Machines are in horrible, TVs up stairs fell off and has not been replaced. They dont fix things in a timely manner… paper towel machines never work right. Overall cleanliness is average. Staff is nice but you can't fix the issues with nice staff.
Things break employees can't answer any questions on when it will be fixed..
I'm only here because there is no competition once another gym comes here this place will probably go under.

I am a new member of this gym and I love everything about it! Two floors of amazing equipment and lovely clean locker rooms with huge showers. I have had the opportunity to speak with several staff members and management and they have been helpful, supportive, and gracious. The cost is very reasonable! Other members I’ve spoken to are always positive and helpful. Every level of fitness and body type is represented here. It’s a no judgment zone! Highly recommended in every way. Always clean, friendly staff, locker rooms & shower facilities are spacious and sanitary. The weight room / lifting area has most of the modern equipment you'd expect to see and they have updated equipment throughout.
However, Not Offering A Spin Class As Part Of Their Cardio Regemine Continues To Baffle Many Of Us Members.
That's Simply Unheard Of.. And It's Very Seldom That One, Or More, Of Their ( Limited )Cardio Options Are Out Of Order. All in All, a great gym for all fitness levels

Joined in 2024, tried to cancel membership in 2025. No way to cancel on line. No way to cancel by telephone. Had to go in, in person, and cancel my membership. Then was told that I still had to pay for the following month. I signed a document cancelling membership and was given a copy. Three months later, Five Star is still charging me membership fees each month. I stopped the charges on my credit card and they are now sending me collections threats and continuing to bill me. Numerous calls to their automated system put me on hold when I ask to speak to a representative, but no one ever answers.

Join if you want, but know you can't ever escape.

This has been an awful, stressful experience. I don't care how good the gym is, how nice the people are, this system is exploitative and frustrating.

The only gym in Desert Hot Springs is that it has several issues. When you're doing machines that require plated weights.They have very few five or ten pounds weight. Possibly because so many members come in with their bags, I imagine these walked out the door.

Good amount of equipment, different mix of machine manufacturers, free weights up to 120lbs dumbells and a few squat racks. Basically you can accomplish whatever goals you might have at this gym. Staff is friendly and only gripe would be standard non 24 hour offerings. Open at 5am close 10pm. Late night lifters are out of luck. Being the only gym in town, it gets crowded at times. Has two stories, one for free weights, one for cardio. Smoothie bar is also available but not always open. Learned they used to have free weights and machines on separate floors?!?! Why in the world would they cram both into the same space? The spacing between equipment is very close. Too close if busy. Large cardio or group area that is never used? Zero logic putting everyone in same area. Just my two $0. 02.

The gym is the only gym now in DHS since the closing of world gym.
I wasn’t a member before the zumba class took a lot of the upstairs, but the gym does what I would want it to do all whilst being just down the road a little from where I live.
The cardio equipment is fairly diverse, though they only have two actual bike machines that have been out of order for months now. You’re forced to use the “laid back” bikes instead.
Edit: They got a couple more “laid back” bikes in replacement to the regular ones that broke, which is better than nothing I guess.
The weight and compound movement machines downstairs have just about all you could ever want (almost)
Once again, this is the only gym left in DHS. It gets crowded and I try to avoid going from 5-8 pm when all the afterwork and after school people show up.
It’s hard to gain access to what I want to do sometimes, and the monthly fee is a little high given the amount of stuff you’re actually able to do.
A nice perk is that they have certain times where they make protein waffles, and the scent flows through the air of the gym and makes you long for the chance to taste them whilst working out. It’s nice to smell something other than sweat and man musk.

I also detest how loud they play their awful music. I understand that it’s my opinion, but no one needs to hear ANYTHING at 3,000 decibels. 90% of the people in the gym wear headphones; it’s unnecessary to play it so high. It’s always the same remixes, metal and horrible autotune rap. It’s impossible to take phone calls, I like to talk to my girlfriend when she’s driving home from work, but it’s super difficult to hear anything. I can hear it through music playing in my earbuds, that’s how bad it is. If I wanted my ears to bleed I would stay at home and shove toothpicks through my eardrums.

All and all, it saves me the trip to Palm Springs for EOS, I would like to see more options for equipment and a little more space for doing what I’d like to do.

Wanted to write this review to say that the gym is fine and all the equipment works well, however, the boxing pads at this establishment smells like they haven't been cleaned since the invention of the cheeto, the smell is so putrid that I can not use them again and leaves a staining smell on my hands. PLEASE clean the boxing pads on a regular basis.

I've been going to this gym for a year and ever since they did a construction at the gym they put all the machines together and it's been packed I can't deadlift while there's people everywhere and I could hurt someone.
Also not to mention the no crocs rule they have a paper saying no crocs because they don't want people to hurt themselves while working out but shouldn't they worry about the machines being too close to people that can hurt someone and get into a law suit?
Also $30 a membership fee while people are close to each other working out in one little room like what? And ever since they put all the machines together I haven't seen a person try to deadlift. Do better fiver star! A 24hr gym would be so much better. And not a working sauna but having a sauna room??

This gym is going down hill. Not only are the weights and machines crammed into one room they also have the tendency to not open on time. It’s a huge inconvenience. Also I don’t know why they converted the upstairs room into a zumba class now all the weights and machines are downstairs making it hard to even walk around during peak hours. All in all it’s a very disappointing experience.

