This business uses bad business practices to charge your account after you have asked them to cancel your account. My wife cancelled this account twice before, and they continued to charge the account. Best thing about this gym is that it fully caters to seniors! They are also fully ADA compliant. The equipment is modern and state of the art (the "other gym" has 1980s rejects, perhaps from a dump) There is a wide variety of group classes 6 days a week; there are senior classes five days a week, which includes Zumba gold. There is low turnover of staff; most of the instructors have been there for years. Management is absolutely professional.

This is a nice clean gym with a polite staff and very nice client group. They have a mix of everything and room to move around. It's much better than any LA Fitness Ive been to and Im happy I joined.

There's so much stuff that there's probably 3-4 machines copies of each machine.

I see some older reviews with low ratings and am told there was a change in ownership.

They have a nice mixture of free weights and machines. A large room for classes and a dedicated room for Spin.

They have different classes available to attend, which is nice.

Large fans are placed in some areas, which I like and see that other people like them also. Helps dry the sweat from a good workout quicker!

The women's restroom and dressing area are nice. There are several shower stalls with curtains, but the end stall curtain needs to be different to not allow people leaving the toilet stall to see in the shower!

Now for the improvements they could make: turn the air on, pkease!!! Not everyone wants to sweat profusely while working out.

Post signs not to drop the weights and put them back when done. Joseph used to remind people over the PA, in a nice manner, to be cautious with equipment, not to drop weights, re-stack weights, and it helped.

We are camping at Joshua Tree National Park and this gym was the only place to pay for a shower it was $15 per person and the showers were all glass that you can see through as soon as the shower is on and absolutely no place to get dressed privately as the showers themselves were so small you couldn’t bring your stuff into them. The showers themselves were not clean either very grimy. Definitely not worth the $15 day pass if all you are looking for is a shower. I’d highly recommend looking else where

Took a day-pass ($15). The front staff was nice.

I noticed a lot of plates on the ground, plates left on one end of a barbell, 10lb plates just on the floor, plates left on the machine, curl bars left on the preacher curl, and nobody wipes down their benches/machines. I actually stopped wiping down the machines too because I turned around and the spray bottle was gone.

Noticed some guy kick roll a dumbbell to the rack and leaves it there. Doesn't rack it. Lots of HS kids doing the same thing. No one had respect for the gym which is the shame because has decent equipment.

In all, this gym mostly gets a hit for its patrons. If people just respected the gym, it would be a better place to workout in.

After a horrific experience at the other YV gym, I decided to give 5 Star a try and I am pleasantly surprised. The assistant manager is an angel and the staff are friendly and welcoming.
Any heresay that 5 Star is not personal or friendly is not true. I have a service dog and the staff and members have been exceptionally accommodating.
I have known Zumba teacher Apollonia for nearly 3 years and she is not only a great dance teacher she is extremely kind with a heart of gold. I really like the yoga teacher Mercedes. The room where classes happen has plenty of room. It has a wood floor which is much better for legs and feet.
Next to Appolonia, Sergio is the best trainer in the Morongo Basin and he gives a training session to new 5 Star members. Sergio also teaches a fitness exercise spin class several days a week. "Cycle Sculpt"
I have had many gym memberships and considering our low population the number of cardio and weight machines at this gym is enormous. I tend to gravitate towards small, quiet, and simple, but I definitely won't be bored and I am confident I will be treated in a professional and respectful manner.
There are several classes that cater to over 50, which I really appreciate and look forward to trying. The over 55 discount is a lifesaver.

The place is rundown. Needs a full-time janitor. Lack practical dynamics, such as towels/clean restrooms. All the hand sanitizer empty, all the soap empty. I thought I was back in County jail.

Best gym in Yucca Valley, hands down. They carry an extensive variety of equipment to include turf, sleds, boxes, kettle bells, power racks, free weight dumbells, a hip thrust rack, and a plethora of machines not typically found in other commercial gyms. Monthly membership rates are affordable, and most members are respectful and positive individuals. The sole reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is because they are occasionally slow to restock paper towels on the gym floor. Although the paper towel outages may be a distribution and / or logistical issue, paper towels being out of stock is a hygienic dilemma, especially in a public gym. Other than that, I highly recommend 5 Star Gym!

Have been going to this gym for 3 months only because there not another one closer. This gym has decent weights but it is tremendously dirty. The men’s locker room has been the same since I joined. Dirty, broken lockers, etc. we have to pay a maintenance fee so where is that going to? Definitely not for the locker rooms or the weights. Despite the good establishment the business practice for cancelling is massively predatory. This is a service, not an apartment building. I tried cancelling the day my membership was posted to renew, they asked me to come in person for a cancellation, then proceeded to demand a 30 day notice for cancelling. The good:
Decent array of free weights and machines, relatively clean, and inexpensive.

The bad:
Limited on attachable bars and hand grips that aren't demolished. Some of the bars are totally bent.
The main cable stations go up in increments of fifteen pounds. Huge bummer.
They seem to have a contract with the local schools and it is swamped with young kids goofing off and socializing while groups of five or more kids crowd the cable stations and squat racks. This makes those areas unusable because they're not there to get in and get out like adult users. They don't care how long it takes between sets.

Edit: Many aspects of this gym are highly sought after but one thing that upsets and is the sole purpose for the poor review is Apolonia and her disrespectful Zumba class. Time and time again I’ve taken notice to her blatant disrespect of staff and other members. I’ve seen on multiple occasions when staff members respectfully ask her to close her class doors during session she would raise her voice and even her Zumba students have been rude to workers and members. The music is loud for the class, which I understand, but her leaving the doors open leads to the entire gym being overpowered by her music which drowns out the gym’s music and even makes it very difficult to speak to people less than a foot away. She and her class members are the sole reason for this review, as well as the in person complaint I left in the suggestions box. My reviews on Yelp and Google will remain this way until her and her class’ actions are corrected and are up to the standard the gym has always had. It’s left a poor mark on the gym’s long standing reputation as a friendly and welcoming fitness establishment.

I used to like the gym but it really has gotten worse as time goes on. If it wasn’t the only gym in the area I would have changed by now. Every day another machine gets an out of order sign put on it. Over half the treadmills are out of service. They just closed for 2 weeks to remodel and didn’t bother to address the issue. The machines just sit there with caution tape around them for months. They have no clips to use the on cable machines so you have to rig it with something to be able to use. Going any time after 3pm is pointless because all these high schoolers come and goof off and chase each other around like idiots and are friends with the staff so it’s pointless to even try to complain. Really hoping a new gym comes to town and opens soon.

All the machines are poorly taken care of, they all got dust on them most of the leather is cracked. And for pully machine or cable machines bring your own carbiner because they got none a guy told me it's because everyone steals them. The male locker room lockers were broken off. When you try to cancel you have to do it in person they won't let you on the phone, and there's a 35 dollar cancel fee. I probably only saw one person wipe down his machine. But that's because the whole gym share only 3 spray bottles and towel dispensers. And their inconveniently located.

Staff are amongst the nicest, politest I have ever met in a gym. We travel a lot, particularly around the US and this was a gym that left not just a great impression in terms of layout, equipment but also in the human aspect too.

Lad who greeted us at the counter from South LA is a credit to the gym, we spoke also to one of the PTs Duane, also a gent.

The gym has all the important touches of detail, from chains, to resistance bands and plyo boxes, Olympic bumper plates and lift area - great value for money and we almost were tempted to stay another day in the area just to train here again.

Absolutely kicks the cr*p out of the gyms in LA. If you like to work out and you have a bit of time on your hands, then make the trip here. Nothing else to add, but we were hugely impressed.
