When I was learning to swim by myself in the pool, the coach came up to me and said with a smile, you can practice here now, but in the summer when there is a swimming team you can't swim here like you do now. I asked him, can't I come the earliest in the morning? He smiled and said to me, yes, you can't. I think this is the worst conversation I have had today, and I think he only said it to me because I am an Asian girl. And he is white.
(When I joined the YMCA, I had been browsing the website for half a month, so I knew exactly when free swimming would be open.)
I like the front desk staff very much. Their enthusiasm made me decide to join the YMCA.
But the swimming coach made me feel very uncomfortable.RACISM:)

Everyone is super friendly. And given all the movement and people I believe they handle all situations the best they can.

The workout area (indoors) is modern enough, and the sports fields seem decent, but much of the pool area is unchanged from it's initial creation in the early 1960's, and the men's pool locker room really shows this. (Most of it's original men-only space went for women, so there's only 2 showers, 24 lockers, and 2 benches, and get this, 1 toilet & sink, no urinals! And it gets worse when someone uses the toilet stall to change or takes long.)
It's not terribly warm in the water or air in the winter time, as they now have a lot of fans running in the roof. (Used to be air turbines.)

Gets crowded. Friendly staff. Typical gym. It has a kids club where you can work out for up to two hours while they take care of your children. The staff there is great as well

More extensive weight machines and free weights than I anticipated. Both indoor and outdoor offerings. They also have a good variety and amount of cardio machines (treadmills, elliptical, etc...) located in several rooms. There is also a basketball court, lap pool, and large exercise room for their group classes. When I was exploring the facility there was a Karate class in session with several young students and a sensei.

Front desk does not pick up their phones. I tried calling to see if they allowed memberships from other cities. Nobody picked up. Drove 15 minutes, assuming that they did accept out of town memberships. They did not, and I was turned away.

I love this place and much appreciate the precautions they are taking during this pandemic. I have been coming here for years. I find the staff to be pleasant, helpful. I like the low key atmosphere. I cannot speak about the classes since I have not taken any. I like the fact that older people are welcome here. I highly recommend this Y for someone who is looking for a safe, unhurried atmosphere with pleasant staff.

This facility is awesome! It is really really clean and they are really taking the safety of their guests seriously. They check your wellness before you go inside. You are able to make appointments for lap swim which is really cool and they disinfect after. They have arrows on the floor so people are walking in one direction all the staff and guests wear masks. There are even people walking around disinfecting. They moved some equipment outside so your not cramped inside, and you can see how busy they are online before you go. They have a great assortment of workout equipment.I really have been impressed. In a time where businesses are eager to open and are bending the rules on safety guidelines it nice to know that I can go somewhere after work to workout and feel safe. I checked out several other places before signing up here and I was shocked at how some places where not following safety guidelines at all or not enforcing rules and I left immediately. Thank you!

Not a bad option for my daughter while taking a break from competitive swimming to nurse and knee injury. The pool can be a bit chaotic with combination of Y activity open swim so we had to limit use to specific days. However, once ready to return to competition, the Y refused to cancel membership with 4 days notice, citing the small print requiring 5 days. My wife and I work and today, Sat, was the first day we could get to the office to cancel. 1 day off, really! Now we have to pay an additional month and won't even be using the facility.

What can you say it's the historical YMCA. And in case you didn't know they are a nonprofit that was founded 173 years ago with the goal of doing basically what they are still doing today, making the communities that they serve healthier. So with all the competition is it a good choice to be your gym? That all depends. If you're single and you like to work out at all hours of the night this probably isn't the place for you because they close at 10 p.m. on the weekdays and 5 on the weekends but if you're a family it's an excellent value at $47 you can bring the whole family they'll even watch your little ones while you work out. They have movie Nights for the kids and they'll even teach your kid to swim and for seniors it's hands down the best place to keep physically fit. The facility at first glance may seem small but they pack a lot in a little space like an arena football field, indoor basketball courts, an indoor swimming pool, free weight room, lots of cardio machines, a Dance Studio, batting cages, a child care center, full locker room with showers. The staff are very professional and provide premium customer service The place has a real exclusive feel to it. So much so that sometimes I have to remind myself I'm at the Y. The best thing to do if you're not familiar with the place is to go down there and get a 3-day pass, it's free. You can try it for 3 days and then make up your mind personally it works for me. I really like it!

I've been a YMCA member since I was a young child, it's where I learned to swim, camp and many other firsts. I love my Fullerton YMCA! The facility is clean modern and comfortable. I moved to Buena Park this year and am so happy to have found the Fullerton YMCA. I love it!

We LOVE our YMCA! In Fullerton. My husband & Iove to go and workout. The Y is such a great pace. Everyone who works there is so nice & helpful. It's also very clean. We're retired, so we can go and workout for about an hour or more during the day. Especially because it's not crowded at all.

The Fullerton Family YMCA is a friendly, welcoming place to stay fit with exercise options for everyone.
I was looking for an indoor pool, and the one here offers aqua aerobics, lap swimming, and open pool times (along with swim lessons and other youth water sports). I LOVE the aqua aerobics classes! The instructors are experienced, the other class members are friendly, and YMCA staff are helpful and courteous.
There is much more offered "on land," but I haven't had a chance to try out the classes or machines ... I'm having too much fun in the pool!