Been coming to this gym for years now. Always had issues with employees not showing up on time to open the gym at 5am. Also, they removed all the machines upstairs to convert it into a Zumba class? Today, March 7, 2024, from 4 pm to 6:30 pm many young people from Desert Hot Springs High School are entering, I agree that young people do exercises and instead of being at home playing video games and using drugs. What I do not agree with is that when they sit down to do an exercise routine they only sit down to look at their cell phone and use their social networks without using the device and doing their exercises, I was using 2 devices for 20 minutes with my exercise routines I was waiting for the young man to vacate the machine and he continued sitting there with his cell phone for more than 20 minutes. He never did his routines and I left upset, but not before talking to the manager about what could be done so that the young people do their routines and not sitting in them with their cell phone and the manager told me... THAT I COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, since they are paying and I responded, I am also paying to use the gym and if I use the machines I will not come to sit and look at my cell phone. I hope that the manager in charge of the Gym does something about this and makes the young people exercise and not sit looking at his cell phone.

Great gym plenty of personal trainers available if that's your thing otherwise they have a good selection of machines and weights. Always kept very clean. The senior social class with John is friendly and inviting, the senior strong with Daniel is a great class to get a bit more strength training in, and the abdominal blast with Austin is challenging and I've noticed a bit more core strength in just a couple of weeks be prepared to sweat though.
There is a step cardio class taught by Trent that is fantastic in the evenings M-W-F.

Just sharing, so the 19th of this month I was arriving at the gym and I told the guy at the desk I will pay you my monthly after my workout, and he said yes, when the new manager jannie told me in a very RUDE way Sr you better pay before getting in ,so I said I already told the guy but she insisted, so I pay my monthly bill, and I told her I was one day behind...she didn't care ( you better be on time whit your parents) so after my workout I canceled my membership, I know my responsibilities but one day behind ???and not only that but the way she demanded was very RUDE..typical when some new mangers trying to do everything perfect...so 5 starts gym it's one star for me ...have good workout.

Looooook. Its Desert hot springs and this is the onky gym in town. So there is that. It gets super busy in the afternoon/ eveni g and weekends seem to be less so and mornings are the best( just like other gyms). Okay my only real complaint is the fact that 3 of thr 6 tredmills are down and are usually taken up by people who like to walk... it fine everyone works out differently. The issue is because the location itself is such a small building with not really any multiples of any machine, when core machines like that are down it kinda sucks..BUT it is making me branch out with my cardio so, thats a positive.

Currently, had a situation where my account was charged for three months after canceling they told me they couldn't refund my money! They also said there was no history of them trying to cancel it. I also been having other issues internally. They were allowing men to enter the sauna room in the women restroom while women would shower and change. Had a man walk into the restroom while i was showering. Also another man told me I could change and he would be in there. Being a survivor this made me angry. The gym didn't do anything for the longest time. They finally said no to men going in but they didn't do that for a long time. Managers are rude and don't have good customer service.

I am so sad that I have to write this today I am shocked by the customer service of Sean the supervisor at this gym, he humiliated me for bringing in the remainder of my monthly payment which was 5$!! "Really 5 dollars?" "You can't workout until you pay it all" I wasn't able to pay the enhancement fee of $34 the same day mind you I was going to bring it in the next day. I spoke with the accountant and she agreed on letting me pay in at least 2 days. Once your contract is over they will still charge you and maybe Shawn will bash you for not paying the late fees and monthly all at once. Even though I paid this last week 65$ to pay off. Either way they where going to get paid, (Money wasted) I've been coming to the gym for a year and a half loved it sad to say I have to let it I go. Sawn I hope you get better soon you should probably look into working somewhere you're actually happy.

UPDATE: Still blasting music in main cardio area (not the group fitness rooms) so loud I could hear it loudly over my headphones across the gym. "Trainer's" response? "Oh, I didn't know you were here." The point isn't to avoid someone who complains, it's to have some decency and common courtesy. But common sense isn't so common anymore.

Original post: The trainers really make it hard to like this gym. The mornings aren't crowded but one of the trainers literally takes up 4-5 machines at a time for her and her partner's workouts and the other trainer runs a group class in the weight room (NOT the group exercise room which is there for that purpose) and takes up 10 machines while a group runs through the entire area. Or they take up th cardio area (again, NOT the spin room which is there for that purpose) and blast music - good luck if you have headphones on and want to listen to your own. Really disruptive and management does not address complaints. Big F U to paying members. Makes me look forward to moving in 6 months.

I used to like the gym when i first started my membership on FEB2017 but paying 39 a month just because i LOVE the steamroom and after the maintenance fees witch was 39 Steamroom NEVER works! I could be paying 10 dlls somewhere else? Managers are very rude and unprofessional. Been trying to cancel since Feb2018 and have not received a call from them and ive been calling every other day to get no responce from a manager. WOW !!!

Dishonest business. The gym wasnt bad. But mislead me on my contract. Told me my contract ending would end paymants. They renewed it and continued to charge me for 6 months after. Wont give my money back. Wont give me a copy of my contract. Owner is a realy dumb indian man, he said im not gonna fix this because you wont listen to my side. There is no side. Its just clear as day. Your gym participates in bad business practices. As a business owner myself i had to report this to FTC.
