no idea that exercising in this way would be affecting my bloodwork, but it makes sense! Love it and cannot recommend Fitness4ward enough for all health issues!!

From May 2023 until now, February 2024, I lost about 20lbs in total. What I like about Fitness4ward is the coaching process. Having injured my knee in 2021 before I came to Fitness4ward, I was afraid to workout on my own and hurt myself more. I like the group sessions where we get acquainted and workout along side one another. We also engage into activities such as hiking and outside gym social activities like going to the beach. Moreover, I like that I was able to loose 20 lbs in total within a year at Fitness4ward, I look more toned with muscle definition and I am looking forward to loosing more body fat and gaining more muscle and strength. I RECOMMEND THIS GYM.

I still remember my first day at the gym 4 years ago. As someone who was new to weight training, I was too shy and intimidated to lift weights. I got all the push and encouragement I needed from the coaches. After my first week at the gym, I never doubted myself again.
The fellow group members and coaches create a positive atmosphere that motivates and encourages everyone to push their limits and achieve their best.
What sets fitness4ward apart is it's strong sense of community. The trainers and fellow members are not just friendly but also incredibly helpful, fostering a positive environment. Everyone celebrates each other's successes, offers support during challenges, and fosters a sense of belonging that keeps you coming back for more. Kudos to Jon for building such community.
Personally, I've built significant strength and successfully lost weight, hit PRs, have better understanding of nutrition and know how to balance my macros to nourish my body and mind, thanks to the expertise and encouragement of the coaches. It's more than a gym, it's a place that transforms both your body and mindset.

There are many gyms in the area that focus on so many different themes of work outs which can be very challenging to finding what is right for you.Fitness4ward provided an initial 4 day free work out training with no membership, a great selling point to someone who is unsure if this will be fit for them. This gym provides rigorous strength training classes that include cardio, evolving weekly classes, education on the exercise, proper way of weightlifting, nutrition and it also has a community of like minded people that support each other.
The ownership takes pride in their business in bringing in value, changing up the classes, being involved, and getting feedback from customers on how to improve the classes. This has the formula of success and it should be replicated to potentially expand another gym in the future, which I believe should happen. Many other gyms just go through the motions that don't provide details on the work outs which is lacking in education. Aside from their standard work outs they bring in extra value of other seminars such as mobility training, proper deadlift, bench press, nutrition and more. This should be your “gym”.

I can’t recommend this place enough! I’ve done years of Pilates and spin classes but I always found myself wanting more. I’d been wanting to give weight training a try, but I didn’t know where to start and I knew I’d be lost doing it on my own at a commercial gym. I found Fitness 4ward and I’m so glad I gave it a chance. Jon and his staff of coaches are phenomenal. Every session is planned out and part of an overall training program. They accept members at every level of fitness and experience, and there is a heavy emphasis on form and technique. You don’t have to worry about getting injured here. With consistency and dedication the results come fast and you’ll find yourself quickly gaining that confidence we all strive for in the gym. Jon’s wealth of knowledge doesn’t stop at weight training though! He can coach you through your nutrition and will do check ins with you on your measurements and goals. I initially joined the gym hoping to lose weight, and for the first time in my years of effort I am seeing results. It’s been so encouraging that I’ve even changed my goals with time and have been working towards building more muscle. (My last set of measurements revealed a smaller waist and larger booty) In addition to the training this gym has an incredible community. I’ve made so many friends here and there isn’t a better feeling in the world than being cheered on by your peers while you hit a new PR. We do community hikes and happy hours so there is a lot of opportunity for socializing if that’s something you’re interested in. Again, I cannot say enough good things about this place, please just give it a try ☺️

I have been struggling to lose weight for a few years.
I’ve worked with several trainers, both in person and online, and had only ever achieved minuscule success until I began training at Fitness4ward and working with Coach Jon and the rest of the Fitness4ward team.
It’s been 6 weeks, and I am down nearly 10 pounds, and 2.5% body fat.
I am having more fun training than I’ve had in years, and the way that Coach Jon sets up your body composition and nutrition tracking makes it enjoyable and simple to adhere to. He also does an excellent job keeping you accountable. You can tell he is as invested in your goals as you are.
The group workouts are a blast, and combine various kinds of compound and isolation work. The trainers running the classes are knowledgeable and friendly. People of every fitness level can take the same class and challenge themselves accordingly. All of the members I have met at all stages of their fitness journey are kind and encouraging.
Also, this is not just a weight loss gym. Another aspect of joining that I enjoy is that my husband, who is focused on gaining weight and muscle, and I get to take class together!
Coach Jon is equally as knowledgeable assisting him with his goals, and he’s seen a ton of progress as well.
I am so grateful that I found this place and highly recommend giving them a try!

