I enjoy this gym
They keep it clean
It is small but usually not over crowded except during the after work crowd
Usually there isn't much of a wait for anything
They really pack a lot into a small space but are definitely missing a good amount of equipment
The staff is all friendly
I wish they had extended hours and more classes in the evenings

Gym is a little outdated but they try to add a variety of equipment. It is particularly small and you'll notice early morning and evenings. They only have one of everything (squat rack, leg press) so it can be a wait during peak hours. I spent a year at the gym and never appreciated the customer service from the manager. She comes off as unnecessarily aggressive. I understand the need to be firm when someone is dropping weights, had their mask down, or an issue with their membership... But how you speak to people goes a long way. I decided not to rejoin for these reasons. Thank you to the front desk workers who were always kind, knew your name and helpful.

UPDATED:
I have updated my rating by two stars because of the actions and promise made to rectify my experience from the owner. I only wish this was offered on the day I decided to try the gym out. Nevertheless, I respect and value the attempt to fix the issue at hand. I now believe that this was just an unfortunate event perpetuated by two employees (manager and trainer) that may not share the passion the owner does. Thank you Tom for reaching out, I will indeed consider your offer.
ORIGINAL POST
This was my first gym experience. I came in on a Friday to tour the facility and was greeted warmly and given lots of information. The lady was so kind. The first impression was amazing. I chose to signup for the 7day trial. My husband was interested in doing the same thing. Because I was unable to start that day or the next I decided to have my week pass begin the following Monday. I actually came in on a Tuesday ready to workout. Upon entering I was asked my name.
After I told the lady (which I later found out was the manager) she commenced to show me paperwork to sign up for a full membership. I explained to her that I was only interested in participating in my seven day free trial. She went on to tell me how that was not in her system I explained that I came in on Friday ready to start on Monday. She goes into the computer scans my card tells me Iโm not listed continues on with other investigation even asking a fellow coworker. She tells me after research that my seven day trial had actually expired already.
I asked if I was really given a seven day trial because I had not even come in for my first day. She continued to do further research only after 10 to 15 minutes did she discover that she was looking at the wrong date. After all of that I decided to give back the seven day swipe card and move on to another gym. The manager insisted I take the card anyway but I told her no thanks. All of this was done in front of other gym attendees and another staff member to make matters worse.
I must say that the impression that I was given from the first young lady was very very different than that of the manager. Customer service or client retention was not at all taking into consideration. If there was an issue that needed to be fixed as the manager sheโs she should have told me to enjoy my work out but before I leave come back by and stop by her office so that we can get all the paperwork squared away. At that point I would have respected the level of professionalism and customer service that she would have been providing but instead I was humiliated, frustrated and walked away without a work out.
This is why I am giving a one star review for this location. My experience is not the same as someone elseโs but I chose to post my review so that someone else can know how I was treated at this gym.

I have no idea where I would be now, if not for the great training and friendships I have developed at this gym. Coming in over 50, vastly overweight and with real health and pain issues, Michael Finn and his staff at Healthworks Total Fitness have compassionately guided, coached and supported me through to amazing health and over 120 lbs weight loss. Yes, I showed up and did the work, but along with those efforts, they handed me, a super hard-case, my life back. Now I am really ready to push the envelope and aim to get back into competitive sports and activities. Yay!

LOVE this gym! First of all, it's the cleanest gym I've ever been in. I see the staff wiping down machines almost every time I'm in there. Second, the staff are super friendly. Always welcome you by name. The owners are two local guys that are actually interested in what the members need. I asked for another set of 5 pound dumbbells and they purchased them right away. They make repairs right away, equipment is kept up nicely. And they care about your fitness. I have been working on weight loss and strengthening and Mark will spend time talking with me about these goals. Obviously I love the place. It has a small gym feel, people are friendly (but not TOO friendly), no loud thumping music, laid back, not the place to see or be seen (which I like) - it just feels exclusive, welcoming and personalized. Oh, and it's almost never crowded. I can count on one hand how many times I had to wait for a machine in the past year.
I'm not a huge classes person but the few times I've taken them they've been good. The owners are always adding new classes and the spin options are plentiful. I just wish my scheduled allowed me to take them more often.
My contract was up recently and I spent some time going to other local gyms in the area. I'm always going to see what my options are and make sure I'm getting the best value. In the end, I re-upped with Healthworks, it was the best I could find for my needs.

I liked this gym when I could go. It is clean, no meat heads, and the price is reasonable. However, I developed kidney failure during the contract and couldn't continue. I went in to cancel the membership but the owner told the girl behind the counter that I had to stick to the contract. I could postpone it, but not cancel. It is not as if he came out to look at me with my tubes sticking out of my chest. He had the girl say no. I had moved 17 miles up the road and asked if that could be a reason why. She said no, it had to be 25 miles.
Today my membership is up. I went in in person to cancel. The owner wasn't in, and I was told I needed to talk to him to cancel. Seriously? So, I gave my number and I never received a call. When we called later today, the girl was rude again, and said I had to come in in person to talk to the owner!
In summary, as long as you are a paying customer, everything is fine. As soon as you try to cancel, you get thug tactics and run arounds. Had I known this was going to happen, you can bet I would never have signed up. Save yourself some grief, don't join.
UPDATE: Since I wrote this post, the owner called and cancelled the membership. He didn't refund any money from the time I first tried to cancel, however, at least I don't have to get billed going further.

Awesome gym. The new owners, a couple of local guys Michael Finn and Mark Cordeiro, just added a ton of new cardio equipment and the spin and group classes are excellent. Staff is really friendly the place is always spotless and the club never seems crowded. Great atmosphere - an excellent antidote to the big chains ... and right around the corner!