I was looking for a change to my work out routine in January and I'm so happy I checked out Fitness4ward. It's exactly what I was looking for. I used to go to the gym 2-3 times a week. Now I'm there 4-5 a week. I love the structure of the classes and the expertise of the trainers who are always focused on form, motivation, commitment and having fun doing it! After every class, I feel like I've just had the best work out. I really enjoy tracking my progress and have already seen results in just 6 months. I have been coming here for 12 years now after serving 20 years in the military, belonging to several gyms and using several trainers, this is hands down the best fitness experience and best overall program for personal health. I look forward to coming every day mainly because of the other people. Every session is structured so you are doing the same exercises as others and it makes for a great social as well as fitness environment. Every one encourages every one else. The program does not use one method but rather formats change throughout the year so that you truly exercise your entire body over time. My 24 year old son joined me here and the program fit both our needs. I am in my best shape in years as I enter my 60’s. I can’t say enough positive comments. Come by, try it for a month or two and you will agree.

My fitness has always been an uphill battle for me. I start and then quickly fall apart. I had plenty of excuses as to "why"...motivation, lack results, you name it, I used it. Then I came to Fitness4ward to do their 8 week, Groupon special. That was 4 YEARS AGO!!
I have found so much more than a gym. The support and friendships. This is my family! They push me and encourage me. I have not only stuck them but I am a better person. Mentally and physically.

Fitness4ward is a community of people who genuinely want to improve on themselves and are encouraging of everyone else’s journey there. I went in not knowing much about strength training so, naturally I was a little shy at first but it really just took two weeks of going everyday for me to get comfortable in that space and then I couldn’t stop going. It was the part of my day that I looked forward to because it made me feel great physically and mentally. Also, all I had to do was show up. The workouts were always different. Each day focused on different body parts and each week focused on a different method. Whether it was maxing out on your weights, focusing on form, etc. You never hit a plateau. Jon and Josh are amazing coaches. They both pay attention to each person’s strengths and weaknesses and are able to push them based off that. They also know when you are slacking so don’t think you’ll be able to get away with that. You’ll thank them later tho :) They’re also very understanding. Life sometimes happens and when it does get tough, they’re there to encourage you to get back up and keep going. My experience there was seriously the best. Unfortunately, I moved so I stopped going but I miss it and now have a hard time finding a gym as good as Fitness4ward.

After years of struggling to commit to exercise, Fitness4ward delivered exactly what I was missing: a daily structure and technical know-how, both of which are backed up by a community (or should I say, family!) of like-minded individuals who are an excellent source of motivation, accountability, and companionship. Fitness4ward has been the most recent experience in my fitness journey. I had previously done some weightlifting and cardio training at what I thought was high intensity. But I was not seeing the results I wanted. The training, coaching, and nutrition at fitness4ward took everything to a level I never thought was possible. I've been a member of this gym for more than 10 years because I know that I can't get the workout I need on my own. The class structure is great and form is demonstrated for each exercise. Always. The overall plan for the week and its purpose is always explained. I felt inspired and motivated by Jon & Josh every session ! I saw significant results with my body and strength everyday, something I never experienced while going to other gyms like 24h. Not only was I loosing fat but I was also getting stronger !
Fitness4ward has multiple sessions every day so whenever I couldn’t make it in the mornings I was able to make it to one of the other sessions later that same day, which is perfect if you have a more fluid schedule.
Not only did I feel better physically and mentally but I was also able to meet other people that wanted to become stronger and healthier too.
By going to this gym I was able to incorporate exercise into my lifestyle which made me healthier and happier ! ☺️

This has been the BEST decision Ive made for myself since moving back to San Diego this summer. I work at a desk for 12 hours straight, which leaves me tired and stressed at the end of the day. But when I started getting up early to go to the 6am class at Fitness4ward, I’ve experienced an improvement in my energy, mental health, and physical health. No matter how tired i am, the feeling i get after finishing a class here is the BEST feeling of the day for me.
The instructors Jon and Josh push you hard, they keep class fun and challenging, and they help you understand proper form. They’re a huge reason why I love coming to this gym.
I love the combination of strength training and conditioning we do. I also love the variety of workouts we do. Class is never boring!

So glad I found Fitness4ward, a hidden gem in the San Diego gym scene. The trainers Jon and Josh are actually care about their members and hold us accountable not just to show up but also give 100%
I think the diversity of their clientele speaks volumes because they have a wide range of ages and fitness levels and offer accomodations according to where you are at. The community they've created is really awesome, they are friendly and welcoming to all. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a great workout and cool people to workout with.

Love this place! Have been to other similar gyms/boot camps/cross fits and Fitness4ward hands down is the best place to become healthy, strong, and fit. Jon takes a personalized approach with his clients. He does quarterly reviews which truly gauges your success. He goes over your nutrition and sets personalized goals. I was invited to try out Fitness4ward 4 years ago by a former roommate and very good friend after we did a mud run and i noticed she wasn’t tired. I thought i was in decent shape... and i was terribly mistaken. Jon, our trainer continually challenges us with different workouts, techniques and styles of training that are always high intensity while focusing on technique and form over improper movement and weight. With proper form and nutrition my body changed completely and i am now able to do things i never thought my body was capable of (hand stand pushups and pull/chin-ups). When i travel i have confidence in any activity (hiked the tallest mountain in Scandinavia recently on a whim) and i now have new goals and new aspirations ahead of me. The community of the gym is always friendly, driven, focused and sometimes silly but we all push ourselves to be the best version of ourselves we can be. I couldn’t ask for a better place to grow as a person and I look forward to what the future has in store. Hope to see you at 5am where the BEASTS are.

i have been training with jon at fitness4ward for almost 4 years now and it has been an amazing experience. jon is professional and extremely educated in all fields related to fitness and nutrition. he is always willing to answer any questions i have regarding my training or progress. he is always at the workouts teaching, demonstrating, and correcting the exercises we do. he is constantly encouraging and pushing me to lift heavier, run faster, and train harder. everyone in this program is extremely friendly and willing to help. nobody hesitates to show you how an exercise is done or share tips on how to improve. with the help and support of jon, everyone i see is always pushing themselves to work out to the best of their abilities and even beyond. being around them inspires me to do better and work harder even when im not feeling it. i look forward to seeing what else i can accomplish with the help of jon and this fitfam!

If you’re reading this, then you are probably looking for a boot camp to join, or to change from what you’re currently doing. Congrats! You just found your new place, and this is the start of a new you. It doesn’t matter what your fitness level is, if you are here to get better, the coaches will push and challenge you to be that better person. This isn’t some cookie cutter boot camp either, where you’ll start seeing repetition in the workouts, and things become predictable. Trust me, you’ll never get bored as the workouts change and evolve. In the many years I’ve been coming to this gym, I don’t think I have ever repeated the same workout.
Since coming here, I’ve improved all aspects of my fitness. I can run faster and further, lift heavier than I thought was possible, and learned proper form. I’ve lost fat, gained muscle, and gained gym buddies!
Speaking of gym buddies, the people here want you to succeed. Fitness4Ward has an awesome community of folks that is there sweating with you every step of the way and challenging you to be the better you.
So, long story short – this is the place where you will become a better version of you. The coaches, community, and other tools are here, you just need to put in the hard work and sweat.

I have been going to this gym since Jun 2017 and still absolutely love it and 100% recommend to anyone who wants to change their lifestyle and achieve fitness goals.
Every workout session is unique and I have not seen a similar workout in last 2.5 years, which makes the workout interesting and challenging.

Fitness4Ward gives you an environment which makes you embark on a wonderful fitness journey where you learn not only about yourself but your inner potential. There are days where in you feel like missing it but still end up going not miss the best one hour of the day where only thing that flows is your sweat and forgetting all other things in your personal and professional hardships. Fitness4ward is like my second home. I’ve been training there for a little over a year; I learned so much beginning with 5the proper techniques and ending with my own capabilities. Jon the owner/trainer has never let me take the easy road. I went from not being able to do 1 push up to doing several. Be prepared to be sore the next day but it’s a good sore. I’m proud to be one of the many “beasts” that training at this amazing gym. I’ve shared so many great memories and hope to have many more!

I first walked in the door knowing how "to train" because I've been an athlete my whole life. After my first week I realized I didn't know much at all. Jon, the owner and trainer is knowledgeable well beyond anyone I've ever trained with. I've been at Fitness4ward for just over a year and I am still learning new ways to lift, stretch, run, and train from him and all the coaches here. If you are ready to be pushed mentally and physically, and to make certifiable progress, look no further. Jon's classes are not for the faint of heart. If you aren't fully committed to making positive changes in your health, he will be the first to tell you to look elsewhere for a fitness regimen.
Jon is a living example of perfect health. His knowledge of all things nutrition and physical training is unsurpassed. He teaches with intensity and fervor... but he is just as committed to improving your mindset as much as your body.
The format of his boot camp style workouts changes from week to week so that you are constantly challenging and engaging your muscles in every aspect of strength and endurance. My constant state of soreness is a perpetual validation that he is constantly pushing my physical limitations. Jon is always evaluating and correcting his clients' form and technique and is always providing variations to upgrade the level of effort for maximal results. I dropped close to 15 pounds and 7% body fat in less than 3 months. Every day you look around and see your fellow boot campers shedding the weight, and it's a true testament to Jon's acute knowledge and direction.
